I think everyone needs to get a bit of sense, some of the names floating about here will never happen, we have signed 1 player and already we are crying about signings, the league dosent start to august 18, so start being positve about things because we have the best manager we could have hoped for to get out of this division MOT {Ed013's Note - Well said}

Not a rumour per-se just a comment but my dads friend from work was playing golf in Abersoch and he met Michael Brown on the course. He was chatting to him and basically Brown said that he was annoyed/disappointed that Leeds hadn't offered him a better deal, he says Leeds' wage limit for the season was £11m whilst Watford's was only £5m but Leicester's was £21m. He clearly thought we should be offering him a better deal and was not happy with the one on the table. Tbh I hope he doesn't sign, too old, too slow, gives away too many fouls ect ect. Cheers.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

I was going to say, he is lucky to get a contract at all to be honest.

Agree9 Disagree1

Hi, I wonder if brown has expressed his feelings to his manager.
He seems to know a lot about clubs finances, but nothing about confidentiality or loyalty.

He is either a. an untrustworthy employee who cannot hold his own water, or b. your dads friend is a spoofer.

I will go for b please Chris, yes I am sure, final answer....

Whilst on my dads, dogs golf course I met Ken Bates whilst he was raking the greens. He told me that we were going to buy Messi and Ronaldo and pay them ....blah blah blah. Another poor post.

ed all these rumours of nw walking are speculation as u and i know hes big enough to know whether he can improve us and stay within new wage criteria for league also rather be solid financially than we were in the past so hope people give papa smurf a break finally warnock wants players who want to play with the pressure playing for us brings so all players leaving probably cant give that or think grass greener else where !!! mot 4 life nicky bee {Ed013's Note - Finally some sense! People need to realize that the season only finished a few weeks ago. I don't think people will be happy until a player is signed every week! NW knows what he is up against and will hopefully see out his contract at the very least}

Seen as though Craig Gordon is a free agent in the same, what are people's thoughts? Obviously, would be a class signing id we could afford his wages! Also, Blackburn player been released, Hérold Goulon, he's 6 ft 5. Definitely worth a look, known for his aggressive style, would mean we can get rid of Brown! Yaya Toure replacement one day!?

Agree1 Disagree0

17 May 2012 19:05:46
ed, how much do u think leeds would get for clayton {Ed013's Note - I would say 1 million - 1.5 million. He has a year left and I would of hoped for more as Howson went for 2 million with 6 months left, but Howson was a better player so 1.5 million would be good business for a player that came for free. Would rather keep him if his agent backs down on the wage demands}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Ed, does his potential sale have anything to do with his agents demands? Looks to me like Warnock has other ideas...

Warnock explained his decision by insisting the fee generate by Clayton’s sale would allow him to secure a higher standard of player to replace Clayton in the centre of midfield.

Warnock said: “I have to look at it and say I’ll be signing a player for £400,000 or £500,000 and I don’t feel Adam’s worth more than the player I’ll be signing.

“With what I’m looking for, I’ve got to generate something to get me what I want. That’s how I looked at it and I’m trying to be a realist.”

Warnock expected significant interest in Clayton and Burnley are the first side to show their hand. Eddie Howe’s side finished 13th in the Championship last month, one place higher than Leeds.

Other sides are expected to compete for Clayton’s signature, with Warnock admitting: “I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs after Adam because he’s done well this season in a lot of games.” {Ed013's Note - I can't make a lot of it out mate, have you copied it and pasted it as its showing up this side as lots of symbols etc. I will try and answer your question the best way I can. NW believes he can bring a player in for around 500,000 that will do Clayton's job or even better. He probably see's his formation with Clayton not fitting into it. Therefore, with the money from Clayton, which should be at least a million, he can strengthen 1 or 2 areas with better quality, all be it not as young as Clayton. For example Norris from Pompey may cost 500,000 as they are struggling for cash, but we should be demanding over a million for Adam as he has a promising future and we don't have to sell him so should get a decent amount of cash. I hope this answers your question, if not please elaborate}

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed, thanks for the reply, I copied and pasted his comments from YEP. Agree with all your saying, but I think warnock wants shot of him regardless of his wage demands. It will be no loss if we get a couple in of equal or better quality, time will tell! {Ed013's Note - Your probably right mate, I see it as he wont fit into his planned system and to make some money he is the easiest to replace}

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard a lot of people saying we should be keeping Clayton. I don't agree. People seemed to see him as a certain starter next season, again I didn't agree. To see Warnock transfer list him came as a relief to me. I ask again, when was the last time Clayton had a good game? We need, and in my opinion we will sign, better than him to launch a proper promotion push.

hi all just a little messy on the players front at the moment but iv noticed alot of players who in my opinion could have a crack at the championship decide to retire instead and i would love to see robbie savage come out of retirement always a fawn in the side whenever he played leeds and he is a great player also how about getting bellamy on a season long loan with the option to buy absalute diamond of a player and cant see liverpool keeping him although i do think that some of the lower prem clubs will go for him johno of leeds

If Bates lived up to the reputation of being a shrewd, cold business man surely he understands you need to speculate to accumulate. If he gave Warnock a decent war chest with good wages available to build not only a promotion winning side but a side with good depth of great championship players Bates would make more profit from the promotion than restricting funds to bring in second rate players who cannot win promotion.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Unless we didn't get promoted, we'd then have spent lots of money and achieved nothing. Spending money doesn't guarentee success (see Leicester), he's happy with havin a team which is safe from relegation, charging over the top ticket prices and watching 20,000+ turn up whilst he pays out pittance!

Agree3 Disagree4

I'd also like to point out that with a club our size, it is much more profitable for any owner in the Championship as we get great revenue without having big wages to pay.

Agree3 Disagree3

Agreed, he's drawing in prem ST prices, paying less wages to players and staff, the guys not daft!

think we should try and get chambers from forest he's on a free and only 25 would be great next to pearce what do you think ED? {Ed013's Note - I am not a big fan, but if NW could form a good partnership you never know. He can play right back as well so his versatility would make him a good prospect}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

17 May 2012 15:51:46
why are people putting warnock will walk
what do you think ED also ED Any more news on any new players? {Ed013's Note - No more news other than the Hill one. Some people are worried he will walk and some are paranoid. I know one thing, if NW cant take Leeds any further for what ever reason he will walk. He is old enough to know if he is on to a good thing or not and on Sky Sports earlier he seemed happy enough. If targets go elsewhere its not Neil's fault or even Ken Bates either. Some players will realize they won't cope with the expectation that comes with Leeds and some clubs will pay more, but we have to be sensible and stay out of debt with the new rules. Believe it or not, the way Leeds is run is making them a stronger club than most as they are kept within the new rules}

Believable8 Unbelievable1

People are worried he will walk because did he not sign a contract to end of season with an option for next.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed i cannot agree more, a player may go elsewhere for many reasons not just one related to wages, if any player doesnt want to sign then we move on and target another one which i would fully expect NW will be doing. Considering all that has happened over the past several seasons i personally believe that in NW (weather you like him or not) we have a straight forward very experienced manager, he will stay and make things work to the best of his abilities and means at his disposal. He knows what it takes to play at Leeds and possibly some of the players hes talked to about signing dont sign because they cant cope with the expectation of the club and also his, what he expects from his players week in week out and therefore take the easy option and go elsewhere. Where we currently stand as a club surely the only manager out there that can we can trust in at the moment and can give us a chance of some success is NW.

My mate saw Ross McCormack in Maine Street in Halifax the other week and was talking to him for a good hour. He asked if he is going to sign a long term deal and Ross replied 'I'm not aloud to discuss contract offers with anyone but i would love to stay at Leeds United, I love the club and the fans'

Believable0 Unbelievable6

Michael Owen has just said he does not want to play in the Championship so can we end any rumours with him ;-) {Ed013's Note - Yes please. No more}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Owen is washed up and too big for his boots. What professional would sit on the bench at scum and not want to play on loan . Says to me that he`s got enough cash and more worried about horse racing than football. Hungry he is not!! We don`t need that sort of character at our club.

Clayton potentially going to Burnley is the absolute acid test. He turned Leeds down because of wage demands. If he signs for Burnley, a club with 7,500 followers and lower admission prices, it means they are paying more in wages than Leeds with 25,000 followers and sky high admission prices.
This will bring out Bates' true colours beyond any doubt.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Who made you manager of Leeds United,NW obviously feels they made him a good offer,and states they can do better than him in the transfer market,hes built enough promotion winning teams to know what hes doing ,have you?. normy white.

As this rumour is starting to burn my head out mate. mot4life {Ed013's Note - The only update I have is that he is considering his options and should be all wrapped up next week. Adding more weight to a rumour I put on here a while back. Alan Smith (yup sorry it's that name again) has been in talks with some of the coaches at Leeds with a view to joining just as a coach.

Heard that he has realised he won't make it as a player in the prem or championship anymore and doesn't fancy stepping down to league one or below to play so is looking to the future.

He has recieved an offer from Newcastle to coach one of the youth sides, but is looking at other options just to see what possibilities are out there. As I said last time, i'd like to see him as a coach as I think he could instill some passion and fire in our youngsters and knows the pressure of being a young player in a big team

Believable3 Unbelievable6

That's a couple of minutes of your life wasted writing that nonsense.

Agree10 Disagree0

Hes considereing staying at MK's 1st, and Newcastle coaching as a fall back so sont know why you keep spewing this drivel out. The lad would get paid more at NUFC so doubt he'd come back to leeds, think your living in a dream world. its about the £ not a so called love for his 'team'

Agree1 Disagree0

17 May 2012 13:57:39
Ed how long do transfers take to wrap up, surely it can't be more than a week because leicester last year signed so many players and couldn't have if they all took a week to get {Ed013's Note - All depends on agents and players agreeing terms with clubs. Some transfers take a full transfer window and then sign at the last minute as they are always looking for the best offer for themselves}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Leicester were offering players 25k a wk,not too much to think about there at championship level...Joel Ward will prob be getting offered between 7k to 12k max and his agent will be asking him which club he wants to go to and ask them to match the best wage he has been offered

Clint Hill on the way he comes the start of the QPR rejects our defence is bad enough without another terrible centre half. Not looking good for next season if this is the standard of player we're looking at.

Any ideas people on young hungry players out there for defence

Believable2 Unbelievable3

life long leeds fan,, have come on this site the past 3 years and got all excited but we never buy anyone,,, i think its going to be the same old story this summer,,, i am happy that we have a stable club but we will never buy players to get promotion whilst bates is in charge,,, sorry guys {Ed013's Note - We just bought one last week! Keep the faith, I know its frustrating, but its early days}

Believable0 Unbelievable5

Eds, why oh why do you keep posting all this negative *****? {Ed013's Note - Because people are entitled to their opinion}

Agree5 Disagree0

The squad is so small we have to bring in players. and if Bates is serious about a promotion challenge, he'd going to have to put up.

Agree3 Disagree0

Well if we dont bring any palyers in were screwed so cant see us signing no one, why the rush?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 may 2012 13:23:54
lets look at the numbers. bates said any transfers in would go into the managers kitty for players.
gradel £1 to £2 million. howson £2 million. theres 3 to 4 million plus any funds he raises from sales. will he have this to spend i dont think so. bates out now.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Plus 1 mill for kasper

Agree3 Disagree0

But he's clearly stated that grayson overspent on wages last year compared to budget. The budget we have is for transfer fee AND wages so the money we got for those players will have gone on wages too, especially as we were over the budget set at the start of the season.

People need to remember there isnt a budget set for transfers and one for wages - its 1 pot that everything squad related comes out of. Its Warnocks job to minimise the squad numbers where we are covered. Grayson caused issues himself by having a large squad and taking the majority of that pot up with wages rather than having a slightly smaller squad leaving money for transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2012 13:14:21
Hmmm NW quoted as saying he hopes to get 1 or 2 in within the next week. Just 4 days ago he was hoping to get 1 or 2 in by the end of this week. I dont want to sound too negative cos the Summer is long but I'd rather he say nothing at all and just let signings happen as and when rather than make statements that end up not happening before re-adjusting his words like he is doing. He made it sound like we were almost certain to sign 2 by the end of this week. Now seems that won't happen. Lets stop making semi promises and keep mouths zipped until we sign someone.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

But then we'id be saying the club don't keep fans informed on whats goin on behind the seens. So keeping us in the loop is better than out the loop. You carn't have bothe ways mate. mot4life

I understand that people dislike smith but i for one would have him back. I know hes lost some ability but i went to 37 games last year and believe me he would get his chance. We will be up there next year now that our manager isnt afraid to drop players and smith would raise the crowd. I love our club and dont care who has played for who as long as they give it their all. To me every club are rivals and we all know only leeds fans love leeds. Marching on together were gunna see you win da da da dadada we are so proud we'll shout it out loud we love you leeds leeds LEEDS! Vinny.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

He would raise half the crowd, the other half (like me) wont be raised at all, but worried at how bad he is. he is not good enough at all.

Agree3 Disagree0

So 11 binmen that are leeds fans would surfice because theyd raise the crowds spirits and show some passion?? lol

Im surprised that with all these old names being tossed around HARRY KEWELL has not been mentioned. Or is that because everyone is to disgraced to even mention that backstabbing scumbags name? {Ed013's Note - He has, I keep deleting them!}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Well done ED013 - keep deleting them, it cant be Leeds fans posting about k****l
as no leeds fan would ever want to see him back at ER {Ed013's Note - Agreed, that is the only one I have let through to show people why}

Micheal owen just been released by scum! Worth a punt if he can stay fit?!
Joey-MOT

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Great finisher no one can deny that, he has lost that yard of pace on defenders which used to make him lethal but his movement and ability to get between center backs and get shots off is still very much a threat at any level. Sign him up

Agree1 Disagree2

Thats the problem though, he can't stay fit! He's absolutely plagued with injuries and he hasnt had a good whack at football recently. We all saw what he could do against us. But lets not forget we were abysmal that game, and Scum just stopped us from playing any strategy.

What i'm trying to say is, yes, he's knows how to score good goals; his problem is he physically cant do it anymore. Otherwise, i'd have loved to have seen him at Leeds.

Oh, and youre forgetting the major factor. Bates would no way pay his wage demands.

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe! He's gonna have to do some work now though, instead of just being an exhibition player. He'll probably go to Qatar - big money there for ageing stars.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think he's said he won't drop down to the Championship.

Agree3 Disagree0

Think there would be a line of premier sides chasing him which will pay alot higher wages, good signing but not much chance on our budget

Agree2 Disagree1

As soon as I saw this on Sky I wondered who would be the first person to post it on here that we have been linked or should take a punt. Well done, it was you.
An overpaid, bench warming, injury prone has been. Is that really what you want to see at ER? White til I die.

Anyone else a little concerned about the lack of movement even though Warnock has said he'll be disappointed if there isn't 2 or 3 in by the end of the week? I know it's the middle of May but it looks like we might miss out on targets yet again!

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Its not even been 2 weeks since Pearce arrived, these things can take time, jus have to be patient and trust Warnock. Trust Warnock, hate Bates.

Agree2 Disagree2

Not overly concerned, no. There's nearly 3 months to the start of the new season. It'll all come good.

Agree3 Disagree1

All teams miss out on targets for one reason or another,and NW has said he is talking to various players that havent been mentioned on the gossip sites,it takes time to bring players in,no doubt he will eventually get who he wants..normy white.

Agree1 Disagree1

Can't announce transfers until window opens in July. Only reason we signed Pearce is because Portsmouth are in administration and aren't affected by transfer regulations. Have some faith we will make signings.

Agree2 Disagree2

Agree with last comment, but what we were told at end of season is different to whats happening now. just after all the false promises of previous years we hoped things would be different this time.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the club came out and said we were targeting a few players but no movement would happen for quite some time I would be content however, we have been told that 2 or 3 are due in this week, the likes of Ward and Halford are dirt cheap compared to players of a similar level from other clubs so it'd be a real shame to miss out!

Warnock should sign Aluko from Rangers, 1million and they wouldnt be able to refuse!

Just heard that Michael Owen is going to be released by man united this week. Great ability and goal scorer. Would it be worth the risk to sign him up/ pay as you play deal

Believable2 Unbelievable6

The previous " has beens" ( rush and fowler) were enough thanks

Agree2 Disagree4

How can you bad mouth Fowler for his playing record for us? A goal almost every other game? Just the injury that set him back

Agree4 Disagree1

Footballs moved on since the days of fowler. It wouldnt be the same case for Michael Owen.

Agree2 Disagree0

Regards my previous post, it turns out you were the first person with this post. White til I die.

cant believe we would sign shaun derry again. When we had him last time, he apparently gave neil warnock the leeds team sheet when he was palace manager, before a crucial game, can you really see us accepting that? did like him when he was at leeds, but to be fair thats unforgiveable. Would accept alan smith back before him! Cant understand his decision to sell clayton and keep brown. Clayton was one of our best players last year, really hope snodders resigns MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable5

And you would believe what Dennis Wise says? Especially over a guy that is a Leeds United fan and has a Tatoo of the clubs badge?

This conversation seems to crop up every week at the moment!

If thats the case then NW knows he isnt to be trusted and wouldnt sign him??Lol
