Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Leeds look set for a baron summer of transfer activity! The sad reality is that despite Leeds being a big draw at Championship level the sort of players we need to improve will inevitably go where the money is which is not Elland Rd. Bates needs to decide if he wants to take the club forward as I believe our current wage structure will prevent us signing the few quality additions we need for the promotion push. It saddens me as a Leeds supporter that Bates seems to be blind to the fact that these free signings are fine but the quality free agents come with a bigger wage demand. Loans and frees are hit and miss and we seem intent on volume above quality on the evidence of last season, too many passengers along for the ride! I say cut the volume and invest what little we seem to want to spend in 2 or 3 top players to get us to the promised land again. KB and SG need to appreciate that sometimes less is more it's not a competition to compile the biggest squad

Why don't you just hang yourself now? Give them a chance!

Agree7 Disagree3

Moan, moan, moan! Let's wait and see eh?

Agree5 Disagree3

Is a year not long enough to have waited?

SG gets criticised for having a pretty ordinary record in the transfer market and its true enough that the players he has brought in have generally been really dissapointing (Bessone, Paynter, Collins, Bruce, Connolly etc).

Thing is when the only targets the Chairman's finances allow him to go for are players who can't get into the first team at lesser championship clubs its hardly surprising.

he might occasionally drop lucky but for every Max Gradel we will be lumbered with paying contracts to 5 Fede Bessones.

That leaves him going for loan players (who again can't get into their first team) and even then they're the low cost loans.

Agree2 Disagree1

Wait until August and then moan if the squad isn't good enough. Doing my head in now.

IS A YEAR NOT LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE WAITED???

We were in the same position last year as we are now and look what happened. .

. .a watertight back 4 of Connolly, Collins, Bruce and Bessone. .

. .a midfield of Adam Clayton, Ramon Nunez, Barry Bannan and Jake Livermore. .

. .up front Billy Paynter and Ross Mcormack.

Not exactly blinding successes so far?

Connolly and Bessone were replaced by loan signings during the season; Collins was sold within months of arriving; Bruce was gaff prone and couldn't hold down a regular spot; Nunez & Clayton managed something like 5 substitute appearances between them; livermore and Bannan were peripheral figures & Paynter and Mcormack managed a combined total of just 3 goals.

The manager worked miracles with a small number of decent players but had the Chairman opted not to be outbid by heavyweights such as Watford so we bought just a couple of decent players we'd have got second spot.

Agree1 Disagree0

Fair enough about back 4 but bannan was class above when i saw him at norwich especially and jake livermore given more time looked a decent player, clayton was never going to be instant success cos he is still young and finally Ross McCormack has gat fit at the end of the season and he scored 2 in 2 and somehow got in the Scotland team?? A bit desperate maybe! !

Why are we in for Jack Cork? He was crap for Burnley at Elland Road. What did he offer? Oh yeh, a shot that just went over the crossbar. I'm sure that's what we're really looking for. Let him go to Blackpool or Southampton, we don't need him.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

He's a good player no doubt, he had a bad game against us but so did the whole Burnley side, he'd be an improvment on kilkenny for sure and that alone would make him a good signing for us.

Agree6 Disagree1

We need someone to replace johnson as our shooting over the bar midfielder.

Isn't Barry Nicholson the one we we're after when Gary Mac was manager? He's 32 so not young!

I don't get why people are saying Ken Bates is tight and we got no money to spend, there are decent players out there who you don't need to give big wages too, we have made money lately so why do we wanna think its ok to start spending big on players id rather no were good financially than risk it.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

No one is asking us to put the Goldfish back in the offices just for Bates to spend appropriately, we have one of the biggest gates in the league & pay the highest tickets prices so we should expect to see some decent money spent on the team, keeping in mind we've brought n well over 10million in players sales since administration.

BTW there's nothing wrong with free transfers as long as they have the quality to improve the team.

Agree6 Disagree0

But most of them are not

Agree1 Disagree0

Spot on.

For Bates Leeds United is just a toy to play with and an excuse for him to mouth off about the FA/Football League/other Chairman/agents/FIFA/the council or whatever.

It also gives him a nice steady income whilst claiming there's money to spend (that never gets spent) or that we're saving to buy Thorpe Arch (and then don't).

When fans questions this he, or one of his lackeys, claim that trying to compete on wages with a Watford, Swindon, Coventry or Sheff Utd is somehow equivalent to signing Seth Johnson for £20k a week more than his agent wanted.

He must find it hilarious when fans strt saying it too.

I really don't think he has any interest in making us successful - he knows his limits - and a championship nearly man suits him just fine.

just seen someone coming out of thorp arch who looked like tresor kandle, didn't think it could have been him but after seeing the rumour below it looks like he might be coming back!

Obviously the same person posting about Kandol. Go his name wrong both times. No chance of use resigning him.

Promotion & relegation costs united dear. . I have it on good authority Graysons preferred midfield pairing for next season with deals ' done' was Keith Southerne and Darren Pratley. Blackpools relegation has caused blackpool to rethink the release of Southern . . Swansea's promotion will see Pratley Stay put. Its now back to the drawing board. . expect a last ditch effort to keep Johnson

Roll back 12 months and the preferred pairing with close to 'done' deals was Montgomery & Eustace until they negotiated with Leeds and both found their current clubs were willing to pay them more than we would.

I'm sure that as the summer unfolds we will be thrilled to sign a couple of freebies who can't get regular first team football at mid table championship clubs (like Bruce, Collins & Connolly); and a one season wonder from League One (like Paynter).

Should that not work we could always play the loan market that has served us so well in the past by signing commited, enthusiastic players who will play week in week out and transform the team with their skill and endeavour: like Trundle, Mcsheffrey, Bannan, Lowry and Livermore did.

Exciting times ahead.

Haha - quite! We need more like Sanchez Watt. !

Bradley Johnson says he's still undecided about his future. He says he's had some good offers but his heart is still with LUFC. If you don't believe me, look on twitter.

The twitter account is fake!

BJ has stated on LUTV that he wants to stay. . SG and KB also backed up this statement

Leeds should sign Michael Johnson (Man City), Dave Jones (Wolves) and Jem Karacan (Reading). All quality players but Johnson and Karacan would cost money. The question is will Bates invest for the fans and for the future.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Each summer and January Bates likes to claim there's money available but mysteriously nowt gets spent.

This time SG has said the policy will be just to look at freebies so maybe Kenneth will surprise us and spend a fraction of the money from the Chelsea compensation, Delph sale, Collins sale, profits etc.

Maybe.

Haha strugglers I don't see promotion from league one and finishing 7th is struggling do yo no. And as are team hit over 80 goals last season a league 2 striker will not be number one target

Don't think it's fake, sorry mate!

Hope the twitter about Bradley wanting to stay is a fake. Not another season with him. Not quite bad enough to eat my season ticket but along the road. I presume he has realised that premiership is a division too far for his limited talents!
