6 from 18 points. consider that good enough?
Our position is a true one, need at least 3 classy players as others will strengthen and queuing up behind us never mind the ones above. shrew Leeds

First game of season for me today and here is how I saw it. Granted not a regular but still know enough to have an opinion that isn't far off. No doubt I will get slated but here goes

Kenny - injured so hard to judge. Maybe should have done better with the first goal

Lees - hoof ball, decent in the air though and won his tackles.

Zaliukas - maybe at fault for goals - general open play did well.

Pearce - wow, this guy constantly looks under pressure and like he doesn't have a clue what to do. Unnerving to say the least

Pugh - best player on lufc team sheet. Solid

Byram - poor first half, got better in second and did ok

Murphy - was he injured, looked a poor buy ala Noel Hunt

Mowatt - looked shattered throughout but played well but going to be a real asset.

Austin - red card waiting to happen - passing game too slow, defensively though did well

Mccormack - did his best, had to keep coming deep to get the ball as there is no creativity for him

Smith - did ok. Nothing special

Another question to you all. Set pieces, Brian Mc puts smith at front post. WHY would we do that. Once the ball goes over his head as it does often from a corner, he is out of it. The guy is a gian and should be defending in the mixer of it all not on the front stick on the hope he can prevent it making it past the front post

All in all a few decent purchases and we can maintain the top 6 push

Other than that, the crowd was great numbers wise but seemed a tad flat. Is that down to recent results?

Hopefully people have their own opinions on this

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pugh's been about the best player for the past few games. Does his job. Yesterday the rest were average to say the least. We have played better than yesterday, but I do think we have over achieved so far this season. Brian Mc is tying to make us a difficult ream to beat, which he hasn't done a bad job at. However, we are one dimensional and hopefully new additions will get us back on the right track.

Supporting leeds is like playing snakes and ladders one syrup forward two back. Need these new recruits now. Four games ago 5th looking good, four bad games now 8th. Lucky Charlton and Reading did us some favours

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's been the same for years mate, christmas is always a disappointment. wonder if January will be too!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought our midfield was non existent again today - exposing our defence. No Width - so no service for Ross & Smith. Byram & Mowatt looked class in second half. Reid bossed midfield at Forest. Two midfielders would make a big difference. Stickey

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate.JD

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the last few games have been a reality check. Our style of play has been found out, our team is either the same each week or even weaker and therefore teams know what were going to do. We need a decent striker along with mccormack like blackstock so we can change our style and bring on smith when we need a goal. I think smith could be a le fondre type player

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure we may need a striker, but if we don't have a decent midfield there will be no service and the defence will always be under pressure. To be fair to Smith he did a lot of defending and running in the first half when the rest of the team lacked effort.

Not too disappointed about the result today for some reason.
As people are saying, we are work in progress and realistically in with a shout for 5th or 6th place as everyone drops points.
Lets see how strong we are after this window and some summer activity and clearance of the rubbish left by the warlock.
Next season is a far more realistic shout for promotion. It`s hard keep waiting for success, but look at Bolton`s plight.
Lets trust the manager and the board, let's be a united, Leeds united.

Spot on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post Trev, good to see a reasoned post instead of all the knee jerk stuff, given some quality signings we could still make the playoffs, but next season looks more likely, at least we are going in the right direction, there's a lot of twists and turns in this league yet so let's keep backing the boys and see where it takes us, and a happy new year to all Leeds fans wherever you are and the eds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I'm well dissapointed with todays performance, and its not a knee jerk comment, Before the game in the pavillion Reaney made a few home truth comments, one being the lack of leadership on the pitch and Austin not being the right man for captain, I thought it was belittling at the time but he is right. The midfield is poor both in energy and quality, as Mcdermottt said himself after the game other teams Have sussed us out, and I would say Murphy and Austin are the week links with poor passing and tackling, not only that but opposing teams are bossing us about and influencing the refs in their favour, some of the refs decisions today beggard belief the crowd voiced their anger but our players just seemed to accept it imagine the likes of Strachen putting up with it, We need a Captain that will protect and stick up for the players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Bolton will be in administration before end of season. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

I`m agreeing with you ANDY64,
never been much of an Austin lover, makes a good tackle now and again but not got enough composure. And he isn`t a Vinnie type leader! The reason I wasn`t too disappointed was because I`m not expecting this team to win consistently. We def need some new recruits.
Paul Reaney what a legend :)

I was at the game today and the referee was absoloutely terrible which isn't a exscuse for a poor performance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep was listening on the radio ref was so out if control, did his job an ruined the game especially for leeds united .

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you see it when 2 Blackburn players were down injured, both needed treatment and incredibly ref forgot to tell them to go off to side for a few moments. They just stayed on and played on. Disgrace. JD

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think the linesman helped out either, but to be honest we were still poor. How Austin keeps his place I don't know

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on then your saying drop austin but who in are squad would do a better job than him

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul Green offers more than Austin. I'd even go as far as stating Michael Brown and Tonge would be a better option. Brown was probably the MOM at Blackpool

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree the referee was terrible but that probably worked in our favour over the 90.

Fairly early in the first half they were clean in one on one with Kenny one of our players went in from behind took the player down then go the ball, would and should have been penalty and a red card.

It was a terrible performance from us and we deserved nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

For starters green is injured, brown is a red card waiting to happen how he still gets in the squad I will never know, tonge can pass but he can't run or track back so to say there better than austin is a joke

We can forget automatic promotion now. On a lighter note, Sheffield Wednesday fielded 3 players called Johnson today. got to be some kind of record.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Forget Automatic promotion Now? lol with this squad it was never on! Unless we bring in Quality players now we can forget about the play-offs as well. MOT

We were never in contention for automatic promotion. We are top ten with current squad. The Christmas programme has proved that we don't have the quality to play 3 times in a week, we still struggle with 2 games. On the plus side we are going in the right direction and hopefully will add a bit of quality in the next few weeks. The last 3 games have been very disappointing but all we can do is move on and keep trying.

Agree0 Disagree0

30000 plus and like the poster before, too many players not up for it- why?
As a leeds fans, we can forgive defeats but not putting in the effort after a previous dire home performance at home (Barnsley) an half hearted display at forest then today, things need to be sorted and quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

MCd should have predicted the tiredness. You know from training and games. He might as well have rested Ross and Smith for Varney & Poleon and then play the big guns for Rochdale. I feel he may rest them for Rochdale and then we get beat so one game too late. I'd rather rest players and lose than play the best team and get beat. We are not in a position of strength to acquire these 4 players now.

Would love to see gradel back in a Leeds strip but personally would welcome back Sanchez watt dropped down to league one with Colchester but a really good winger in my eyes? Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not for me - he's awful & didn't do anything the first couple of times we had him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watt? Lol. That guy had a talent for getting in great positions with the ball only to fall over as he was about to shoot.

after the initial boost of confidence when the pending takeover was announced, looks like we're going back to early season form. get it finalised faster ffs, and sign some decent players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Realistically were good enough with a push to make the playoffs but I can't see more than that. Then it will be a wing and a prayer hoping that we produce a good show over a 2 leg playoff and then produce in a final against the likes of Burnley, QPR, Leicester, Ipswich, Derby, Forest. can't see that this year unless we buy into 3 good players who make a difference.

We are carp. Didn't agree with BMd team selection today. He shoulda rested Smith. Where is Dioufy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are what we are, an average championship side who get found out when up against better quality players. Mid table at best I am afraid.

Not a rumour as such. But I believe we should be looking at players from league 1 with quality. Personally, I feel Jay Emmanuel Thomas should be a great signing.

Bolton in debt for 163mill bet Bates is licking his lips.
On a serious note just shows that lessons have not been learned so we should not be signing players we cannot afford.

Good luck to the boys today, very winable game and after the last two results, I think 3 points and a decent performance would give us all a lift going into the new year and new transfer window. I d be the first to admit when we win I m ecstatic, when we lose I m gutted but, being realistic I know we need better players to push us on, which Bmac WILL bring in, hopefully this month. I also feel that, although the current/new owners have not really been setting the world on fire, they have been making positive steps in stabilising the whole club which will take time. I d rather be a championship club with the best fans in the world behind me, slowly building for the future with minimal debt than a championship club in a lower position than us with £163m of debt (Bolton). We have a great manager in Bmac who is taking us forward. At the last Lorimers bar evening he said he doesn t agree when we sing 'we re not famous anymore', he s right, we are famous and we always will be, we have fans in all countries in the world no matter how small, only big clubs can boast that, and we are a big club, the difference is in recent years we just haven t been a successful club, you need premiership football for that and it will come back to us. When the Leeds United machine gets fully rolling, we will be a force again. Ok that's my rallying call over, I think last nights Guinness is wearing off now. Happy new year to ALL Leeds United fans (and EDs )wherever in the world you are, 2014 will be the year we awaken again. MOT

hi and happy new year. imo we need to relax and be a little more patient rome wasn't built in a day. we can all see we now have a good manager and things are starting to get better on the green stuff. also off the pitch lots of good things are happening. so if we continue to improve it would be logical to say that in the near future we will gain promotion to the promised land. however if we do this in an organised and controlled manner then the infrastructure of the club will have moved forward enough so that we would have a far better chance of retaining our premier league status. so keep up the good work to all at leeds and please fans don't expect instant success mot

Not a rumour, more a question, does anybody think the winger (if this is what he's after) bmcd is after is again Chris Burke?
I don't know if he's signed a new contract with Birmingham
ornot?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I believe we are in for him. He is a reliable player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Chris Burke would be a great signing, apparently £500,000 was too much in the last transfer window but due to his contract ending soon I would think a lesser fee would now be the case. He played very well against us and more recently has been getting good reports in all their games he seems to make things happen and is a traditional type winger which I think we need.Could be a real bargain.
