Just got in from Sunderland Res v Newcastle res. Sat in Press box and a few rows back was a scout from Leeds. Looking at Matt Kilgallon who had a very good game. In press conference after the game, Sunderland coach Kieth Bertschin referenced how good his performance was and said that he was likely to leave the club soon.

Playing like that he would be a very good signing.

Jack Robshaw. MOT!

Does Nunez deserve another crack in the team..?
consistently over 5-10 games in his preferred position to determine whether or not he can cut the mustard - personally I like the lad

Believable9 Unbelievable4

The dislike? Probably a Becchio fanboy lol

Agree2 Disagree2

Just don't see where he'd fit it at the moment. He probably does deserve a chance though and if he hangs on it probably will come. How many think Lees and White were down to Grayson's skill as a manager? I think he didn't expect to use them as much as he has, but with one thing or another he had to and they have been fantastic. So hold on Nunez your time may come.

Agree6 Disagree1

I'd give him a chance in Ross' possition off the bench soon if Ross can't pick up his game!

Agree4 Disagree0

Nunez coming off the bench to replace McCormack would be a good move- far better than replacing him with Becchio which seems to be the in thing at present. Or Lloyd Sam- whenever he has come off the bench and played more of a central role he has done very well

30 games left in the league, the run in to christmas from here is a good one for us, if only we can see off games this time around a pick up 3 points rrather than surrendering good leads to get a draw, march is a very hard month but if we are in a good position by then we should have the conf, morale etc to get thru it

Is it just our coaching staff that are crap which is why we don't get the best out of our players???

West ham are apparently interested in Andy O'Brian. Do they know something we don't?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Allardyce signed him for Bolton.

LUFC Howson - Fans not understanding my role
Tweet Leeds United skipper Jonny Howson says the fans are not understanding the defensive side of his midfield play this season.

Howson scored eleven times last season when Leeds played a 4-5-1 system with him playing in behind the striker.

With manager Simon Grayson reverting to a 4-4-2 this season, Howson is playing alongside Adam Clayton in the centre of midfield in a more defensive role.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Howson said, "Playing two in there (in central midfield), if me and Adam both move forward, we`d possibly concede more goals. It is a disciplined role; sometimes when you are eager to get forward if you are on the break, you have to think: 'I need to hold here` and let the wide players and two forwards take care of things.

From a fans` point of view, it would be great if I was running forward every time and scoring goals. Sometimes, fans don`t see the other side.

But I`m sure the team and management staff see the job of me playing in that safety valve role. Maybe it`s not very entertaining for fans, but if we are claiming good results and wins from it, I don`t mind."

Howson is yet to score this season, whilst midfield partner Adam Clayton has been taking all the plaudits having netted four times, including a stunning winner at Leicester City last time out.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson spoke out last week when he said he couldn`t understand the criticism that was being aimed in the direction of Howson. Grayson also speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, said, 'It amazes me when people criticise Jonny because he goes about his business in a quiet manner.

Other people will always get the plaudits, but he does everything that you ask him to do.

He`s a pleasure to work with and leads by example. He`s not one to steam into tackles, but he works and presses and breaks things up and plays when he gets the chance to. Jonny is a top player.'

Howson will lead Leeds out at Burnley on Saturday and he will be hoping for a repeat of last season, when he scored a superb winner as Leeds came from two goals down at half time to win 3-2.

Maybe us fans dont see all the hidden work Jonny does. NR

We know that, problem is he's not very good at it. much better in the opposition's box.

Agree3 Disagree2

I think he's adapted quite well - a good player and we need to keep him. He's had a bit of stick on here, as has Grayson. All misguided in my view from people whose expectations are based on a long distant past.

Agree2 Disagree2

Its a case of square pegs in round holes syndrome J.H clearly is a good player but monkey crap as a C.D.M player, clearly with his tweet he's not that happy with it so let Val have a go and push J.H further forward alongside Macca or Becks..!

Agree3 Disagree0

Jonny said if me and Adam both moved forward we might concede more goals. More goals, more goals is he having a f****** laugh. If we conceded more goals than we already do then our keeper would have back problems.

Leeds United captain Jonny Howson has promised to sign a new deal at Elland Road.

The 23-year-old, in the final year of his contract, had been linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers.

However, the talismanic midfielder says he wants to stay Leeds, and is targeting promotion after missing out on the play-off place last season.

“We have been in talks for the past month or so and I am sure they will be finalised and I’ll sign soon," Howson said.

“For any professional footballer it is an ambition to play at the highest level, and I am no different. I would love to do that with Leeds and, hopefully, that is where we will be next season.

“I think we have got a very good chance of going up. It is all about consistency.

“If we can get that right, we shall have an excellent opportunity of staying in and around the top of the table.”

Leeds currently lie seventh in the Championship, level on points with Crystal Palace and Blackpool

I hope he does stay but come on Jonny, your our worse culprit for in-consitency! NR

Maik Taylor played against Chelsea at Thorpe Arch yesterday. WOuld be a good addition to the squad, solid goalkeeper with bags of experience and before anyone says he is too old because he is 40 just look at Brad Friedel

Believable6 Unbelievable0

He is too old

Agree3 Disagree5

Yeah but brad friedel is good.. Maik taylor isnt.

Agree2 Disagree5

Not a bad keeper at all.

Agree4 Disagree0

Been relegated from the Prem quite a lot i recall. still praying for Lonners returning soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

This could allow Cairns to go on loan to gain first team experience. could be an inspired decision by the manager.
