Now lads i'm all about Monk staying, but i'm just considering our options here. It's only hypothetical but if he doesn't stay for whatever reason, who do you think would be best to take us forward?

i'm watching MNF and Pardew is on here, talking about defensive shape and how to build it into attack, reminds me of our floors this season. who would be your preference if gary wasn't to stay? for me grayson, or possibly di matteo, another italian among the ranks and maybe a good relationship between manager and owner is just what we need.

Whoever it is it's a huge job to do after this season, with my expectations and probably most others, play offs is the ask for next year as i'd be disappointed with anything less. give me your thoughts lads

1St of all hi from sunny lanzarote, as much as I'd like monkey to stay if the worst happens how about pardew as a replacement? Always plays a attacking style might just suit us.

No not do Matteo. Pardew possibly, hodgeson is still available. I still think that rads and bravo would use there Milan or Madrid connections

Not sure who to take over but i believe they will be foreign. And thank god that rules out grayson. what's a matter with you lot. Grayson would be a massive step back from even monk. I feel bit sorry for monk who has done an acceptable job and, who knows, may get another season.

Kinda like Pardew. He has managed (no pun intended) to get some good results from very average teams. It would be good to see how he would go with decent backing - hoping that this is forthcoming in the new season.

Karana sounds very appealing.

Oh yeah. karanka, forgot about him. He would also fit the bravo Spanish, Real Madrid link. Good shout Alf. worth a flutter I'd guessed

pretty sure Gary will go as Monk and bravo want their own man. I don't mind monk staying but will not lose sleep if he goes. He made some very bad mistakes for me 1. no plan b

2. not selling taylor

3. beradi on the left

4. playing bridcutt so deep so much and turning bridcut from a player all fans wanted to sign as qaulity to a player all fans wanted to drop as he was no good (this was not the player but tactics)

5. choked at the end and threw promotion bid away i like monk and he did well overall so happy for him to stay but think getting rid and bringing in new man makes sense as board will show signal of intent. also bravo has come on board and seems very good so makes sense for him to have say in new man.

don't like pardew, always good at first but always loses it, also have heard he messes about with YTS players GF's and has been known to be drunk at work a few times.

Never done a good job for more than a year. Karakna has done it and raniairi would be massive signal to league we are back. Personally i think it will be someone no on is thinking of and after wagner i would be behind that. Di matteo is a no for me as is zola.

Of course I want Steve Mcclown but fear he is far too good for this club but he would win us champ league in under 12 months he is that good, if not maybe Hock back? who ever we get just don't play beradi on the left

I think sticking with Monk is the best option against the ones mentioned above. As BW said, Pardew is ok at first but worrying records at both Newcastle and Palace in final 12 months. More experience than Monk but not a step forward. Di Matteo, not convinced on recent record. Karanka, too defensive, he got Mboro up but couldn't progress even with Steve Gibson as his chairman.

McClown! ha ha i love a bit of punny lingus on a Tuesday evening, nice one BW. I like Alex Neil, he did a great job getting Norwich up from nowhere, poor signings when in prem tho, don't know if they were his choices but seems a good motivator. Overall i think i would stick with Monk and personally feel he will get a three year contract.

I still think any new manager will be one we haven't mentioned and don't know much about. Honestly I think rads has made his mind up already.

Needs to be proven top flight manager in whatever league. Someone who can get us up and keep us up. don't mind new to eng soccer but wagner and like haven't cleared first hurdle yet.

Mr Gustavo Poyet. I keep typing it after every disappointing season and I'll keep typing it. Monk is OK with plan A working fairly well due to quality of play at times but against better managers more tactically aware, very poor. I also think we threw the season away due to Monk's dubious approach to fitness. As a player he hated pre-season so the players didn't reach fitness until two months in, when results started to come good.

We also took a few games to click back in shape after each international break. Can't say that the players weren't properly briefed for each game as the system just didn't change after a few months. If Monk goes, no great loss. For me, he's been mediocre. Poyet.
