The day before the fiasco and i'm right up for this one. I can see it going either way and there being a heavy dependandancy on whos more up for it on the night. I'll start my rant with my 11 for the game. Lonergan, no complaints there, a clean sheet away from home and a good performance at burnley wins him the spot. Secondly, the defence. For me you've got to start ayling, cooper, and then the other one is a toss up. Remember the strat of the season when we were crying for a CB, turns out cooper was that man. Based on recent form, I'd go with Shaun as i like the look of him, but tactically I'd choose Penns, he's played in 2 merseyside derbys so he knows what a derby is all about, and scored in one for everton, so this top division experience is the difference for me, on another day, perhaps against a bolton, burton, or any other struggling team, youd give shaun another run, but he also played 90 on tuesday so ill stick with the same back two from the bristol game. LB there's only one choice, I'd say consider dallas but i don't think its necessary to bring him back and anita has had some good games there this year. Ayling, Coops, Penns, Anita. Onto the midfield. i'm going with a 4231 still so maintaining TC's favoured style. holding 2 are obvious for me, ronny and okane the choices. The reason i haven't selected phillips is because he'd be my number 10 oing off last week, the sunderland, and bolton games where he pushed forward and ultimately created chances for goals. he's a local lad and knows the intensity of a derby. so he would be my number 10, despite pablos good game at leicester, that will put him out for a week, unless he comes on in the second half for the lesser performing of the 3 central players. Wingers i would have saiz undoubtedly, i don't need to justify that one. class act at the moment. your other winger is an open one, roofe or alioski to start, not sure which i would choose, i think with united being a tough team and playing 5 at the back, both wingers will have to come inside, and as that's on alioskis stronger foot, that's the only reason he gets the nod for me. they're similar players, other than the fact alioski prefers the ball infront of him to run onto, whereas roofe seems to like it into feet so he can play with it. i'm not sure, what would we all choose? Now if i haven't bored you by this point, and you're still reading, thanks. Lassogga up top. He gets goals, is a physical presence to work from, and is good in the air and with his feet. A bit fo muscle to aim for and a target for the attacking 3. The team does pick itself in many ways after the selection from tuesday, but pablo is close to the first team again after a good performance, and may even start on the right? who knows. i'm going for a 2-1 win, both teams to score early goals and a great game. We need this win more than any other bar cardiff IMO. all 3 points, then w can sit back saturday and watch the others cock up:D i'm far too positive. MOT

never a straight forward derby is there? I feel as though they'll look to force samu out of the game, TC has to be one step ahead every time if we are to win, we need to catch them off guard and do what we do best, 4231 has proven to be our best formation as we have won more games, but a 433 is also very likely.

ok so just listened to TC's presser and vieira at lunch and I've been having thoughts, again! brand new formation based on the fact that TC says we may not need another full back to replace berardi and CBJ. This shouts to me, 3 at the back. new 11: lonergan, 3CB's being penn, Jansson/shaugnessy, coops. wing backs in ayling and dallas (very much suited to dallas imo) . 3 CM's in ronny, okane, and phillips, saiz at number 10, then lassoga up top. picture it, it sounds perfect. We have attacking wing backs who can go and support saiz, lassogga and one other cm (assuming this attacking/defensive duty rotates) which makes an attacking 5 and a defensive 5, with the other two midfielders sitting. I really like the sound of this and think it may suit us and compliment 3 people in particular. saiz given a free roam to kill defenders and drift wherever he likes, dallas as he can show both attacking and defensive abilities, he has stamina and pace to burn with a bit of muscle about him, and okane, with the backing of vieira and phillips, to recover if he makes any mistakes, he will be spraying balls up and down those wings and into the feet of saiz. ITS PERFECT. if you ask me, TC needs to try this, and may well be doing so.

Great logic to use 4-2-3-1 Samo because we have won the most games playing that system. We have also lost the most games playing that system, because that is the system we have played in all but one game. Currently 100% record using 4-3-3.
