Hess and Speedy. I might have been there that day, but I don't remember. Was it the day the tram was late when the horse cast a shoe?

That game 1967 was very late on for me. I was watching with 32,000 other fans when Leeds kicked off the season in 1954 when John Charles, Albert Nightingale, Jimmy Dunn, Grenville Hair and Eric Kerfoot were playing. Wasn't very old so I could sit on the white perimeter wall side of the pitch on the Lowfields Road side.

It terms of fitness I still managed the three peaks in a day late last year and scored in my last football match (only 6 a side) 7 years ago. Packed in playing and coaching the real thing ages ago but I'm not totally dead yet.

Well said Hess. And I'm still dressing and feeding myself. Not to mention the sky diving

You know what they say Speedy - you are only as old as the woman you feel.

Ox, or in Speedy's case - only as old as the berm you feel

yeah and compared to some I'm a proper young pup at 33 (34 next week so not happy about that) . Shows how you judge people I thought Speedy was about my step dads age due to comments (he is 57) and assumed Hess was give or take my age due to comments and views. Fair play Hess doing better than me mate i struggle to play in goal, although when michaeldinio does grace the pitch what i lack in pace i make up for in skill and finsihing and did score a couple of weeks back

Well I was only 3 months old at that Sunderland game 😎

Well done Hess you knock spots off me. My earliest recollection is with fullbacks (bodysnatchers) Bell and Hair. In the v. early 60s. So, like you, I was a child of the Golden Age of Leeds football.

that is right speedy was three months but yorkshire men are like dogs so being three months made him 23 in human years

Agree bw. You presume posters age by their views. Never realised hess was so mature. Impressed you can use a computer mate. And got to be honest thought speedie was about 40. Thought you were about 50!

50 with a three year old and a new born? i'd be bang in trouble i can just about cope now as i'm feeling too old. after watching the racing today my eldest Polly insisted on riding daddy after crawling on the floor for about 15 minutes with a jocky who weighs about 2 stone. i was in bits my knees are killing me now. tomorrow i think we will watch the boxing, i'm pretty confident i could take her at that and not knacker my knees.

Yes I can use a computer. I have even got one of the remote controls for the television - thinking of upgrading it to one that doesn't even have a long lead. The really exciting thing next week is I was given one of those weekend experience breaks for Christmas. I'm going to learn about something called 'texting'. Don't know what it is but it sounds interesting. I'll let you know.

just for t' record, I'll be 60 on Mothers day :) first Leeds game, a midweek (League I think) cup game, away at Bramall Lane when it was 3-sided with Yorkshire cricket pitch on one side. IIRC we won 3-1

Also just for the record my first game as spectator was Jack Charlton first game. He played because of a number of injuries in the team at the time. Although I couldn't appreciate it myself at the time I was told that the defence was rubbish. It was the time when John Charles had to be moved back to centre half although he was scoring bucketfuls of goals at the other end.

What are people feeling for the Brighton game? I think this game will be pivotal in both teams seasons, the winner for me will push on and get another 5 or 6 wins, and the loser may struggle. We've got 4 crucial games, which if we could get 4/5 points from I'd be thrilled, these being Brighton, reading, Norwich, and Newcastle, for me the rest we can and should be winning.

Who knows it's a season full of old surprises, and I'm just glad we're still in the mix. Regardless of what league we may be in, how many of the players who started the QPR game do we think will be ours in 12 months, I'm going to say 10, with Bartley signing, ped Signing, and green retiring at the end of his contract.

I think Brighton is the hardest game to predict so far this season. For once I feel that there's a possibility of us getting hammered but then again it could be a boring goalless draw, and exciting score draw or we could win. Hope that helps !
