Question: When was the last time our support home or away chanted UNITED followed by the three claps and repeated several times?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My guess would be late eighties. Although this changed to United Leeds in early 90's. Going from memory.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what I was thinking Morley I think it's got something to do with our enemy's obsession with United across the M62 I cold be wrong but it just seems strange it stopped when we started playing them regular during the 90s.

Interesting press conference. I believe MC not in Leeds for the money and that he loves the game, but still can't work out why Hockaday. let's hope that 90 odd clubs have just not seen the ability in Hockaday that Cellino has us believe he has! Time will tell. let's give the man a chance and who knows. maybe MC is a magician after all! MOT.

Personally guys I am impressed with MC so far. The guy has come in to a club riddled with financial trouble mainly due to our previous incompetent owners and has set about changing that! Cutting costs was essential to getting us back on track. Sorting out the finances means that if at any point he does wish to sell (which I don't believe is his goal anytime soon) then potential investors will be much more keen to take over!

All along MC has said he wants a British coach which he has duely provided! I must admit I was a little shocked at the appointment of Hockaday but this could actually be a very shrewd appointment! Hockaday has all the coaching qualifications and will be on fairly low wages plus he has only signed a 2 year contract! MC's goal was premier league in 2 years, this guy could actually provide premiership football on the cheap! If not, we all know MC likes to sack managers so if after six months/year he isn't cutting it then it's financially easy to replace him! If we do make it to the premiership in 2 years then a new coach could be employed at the end of hockadays contract! Win win!

MC also loves attacking attractive football, Hockaday will have to provide this if he's going to want to remain at the helm! We all want to see that style of football! Again win win!

So far MC has stuck to his word! He said we need to invest in better players and I firmly believe he will once again deliver.

For the first time in a long while I think leeds are in safe hands with a potentially exciting future ahead! Let's give MC and Hockaday a good chance and get behind them! MOT

Yes, yes, yes. let's keep the positive vibes going, all the doom and gloom merchants dissing the manager/president/players etc. Read on one site that so many season tickets had been returned. Don't believe this for a minute, the world is full of negativity because it is so easy to buy into. All true Leeds supporters have to stand up and be counted. Does Massimo need the grief? Does he need to spend the millions he has done already? All he needs in return is positivity from the fans. It will a movement that gathers momentum, I advise all doubters to get on board, don't hold us back. Leeds Leeds Leeds. ps was at Robbie Williams concert the other night and he said Leeds Leeds Leeds, when the stadium responded he said "terrifying!". We are Leeds and we're proud of it.
MorleyWhite.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are we all saying that if after 6 month's Hockaday isn't doing the business he can be sacked on he cheap, for us to have any chance of staying in the championship we need to keep whoever our coach is.we can definatley kiss the premiership goodbye certainly not within two years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaggie, I'm not suggesting for one minute we sack him after six months, I for one agree consistency is vital but just stating a fact, if we play 10 and lose 10 at the start of the season are you going to be happy? MC is just cutting out financial risk! Which can only be good for our great club! MOT

Congratulations Dave Hockaday.
I personally do not think you are good enough but will be ecstatic to be proved wrong and will give you my full support as should all the LUFC fans.
Welcome to the Leeds family. You will never have experienced anything like this before (or possibly again).
I know you will give 100% as this will definitely be the job of your dreams.
Good luck and hold onto your trackies as this job will be the rollercoaster ride of your life.
See you @ Millwall (The Lions Den) how appropriate.

A lot of negativity regarding the new appointment, obviously I like most people would have preferred a higher profile man but to be honest after having Warnock and McDermott in charge for the last couple of seasons I can't see us playing any worse.

I think Cellino is going to bring in the players he feels can do the job and from reading the little bits of information I can find about Hockaday he likes to play good passing football and that for me alone is a step in the right direction considering the way we've been playing the last couple of years.

I wasn't a bit happy when McDemott got the job and was completely disgusted when Warnock had it before him but I gave them a chance and still supported them until their position became untenable.

Hockaday could be gone in 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or even 1 year but I think no matter what we will be preparing to play in the Premiership this time next year. Can't wait for the season to begin now.

Well said 'it is what it is' let's just support the team and The Hock and gl to all of them next season. I for one would love to see us do so much better than some want us to do.

Get a grip and get behind the guy and prove your support, yes he may not be your first choice but hey who is! We've had bigger names before & they failed. A theory for you all to chew over. Does either Carbone or Festa not have the required coaching badge. Mc not being a man to worry to much about red tape appoints the cheapest person he can find with the necessary coaching badge to be the public face, sit in the dug out and talk to the Tv person, someone with the gift of the gabb. Mc doesn't seem to let anything derail his plans. His past history is peppered with this kind of non respect for every day rules and regs. I think this may be the reason for such an appointment and also means he cannot explain this appointment to the fans. What you think fellow marchers on.

We are at a point where things could go very well or very badly. Hockaday has signed on. He did quite well on the coaching side with Watford and a couple of other clubs. That's g Gibbs Redfearn (if they stay) and Hockaday. Not Bad.It seemed as if the stumbling block preventing Salarno coming to Leeds was a possible move to Palermo. That now gone so we could have an experienced and proven Director of Football. Again not bad. He may bring Di Gennaro (GK) from Inter Milan. Not bad. Two other Italian strikers are being touted from Seria b. Good goal scoring records. Again not bad. At this point in time there is nothing to be gained from predicting disasters. MC appears to have a plan. There are a lot of 'ifs and buts and might be's' but back the man. If it doesn't work out then criticise if you want. Now is not the time. I can see potential. Let's wait and see. Looking forward to Millwall.

And the players will come! Of that I have no doubt. Watch this space. And any way we have nothing to lose. Under cellino if he doesn't get the results he will be out on his backside in no time! Just a thought. Is it a coincidence that Hockaday is announced as head coach the same day as England play in the World Cup? Mmmmmm

That aside, I will support any manager or player who does their best for our club, but this appointment has confused the hell out of me. Forest Green's reject to Leeds head coach doesn't inspire much does it.

I do hope we show our class and get behind him, but I don't think it will last long. He will need to win the first few games next season to get the fans on his side.

We can live in hope. Cross your fingers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am as disappointed as everyone else but it's done now. New players signing will be a bigger test of MC's ambitions. People saying relegation is a bit far fetched if hockoday doesn't win the first 5 games he will be out nothing more certain than that.

Time to get behind the team and stop whining. It is what it is!

19 Jun 2014 13:14:31
Well as much as we all protested, Hockaday is now officially Leeds United's head coach! Time to stop moaning, all we can do now is get behind the man and his coahing team and support the mighty whites. It may work out; stranger things have happened. I think.

On a more positive note it looks like Salerno may be Leeds bound after rejecting Palemo's offer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jun 2014 14:19:31
Blind faith and Leeds United have always gone hand in hand for me. I do not feel a massive disappointment as many do. Hockaday is a coach, the big decisions will be taken by Salerno and Cellino. This club needed sorting from top to bottom and some of the decisions will be hard to take but I do feel we are moving forward. It may work it may not but there is no doubting we needed a different approach and I will embrace it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope ya right harte, just massively underwhelmed and disapointed forest green? and was useless there not exactly inspiring.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2014 12:48:00
Well, trying to focus on the positives, we should remember that MC is trying to build a team of people, not just 1 man.

If we can get Salerno then you will have MC & Salerno buying the players, Carbone linking between them and a coaching staff of Gibbs, Redfearn and Hockaday.

It's unproven, but it may work, rather than 1 man having sole say about what goes on.

We've had disasters with "managers" in the past, signing people on ludicrous contracts that have proved nothing, suppose we have to give it a chance.

So who actually picks the starting 11.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it's fair to say the majority of Leeds fans are disappointed with this.

The big question now is what is the next move by MC. He needs to sign a quality player to appease the fans and the sooner the better!

Agree0 Disagree0

MC of course this was always going to be the way he was running it

Agree0 Disagree0

Suprised he's given him a 2 year contract, with Cellinos record and Hockadays a rolling weekly contract would have been better, no excuses for the sarcasm, Hockaday says he ticks all the boxes, i'm afraid he doesn't tick mine, but being Leeds we will support this weird choice, pleade don't raid Forest Green for players, what a divisive appointment.

I have read much on this site re Mr Hockaday. His situation has been compared to Mourinho and Rodgers! Wishful thinking Jose was at Barcelona and Rodgers at Chelsea not Forest Green Rovers and both a lot younger.
My concern is Mr Hockadays mindset that he actually believes he is the right man for the job. He is 56 has absolutely no track record of success anywhere and no league head coach experience! if you were a Chef at a greasy spoon on the A1 would you seriously consider yourself good enough to be the Chef at The Ritz!
My final point is that in life you want your boss, your leader, your captain, your coach to know more than you . You want them to inspire you, you want them to have achieved something and most of all you want to respect them for who they are and what they have achieved.
I am sorry Mr Hockaday does none of these things for me as a fan so I am sure it is the same for the players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jun 2014 09:40:47
This Hockaday situation hasn't seemingly been resolved yet, hopefully MC has had a change of heart and gone back to the drawing board for a rethink. Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey have left Tottenham today so could it be Tim Sherwood that's become available after turning WBA down that's forced this rethink? Wishful thinking maybe, although ssn sources arn't usually wrong and they'd nailed it to the mast that Hockaday was to be installed, and now its gone quieter than a church on a monday lol, so we'll see.

As for players, I can't think who we'd be after with no 'coach' iin place, so we dunno how we're hoing to play, yet any signings would be moronic lol.

Did MC state Leeds United would be playing in the Premier League by 2016? I'm sure this was one of his quotes. I reckon the rebuilding of our beloved club is longer than a two year plan. This season is consolidation, which after the past few seasons irks me a little, as we pay good money to be entertained and we don't get it. I know I have the option not to go, but the club is in my blood. Anyway I digress, this season is a consolidation period, next season hopefully will be the start of the rebuilding process, so does anybody see LUFC being back in the Prem anytime soon?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not me for one totally agree, more likely to be relegated than promoted this season. S. T coach on the way couldn't even coach a conference club, how does MC really expect professional footballers to respect the new coach when he hasn't proven anything
