One good thing - Whilst we didn't get the goal we were after, at least TC did everything in his power to try and make it happen. Was good to see a manager have the courage to to replace a defender with an attacker.

62% possession and 12 attempts on goal. They really figured out how to stop us in our tracks and shut down our offence. at least look at the stats before you try to wind everyone up :) .

Just back from the ground. Firstly, great crowd over 32,000 and good atmosphere. It was an interesting step up for the team and we struggled to get control of the game or create much until Preston got their mad no 4 sent off! After that we were peppering the goal, most that nos didn't quite come off although their goalkeeper made s couple of good saves. Preston even had a chance to steal it at the death. Alioski and Saiz just didn't have the time or space that they had had in midweek. Preston did a good job of closing us down and made it very hard for us to play down the wings like we had been doing. I think we will be well set up for away games but need to find a way of stamping authority on the home games.

I reckon a draw was about the right result in the end. I have to go on about the poor ref tho, how many times did he tell the PNE goalie to get on with it? If he had got his card out the second time he might have put a bit more urgency into Mr Maxwell ! ! (little rant over, tune in Tuesday for more ref-ranting :) )

Charlie Taylor was an unused sub today, despite Shaun Dyche promising him to be their 1st choice left back. After winning at Chelsea can't see him getting in the team for next match, still more time on his hands to count his wages.

Wood did well for us last season but if we can get 20 mill for him would take it. He is improving and adding to his game but he is still lacking in a lot of areas. Hold up play and assists and his heading I think he will struggle against defenders in premiership. If he gets the ball in the penalty box 8 out of ten he will score but he won't be given space in top flight. A lot of his goals came from deflections, defensive mistakes etc and he ain't going to get many of them against the top teams. Maybe time is right to change as we look like midfield will score more this season. Not sure about this German lad though, but he was highly regarded and scoring well before so maybe took a while to get back into his stride after his injury. Anyway our scouting teams are doing ok so far so will trust their judgement.

Good post as always BIGE. Personally I think it would be a backward step as it would be hard to replace a player who scored 30 goals last season, although £20m would be hard to turn down. If it was re-invested, then it would obviously make us stronger, but that's a big if. For now I would rather us keep him and re-assess in January although it might not be all down to Radz's resolve. If Wood has had his head turned by the bright lights of the Premier league and the money that comes with it, we will be powerless to keep him. I honestly don't think Woody will be as prolific in the perm for the same reasons you have stated. So in one way, it's good money for us, but I would sincerely hope we spend big to replace him. MM

Why sell Wood? if we get to PL we will be spending £20-£30m on a top striker anyway. Keep him at least until end of season his value will go up or at worst drop slightly to £15m that's the going rate these days for a top Championship striker.

The thing with wood is anyone can see that there's a revolution starting at ER, he will be a main part of that! he's had one good season, his first season with us he was quite poor, so perhaps he feels like he needs more time. he's the star at the moment, if he leaves to go to one of those three clubs he won't be, he'd be very different. It's not like Taylor, cook, Byram. Woods been to these prem clubs already and failed, maybe he'll realise he's onto a good thing and his development and chance to be a star is with us.
