I don't care how well Ecuban can run the channels or pressurise defences he can't score. Even a decent amateur striker finding himself in the positions Ecuban has been in front of goal would have stuck one or two away. He is just another one who says he is a striker but isn't. Didn't rate Wood at anything much but he did score. Lassoga can score but not a great deal else but he is a finisher Ecuban isn't - not worth his place. I don't understand how professional players can repeatedly miss chances like Ecuban does and still be getting contracts on the basis of being a striker. I only played Yorkshire league but I would have been ashamed if I had missed those chances - however good the keeper was.

We paid 500k for him, what do you expect? . we sold wood for 15 mil, if you think 500k is going to replace that your delusional, blame the management, as usual we sell Avery good player who banged in 30 goals for us with a few days of the window left, leaving us no time to replace, lassoga was a panic loan move to try replace wood, he can't run, is just about the slowest player on a turn I have seen, shots from everywhere, you say he's a finisher, look at the easy chances he missed against Millwall (2 before they scored) also a couple against Bristol, all strikers miss chances, but not all cost 500k. you get what you pay for. like I say the people at the top are responsible.

The point being any player who calls himself a player should be able to put one or two away when clear on goal. Transfer fee has nothing to do with it other than saying half a million gets you a player who can't do his job - at any level. Getting in the right positions with the ball should be the difficult bit. The comment was about the player not the politics. There was a time when budding strikers would be drilled every day in the basic skill of beating the keeper when one on one. They should be able to do it in their sleep if they want to make a living at the game.

Transfer fee has everything to do with it, you pay big money for a striker because he puts them away 9 out of 10,not 1 in ten. how you can say the Dee makes no difference beggars belief . what do you think defines the great from the good, the good from the average, the average from the poor. answer is quality, and you have to pay for that, like I said earlier we paid 500k for him and that's what you get for that sort of FEE

Its not the fee that defines you it's whether you can play. Ecuban can chase, run and pressurise. He can even hold the ball up but he's no scorer. Kids learning the trade know how to put the ball awayor they don't succeed. £50 million half a million half a sixpence it doesn't matter. A good scout will pick out the ones that have the makings. If they don't half a sixpence is too much. £500,000 is a hell of a lot for a player that continually misses chances and doesn't learn. That's the point about fees. If he can't do the job there is no point paying any money. Will Ecuban ever learn? Doubt it. How many players have we brought in that we have said 'just need a bit of time' but have done nothing. Scoring 'one on ones' is technique which is learnt very early in a career. Forgetting it when it matters is about composure and mental strength. Ecuban should have that by now. He hasn't. Grot might be the same and he's not as mobile. Why would you spend any money on them?

We aren't going to spend big fees on players so get used to that calibre, we don't have the scouting network in place either, we have been In the championship well over 10 yrs, our time has passed on attracting good players, other teams have better scouting systems, we are left to pick up scraps. it ain't his fault he's up top and not good enough, he's there because that's all we have . lassoga is poor and so is grot, he has a better work rate so is in the team. get over it

its simple. A television that is wanted and works costs £500. I can't afford it but a chap that lives down the street will sell me one that doesn't work for £100. I buy it then complain that I can't watch my favourite programme. It's stupid. Its the same with players. Why pay £500000 (Ecuban) when he can't play simply because he is cheaper than one that can? Fill in any number of Leeds players that fit that scenario.
