Swansea statement says the clubs could not agree suitable terms?

Do you have medical before terms agreed? Or did they change terms later?

{Ed001's Note - a medical can be done at any time. It just meant that Swansea expected a deal to happen is all. But then they were no longer over a barrel as Bony left and Leeds wouldn't pay any of the fee up front as a loan fee, so it collapsed.}

Player doesn’t go for a medical if clubs have not agreed a deal, would be waste of time. I suggest swans speaking with forked tongues. Would like to act EFL if that is in the spirit if the game and respectful of other teams and more fundamentally own player.

Let’s stuff em at ER when they visit.

{Ed001's Note - that is not true. Players have been known to take a medical with another club without the knowledge of their club in the past. In this case, the deal looked set to be done with just haggling over when Leeds paid, as Swans wanted money up front so they could fund a signing. Then Bony's move away eased their finances by removing their highest paid player from the wage bill, so they no longer needed to offload anyone. With Leeds still refusing to compromise over payment terms the deal fell through as Swans had no need to compromise either any more.}

Disagree. If it was the norm or more prevalent for players to have medical and then for deals to fall through we would not all be so worked up about it. It happens but rarely and usually only due to failing the medical. Normally when a player goes for a medical the deal has been agreed. If you think about it otherwise the existing chaotic process would be mind bendingly screwed.

{Ed001's Note - disagree all you like but you have no idea what you are talking about whereas I have been doing this for nearly 18 years now and have seen it many times. Why ignorant people always want to argue I have no idea, it is incredibly irritating that someone without a clue refuses to accept they don't know.}

Swansea’s whole approach was at best shabby and at worst deceitful. If I was the player’s agent I would be agreeing with him that there was no way in which he would be renewing his contract with these people when they had basically screwed him over. I would also tell him to get his head down and put in the effort and see what the future brings. The only condition on which I would advise signing a new financially beneficial contract would be where it contained a crystal clear buy out clause set at a suitable value. Ultimately if his contract runs down he can leave freely. If Swansea were due any compensation subsequently it is unlikely to be anywhere near their valuation, based on what I have seen in the past.

{Ed001's Note - you really are making baseless accusations. Swansea were far from deceitful. Disorganised yes, but nothing deceitful about it. They were perfectly open about needing to offload some players to make savings and who they wanted to offload and James was never in that list of players. They made it plain from the start they didn't want to lose him.}

Fantastic response Ed!

{Ed001's Note - thank you alf, I am trying to explain but some people just want to make up nonsense!}

Ed001 thought this was a banter sight. Just because someone has an alternate view or opinion about this doesn’t make them ignorant. Only an insecure individual would overreact in this manner. Your supposed to moderate and edit, I assumed. Not lay into people who happen to disagree with you. I don’t normally step into the gutter to engage in such verbal fisticuffs but in your case I will and basically call it as I see it. If you find it difficult to take an opposite opinion on board I suggest you find another forum you moron.

{Ed001's Note - are you really this stupid? I am not the moron who is arguing out of sheer ignorance and knows nothing of the situation but refuses to listen when someone explains it to them. A moron is the imbecile who is too stupid to learn. Look in the mirror if you are still confused little boy. Now run along and play elsewhere.}

Coffee

Not sure if this reply will get posted, considering the circumstances, but I have also found the dotting of this sight very heavy handed in the past

I am able to call on people who have had administrative roles within the higher tiers of football for way over 18 years and even they say they could not definitively say how or why a situation would occur
Your idea is as plausible as the next mans.

{Ed001's Note - and I am telling you what was said by people who were involved in trying to make the deal happen. Not some nebulous admin clerk who was nowhere near it. His idea was based, like yours, on someone with no idea about what was going on and purely supposition with a clear bias towards blaming Swansea and removing any blame from Leeds.}

Ed001, I have not blamed Swansea in any post, did you hear I did from one of your "nebulous" inner circle contacts that I did blame Swansea?

I enjoy the fact you feel you can interact with the Leeds United supporters on this website, given your not a Leeds United fan (a nebulous admin clerk told me) , however I am unhappy that you feel it gives you the right to call one of the contributors "a moron". Without contributors this website would be as quiet as most other teams
Would you have allowed two of us leeds supporters to call each other morons, or would you have used your editing powers to censor that behaviour?

{Ed001's Note - he called me a moron or did that escape you? Obviously you feel that is ok? As for blame, I was referring to him really and should have made that clearer, but when people get given a free service and feel they have the right to abuse us for giving it to them and to tell us how to run it, then it gets irritating. If you don't like it no one forces you to come here and if you are not contributing anything other than snide comments why bother me? Just go elsewhere if you don't like it.}

Ed001. I didn't see Coffee's moron comment, prior to your reply. So firstly, apologies. I would take exception to that if Coffee had said that to me.

Coffee, fair play you started the name calling

As for going elsewhere. Why? I really enjoy this site and love how informed many of the contributors are.

{Ed001's Note - no worries, I can understand that. As for the going elsewhere, I just assumed by the way you were talking that you didn't really like it as there is so much you feel wrong with it. I understand it is not perfect, nor am I, but when people tell you what you should be doing, rather than making suggestions for other ways, it just becomes annoying. I would have no problem if people were paying for it, but I keep it free, out of principle as I think the net should be free, but still. I mean all the articles are write are because people ask for them, I put in sometimes 18 hours a day and never take a day off, yet every site people are on the editors backs for varying reasons. It does mean the ones of us that spend more time on the sites tend to snap at people. But we spend our time deleting constant abuse across all the sites and it does wear you down, so little niggly things become a snapping point. So I apologise for biting at you and for reacting to Coffee. I should have worded it better initially to him anyway but it does get to you sometimes when people argue without having any knowledge of something when you have just spoken to people who were actually there involved in it.}
