If Clarke is sold against Bubs wishes. Answers on a postcard please.

I don’t think Radz or Orta are stupid enough to jeopardise their relationship with Bielsa. But is quite clearly enjoying this project, and the scope he has been given. He will have some assurances.

If the figures are in around 10 million as is being reported this means a big pay day for his agent so could imagine what Mr Ian harte would be advising.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 22:18:09
I'd only sell Clarke for £35m+ with easily achievable add-ons.

Fair point wex lad. I do distrust agents, including Hartey!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 22:51:31
It’s not just his agent, this could be an offer that guarantees the young lad financial security for his early life . You can’t discount the attractiveness of these opportunities to the player and family.

I think he wants to play for Leeds and be in the premiership with us and if that doesn’t happen this year, then the chance to go elsewhere should still be there.

Don’t forget the lad could turn down this off and have a career threatening injury a week later and suddenly the opportunity has gone.

That’s also another reason why any championship club would not seriously consider an offer 10-15 million for a young lad who has yet to fully establish himself as a first team regular.

Obviously I want him to stay and help take us to the Premiership and do as well as he can for us there, but he and his family will be thinking about his future as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2019 00:42:48
Didn't he supposedly turn down Citeh? If so, why would he go now? Just more cheapo so-called journalism IMHO.

Gotta be plus $25 mill. With 3 yr free loan back and 30% of future transfer fee. If they want him that bad. Pay for him. If it’s any of top 6. They can afford it.
Any team under top 6 he would be silly to go to anyway and they couldn’t afford him.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2019 09:00:35
I think Clarke will stay and review his options in the summer alongside a Leeds contract. Not sure there is a need for premiership clubs to act now. His development with Leeds is likely to be fine until then and probably better than being thrown in to any premiership club under 23 setup.

I think it is far more likely that we could lose Roofe this window, the chance of goals for the club and guaranteed much higher contract for him for a few years.

We see these situations for a fans or business prospective, the player is looking at it from his own personal and families financial future.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2019 09:18:54
Why wouldn't a premier league club act now. Knowing Radz money issues are well publicised maybe they sense an opportunity.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2019 09:21:38
1. Read a lot of comments 20-30mil, let's be realistic, if he does want to leave there's no way we're getting that much, 6-8mil max most likely. He's young and unproven despite performing well in the league. The sort of player 20-30mil will buy you is far beyond his current ability, and I do appreciate he has massive potential just don't think those numbers are realistic.
2. I honestly can't see him wanting to leave. He loves Leeds, comes from the academy and is being given exposure at a good level under a great manager. He especially won't want to leave in January, where in the premier League is he going to go and get first team football just now? I think radz and orta aren't being stupid postponing his contract talks until the summer. Sends a message to him, prove your good enough, keep developing and we will reward you. It also makes sure not every player is knocking the door down asking for a contract extension/ raise after half a season. He's on a long contract.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2019 09:54:11
Wex, a premier league club offering good money to club and player is always going to have a chance, now in the summer or beyond. Where is there any evidence that we need to sell? Other clubs are going to be dealing with urgent needs first and Clarke doesn’t fit that need for a Prem club.

I’d worry much more about losing Roofe, he does offer the chance of more goals now, more of a track record and really wants to improve his contract. We have Bamford and Roberts in the wings, much easier for everyone to justify him going if he wants to and gets unhappy!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 21:11:43
Thanks Whiteman, I understand he not a Leeds player now but saying these are the players in squad since season start and now not available due to injury or loaned. All of these would be starters and we haven't got the cover or replaced.

Catholic girl goes into confession and tells the Premier "father I'm pregnant". " How did this happen my child? " He asks her " Father I think it's the second coming " she replies. Rather ataken back by her explanition, he asks her " now why would you think it's the second coming my child? " To which she replies " because I swallowed the first one father".

Based on the fact we are top of the league after 26 games, we have a few injuries now granted, most should be fit in 4 weeks at latest . We've lost 3 players of which only one was a starter, then along came Clarke who no one really thought would do as well as he has . more influential in my opinion then Saiz had been this season . what reasons do some think will be behind us dropping down the table?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2019 18:47:53
Agree Raggity

I seem to remember Leeds went top of the league in December 2018 with only 1 recognised keeper, an inexperienced one at that. A right fullback out injured to the new year. A utility, swiss international defender also out til the new year. A Chelsea loanee who hasn't started playing yet. And their most expensive, and experienced forward out until the new year

They didn't do bad if I recollect right.

Obviously there are going to be hiccups on the way but I am so proud of what they have achieved so far this season. What a great bunch of lads. I wish them all the best in their quest for folklore immortality. and for the reflected glory that I can bask in.

Hear hear Leeds1970, I read some posts and have to keep on looking at the table! We’re top! Unfortunately We have lost a few to injury and like any team as they are first choice starters we have suffered . But they will be back at some stage . Do all the doom mongers forget we were in w financial mess and even getting money from the player sales has kept us going, wages running the club etc, Is Radz supposed put us in the position again by spending on players and paying wages for players who will be sitting fiddling with there thumbs when the injured return or should we then discard the injured? Throwing money we haven’t got to improve the side at the top of the league isn’t sound business sense in our position . Plus buying players who if we go up won’t cut it and will not come cheap doesn't make financial sense! A few up and coming players who won’t mind warming the bench when our first team players return would be ideal, but will there clubs let them come not to play regularly? We have lost 3 players, Blackman a quality player, unfortunately underused and even more unfortunately injured, Baker, not used and not cutting it when used and Saiz, alarmingly nowhere as good as last season, which is counterbalanced by the emergence of Clarke, a breath of fresh air . Are we really that worse off then before? We’re top, let WBA and the rest worry about catching us . Or as one poster said they’ve been unlucky, now they’re ok and on a roll, well so will we be again when the injured return. MOT.

I’m looking forward to the game. Every match under Bielsa is an interesting chess like contest. Whatever the challenges he comes up with people and a plan that gives us a chance. No reason at all why he can’t do it again.

Think Roofe might drop back into the 10 role and Roberts up front . If not working change it around .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2019 14:38:19
It'll be more like other way round. You don't sacrifice a striker who's in form especially when there's no fit substitute striker as of yet. Roberts can grow into no.10 role. Will need a few games for experiment to work.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 14:45:20
Definite possibility of them interchanging throughout the game. Keeps their defence thinking.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 13:43:30
Given the size of our squad, the absentees and the progress Derby have made logic suggests we will by at least two goals tomorrow. BPF will have an excellent game but still concede his traditional two. He will have lots to do and that usually makes a keeper look good because he will save a few. With Cooper, Douglas, Dallas, Hernandez, Phillips, Beradi missing we will be up against it. Halme will probably play and Clarke might get a start but Roberts will probably get the '10' shirt' Pearce might get a start with Alioski in front of him although in circumstances I would prefer Alioski at left back but that won't happen as no other wingers available except Clarke. Shackleton is also in line It will be an interesting team selection. We hammered them away let's hope Bielsa can pull this one off as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 15:52:51
I hope we do well tomorrow. We have promising players although I'm not too keen on Harrison. The problem is moving them around often and there will be a lot of youngsters. You never know we might pull it off. Stranger things have happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 18:27:12
Hessian where did you get your information regarding Derby’s so called improvement? The last 10 league games played we come out comfortably on top points wise and the last 5 games league that is we also come out points wise on top! I’m always speechless when our fans put other teams above us, with so called facts based on what! With our small squad, injuries and so called demise, we still comfortably top Derby, what now! MOT.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 13:31:58
All I'm saying is we should be at an even keel now; all of the Wood, Taylor, Vieira and 49ers money has covered all of the incomings since Orta was hired. (including loans)

There is no way we have gone over that budget - so now is the time for Radz to either sell more equity (too late for this window) or put up. We're not asking for Aston Villa investment, we're asking for the equivalent of being first in the Championship!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I'm with George. I can see a Leeds style implode if we don't.
As good as Biesla is. We simply haven't got the players to compete. I fear that the wheels will come off.
I don't care how hard it is to get the right player. January window has been coming since the last one. We barely had enough in the first place but have done well to get where we are.
We have the money. Now use it.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2019 11:41:38
You only have to look at last season - Cardiff were not exactly splashing the cash yet when January came around they spent 7 million on Madine. An average player at best - but when you're in those top 3/ 4 spots it is imperative to strengthen!

How we haven't sourced a keeper wanting more game time within the past 6 weeks is unbelievable - only Leeds!

10 Jan 2019 09:49:09
We have lost 4 from the start of season squad. we have four defenders out plus Philips, Hernandez, Bamford and Browne out. MB has done a great job at bringing through young players . The opportunity this season is so great, Rads would be mad not to invest the money required to get in the players that would guarantee top 2. A few good loans and some quality up front. Cannot express strongly enough how disappointed we could be if Rads is to let this opportunity be lost through a lack of investment. We have 20 games left . Wages for 3 loans for those games 2 or 3 million and then 3 recruits keeper defender and midfielder £5m for the 3 . Seven or eight million now well invested would bear great dividends for an astute business man. The window is open ten days, madness to try and do this on the cheap.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Jan 2019 10:28:40
Lets not forget the £10m invested from 49ers and installments of the Wood transfer should also be burning a hole in Radz pocket. Yes I know, football finance is not as simple as that but we should have enough to bring in 2 or 3 quality loans.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 08:59:41
Think we as fans should realise that the process of signing new players is complex and certainly not straight forward! Some fans just think click your fingers and we will have top quality players come running to elland road,
Theres the fee which quite often is inflated, jan window always cautious because any decent top quality players would not be available in january, clubs will just not sell their best players particularly to rival clubs unless they're skint and a stupid ridiculous inflated offer came in, so the best players are hard to find in january, then you have to convince the player to upsticks and move his family to somewhere they might not really want to live, then there's wages to negotiate, most now come with stipulations game time assertions from their agents bonuses etc to negotiate, some (not all) don't want to drop down a league so its not an easy process for orta and the club and that's why it probably takes longer than the fans would like and why they have lists of players for one position in order of preference. I imagine it is a stressful job MOT brothers 😎.

It's not simple but money talks. Aston Villa knew their problem positions and a keeper was through the door on January 1st.

And might I add paying some rather large fees in the process.

You're right lads. We should have the money but what if we still have a leaky ship. From previous owners. Most of the incoming money is already earmarked to cover debts still ongoing. No, I believe that there are no millions sloshing about and that any recruitment will be at the very end of Jan (if a seller blinks first) or a cheap loan deal. Added to that theory is the precarious position of Eleven Sports which was a major investment and is currently losing big time. He may even be moving funds to prop it up? In Radz we have an owner with his heart in the right place it's just again, we have found a multi millionaire with no money. The fact that Orta appears to have only recently been in motion underlines my theory. With a useful budget and the team going well he should have been making phone calls weeks/ months ago ready for 01 January.
