Id rather have Lees play CB than Cranie, but i think hed do a decent job

Agree2 Disagree2

Not enough pace in midfield to get promoted. Throw in Pucheon and someone like Gradel and I would agree

Agree1 Disagree1

Warnock playes 4-2-3-1 in that formation I would love to see Kenny peltier lees Pearce Drury snoddy green Austin Varny Dobbie Becchio that team would win promotion.if we sell Ross I would be more than happy if we spent the money on S Dobbie best player in his position by a mile for Blackpool last year and Swansea when they went up.and Varney looked a player on the left in prem for pool I think we may go for puncheon as well

Agree2 Disagree0

Disagree Austin and Varney are quick, balance to the side is coming, 5 more signings. McCormack told he was going to be used like ALF at Reading last season, does not want to be a bit part player, NW not daft, 5 more Warnock signings and we will be flying, great back 5, midfield and strikers to go! People are thinking why are we linked with so many Portsmouth players when they got relegated, but they have some good individuals in their ranks, they just had money troubles that's why they went down. Varney looks a done deal and Pearce has signed, but there is one player nobody seems to have thought about signing.....Eirik Huseklepp, he would fit our side perfect, he can play up top or down the left or even AM. We need a left sided player, and Huseklepp is a good player, he'd do a job for us and would be a fan favourite, I think we should have a look at him! In Warnock I trust bring on the new season....PICKERS-LUFC

Believable8 Unbelievable1

If we managed to get Huesklepp it would be the best signing of the season. like you say an absolutely quality player, lets hope we can move for him.

TeejLUFC

Agree3 Disagree0

Word is SK Brann want him and need more money so they are selling Austin to Leeds.

Agree3 Disagree0

My client who's a Pompey season ticket holder tells me Huseklepp and Pearce were the ones to get. He said Pearce would 'tackle a bus if he had to' and that 'Erik the Viking' as he always calls him is a real footballer. Doesn't seem to reckon much to the others though - and he watches every home game. Varney's record isn't too scintillating so maybe he's right.

I hate to have to say this, but how the hell do you think we are getting away with 4 new players (and only selling one!) at least two trialists, two backroom staff and a positive interest in a Jamaican International, if Uncle Scrooge/Ken is still in charge?

Wake up to the new dawning - it's already happening!

We may not be buying Messi, Carroll, Tevez, etc, but we already have a serious improvement on last year and people WANTING to be a part of Leeds United?

No disrespect to Simon Grayson or anything, I'm a big fan of him and I was gutted when he was sacked, but its hard not to think about where we'd be if warnock had been our man a season or two ago, I'm very impressed with his idea of bring in "Leeds united type players" into the club and I really can't wait till next season

Yes, cause you were mate and I was stuck on a desert island with a bloke called Jack Sparrow (must have been a footballer himself, said he was captain). Kept claiming he knew how to get off that island as he'd got off before but all he did was get drunk on rum.
In the end I managed to get a lift on a passing boat with some English military fellows (who seemed keen to speak to Mr Sparrow).
By pure coincidence on the boat I bumped into Sheik Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa & some other middle eastern looking gentlemen. They were all linked arm in arm, with Leeds scarves on singing "Marching on Together".
I asked if they were the one's taking over Leeds. They said "All will become clear soon my friend". They then proceeded to push a guy who looked suspiciously like Ken Bates off the end of a plank. {Ed003's Note - Very good}

Hi eds, wonder if youa could give your honest opinion on takeover? Timescales etc. it cant be helping warnock with players now back. if takeover is close wudnt players like mccormack and white who warnock has made available due to contracts expiring would of been told cud get bigger contracts. Also if guys buying club have money to spend and have told warnock to do so, dont you think money being spent is very low even though buys seem good playerss.
Love to know ur thoughts {Ed045's Note - I think Ross and White have only had 1 season in which they have performed for us, and the fact that they are asking for more money is quite greedy. I don't think because we are supposedly going to better off financially that they deserve more money. I also think that the takeover will go ahead as planned and we will hear something by next friday at the latest. Of course my opinion only.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Yes i agree ed, it annoys me that if you have a good half a season like ross you can demand more money. And Aidy is over rated imo anyway id be happy with the compo, which would pay for a winger with pace and delivery. I'm encouraged by Warnock's remarks in terms of letting Clayton go and also in regards to Austin. He's said that he had a number of coals in the fire for centre midfield, one being Green, one being Austin and possibly a few others? He also said Austin was one of many we were looking at.

Looking at our squad, we need another centre back, at least one full back, two centre midfielders, a winger and possibly a striker.

I see a bit of negativity amongst fellow Leeds fans regarding players brought it and current linked players or even players that are training with the squad, what we need to remember is that regardless of who takes us over we do need a SQUAD and not just a superb starting 11 but players that can make a difference from the bench and/or experienced players who can see out a match, over the past 3 seasons we have been very good at not holding on to a lead once in front, I think the players NW is bringing in are ones that will ensure we hang on to our leads rather than throw them away. Also throughout the season we will have injuries and we need strong players who have been in these situations before to step up to the mark for us, again this type of player is not a 19 year old unproven type but an experienced type who has seen it all before, I am certainly in favour of what NW is currently doing at the club and remember there is still plenty of time left in the transfer window yet! Which would be a legitimate argument if we were signing better players than McCormack and Clayton. We're not though, are we? No one we have signed, Paddy Kenny included, is significantly, if at all better than who they are replacing. Really it looks like replacing like for like and getting the wage bill down by a few quid.

Agree1 Disagree4

Kenny is better than Lonergan

Drury is better than Robinson/White

Pearce is better than O'dea

Green is better than Brown

Is that not improvement?

TeejLUFC

Agree7 Disagree0

You re being a bit hasty to judge before we ve got closer to the end of the transfer window.
NW is building a squad not just a first 11. Although we d all prefer that we got signings sooner rather than later, it s a bit more complicated than going to the supermarket and picking the players you want from off the shelf.
Both Clayton and McCormack had good seasons, but don t actually think they re great players. Obviously NW agrees. Time will tell.
I agree to some extent. Drury and Green are good experienced players, but they don t get the pulse racing. Pearce is an excellent centre half and I also think Kenny will prove to be worth his considerable weight in gold. Commanding. Expect a much much tighter defense next year.
As others have said, if we get to the start of the season and we ve still not made enough decent signings, then we can start to panick. For now, sit back, enjoy the weather and wait patiently for the good
news.

Agree2 Disagree0

That's your view and I don't agree. However, please read what I wrote a little more carefully - not SIGNIFICANTLY better. I don't believe the new signings are that much better, if indeed they are better. If we were signing players who were loads better I'd be excited. As it is I'm underwhelmed and a bit perplexed.

Agree0 Disagree1

Whether they are a little better, a lot better, whatever remains to be seen.

I for one don't want to pay money to watch the shower of s**t that turned up on the pitch for a lot of games last season!

Some players did try, but many were left wanting when it came to the crunch....

.. it was heartbreaking to watch the team I have supported for over 40 years reduced to what I watched.

Blame Bates all you want, but he wasn't on the pitch, these guys were....

And before you judge these 'other players' have you actually watched them play all season - come to think of it, have you actually watched Leeds play all season?

Agree0 Disagree0

I have seen some of them play and I have a client who watches some of them every week - a Pompey season ticket holder. Of those we've signed or are said to be signing, the only one he rates is Pearce who he says is a fantastic signing. Can't see therefore why I should be getting too excited - according to him Varney is about a tenth as good as McCormack - and he's seen a lot more of Varney than anyone on this banter site.

Bahraini 'leading Leeds United takeover bid'
Posted on ยป Friday, July 13, 2012

SPECULATION is mounting in the UK over the potential takeover of Leeds United Football Club by a consortium led by Bahrain's Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

Online forums have been abuzz with rumours in recent days that the consortium is close to sealing a deal with the one-time English heavyweights, with several media outlets in the UK picking up the story.

Shaikh Abdulrahman, who is president of Al Najma Football Club, has been reported as being a long-time Leeds United fan and is believed to have been part of another group that failed in a bid to buy the club in 2003.

The Championship outfit released a statement at the back end of last month in which it confirmed that it had granted a period of exclusivity to enable a potential investor to carry out the appropriate due diligence.

The statement went on to say that while a confidentiality clause prevented it from releasing any further details, discussions with the investors had left club officials comfortable that they had the financial resources to support the club and that they would have no issues in satisfying the requirements of the English Football League.

Having spent the majority of its history in the top tier of English football, Leeds United has endured a series of financial problems over the last decade and was releagated from the Premier League in 2004 as a result.

Although waiting for news of the impending takeover is frustrating to say the least, I for one am still optimistic and positive.
You only have to look at the difference between Notts Forest and ourselves. Both clubs announced a few weeks ago that they were in the process of a takeover/investment and that a period of due diligence was underway.
On the face of it, it might appear that Forest may have acted quicker than us, but just look at what has happened during these periods of due diligence. Forest have lost numerous influential players (McCleary, Chambers, Lynch, etc.) and have signed precisely no-one, leaving them with only 18 players in their first team squad. Their new owners, led by Al Hasawi, were reported to be one of those rumoured to be interested in buying Leeds, but rumours soon surfaced that he was not as rich as he made out. And what's the first thing he does?.....sack the manager!
Compare that to Leeds. During the period of due diligence, we have continued to bring players in. OK, so they aren't multi-million pound signings, but they are all solid, consistent performers who actually want to play for Leeds. On top of this, Warnock is still here, and Snoddy, McCormack and White are still Leeds players.
I don't expect the new owners, whoever they may turn out to be, to be multi-billionaires, splashing out on players like Messi and Ronaldo, but we are a well run, profitable club and the future is bright.

I still keep reading posts that Leeds couldn't afford Claytons wage demands, but Huddersfield can, making us look like a 'small' club.

Can anybody actually prove what his wage demands were at Leeds, and also prove how much Huddersfield are now paying him in wages?

I tend to think he has joined Huddersfield because (as he publicly stated) he was 'wanted' there but not at Leeds, rather than because they are actually paying the wages he wanted whereas we wouldn't?

Just seems extremely ironic that despite all the thoughts of what a great player he is/was that there would appear to be only one offer for him, and that was from Grayson who actually signed him from us?

Whilst I do believe Huddersfield MAY have offered him more money than we were prepared to pay, I seriously cannot believe there were no other clubs that couldn't have matched or bettered their offer?

Or maybe nobody thought he was actually worth the alleged £400,000 we got for him?

Would like to put this matter 'to bed' as I am sick of peopl saying it was all because Leeds 'couldn't' afford him, whereas I believe it's more a matter of Warnock believing he could find a much better, more experienced player, ready to play their heart out for Leeds AND accept our wage structure?

Leeds4alongtime

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Clayton..... Man City, Leeds, Huddersfield.....
Doesn t take a genius to work out that this is not a player who s career is on the up.
You are right, if he was as good as he thinks he is, why was nt he attracting any offers from one of the Premiership teams or another one of the top championship teams?

Agree4 Disagree0

I think Clayton had delusions of grandeur. Good player in fits and starts, but if we could get the Jamaican from Norway for £300,000 I'd be well happy

Agree2 Disagree0

I'd still like to see some 'facts' about his wages at Leeds, his wage 'demands' at Leeds, and what he is now on at Huddersfield?

Leeds4alongtime

Agree2 Disagree0

Unbelievable how our fans turn on players when they leave. Your banging on about you want proof we couldn't match his wages yet you come out and say how come only one club came in for him if he was so good can you prove there was only one club after him - no you can't so don't rave about proof.

By the way Clayton is a quality footballer only went off the boil when Warnock came in because he was in beside the terrible Brown and given no freedom to play Warnock prefers everyone to run around like headless chickens rather than have a bit of flair and finesse and in all fairness that can work in a poor division like this but I can't see us being anywhere near playoffs this season unless we make some great signings pretty soon {Ed045's Note - Just out of curiosity, which clubs are on your CV?

Agree1 Disagree0

As far as i understand, there is a wage cap of 10,000 per week for first team regulars, and only exceptional players will be offered over that (Becchio, Snoddy). He wanted to match that, but Warnock didn't rate him as a first team regular. Huddersfield were prepared to offer him what he wanted. simple solution for all concerned. still unhappy they paid so little for the transfer, hope there are some heavy clauses for appearances/promotion in there too.

Agree0 Disagree1

Forget about him, he didnt want to play for Leeds

Agree0 Disagree2

" Huddersfield were prepared to offer him what he wanted. simple solution for all concerned."

But how do you know this for sure then?

Clayton has said himself he moved somewhere he was 'wanted' rather than somwhere he'd be paid what he wanted?

Leeds4alongtime

Agree0 Disagree1

Millions of players would play well in a free roll to be fair.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Unbelievable how our fans turn on players when they leave."

I am not 'turning' on anyone, I am just trying to ascertain the facts, in case we can actually shut a certain wet spam blog site up......

.... having said that it's already gone mighty quiet on there, so hopefully my complaint to the site providers about the lies and hearsay being posted on there will have already done the trick - well, I can dream.....

Agree0 Disagree0

"you prove there was only one club after him - no you can't so don't rave about proof."

The question is, can you prove that there WAS more than one team?

I actually thought Clayton was okay and should possibly have been kept - had he accepted the offer he was made.

I only ask if anyone has any proof as I am sure we are all sick of people on here saying 'FACT' at the end of their post with no proof whatsoever about what they are posting?
