well played tonight
loved baker proper mid, busy good end product and don't think he gave the ball away
not sold on harrision loved how he wanted the ball and confidence to take people on but end product and ability to beat man bit iffy
lack of cover worrying with alin, phillps and saiz playing ideally we want cover to rest
great goal bamford
like blackman as a keeper
not sold on shackleton, good player but bit lightweight and his panic cost us there goal. potential but worry he will cost us if he plays too much this season
3 wins in three first manager to do that since armfeild. long may it contiune.

First full game for a number of these players. Big step up for Shackleton, but I thought he did well. Harrison too is trying to do the right things. Good to have a cup run to give some of these players a regular runout.
Pontus looked a bit of the pace tonight. Good for them all to have this run out, makes them more likely to be ready if needed.
Surprised, he didn’t rest Saiz or at least bench, Edmondson, Dalby or Stevens.

I thought shackleton was one of our best players!
Shows how we all see things differently.

i thought shacks played well and has a lot of potential but think looking forward this season he was little lightweight and he clearly panic when taking the throw in which cost the goal, he will learn from that. classy player going forward and lots of quality but would worry if he was in starting line up against team like millwall they would bully him and slaughter him I think
glad he has signed and very good player though.

Millwall would not be a game for him Bermo, you're right, too young for that yet. But I bet if he came on when we were two up, he'd show a thing or two, and not shirk the physicality.

Just saw Bamfords goal. Absolute quality. Pinch me. And Bristol City lost. That's good as I play golf with 4 season ticket holders. I never realised gloating feels so good. Yet so wrong. MOT.

Saiz is the surprise! All the loaners are in with Pearce and Shackleton also starting, Roberts as well. Shaunessy and de bock are the only non a teamers on the bench! Interesting.

2-0 after 35 mins
Bamford and Saiz
I’d be removing Saiz at halftime if stays that score.

Maybe once it was apparent there were 20k coming for a first round league cup tie, they felt the need to put out a stronger team? Just a thought.

Am I being to premature ( as usual ) by saying I don't think we need a plan b this season. I think it's every one else that does. At the moment it looks like they can't deal with our movement. Saiz and Roofe have been excellent.
I don't think the B will leave. He may get interest from elsewhere but he strikes me as someone with pride. And as long as we treat him right he will stay the course.
Then when if we get promoted I think he will at least stay for our first season.

think bit prem mate, everyone needs a plan b as we will have an off game everyone does, that said I think our plan b is in our plan a. when we play we have lots of ticka tacka short passing and triaganlge s but also not shy about going long and direct (hoof ball) city do this as well, what makes the ticka tacka work is the fact the opposition live in fear of a long ball which they know we hit which is what makes us so effective.
the yorkshire derbys, the rotherhams 11 men behind the ball and teams like millwall who fight will be our test.
as much as derby and stoke are great they played to our strenghts and I think derby are poor defensivly so think they flattered us a little
that said we are still playing well so MOT.

Agree with Bermo, although we are looking good at the moment, the "park the bus" and "kick them off the park" teams will provide a real test. Local Derbys too will be difficult, hope Bielsa has the right advisors when it comes to info on the clubs that look on us as their cup final. That said, I am more confident now than la season and that too was a great start.
Aus, the promised land may await but let's just whisper about it for now.

agree more positive this season (just) this year big difference is our imports have one more year experience and our new signigns this year all know the league which makes a big difference, so we are far more expereinced.
my worry is burn out, I do worry come xmas we won't be able to buy a win! hope I am wrong mind.

I’m more worried about the kick them off the field teams than the park the bus. If you park the bus, you don’t go anywhere and we will get some draws. It’s not going to be easy to park up against us for 90 mins, if Saiz doesn’t break you down we have Douglas and Hernandez to chip in with set pieces!
But the kick em brigade will cause injuries and possible retaliation which together cost us dearly last year. The squad will struggle if we lose people for those reasons.
Although after watching the under 23s last night, I think during the year a lot of these guys will be able to do a job from the bench if needed during the year.

Agree with the comments regarding the kick them off the park teams. Last wèk saw Derby homing in on Saiz and this was only through frustration. What will it be like when teams like Millwall actively target him.

glad to see so many be psotivie about the under 23s we will need a few to step upto the plate over the season so this is very psotive also shows orta probably ain't as bad as many said
with the kick off the park teams like millwall it is not so much they are dirty and focus on saiz more they out muscle us not only playing saiz out of the game but also out fighting the defence hence we let in four goals at home to millwall then five home goals to cardiff in two weeks, we need to be able to fight in all areas of the pitch but I think this year we will have more of a stomach for that.
