I had to eat my words. After first half I was resigned to another defeat and awful play but to be fair we dug in and limited borough. good effort, good work rate and billy looks good, cooper looked quite solid and players to come back in squad . I think we will have to really dig in this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Same here mate my words have been eaten (well a little) when brough goal went in I was screaming and shouting and mugging everyone off. lot better though and grew in game. still long way to go but I will sleep better tonight that I have since we signed the hock (keep waking up and checking it ain't true like a bad dream that hock is manager. that said it might go from nightmare to great dream. who knows)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 21:04:47
Am I a bit harsh or do others think Rudi is not good enough. Time and time again he have the ball away and put the pressure back on! I thought this last season and nothing has changed my mind. I think Murphy (has improving to do) Mowatt when fit and Bianchi would be better? Overall though good improvement shown - Cooper looks a find and Warnock was immense. Well done lads and well done coach.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No - not harsh. He gives possession away all the time. No point winning the ball if you're going to give it straight back.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 22:18:47
I don't think he is good enough. I would have started Cook instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cooper looked solid and comfortable bringing the ball out of defence. Agree Austin gives the ball away too often, I had high hopes on Murphy but he doesn't have much impact upon the game, Cook looks really good I would play him ahead of Austin and Murphy.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're not being harsh about Austin mate. He's awful, puts others in trouble with back passes to others in bad positions. He's a liability tbh, we either revert to 4-4-2 or find another as defensive midfield. So frustrating wanting to break fast but Austin slows it down with wayward passes. Sure he tackles but mainly because his 1st touch is so awful. Don't want to see him, Hunt, Norris White anywhere near this team now. Time to cut them loose if possible

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin and murphy I think just aren't good enough at this level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think people are abit harsh on Rudi, defensively he was excellent today and he always give 100%. His passing is a tad sketchy to say the least. He's like a younger Michael Brown in my eyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murphy like pearce. how often did pearce get slagged and not look good enough then today next to proper defended pearce was great. put murphy next to someone good a proper player and ball winner and murhpy will look like a different player who I think is good enough. Mcdermot don't spend 1 mill on a bad player

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO
Thought Austin did ok today, his passing is shocking but Boro tried to penetrate down the middle and ran into Rudi. Holding in front of the back 4 suited him and took the pressure OFF the C-backs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Murphy will be a top player but he needs some better players around him. Anyone who thought he was poor yesterday was watching a different game to me. Patchy I thought but when he was good he was very good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Axeman
I like Murphy but think yesterday he was poor, giving the ball away far too much. I agree he's not got much in midfiled around him at the moment but if he was as talented as people make out then he should shine and stand out from the rest.
Not doing it at the moment i'm afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 20:05:29
Always liked warnock but seemed poor but with a good back 3 with him and not having to cover for sheer dross he looked superb today, a real leader and a defensive lynchpin, great result lads

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Most people who went to the game today are saying we are lacking something.
When Mowatt broke into the team last season he seemed like a cultured midfielder that could be something special. Fair enough he faded towards end of season.
Does anyone know why he isn't getting a look in this season?
. PS I might be a bit biased as he went to school with my son.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hes just coming back from injury so weeks behind fitness wise mate

16 Aug 2014 21:04:44
He's injured. Just getting back to playing now.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 22:17:03
Yes we are lacking g something. a team that has been together for a run of games. Of course we are not going to be Barca tiki taka, she we have a new strike force, a new half of midfield, and a new defensive partnership.

Get a grip! We BEAT Boro 2day, no luck but we actually stopped them playing and deserved the win. This team and the likely additions, can be a real dark horse!

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a grip? come on gibsy nice to win but not dark horses not just yet. remember they did get good goal if it of stood what may of been? we had to shots on target one of them split so still long long way to go. not all doom and gloom but not dark horses surely. if ref got it right it might of been played two lost two. we got win that's all that counts but i'm not getting my going up campaige out of fridge just yet

This game got better and better throughout. Started a bit slow but we were solid in defence and Austin put himself about quite well in the first half and warnock was awesome all afternoon. I did think Pearce defended very well but struggled a bit up field playing on the right and favouring his left foot-I hope he can overcome this as cooper also left footed. I liked the look of doukaka and Bianchi looks classy but both need time to really shine.
I am really going to try and not criticise players as I think we should be positive- last season I think the main problem was fans reactions getting to players. The owner is clearly trying to sort finances out and is detailed in his new buys and we need to give all those selected a chance to grow in confidence and concentrate on teamwork.
Lastly Sharp did well scoring with a tricky chance and he clearly loved playing in front of a passionate crowd

Great team performance today, thought players grew in confidence as game went on especially second half. Agree with teeth post, encourage the players don`t knock them, you could see what todays win meant to the players at the final whistle.
Well done lads and well done Hock, it is clear he has the players onside and he has them playing football.

I take back any doubts I had, it`s work in progress!

Marching on together, we're going to see you win. We are so proud, we shouted out loud, we love you Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!. their you go boys. Yes, Mick is giddy after a win but a lot on here had us relegated after 1 defeat. Let's hear from you now. Well, what you waiting for? As Jim Royle would say "going down my arse"!

MM

PS - well played Jason Pearce - captains performance and well deserved MOM for Warnock.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Compeltly different performance. nothing in common with leeds of last week who were so s@@t. today we shows passion and pride which is all we can ask. yes it should of been 1-1 and our defending for there 'goal' was school boy. without warnock they would of had two goals and we only had one half effort on goal which there keeper stupidly spilt. was it great today no nowhere near. but it was so much better. men who played for the shirt and fans got what we derserved. I don't expect brilliance but hate being embarraced by the team. today made me proud. no I still think hock should not have job and he will have to go a long way to convince me otherwise but today was a good start in proving me wrong. more of the same lads MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Mick. If we can just get the balance in midfield right we'll do well. Rudy also did well in front of the back four.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rudy did well? ok.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also mick I love your enthuisam but just read your post again. after one terrible defeat a few of us (me included) said team against millwall would struggle to stay up after just one defeat. then after one lucky win, your giddy and saying going down my arse. let's hear from us now. is this not the same reaction I gave just from different sides of the coin? I mean glad we won but it was still a far cry from the revie team. love your view and agree to an extent but no wonder you call yourself mad mick

How come nobody on here who was at the game has mentioned that when Poleon came on for the brilliant but injured Douk we struggled until Cook came on for 10 mins or so and looked like a full International.
If he isn't a future England player I will eat my plastic season ticket.
He lifted the whole team with his intelligent and commanding play.
Rock on Massimo Cellino and Hock.
MOT especially today.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's because tonge came on for doukara and he played well

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 20:41:19
We were awful when Douk came off until the kid Cook came on.
He turned it all around with probing runs across the park and set up the win.
He is like a Beckham without the free kicks and I pray MC will hold onto him
Leeds United are blessed with great kids.
I repeat why hasn't anyone else seen this.
Sharp,Warnock, silvestri (who clearly doesn't know how long a keeper is allowed to hold the ball) were brilliant.
Douk was tireless
Even our ex captain deserved his ovation.
We are on the way back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pagliara mate, what are you talking about pal? You must be pissed allday long from our earlier good result!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 17:28:24
Enjoyed the performance today after last weeks non-event. I thought Cooper had a great debut and showed why Cellino believed he was worth £600k, but what a game Warnock had! MoM for me by a mile and proved a lot of the doubters wrong, if he plays with that amount of energy all season it'll be like signing a new left back. Billy Sharp did what Billy Sharp does, right place right time and scores the winner! I'm sure he won't care about the yellow card. Bianchi was solid and always looking for a forward pass and Doukara worked worked hard for the team. If I had to be critical of anyone I thought Byram lacked confidence and didn't look like a £5m player (maybe the speculation is getting to him?) Bring on Brighton!

Bermondsey White, there's that Hock league win we weren't going to get. More wins to come. You know why? Because good players make good managers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe and I hope so. good players make good managers. great manager make average players great. look at pulis at palace and holloway at millwall. I hope hock takes us up. I am leeds fan and want us to do well. just hock needs to do a lot to turn me round after what he did before he somehow got this job. MC got some great players. hopefully he saw something in hock that I have missed and hock will join our list of great managers not poor ones. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Also we had a share of luck. their goal should of stood and we had no attemps on goal other than one average long range shot, which their keeper somehow split. but we played with passion. played like we cared. we made mistakes and was not great. lots of hoof ball but I don't care about that I just want a team to do our great fans justice. even if we lose. lose with pride. today we won with pride which makes me very very happy

Agree0 Disagree0

Good result the lads needed it might help them settle down. Not a great game and we were a bit lucky at times. Warnock played well MOM for me. Need something else in midfield and defence will be better once Berardi and the Beast are in there. Doukara will just get better. Nice to go home in a good mood wife will wonder what I been up to. Just got home from Todays game,
Players worked hard and ground out a result, just shows what difference a proven goal scorer can do.
I'm pleased for the players and fans but more so for Hockaday as he has had a bit of a bashing from the fans and media, I was doubtful of his ability myself but I hope Todays performance gives us a good platform for going forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have bashed hock possibly more than anyone. and todays performance was exact opposite of last week. one only game but still such a improvment. hope hock contiunes to make me look very silly. I will buy that man a beer if we play like that every week. I will even start a hockaday fan club

16 Aug 2014 17:00:11
Interesting how we all see different things. Today, defending a bit iffy at time, they should have had a goal. We nicked it at the end. Am of the same opinion as last season Austin is s**te.
I though Murphy was trying to get on the ball and make things happen made some errors but ok. Warnock was definitely our man of the match, some great tackles. Billy needs more help up front. Still work in progress in this revolution at the club, think top 10 is achieveable.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree tewey 100%. Austin is awful. Cannot pass from A to B and when he does it usually puts a team mate under pressure. Murphy made mistakes but on other days he will be more effictive as at least he tried to get midfield going. Not sure bout Bianchi yet, he seems afraid to get stuck in and feel Tonge needs to start at this moment in time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Austin did ok not brilliant but ok, for me Murphy was s***e. can't remember how many times he had possesion tried to pass it and straight to a boro player, relating to us back pedaling under pressure.

Well done Leeds 3 points.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2014 16:28:22
Great result today. Not the greatest performance in the world but doesn't matter when you get three points especially against a team fancied as dark horses for promotion.

Almost all of our new signings seem to have a bit about them.

Silvestri seems to command his area well and looks very confident but wasn't tested today but really like the look of him.

Cooper looks like a ball playing centre half very composed and looks for a pass but I think he took too many touches today at times but done very well.

Bianchi love the way this guy plays I think he's better than the Championship was quite enough today but you can see his glimpses of quality and when he settles in I think he'll be a major player for us.

Ajose didn't think he was good enough before we signed him and showed nothing to change my mind but hope to be wrong.

Sharp pure and simple will get plenty of goals can see him being a fans favourite despite a lot of criticism he was getting here before we signed him (Chris Wood Who) :)

Doukara very impressed and surprised with this guy some very tidy touches today he could be a real surprise in the Championship.

The biggest disappointment today for me was Poleon getting a game despite being a product of the youth system and it's great seeing the youth getting a chance I honestly for the life of me just don't see what he brings to us he wouldn't get into my local Aitricity team and that's no word of a lie.

The most pleasing thing for me today was when Hockaday brought on Tonge for the injured Doukara he could have easily brought on Smith which is what I thought he was going to do and just pump every ball into the box but he didn't he kept calm and kept the team trying to play football (I know there wasn't much but at least there's an attempt to play).

Overall delighted and Swansea beat the if Brook wins tonight it'll be the perfect day :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with your analysis JIM, would like to see Cook and Tonge start in place of Austin and Murphy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like cook but he is too young to start. he will burn out also great player but not a proper man yet and will get kicked to bits if playing full 90 week in week out. prefer to see him play 10 minutes here 30 minutes there then think next year we will really see him kick on. remember we also got benadic who is yet to play he might be tastey

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 16:08:24
Home from the match now and must say I can definitely see that light at the end of the tunnel!
Yes we were a bit shakey and nervy and weren't brilliant but we struggled through. The team worked hard and deserved the result. Special praise to Warnock who saved our bacon a couple of times.
Bearing in mind half the team are new I'm growing in optimism for the future.
To be honest, even the fans took a while to get going but like the team, grew into the match. I certainly didn't have this optimistic feeling this time last year, so that can only bode well.
MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definate cause for optomisim. look at MC and his record. he did great with small team now he has bigger club (or what could be bigger club) he clearly has an eye for player. and while I hate his choice of coach he mgiht know something I dont. he cares about football and more improtantly cares about himself. his own ego will not let him fail and that is a great quality, he is bat s crazy but I think that adds to his appeal. think he will get er back and can see us going up soon, certainly not keep selling best players for f all. why wasnt he here years ago. imagine if MC had johnson, beckford, snodgrass, schimelce, howson plus other I may of forgot he would of kept them of sold for a lot of money. we'd already be back in prem

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 15:46:48
Can't fault the commitment today, but we do lack that bit of quality that in the end will make all the
difference. Chuffed for Sharpy as he was feeding off scraps until then. at the end of the day it's all about the 3pts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2014 15:15:36
Great three points today, still lacking a little something though. Fantastic graft none the less by the lads and getting more excited every day. going to be a fun season! Billy sharp already got more goals than Ross ;) oh and on other news who said millwall will be the burnley of this season? There beating Fulham now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

Millwall better not be, my life would not be worth living if wall went up! think they will fall off after xmas, they don't have sqaud when players like marquis have to come in and do a job. as always they will lose at er like we always lose at the den. do love holloway though man is class and great manager

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2014 15:05:19
well what a change from last week, the players today looked like they cared. MC's sigings look good which you would expect as his history of signings is pretty strong. glad to see leeds fans cheer billy and billy get goal after working hard. warnock was mom for me two great blocks and dealt with borough best player. I did feel him and tounge got some stick unfaily in last few weeks. few will jump on my back after my hock comments but I did see imporvment. they should of had a goal and for that goal was comedy defending, if not for warnock they would of had another two. marking still bad, vunerable from set plays and created nothing other than goal which only came through keeper error. Still we played with passion today and that is all I ask every week. Still don't like hock he still has a lot to prove in my eyes but this win will keep me off his back for a few weeks, respect is earnt not given but hopefully he will prove me wrong. Also feel sorry for peacre like him but think he will suffer playing on right fair play for him giving all and if he makes a mistake try not to get on his back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Created nothing? We nearly scored after the first minute! Yeah I admit we did pretty much F all after that but we grafted hard against a team that will be up there come the end of the season. Now is the time to play the new Leeds United as we will get stronger as we progress. For me, Pearce was awesome and only bettered by Warnock (nice to hear from his doubters). I have always said, like others on here, Millwall was only 1GAME, when everyone including you Bermondsey has us relegated already. It would be nice to hear your thoughts now. For me, I still believe and think we will improve as we go on on on. come on let's hear from you hypocrites now?

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah mick I did that is why I have made this post. saying how different it was. slagged us off this week praised us this. the truth probably lies inbetween both. we did create nothing really mick be honest. there keeping did nothing but spill a half arsed shot from distance but sharp followed in and scored. sign of good team to score when not playing great and I don't think we were great today. don't remember there keeper doing anything other than that. Warnock saved us twice (always rated warnock) pearce played very well just hope playing wrong side of defence doesn't harm him as he don't deserve this. we did play hard and grafted unlike last week so i'm happy. you jumping on one win is bit like me jumping on one loss wouldn't you say? I will say this and anyone seen both games let me know thoughts. we were worse last week than we were good this (if that makes sense) but progress and most importantly passion. if we improve as much every week we will win league because we was so so much better. I hope hock proves me wrong. today he got a team battling. even if defence was still bad at set plays and marking and our defending for their goal was schoolboy. still lot better if me being a hypocrite means leeds going up hupocrite me all the way to the prem

Poleon, if you truely aspire to be a regular starter then take a good hard look at Billy Sharp. He chased lost causes for the full 90 mins and got his reward. No room for lazy players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't have a go at Poleon, have a go at Hockaday to put Poleon on the pitch for 90 minutes, then criticise him?

Sharp missed a sitter and scored a great goal, no problems with that, Poleon (yet again) was givem some time at the end of the game?

I will be the first to criticise Poleon if he wastes 90 minutes on a pitch, but yet again a new player is given preference?

What the hell did Ajose do today except keep getting pushed off the ball, and roll over and then get up looking for a foul?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ajose did nothing today but Poleon is not the answer. Please take off you Poleon tinted glasses off, he is bone idle

Agree0 Disagree0

Poleon has to earn the right to play 90 mins. Been in the reserves and done nothing, been out on loan to LOWER division teams and done nothing.

Why should he be given 90 mins!

Agree0 Disagree0

So maybe you can explain how Ajose has earnt the right to play for 90 minutes then?

Never donned a Leeds shirt and suddenly on the pitch from the start of his Leeds career?

I'm not saying Poleon is the answer, but at least give the guy a chance for 90 minutes?

Why does he have to EARN that and others just walk straight in without ever having to do so?

Agree0 Disagree0

Stupid comment about Hockaday not playing Poleon for 90 mins, clearly Sharp and Doukara are streets ahead of Poleon.

Hockaday looks to have the players on board, so they must believe he is credible and competent.

Hockaday is employed as head coach and appears well respected inside the game. Don't forget Massimo is nobody's fool - he's probably one of the most knowledgeable and committed owners in the game.

Time will prove the best signing at Leeds in the last 20 years will be Massimo!

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds4
Im not arguing with you mate youve obviously got a soft spot for Poleon, he's had his chance mate and NOT done anything whilst in reserves or out on loan at lower league level.
Now Ajose is having his chance and IMO he don't look much better than Poleon at the moment but deserves his chance as does ANYONE.

All the Warnock knockers must be lying low!
He Had a great game, Murphy's passing was VERY poor to say the least, Ajose looked poor, Pearce looked a bit more confident at the back, Austin did what he had to do & Byram was half hearted IMO.
We started VERY poor no shape or formation but the confidence grew n grew and we actually tried to play football the last half hour.
Work in progress and I think the 3 points should settle a few early nerves. Think we will finish mid table and build for next season MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Played well today first look at new boys we were strong at the back warnock earned his stripes today and then there was billy right at the end I did think the passes in the attacking areas were poor at times but they have had a week to gel so what can we expect in a month or too exciting times ahead and doukara wow can't wait for next match lufc4life

Agree0 Disagree0

Great to win but don't go overboard Ausman, we defended for the majority of the game and pinched the game. Not a tactical masterclass but ten out of ten for effort.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah one win, to knee jerk over it is as bad as my knee jerk over one loss is it not? I think we improved and showed passion that's all I ask. They did score a goal and we created little, our defending in parts was still comedy but going the right way. This win will get me off hocks back for a while, his rep deserves mocking but this win rightly buys him time as we played a lot lot better than last week. still not good enough for me and last week a disgrace which I have said. this week a lot better, only one game but still a lot lot better well done to the players and to hock. long may it continue

Agree0 Disagree0

3 points won, all you can ask for. Lucky to have their goal disallowed, but I'll take that. Cooper brought a presence to the back four. Easy to pick out the faults with Austin and Murphy but new system and new positions to get used to. All in all everyone still getting the feel for each other but at least we're up and running now.

I was delivering to pubs in Rotherham yesterday and got talking about Agard. Hears the low down on this guy he had a trial at Rotherham be4 he got signed by them passed the trial then turned down the wage offer. Went to try and get more money off other clubs only to return with his tail between his legs 3 days be4 the season saying he'd accept, but they made him play in another trial game he scored 2 s and they signed him. In the last 2 games he ain't been bothered for them and the lad said this he's a money grabber and for near on million I'd drive him to leeds. Also said he's a good player but un proven at this level and his attitude is poor. And it's not only him showed me text from his mates saying take the money bad apple well done massimo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I heard the same in regards to his bad attitude. Blessing in disguise if you ask me. I have no doubt he will do well somewhere, but Leeds need to move on from money grabbing players that are at the club for the wrong reasons}

MC seems to have an attitude fetish, he can smell em a mile off ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree ed13 but what are the right reasons for a pro footballer to play at a club. think a balance is needed. I think/hope MC has got it right but think we need to have realistic what reasons are there to play for leeds. or any other club. MC has said he is not looking for promotion, unproven manager at best. so why chose leeds over any other championship club if not for money. we are fans who have passion for clubs, they are professional men in their profession trying to earn money and make best deal, maybe other thing they look for is glory which MC has said leeds are not aiming for this year. many have said right reasons but no one has said what right reasons are. if right reasons exist why do all the biggest and most successful teams pay the highest wage surely they should pay pittance as players play for right reason? this said I do agree we need players with passion for themselves and play for the shirt what ever shirt that is. we have been ripped off long enough

Didn't his contract at Rotherham finish last year. They had an additional year option which initially he turned down, and 2 months later he is still there.

I am not going to call him a money grabber as I don't know him, but it seems like he is being led by his agent, who probably blew the deal.

HE will probably still be at Rotherham in the relegation zone come Christmas, while we are sitting pretty in the playoff positions. His loss.

Roth had the option to extend it I thought the same thing obvs knew they could get some coin for him that darren powels a similer player i'd go for him hoping we get wood just can't see it now.

Agree with ed. He will end up at a club who welcomes money grabbers. Fulham Norwich Bolton or West Ham.

As far as I'm concerned Hock comes with a clean slate as do the umpteen players we've brought in Italian or otherwise. I only care what they do for us and the commitment they show especially when the going gets tough! I'm 100% behind MC because he was the only guy with kahuna's big enough to take us on. Strap yourselves in guys, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Today is the BIG day.
I have expressed a few opinions like everyone else. Some positive some questioning the Hock etc. Today I am there so will see for myself and base my feelings/opinions on what I see whilst hoping for the best. Granted 1 game will not be conclusive but like everyone else I will have a clearer understanding of the team and Hock etc. the one thing that is DEFINATE is that I will be singing my ass off and supporting the team 100%! I would ask all our fantastic fans to do the same! It's the only way WE can do something to influence our players and the outcome. For years we have yearned for light at the end of a long dark tunnel and finally I think we may be starting to see it.
WE ARE LEEDS and we are strongest UNITED!

More talks with Agard according to recent reports. Still think he would be a good signing.

Hocking 'ell or Blooming Hock?
I would suggest most of us have at least a few doubts about Davey boy. But I would also point out he has only had two games in charge, he has a massive task, blending new talent and youth into a team that was, quite honestly, one of the worst Leeds teams I have seen. It will take time and only time will tell, but that is exactly what we need to give him and Massimo will have no hesitation in acting swiftly should he not deliver. We are on our way, we will improve and Cellino I am sure whatever happens WILL deliver. Support our beloved club and be a part in our success. Solidarity bruvvers an sisters.

I didn't want Hock either but the guy deserves a fair crack at the whip like ANY manager should get.

Well said bud ;)
