i was tempted to search inbTra sfermarkt the Mbakugu profile. He is descripted BY HIS AGENT "as a new Drogba". Made only 2 goals in Serie A, against Lazio and Sampdoria. Well, 25 years, prolific scorer in poor divisions like Serie B. Waste of £! We signed a entire u21 team! Why more Billy Sharps or inuseless players. Put Sarkic. at least is ours

Just read that the wage cap looks like it may be lifted which, if true, will bring more talented players in reach. How many more and how much more talented I am not too sure. Also reading about Abel Hernandez also underlines why Leeds and other cash restricted teams have to look abroad. This man while at Hull wanted 70,000 from Villa (or any other Championship team) and if they got promoted wanted 100,000/week in the Prem. No wonder European players look so attractive. If you can't afford Harvey Nichs then you just have to look at Matalan. There are some really good bargains there if you just take your time and look closely. When you win the lottery, then get yourself to Harvey Nichs but until then common sense should prevail.

I have purposely put on my tin hat before I post this next bit. Here goes - I hope Hecky stays I know he is in meetings and it could go either way, I also know that many of you out there will not shed a tear if he does go but I am all for continuity. Be carefull what you wish for? A certain part of me now wonders where we would be if TC had stayed? As for Mr Hecky I listen to his press conferences and must say that even in defeat (and yes I know there have been far too many of those) he talks sense and his vision of the way he wants his team to play will, if it comes off, ensure success in the future. To write him off now, yes I do know his win ratio, would be a travesty of justice. Give him an off season to put together his plans without having to worry about next week. Give him chance to bring a few more young guns thro. Give him a chance to release some deadwood. Give him/Orta a chance to make a couple of marquee signings and next year will start to look a lot rosier. If he does go then, sad as I will be, it is not a situation I/you/we have not been in before just, Please Please, For goodness sake, Radz, Don't get the new man just because he's cheap. Don't get the new man because he can waffle and talk the talk. Don't get the new man because Orta likes him. Let's take time and get the right man. Nothing is guaranteed but let's get someone who at least has experience and has bought the tee shirt. As I say it could go either way but I hope they are agreeing plans for next year and chatting about holidays and the World Cup.

A great post IMO, Leodis. We absolutely need continuity for a while, and get shot of this hire and fire mentality, which just gets us nowhere, and unsettles key players. We haven't had a gaffer in ages who has had the time to drill his strategy into a settled squad, and chopping and changing delivers absolutely nothing but confusion. I'll get my tin hat too!

I'm of the opinion that Hecky is in talks about ins and outs before he goes to Cleethorpes on his hols

I heard he was told he would have no say in any signings? As for continuity losing every game we certainly have that with him!

He lost all them games with 7 injured players missing Siaz spitting incident and stopped trying plus I think I would have 4 of his signings from champ than 4 of Ortas.

Could be right, Cleggy is a bit too exotic for a Yorkshireman. Btw, this Yorkshireman will have to endure the England v Belgium game while sipping Pina Coladas in Mexico . damn damn damn

After Otas scattergun approach to recruitment I wonder if this is a view into his mindset, to keep assembling cheap teams hoping that one day the "monkeys writing Shakespere" theory will come true. He needs to show us that he too has a plan B and after the dismal showing of last season he must listen to advice and bring on board, at least, a couple of quality, been there, done it, professionals. Sure it will cost a bit more but Shangri La is reached the cost will be buttons. This is why I think the next few weeks will be very interesting and point the way forward for all LUFC lovers. Not only has it to be quality it has to be soon. Get sorted, get settled and attack next year with optimism.

16 May 2018 19:06:28
I'm ever faithful and optimistic, and I do think we will see 2-3 proven signings this window. Forshaws signing points to a more positive and realistic outlook from the board as to what is needed. I also take all the rumours with a pint of salt!

Not to mention the young lad we bought from W Brom who apparently has great potential and cost a few sheckles. Rad will spend similar amounts on a few more players I believe.

Please just give me your 1 2 3 in a clear post. Voting ends Friday midnight. Winner and runners up to be announced next day.

I hate this George it's just like picking your favourite Leeds United eleven. How can you. There is probably 3 players for every spot all of whom would be just right. Or even more difficult is picking the best song in the Eurovision? Well here goes anyway 1-Brightwhite 2-Alf 3-George. With honorable mentions for Bermo, Samo, Aussie, Al, Speedy and Hesslian. Just thinking there I had to chop the list, there are so many. All well worth reading some even making sense. Which reminds me let's remember some of the missing posters who were regulars but now, for whatever reason do not post anymore. If you are still out there let's hear you and to any new bodies just jump on board and throw your two'penneth in. You may get disagreed with, just don't take it personal and just remember old or new, your point is just as valid as ours.

How many quality and consistent breakthroughs from the u23s would it take this season for Radz plan to look hopeful and for everybody to agree Orta has done a good job? Not at all saying he has, just interested in what's needed for the fans forgiveness!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

16 May 2018 19:09:45
I'd say that if another three became regulars in the squad, occasional starters, but frequent subs, then that's a damned good return. To be fair, they are lining up already, so fingers crossed!

Agree0 Disagree1

16 May 2018 21:06:53
Whoa Brighty. Maybe we are on the verge of saying Orta has done a good job but let's just ameliorate that by ending - for the Academy. So maybe he should be Director of Future Football and leave the grown ups alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2018 00:00:50
I think if we can have a settled starting 11 with 5-6 young starters. Job well done. But he will also need to buy the right class experienced 2-3 we need now.

We need a manager who will get respect from the fans, and tell the owners that his lackeys have no idea.

Allardyce, McCarthy, O’Leary, Stuart Pearce!

16 May 2018 15:43:30
That's why it won't happen. At least not yet. My guess is Heck and Orta will leave the club together at same time once another season of mediocrity has taken place. Don't think Radz wants to spend the money on a top manager and all that entails such as supporting his transfer wish list until season after next. He still getting to grips with the finances in my opinion.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 May 2018 16:38:30
George I think the basic problem is finding a manager who is happy to be judged on the performance of a bunch of players over which he has no say. Right now I wake up expecting to hear of Hecky parting company with Leeds and that will be, if he stands up to Radz (and Orta) and demands a big say in recruitment. This is also the stumbling block for many noted managers coming here. Unfortunately, for some reason, Orta seems to have the power over Radz. Can only think that there are some incriminating photos locked in a desk somewhere. What other reason can there be?

Agree Hesslian. This proposed transfer appears to be iffy in that I struggle to understand how a player playing in Serie B with a poor scoring record and injury record is valued at circa £3.5m. Even with the inflated prices of English football, a player like this would only cost half the cost being suggested in today's market.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 May 2018 16:40:12
Totally agree with both of you. Better to spend the money on the wages of a free agent, as others have suggested before.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

16 May 2018 12:09:45
Sorry Mighty, not the one for me. Anyone who can take a team 13th to 8th and still get fired, there must be something wrong. He is roundly critized by supporters for his methods and his style of play and to cap it all has caused division in the dressing room. Do we really want that?

Agree4 Disagree1

16 May 2018 12:40:47
NO NO NO to fat Sam

Agree4 Disagree0

16 May 2018 13:13:20
The problem with Sam is that you get results but the football is of poor quality. The owner of Everton talked about Champions League football when he took over and felt that Koeman would provide it by playing attractive football. It went sour, they panicked and brought in Sam to steady the ship. He did what he was asked to do but his football alienates those who wish to be entertained. I am not a fan of Sam but struggle to see what more he could have done in the circumstances

Agree2 Disagree0

16 May 2018 13:38:58
Horses for courses methinks big Sam is way better than what we have at present and make us hard to beat sod the pretty football let's get wining matches and out of this league no way in hell would he work under Orta so can't see it happening Heck is a yes man that's why Radz will stick with him

Agree1 Disagree3

16 May 2018 14:01:21
Everton only got him in cause they couldn't get Silva at the time. I had a feeling they would move for Silva this summer after he got sacked form Watford so Sam couldn't really win.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 May 2018 16:27:26
Big sam got them
Out off a relegation battle. And since his arrival has accumulated 30 points. More points than Arsene and just 4 points less than conte. And is in the top six since his arrival
On points. So to be fair. He’s done what he’s had too do. Can’t knock him. Style doesn’t win you points or matches. You do what you need to do against the opposition in front of you on the day. I’d take him in a heart beat. Would shore up our defence first n foremost which is half the battle. Don’t forget. The national team wanted him u TIL his misdemeanour. Sure we all have them. So English National team we’re happy with his methods and style. Because he gets results. #BIGSAMFORME

Good stats those Batty! If it was to come to a situation where we needed to bring in another gaffer, I would have Sam, but honestly don't think we could afford him. He's been paid £6mill for the last year of his contract, which is just beyond us.

Liam Rosenior, Abel Hernandez, Boaz Myhill, Barts, Sidwell, Forestieri, Bpbby Reid, Barton, all free agents. I don't want to be seeing players like mbakogu, stulac, whoever these blokes are you might be good in you rown leagues but if they're such talents why are no other clubs being linked? I think if you spent an average 20k a week on those players on a 3 year deal each works out at about 3 million per player, and for 5 of them that's a steal imo

The best free agents want the highest wages and a large sign on fee therefore we are never at the front of the queue.

I would love to have any of those Samo might even perk up Season ticket sales. We would save a few bob on their transfer fee so that could go towards there wages and if they do drag us into the Prem then it will be chicken feed
