Phil Hay has said that club have told him this morning that Jack Clarke will definitely not be sold in this window.

Tory Hay's tweet worryingly appears to emphasize the word "this". Clarke should not be sold to the Premiership elite period.

If we don’t go up this year, his form permitting, the chances of keeping him will diminish with each month we stay in the championship. You have to be realistic the buying power and attraction of the top six premiership clubs is enormous . Him taking us into that group has to be the hope but I imagine, he, his family and advisers will have to be convinced that is possible. 3/ 4 months is a long time in football, keeping JC for that time and him creating goals and scoring goals that take us into the premiership, the priority!

If we go up he stays. If we don't he goes. Fair enough to him if that is the case. He has a bright future. I only hope we place ourselves in such a position so that it is with us.

I'd like to think that the lad would stay whatever happens this season, however, if he, Radz and Bub decide it's time to move on then they should take the Cellino route and demand, at the very least, upwards of £30M.

I think this summer will see a massive review promoted or not and very much dependent on how we finish given that coming towards the end of Jan we are still top of the league!

Will Bielsa stay on? Will the board want him to? What resources will he need to stay in the Premiership or mount another serious challenge? Is Clarke more valuable as part of either of those options or as a way of financing one or both of them?

I hope that the desire to hold up contract discussions u til the summer is part of keeping the focus squarely on our remaining games. The more you think about the next 3/ 4, the more it dawns just how important they are in this our centenary year!
