Why is McCormack still penalty taker given he's now missed three this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha good one mate! which one of our 10 clowns around him would you prefer? cracked me up that lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I'd never have subbed Smith, seeing as he's the only one who suits hoofball. I'd have had Smith take it, but as he wasn't on, I'd have given Byram a go.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the second poster, everyone else around McCormack would have had no chance in my opinion to step up and take it. Ross is the only player at the minute who is showing any sort of passion/leadership, a penalty at home in the 94th minute to earn us a draw (looking at our recent form) in my opinion only Ross would have had a strong enough character to let it go if/when he missed. Byram/Mowatt/Poleon/Even Smith are all young players who could of been seriously effected mentally missing in that situation.

On another note I really fear the worst for us now, 21pts to play for and only 12pts above drop zone. I can't see us getting another point all season in all honesty.

Actually any of the others might be ok. because when they kick the ball even they don't know where its going to go, so I guess neither will the opposition keeper!

Agree0 Disagree0

I knew straight away that Mc would not score.
He is instinctive and penalties give him thinking time, a bit like the one on one`s he misses.
I`d give penalties to Warnock.
I`ve said it a thousand times before, a pro footballer should not miss a pen.
Please don`t harp on about pressure etc .

Last season Peterborough went down with 54 points. On our current form I can't see us getting another 7 to add to our 47. Last year was probably exceptional but the current bottom 3 have better form than us over the past 10 games. Will someone please sort this mess out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - I reckon 46/47 will keep a team up this year.}

Great stuff Ed. so we can all sleep easier. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit optimistic Ed, especially with Barnsley doing their annual great escape and I expect Millwall to start picking up wins. Birmingham are in a bit of a rut, but we still have to go there. We're in freefall and it won't be getting any better any time soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - I've thought it for a long while SG,some really poor teams in this years championship imo.}

If we can't beat Donny and Charlton at home were well in trouble with some tough games coming up, itll be the same old excuses.enoughs enough Brian, never mind the money please give us a chance of safety and walk, and please take Hunt and co with ya.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 21:46:10
Another defeat to Charlton, that's now 1 win we have in the last 10 games, sick to death of it. How many managers would still be in a job with that sort of record. Wigan will get a bag full at the weekend. League 1 here we come again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Apr 2014 21:45:24
Jesus, another home defeat and he says the players are behind him! Can anyone honestly see us picking up any points at all from our final few games?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Apr 2014 21:45:02
please someone tell me one reason to keep BMC?totally inept and looks like he cares less than the players, his tactics are truly shocking.
Don't say money, he could stay at home and we could draw eleven names out of a hat and get a better response with no one in the dug out. Truly poopy plops

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd love it if we could sack him, but who's going to pay his compo. God help us, we need one massive paddle to get us out of rubbish creek

Agree0 Disagree0

I think managers in this situation when the club can't afford to get rid should be treated like players. he is doing rubbish so drop him. Neil Redfern should step up and have a go.

just my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 21:56:09
We can't sack McDermott, it'd cost millions to pay him off, millions we don't have.
Also, we can't be educated points this late in the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The buck stops with the Manager. Nice guy but his record is absolutely shocking and I do not know how he has the nerve to stay. Just pack your bags and go please.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 22:27:35
Accept he can't be sacked in current circumstances. However, nothing to stop them sending him home on full pay, then asking one of the Elland Rd cleaners to manage the team til the end of the season. With us so bereft of absolutely anything on the pitch, would the cleaner do any worse?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 19:58:58
If mcd was going to start playing Byram on the wing surely it would of been better to keep pelts? Just saying

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is it 442 with Lees at right back?

Agree0 Disagree0

What keep pelts and leave byram on the bench?
Seems whatever BmD does or doesn't do he's wrong lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate. Couldn't agree more.
That's exactly what I said to friends earlier when the team sheet was announced. No logic in getting rid of Peltier and then playing Wooton at right back. Seems like it hasn't been thought out at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably isn't as simple as that I reckon he either wanted out or maybe wage bill. But admit its a very strange situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was to do with the wage bill BMC should of loaned out Hunt!

Agree0 Disagree0

Was done to thin the wage bill

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt on at half time for smith FFS

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard he had to lower the wage bill by 60% I think was mentioned.
Don't think anyone would want hunt on loan @ 25k a week.
Guess we will find out the REAL truth when Massino does or does not take over ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

He should send back Kebe and Butland if we're that desperate. Neither has been a good signing and they're both on massive wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Hunt is really on 25k a week. Phil Hay and Adam Pope commented that this was off the mark. I wonder if Cellino was maybe thinking of Kebe, easy mistake to make. Former player of McDermott at Reading, now at Palace, its likely he was on 25k a week in the Prem.

Here's a thought about the players.
When you have shed goals like we have, confidence sinks, the crowd then get on the players back, as we have a right to do. Confidence then completely drains away, so much so that you are terrified to do anything for fear of making a mistake its a vicious circle. likewise the manager, he's been sacked and is now trying instil confidence and beleif into players, when he has none himself probably he doubts every decision he makes at the moment. Knowing he more than likely to get the bullet very soon. Would anyone perform well in these circumstances? I am not sympathsing with BMD, I hoped for much more from him. This season which started with so much promise of a bright future. Has been ruined by the only company from the Gulf with no money and false promises. Just a thought.

Jeff

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Apr 2014 14:17:41
Jeff, of course it's 50/50 he either gets the go ahead or not. Their is no other stat involved. It's like saying Noel Hunt is overpaid true/false. Maybe that wasn't the best example, but still Brian from Weatherby, still managed to get it wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true don't you think your jeopardising that trust posting that you have just spoke to him, I know you have being told to be less cryptic but this post doesn't actually reveal anything we don't know and could put your links at risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

"It's like saying Noel Hunt is overpaid true/false"

No it isn't that's a straight 100% YES he is. Anyone being paid £25,000 per WEEK for doing NOTHING is a no brainer?

How many games has he actually played?

Work out how much per hour that figure equates to, playing time?

Agree0 Disagree0

Played 12 games In total for leeds so for 12 games say £25000 just for 12 games = £2080 ish so in 6 month 600,000 for 12 games = 50,000 a game! What a disgrace then again maths is terrible but seems about right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just had a quick calculation aswell - 12 games = 16 hours. 16 hours/£600, 00 = around 37, 500 per hour again maths not my strong point but I think we can see what I'm getting at.

Agree0 Disagree0

No need to pick on just one player lads, who knows what the other guys are being paid at least hunt puts the effort in.
Mind you so would I on 25k a week lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You actually need to take the TOTAL number of weeks he has been here and multiply that by £25,000 to find his wage so far? Assuming he's on £25K a week if he plays or not?

Then divide that total by the 12 games he has played this far this will give you a rate per game he has been paid.

Divide this by 1.5 to give you his hourly rate.

he came on 3rd July last year?

That's 9 months or 39 weeks, multiplied by £25000 gives you £975,000 (not much short of a million squid!).

Divide this by 12 games gives you £81, 250 per game, and if you dived that by 1.5 you get a paltry £54,000 per hour.

Good job he is not on performance related pay, he'd owe Leeds millions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol told you maths wasn't my strong point aha, then again my point has being more than strongly supported, losing a million a month I wonder why! Anyway we still ain't Portsmouth the poor sods.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2014 12:28:38
To be honest I think the interview showed the same feeling all us genuine fans have, BMD is now a joke him and his overpaid bench warmers can't get out of this club quick enough, I am sick of his selections, his pathetic subs and his poor leadership. If he had any pride he would resign but l know he and his mate Hunt are hanging around for their payoff. Come on massimo get the club and start again, let's get back to the glory days.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Apr 2014 12:26:33
There were very interesting revelations in the Cellino interview on White Leeds Radio. Noel Hunt is on £25,000 per week. Luke Murphy is on £22,000 per week and Ross McCormack attempted to leave for Cardiff City

Cellino was not very impressed with McDermott saying he spent too much time moaning and not enough time coaching. He described the team's performances since trying to sack McDermott as the worst football he's ever seen.

If he does win his appeal McDermott will be gone and a lot of the squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This is the best industry to be in without a shadow of a doubt its where a manager can make a complete and utter bantha of managing a football tem and walk away with millions, then get another job within a matter of days/weeks, and where very average players earn 6 figure sums and not even make the subs bench regularly the football worlds gone mad, rant over.

Agree0 Disagree0

I had no idea Murphy was on that much a week, thought it'd be like £5k. I expected Hunt to be on a very big wage, just thank God we didn't sign his brother as well.

Does anyone know if the ruling on the decision being correct/incorrect or actually or do they have the power to tell the FL to approve?
If it is to simply say the decision is wrong and they cannot consider MC guilty. Then the FL may simply wait for the outcome of the Italian appeal This would be the worst option of all - no sale to MC and no talks with other groups.
Any thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Appeal procedure is binding. Part of FL process. All good. Both sides can win. Leeds get Masssimo. FL shows they were hard arses.

Leeds, Cellino: "I have to expel McDermott, I do it for the good of the club"

photo by Daniele Buffa / Sports Image

"McDermott? Maybe hes a good coach, but he does not know how to manage a club." Massimo Cellino, The new owner of Leeds United, in the coming days will know if the appeal against the Football League will be accepted, meanwhile, puts his hands up on the manager currently in charge. "I tried to release him, but I do not have permission to do so. I think it is a good choice for us, to send him away. for the good of the team, and he does not like me and do not understand why". this not a perfect translation but best I could do. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - To be honest, although Brian has had a lot to deal with, his selections have been terrible and therefore I can see why Cellino would want a change}

BMC is a shambles of a manager. over the last month or so I have lost all my respect for him. He has no pride or dignity left now continuing to go on being beat by 3-4 goals. No other championship team gets beat like this and somehow he still expects to be in a job!?
The whole set up is diabolical and we fans deserve so much more. There is only contempt for him now listening to the same excuses week in week out. embarrassing! We need a clean slate and someone who can get the best out of these players consistently. Poor signings, poor results and one of the worst records and performances I've seen from a Leeds team. The new owner would be bonkers to keep him! TIME TO GO PLEASE

Well. last night I listened to the Massimo Cellino telephone conversation with the Leeds fan who had a dodgy accent. the accent of the Leeds fan made me think is it genuine or not but after seeing lots of posts on here confirming it and Ed saying it is 100% real it got me really excited at the thought of him coming in and ripping the club apart and starting from scratch.

I think if he gets what we all hope then all us Leeds fans will have a bright future and will soon have a club that can compete at the highest level.

I would expect that between now and the start of the 2014/15 season we will:

Own Elland Road and Thorpe Arche

We will be rid of BMD and have a passionate manager who knows how to get a team motivated

We will clear all the crap from the squad and keep a small group of players (Ross, Byram, Pearce, Mowatt, Smith)

Bring in better players on cheaper wages who will want to play for the club and the shirt

Re-develop some of the stands at Elland Road

Premiership Here We Come (obviously all the above is relying on him winning his appeal)

What pains me to say is. if he gets told know then all the above will be complete reversed with who ever decides to take us on next

Come on QC guy, do the right thing and give Massimo the chance to give us fans what we all deserve

I'm thinking we won't need to go into Administration to get us relegated this season, BMcD seems to be doing that all on his own with some terrible team selection and tactical decisions lately. He wasn't doing too bad before his sacking that wasn't, but since then he has made a lot of weird decisions. I suppose if he has the thought in his head that if Cellino does takeover he knows he is sacked that might lead him to doubt his decisions and question whether he is good enough and he maybe second guessing himself trying to think of something different to change things around

Just heard from a reliable source that BMD has resigned following a decision to allow Cellino to buy the club outright, plow in millions and get us back on track financially. The leeds team will also be completely restructured to play competitive and attractive football that would put a Brazilian team to shame! I did not just make this up and it was not just a dream - honest my uncles third cousin removed heard it from a guy that was buying a kebab in Wetherby and he got it from a bloke that used to cut the grass at TA!

The reserving judgement is just to make it look better. There is absolutely nothing to consider. Cellino has no grounds to overturn the quite proper FL decision and the QC will have come to that decision straight away.

He maybe just needs the time to secure all his horses and get into hiding before Don Cellino gets told to F.O.
