Hi ed13 and all other eds it's On news now (edit if not allowed to mention) SOZ if so! Bid been accepted by Rotherham for agard on Bristol city's twitter saying he's off to us and they were in for him 1st Rotherham have been getting strikers in on loan today as I've been following their sites to get some upturn of news now all falling into place . agard do yourself a favor guy do not get TOO GREEDY IF YOU REALLY WANT TO PLAY FOR US . THEN MC will get you in ASAP
LEEDS FOR LIFE

{Ed013's Note - If Leeds are serious about getting him then Agard will choose Leeds. I can't see him moving down a division. Anyone can have a bid accepted, but the player doesn't have to go there. This is Rotherham's chance of some cash as I believe he is out of contract in a year. As for Bristols interest being first, I seem to remember a certain Massimo Cellino scouting Agard last season}

Correct ed13, you font of all knowledge lol, glad I ain't loaned a fiver in past of you! do you know if he supported us? I thought I read it somewhere (maybe it's to much euphoria I'm on ) or the nice dandy merlot lol you heard owt from you're end about the poss deal would be great to have him in side for Saturday here's hoping!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - I heard that a fee has been agreed, not sure who he supports though}

Word coming out of Rotherham is they have received no bids from Leeds yet, just Bristol City, make you wonder why people make claims like this, might still happen of course, hope so.

Must watch great interviews with Billy Sharp and Liam Cooper on OS!
Liam Cooper : 'It's an honour to play for this club' - now THAT'S what we wanna be hearing more of!

Great news yesterday, hopefully a sign of better things.
Does it mean we aren't going for adryan now?he seems quality!
I know fifa 14 isn't real, but I signed him on it ages ago and if he lives up to the potential on that he would be an amazing addition!really hope we get him!

Just wondering after all the new additions and players leaving where does everyone think we'll finish at the end of the season? Personally I'm thinking 8th or 9th.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

7th for me, 3rd next season

Agree0 Disagree0

12th. I'd be delighted with top 10

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2014 18:04:31
The championship is more about consistency and team work than it is quality. If we can find those ingredients we could finish 6th.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think for us to be pushing towards the top 6 we would need a quality centre midfielder, obviously we may have just about spent our transfer budget but if there was anything left that's the 1 position we could do with strengthening. we fell short there in a lot of games last season.

Hard to judge as of now because transfer window still open. Ask us again in 2.5 weeks.

I've got an eerrry feeling that if there's not progress reported on the agard move by tonight that it more than likely will not happen. Got me thinking when they said they'd been talking since weekend. Surely it must be us holding it up as Cellini might not want to dive in. Can't see Rotherham turning down a fee now when he doesn't want a new contract too. Hope there's an update later or I'm just totally wrong :/

Come on Leeds, you HAVE to beat Boro or I can't go to work on Monday.

I work in an office FULL of smoggies and it's been bad enough all week after the embarassing show at Millwall.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How do you think I feel, I live by Millwall and all my mates and family are millwall most of them season ticket holders. this week has not been fun

Agree0 Disagree0

I get stick at least twice a season!Have done for few years now. I live in Derbylol. Although I got a bit of a break after the draw last season. Here's wishing for that too be an upturn in our fortunes against the rams. as it has cost me a few quid!

OK, while always remaining positive, I did make some negative comments when we lost out to Viviani and Sorensen - BUT for me, whatever results may be (and they may not be too brilliant until the team has time to gel), MC has more than demonstrated his commitment and passion for the club - something we have not had for a long, long time. I still think Sam (and possible Smith) may well go - but I have every confidence that MC will continue to do his best for our beloved club. And we know no longer will our best players be given away to make a quick buck. He will make mistakes, say silly things, make promises that he can't necessarily keep - but I do that too. I'll be happy with some good football this season, a finish in the top half and never in danger of relegation. I think we might finally have a group of players who might actually WANT to play for the club (Very impressed with Billy Sharp's comments) - so let's look forward to some GENUINE badge kissing, and who knows what they can achieve!

Well done BRILLIANT post mate and like you I think MC has LUFCs best interests at heart whatever roller coaster rides we may encounter ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Here here mate
Last year mccorm would have been sold for peanuts
Just goes to show that if you're in it for the long haul. U don't have to sell!

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy i'm a cellino fan, but I really hope he doesn't turn in to another bates on years to come after the faith you alone have put in him aha, I hope your right though with your incredible optimism!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates? Am I the only person who thinks it's possible that he came to ER to try and deliberately destroy the club (allegedly!)?

Agree0 Disagree0

Harte

Andy is not alone I think both of us have been saying all summer MC is the man. He doesn't need to rape us he just wants his team to compete at the highest levels. Yes he may be an ego-maniac but who cares

Long live the king MOT

I hope so too mate I genuinely feel MCs got LUFC at heart but if he don't get promoted in the next 2-3yrs who knows what will happen!

I for one am seriously hoping that this agard deal gets tied up and finalised as soon as possible. I'd hate to lose out on him after wacky Wednesday.

Wow! That was some Wednesday, now I guess it is time to ship out the below average and average players that have been replaced.

Personally I think Hunt, Norris, Poleon and Tonge should go, I'd like to see Morison be given a real chance, but if this isn't going to happen then he can go too.

As for anymore signings I think we really do need a good solid defensive midfielder, not one that runs all the way up the pitch and can't get back to cover in time, one that actually does the defensive part. If Austin managed to not attempt 40 yard passes, didn't bother trying to shoot and sat back when the team went forward then he could do a solid job, but let's be honest, he can't help himself.

All in all though, a very positive day yesterday, I guess it was required after a disastrous performance against Millwall, still onwards and upwards, Boro next, let's get 3 points.

I agree about Hunt & Norris. Poleon is not the finished article, but I struggle to see him getting in front of Sharp, Smith, Doukara & Ajose. As for Tonge he's been one of the better players through pre-season and what I saw on Saturday and Tuesday. I don't see Austin fitting into the midfield, but being fair along with Tonge he was one of the better players last Saturday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you Sussex, but I'd add Warnock to your list - he's an absolute liability, and always has been…. slow, clumsy, ponderous and skill-deficient. He's probably anise bloke, but a lamentable footballer. Get rid!

Agree0 Disagree0

JT - Tonge wasn't an initial selection to get rid of, but with his age, and the players we have that will be ahead of him to me it's just another wage going out the door.

Marktenjag - Yeah, again, I had Warnock down but with only Taylor as a recognisable left back this position is pretty weak, if Berardi can step up and play left back too then I agree, Warnock could go.

Mornin siblings. Well, having just resurfaced from a huge hangover and depression from that abysmal performance on saturday, I am beginning to think it was a good result! Had we won, nothing would have happened, but it was the catalyst for immediate action from Massimo, anyone who doubted him surely cannot criticise now. He has shown that yes, he may make mistakes, but he will not hesitate to correct them. Love him or hate him there is no doubt he is committed to our club, he has done all he said he would and more. Yipppeeeeee

It is great to come on here and see positive posts the last few weeks some people have been complaing saying negative things We are now moving forward and after a decade of bad things we are moving forward and I am looking forward to it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Jim
Its a pity the same people WONT come back on and say well done to MC after all the moaning they did. Same people probably trying to think of something else to moan about, maybe they will jump out of the woodwork if we lose to boro ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

They'll be back Andy as soon as we lose another game talking about relegation. Some people don't see the bigger picture. We are building for the future for the first time in years. When we go up will will be well equipped to stay up and this is reflected in the majority of transfer dealings so far.

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not have considered myself anti-cellino but I was definately on the fence. This was not because of the work he had done to get the club financially stable but because I felt it was at the cost of the team. Although football is a business it is also an entertainment business where revenues can grow through getting bums on seats. The actions taken by Cellino since the Millwall game should be applauded, he say the issues and did something about it. We may not necessarily have a team that will win promotion but we now have the makings of a squad that can compete which is all I personally wanted. Suffice to say that I am now off the fence

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to say that after a decade of disaster, there have been so many positive indicators and outcomes in the last few weeks that I'm getting giddy with optimism. Just one nagging doubt about attracting good-quality players though…given what we can offer in wages (and understandably so) - will guys we want, like Agard, be interested? Likewise Sam Byram…I'm surprised he's not been offski before now when teams like Sunderland and Southampton are putting temptation his way in the form of 50k-a-week+ instead of what he's on at ER …10k mebbes? 99.9% of players these days have only one loyalty - money - and that includes well-known badge kissers with the initials RM. MOT!

Notts
Before MC took over I was hopping from one side of the fence to the other, I was never sure if I wanted him or not.
I am man enough to admit I had concerns but after he came clean about the level of debt we were in and he paid it off then I realised his heart was in it mate.

Attackers

Doukara - pace
Smith - aerial
Sharp - goal scorer
Ajose - pace
Agard - pace
Morrison - all rounder
Poleon - pace
Hunt - experience

if we manage to pull off Agard would that be squad complete or do we still need more?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wingers, more wingers. can't have enough wingers.

And a 20 goal striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

In all honesty, I think we are near enough a good balanced squad. I do believe we are a little top heavy boasting 6 strikers:

Smith, Morison, Hunt, Poleon, Doukara, Ajose and possibly Agard

Ohhh, and Sharp of course.

But I think this will sort its self out. Doukara, Poleon, Ajose and Agard getting used down the flanks.

Hunt and Morison are just excess.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agard, Smith, Doukara, Anjose are four good strikers who give real options.

Loan out Poleon so he can learn at another teams expense.

Try to move on Morrison as he's never looked half as good playing for Leeds as when he has played against Leeds.

Hunt should never play for Leeds again - move him on, put him in a non playing role, pay up his contract or just give Hockaday a clear instruction not to pick him ever again.

Is it wrong to be frustrated by the lack of signing this morning? After several years of bleakness, yesterday (Wonderful Wednesday) was such an exiting and positive milestone for the club. We want more!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I can't believe no one has signed yet this morning, its criminal}

ED I signed in this morning ooops ya mean players lol

{Ed013's Note - ;-)

14 Aug 2014 08:23:32
Now that we have signed a striker and MC is looking at another 2 forwards the writings on the wall for a few departures but who!

Hunt? (Never found his GOOD Reading form and confidence is shot now even though he always put the effort in)

Poleon? (Never fulfilled his potential even after many reserve appearances and loan spells in lower leagues, without his pace would be playing EVERY Sunday morning)

Smith? (Only thing that frightens defences is his height, his movement and poachers instincts are non-existant, won't mention his first touch, oh I did lol)

IMO if we got another DECENT forward in I'd let ALL 3 go, we need fresh lads, fresh start and forwards that run at defences and scare the s***e out of them if we want to win promotion,
Which none of the above 3 can do if we are honest with ourselves!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Before someone notices I didn't include ole-Morrison. Classed him as a Milwall player as we have not really seen him play for us. don't think his heart is in LUFC but willing to give him a fair crack at the whip if he's interested but wouldn't be over upset if he went either ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Morrison did well pre season. Worked hard and rose above the boos to score twice and get cheers. Agree with the other 3. Should all go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Andy,
wouldn`t be disappointed if Smith went to millwall.
Hunt can go anywhere he likes and Morrison just not got the passion for our club.
Sharp and Dakoura for me with Poleon and Agard in reserve sounds like a decent strikeforce

Being mcs number 1 fan, can I say let's hope he picks our final 2 additions in the window carefully!
Could make diff between mid and upper table!
God, this is so much better than last decade, and just think if hock can't win a few games with this squad how easy will the one way trip to the car park be?

14 Aug 2014 01:16:01
Okay so who has actually seen Agard play? Is he good? It is very easy to get caught up in the hype of a player who scored a bunch from right wing in a lower league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

League 1 ain't a million miles from ours last season wolves pete cov bristol shff u half that division could hold there own yeovil nearly did so in my opinion he did very well to get that amount from the wingbring him on don't see us paying 2.5m for him though haha leeds4life

Scored 26 more than Hunt last season. 24, bloody quick and a Leeds fan. Need I say more?
