LUTV is as bad as the squad that Orta has been allowed to assemble. The diabolical service and amateurish commentary would be funny if you didn't have to pay for it. On tonight's viewing, Ideguchi looks poor and a typical Orta signing and Baker did not impress me at all. If we don't get two quality centre halves, a quality winger and two quality strikers then we are staring league one in the face.

To be fair to the lad Ideguchi, he's not played a remotely competitive game for over half a year now. Totally agree re LUTV. shambles. Thought Baker and Klitch both did well. We do need more signings tho, but we are not going to walk over any team with a line up that only has 2 recognised defenders, both of them left backs. Tonight was a fitness and formation exercise, nowt more.

Couldn't agree more bright. Pontus and cooper would have kept a clean sheet tonight the reason York did well was because we were effectively playing with 2 youth wing backs and a midfielder and LB in defence.

Ideguchi was in a makeshift team that has NEVER played a competitive game together. I think he showed some good touches and when the team are ALL on the same page I think he will shine.

Samo You right but how has that been allowed to happen to our "reserve defence"? Hope that won't be RV's new position. Can't see him being pleased if it is. Is that why Colin fancies his chances?

I think we are going to need a lot of patience this year. If Bielsa is worth preserving with a think it his going to take him time to get the players he wants playing how he wants. There looked to be a bit more of a plan and shape to the performance against Forest Green but not tonight against York. Baker showed some idea and Diaz when he came on. Viera looked unsure about what he was supposed to be doing. Pearce tried. Not sure many of the others are going to give us solid options during the year. New tactics, slow getting new players in and a tough set of starting fixtures could lead to a hard first few months. Hopefully Roberts will get some preseason soon and give us a bit more hope.

Thought Klich was good Spanish, agree on viera he looked very unsure but was playing as a centre back, v. odd! . Pearce looked ok, too early to judge baker, looked rusty to me, we definitely need some more quality in 3 or 4 positions.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 23:10:17
I think all that Bielsa was interested in tonight, was seeing players in a match, watching them individually on and off the ball, and to get some Match fitness, nothing more. Klitch looked handy.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 23:22:04
Thought Klich was man of the match. Not going to judge on these friendlies as it looks like Bielsa is trying everyone in different positions, Diaz looked comfortable and Baker has something to offer. Be interesting to see the line up against Stoke.

A blind man on a galloping horse can see urgent quality additions are required and fast. Come on Radz and Co get your arses into gear before there is nobody decent left to get.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 23:43:57
Klich looked handy going forward but in defence terrible. Think it’s goung to take a bit of time to get it right and probably more people! More got be able to take apart some weaker teams but we will be very vulnerable to fast breaking teams.

What I'm wondering now is who's going to be sold before we bring someone in. I fear BPF and Vieira are on the table.

Nobody, we clearly have the money as we agreed 11m for vydra. but they aren't just going to buy any tom dick and harry like last year. I really feel for them as last year got slated for just buying anyone who wanted to join leeds and this year looking for quality whilst trying to keep within the clubs means and still getting slated. I expected more by this point no questions about it, but i get the feeling so did they. and they made the right decision in telling vydra to do one if he wants 50K a week.

Id rather see our youth come through than sign dross for the sake of it. We are looking at much better calibre of players this season so they have clearly learnt slightly from last year.

So answer to your question is nobody needs to be sold to buy.

For talking about having money how come we lost out to Derby we matched their off why didn't we better their offer by 100k and put the deal in the bag.

Agree3 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 21:51:12
Agree Wex, if we were ready to splash 11m on Vydra and allegedly were in talks with a player who wanted a £100 grand a week why are we dragging our feet to move for players like Jazefroon and Kyle B. The money isn’t the issue, I’ve said before we need to strengthen the team and not get left in the blocks.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 23:13:18
TBH, the championship is the only league I follow, and I'd never heard of the lad, so even if we were "interested", I'm not bothered if Derby are going to pay him stupid money, and that's all he's interested in. Plus, Brentford have already replaced him, so he's leaving because he's been benched with a year left on his contract, so can't be that special, surely?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 14:36:20
What 3/ 4 signings would everyone make- realistic signing however, not vydra or hernandez who want 50K a week because that just ridiculous. i don't blame the club for looking elsewhere.

Be interesting to see peoples thoughts?

Looks increasingly like Orta and company are going to have to pull up some tree to save yet more embarrassment in this transfer window! got to go all out for Hernandez ( which I think can still happen ) Dwight Gayle, a winger of proven quality that can actually cross a ball! A quality centre back. No need to spend £10mill + on joe Bryan imo! Fingers crossed for a busy week next week but hey I’ve been hoping for that for the last 3 weeks!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2018 15:24:25
Orta oughta dig up the tree and dive in the hole all I expect is cheaper lower league foreign players same ilk as Imbakogu, this supposed 20 million budget hasn't been touched yet surely 3 or 4 quality players can be bought for that prem or championship quality hink Leeds united is just a high profile base to work from while he ploughs more time and money into his other business interests will Bielsa still be here come kick off? starting to have doubts.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 13:18:23
That's because of the shower playing at running a football club. It's clear that radz and Co are bluffers. Promise after promises. We should have known when heckingbottom was put in that this lot haven't a clue.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 14:11:46
Wex I'm not happy with the way the club is run either but I won't moan just yet because we're not at the stage you seem to think we're at. Radz has made progress. We are working on deals. Only the failure to land Wilson has irritated me and that soon passed. There are other targets. I am quite concerned by our defence though. We are lacking in quality and quantity there. As it stands, even with Bielsa I only see us improving our league position by a couple of places. Whilst it's disappointing so far, there's still time.

The only progress radz has made is buying Elland Road other than that it's backwards George just because the manager is held in regard by some does not mean he is going to be a success so where is the progress. Its not on the pitch. I've said before many good business men have relegated a football club.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 16:30:15
Wex On pitch team went backwards 10 games before end of Monk's reign. There'll be various theories as to why which probably centre around Orta and buying back the ground. I look at it philosophically. Radz first full season manager out of depth with average players, second season looks like great manager with same average players. Maybe in Radz' third season we'll keep the great manager and reward him with better players. He's obviously experimenting. I am going to be patient at least until August 2020. We aren't relegation fodder Wex, not just yet. Being super patient isn't what fans want to hear but Italians take their time. Rome day adage springs to mind. I'm not happy with mid table mediocrity either Wex but can we do?

Agree4 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 23:20:49
A very realistic perspective George that I agree with. None of us fans are naturally patient, but where we've come from, vs where we are now, is massive progress. Massimo and Radz have delivered that. We are definitely not relegation fodder even with the squad as it stands, but I don't think the squad will be lacking additions in a couple of weeks. Begrudgingly, I will try to be patient for another season too, as we are moving in the right direction at last.

Unless recruitment changes soon it's going to be an uphill struggle for promotion next year. As well as Stoke and WBA, Derby look to be putting a useful team together. I worry that a Bielsa style will not see us through without our team bursting with talent. A high pressing team with 3 at the back is good to watch and (in theory) gets goals but as soon as other managers perfect the defence in depth, with an attack on the break, we could be in trouble. I don't know if playing Stoke on day 1 is a good or a bad thing but certainly it's a musn't miss game. Another season and the Leeds United "live in hope".

Where is this supposedly 20mil, my excitement 4 weeks ago is now turning into genuine concern. After seeing line up at forest G, we are in trouble. I only watched highlights but seemed roofe fluffed a few, so need that striker.
Glad we got baker and Blackman but only loans, will they start against York? I like BPF but there goal could have been saved, did he play well apart from that?
I thought with bielsa in charge, he would be telling them the signings needed and that players would want to come play at Leeds under him?
Still need a CB, winger and at least one forward. Time to try raid city and Spurs, I have said a few times, go for Foyth.
Is it worth going all out for kean from juve?
Would also spend big and try for Maddison.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2018 07:29:02
If we go all out for Kean and he can’t adapt to the championship what’s the plan B? . we may as well go for Abel Hernandez and pay him more in wages as we know he can stand out at this level, doubt we will go for Maddison, I presume Baker will play the role he would, also we have forshaw, Phillips and viera for centre mid (maybe klich) . agree re centre back and a decent winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 07:36:49
Perhaps very few players want to play under Bielsa because they think he'll walk within a few months (or weeks) .

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 09:15:43
Alas Maddison plays mainly as a winger, he can play attackig mid but usually plays on the wing which is what we need as our alternatives are Sacko, Alioski or Dallas. Dallas may be a work horse but he isn’t a prolific winger for assists and goals, Alioski is on the floor most of the time and Sacko enough said.

I'm still far from panicking and I see our approach as promising rather than a worry. I repeat what I said last week, I would be worried if we were singing dross, but waiting and getting the right player is alright in my eyes. 2 or 3 signings and then 2 or 3 more loan signings (that will happen after the TM closes and players are surplus to requirements at their parent club) and we will be in good shape. There are many good players out there, some we are hearing named but others we aren't, that are available. At the moment I am happy that we are keeping our powder dry so to speak.
