Unless we have a nailed on certainty before 31 Jan. Then, is the logical move to sit tight until the summer and pursue, with vigour, some players going down (home and abroad) and some players who are shining lights in mediocre teams. Some of which may well be at the end (or nearing the end) of their contracts. In spite of the passion and rhetoric flying about at the moment, the wise move would be to hang fire. I would not argue with the need for signing just the type and the timing. Yesterday, even with 10 men, we did okay and matched them for chances. I know some would say we should be destroying an average Ipswich side but the Leeds we have now will not struggle and with the right additions at the right time will mount a serious challenge next year.

If the right player to improve the squad becomes available, at a reasonable price, then you should sign him irrelevant of the window you are in. Improving a squad window upon window is the key to promotion instead of signing 7 or 8 players in one go and hoping that they will instantly gel

Both good posts above in my opinion. January is known to see massively inflated prices, so summer will be the key window. An additional 4, plus a few development players moving up, such as Sarkic, and we will be in a position to push on next season.

So where does that leave TC with Radz saying the minimum for this year is 6th place, without imrovements now can't see better than mid table for us

I would argue the prices for most in the summer were also inflated - not sure if they were any better or worse than in a Jan window.

Sit tight till the summer leodis, think saiz and jannson will still be there after the summer? . we need decent players in now to show the club has ambition, and to convince players like saiz/jansson to stay at the club.

both are under contract so if they do leave it will be on our terms. will the money be re-invested though? I'm sure it will be promised but we haven't yet seen any reinvestment from the Wood or Taylor sales that we were promised.

Fair points you all make. If the deal is a no brainer then it does not matter when it happens but, there are far more contracts ending summer than winter and there are relegated teams wanting to trim their wage bills so it is more of a buyers market. Also if a team is willing to listen to offers for their top player it is far more likely at the end of a season than in the middle.
