Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Apparently we have accepted a fee of £500k from Wigan for Austin.

This is a bad bad move, especially as we appear to be strengthening one of our "rivals".

But I guess we should have seen this coming, linked to Bamba, Pearce out. NGoye in, Austin out.

I understand we have to balance the books and keep our wages in check and he is probably one of the top earlenrs, but he is the only proven steel we have in the team.

I fear MC has a control freak type obsession to get rid of everything and anything that was brought in by previous owners and managers.

Ahh, well. Looking forward to Brentford and another 3 points

D.s.
I think we need to think of the bigger, and longer, picture. If he goes, good luck to him and thanks Rudy.
He could have been useful to us for the remainder of the season, but him and Jason Pearce and Warnock were never going to feature or stay beyond the summer, so I can see the reasoning if a fee can be obtained now. As long as we stay up, I'm happy that we are looking to the future. I'd be much more worried if there was a chance of Cook or Byram going this window. Let's see what tomorrow brings - and the loan window

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with the above that selling him would be a bad move at this stage of the season.Austin is a different sort of player to Ngoye and I believe we need them both. Whilst I appreciate that we may get decent money that would pale insignificance to us getting relegated. Why would you want to stregthen your rivals, and potentially make us weaker.

However the worst reason for selling would be that it undermines Neil Redfearn he only stated yesterday that he had been given reassurances that the club would not sell, how does it then look if we did, we have just started to put a decent run of results together with Austin playing why jeopardise the first feel good factor we have had on the pitch for a very long time.

It just makes NR look like a puppet who has no control at all over players coming in or going out, I know he is a 'coach' but this is the reason I don't like that role I think a normal manager would not allow this to happen.

A poor decision if it happens can only hope the club sees sense and gives a bit of respect to Neil Redferan.

All of this is true but we are now overloaded with central midfielders. I don't want Austin to go either but try getting half a mill for Tonge or Norris? We will use fee wisely I hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

We ain't going down. We're 8 points clear and just 2 points off 12th. We still have the majority of sides to play yet inc the whole bottom 5. As for Austin, this IS the right time to sell as he is put of contract in May. 230k profit on him too.

I've been a Leeds fan for longer than I care to remember but I never thought that I would utter the words ''Brentford at home next Saturday that'll be a tough one''.

Is Woolfood the best this once great club can do?? Really, A Millwall player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A Redfearn pick I am afraid. If he pulls on the white shirt he will get my support but I think we can do better

Smitchell and Notts, we can do better but who else do you want us to go for realistically? Deadline day, we toward bottom end of championship, absent owner, little spending power for many reasons including the embargo. Given those parameters, this will be a good signing. Apart from his uncanny resemblance to a former player of ours of Argentinian descent, he can really ping in a cross and pick out the target man. Just what we need. Watch Cook go more central again and Morison benefit. It also allows us to go 442 when we want to. This will be a good signing if we pull it off. Hear Tonge going in the opposite direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

George, I don't necessarily disagree however this is a signing that will turn permanent. Is Woolford the type of player to support a challenge next year? Short term maybe a good signing, long term no different than those we are still trying to move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe it's a case of - He's a winger, we need a winger, he's available, let's get him then.

Agree0 Disagree0

George, I would say Ben Pringle would be a better signing (mainly due to age) for the longer term.

Agree0 Disagree0

Notts, the fact he may or may not turn permanent is irrelevant. I accept he is not of upper championship or lower premier league quality but we need crosses headers knock downs flick ons goals and points. Woolford can help. He can always be sold or bench warmed when the time arises. Redders has found a new system of playing which works. He is now tailoring the team in a bespoke manner to maximize. That's smart. If we have a good tomorrow I rather think come beginning of March fans will be saying if only the owners realized this was the way to go in August. Btw selling Smith was such a dumb mistake.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed we need wingers but disagree that having an average player permanently is irrelevant. Many bemoan (including myself) those players who are drawing a salary for doing nothing. Long term Woolford maybe one of those players. Agree that short term gain is important in our current position

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - A journo at the Millwall end is saying Woolford is now unlikely but not a dead deal - make of that what you want.}

We have Bianchi, N'Goyi, Adryan and Sloth still on the bench who can't get games, why do we need one winger? If we sign him, who pays the other flank? Saying that, Mowatt is a left winger according to Neil .

Smitchell, many teams play with only 1 recognized out and out winger because the game has moved on. Under Oleary we tended to play Kewell on the left but no-one on the right as such. Batty and Dacourt played centrally and Bowyer would play with a free role box to box and floating over to the right sometimes. There was no right winger then. Admittedly, having a Snoddy and Gradel was kinda cool but it's rare. Yes there are players collecting a wage for nothing but this is due to combo of previous era and Cellino's realization we would be hit with the embargo so he over invested in midfield as the Hock convinced him foolishly about diamonds. We now trying to correct that and you got to start somewhere. Starts with Woolford or not as case may be but the strategy is correct. If Morison holds up ball the best we must find a winger to give him service. This will benefit Sharp too.

Georgein
Did you every watch O'Dreary's leeds?
Kewell, when he could make an effort, always played on right

Agree0 Disagree0

Suppose Byram can play as a right winger, but that leaves 2 central midfielders to pick and one will be Cook leaving 7 players competing for 1 spot

Agree0 Disagree0

Richard, Kewell clearly played on the left and sometimes would play up top with JFH and Wilcox or occasionally Bridges drifting out to the left.

I think the reason our form has improved significantly is more down to the new range of anti perspirant products the club uses, rather than personnel or tactics.

"I now look at them and they are reacting well to things and sorting things out on the pitch and there is a good smell about them." Redfearn told BBC Radio Leeds.

Coincidence?

If Redfearn had used the word feel instead of smell, would you have argued that the players had become more effeminate?

George
Thats rather tart-ist and car-ist of you.
Nothing wrong with a nice mini, or a tasty tart. I generally choose a jam one first and then a lemon if I'm having two (which I usually do). Of course an iced mince one is the best of all!
