Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

What's everyone's thoughts on murphy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think he's showing promise. Will take time to settle in and perform but I think he's showing effort. Reasonable purchase at this stage but I wouldn't say he's set the game alight

Agree0 Disagree0

With time and better players around him he will be a lot better, I got told his passing was special but if no1s making the runs he wants them to its pointless having a great passer in the side

Agree0 Disagree0

I noticed against Doncaster when he came on this guy is class just unappreciated. Mowatt I thought played well but as soon as Murphy came on we went from lots of Doncaster possession to us controlling the game again instantly.

He is wasted on the left side of the diamond midfield, we need wingers So we can play him in the centre mid and he can play the striker and wingers on to the ball

I can't believe the number of people on the tv pages slating leeds for how we played yesterday. It's quite obvious that Bmcd set us to get a point which, given the ability of sides on display was entirely sensible, and barring one free kick we very nearly managed it . 1 defeat from seven games and people complaining? 1 defeat in 5 in the league will c us there or thereabouts at the end if we keep that up, we have already played leciester and Rangers in that stretch, and don't look too bad for it. People also clamouring for spending this year, not sure too much too soon is all that wise we have already spent couple mil on wotton and murphy. 1 winger in either perm or loan and that would be that. Also hoping that the likes of maybe Parkin Mowatt and dawson get to play in league cup

Future is white boys just a little perspective!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with everything apart from the manager setting up for a point, we have never played for a point at ER and any manager who does should be sacked. Vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

He quite clearly went for the win. He brought on two strikers during the match and the full backs pushed up a lot especially warnock

Agree0 Disagree0

He went for the win, but we weren't good enough to take the points. I think QPR came for the point, but hoped to catch us on the break. On the plus side we defended pretty well, something we haven't done in the past few seasons, however we wouldn't have scored if we were playing until next Saturday.

Lads how good a player/prospect is Alex Mowatt? Starting to hear rumours in Ireland about how good he is. From what I hear he's a creative mid?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Seen him pre season and has all the ability to be a great player would have him instead of Green & far better prospect than Dawson

I appreciate the fact that his wage demands probably will never coinside with our budget, but Ricardo Quaresma is a free agent and has Ben for a few months now! On his day one of the best wingers in the world. A long shot, but imagine it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2013 21:07:02
So why has he been a free agent for a few months?

Agree0 Disagree0

One of the best in the world?!?! What are you on?!

Agree0 Disagree0

He did say on his day. on his day being, 2002 Champ Manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was at chelsea at one stage in his carear which I think makes him more rhan good enough for a championship side. Although we couldn't offer the wages he wants

Agree0 Disagree0

Michael Duberry was at Chelsea once too

personally I think we will be between 8-10th in the league and have a real go next season what do you anyone else think

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Id happily take that

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 21:15:10
With the current squad that is probably about right as I said earlier. A good run and a bit of consistency could even put us in play off mix but as long as we continue to improve I will be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 21:17:15
i think we will end up 3rd this season, there only seems to be qpr that have that something this season

Agree0 Disagree0

At best 4th but likely 5th. I would be happy with a playoff spot but like everyone else I would like us to deliver something special and put a good run together in last 3 months and dream

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will improve under mcdermott players like smith and poleon will be big improvement as well scoops

Agree0 Disagree0

2nd for me we have depth, and belief MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Youd happily take that?
i own a business and understand profit and loss and overheads.
to go forward on many occasions I have had to take a slight risk in paying an extra wage which in turn improved us and ended up with more profit long term.
now why can't gfh take a slight gamble, pay for 2 players we desp need on loan or perm but in the long run it could make the diff of going up or not.just imagine there reward for us going up.
a winger and a striker who can score goals in the box and we can be as good as anyone.
i for one think 8 to 10th is not acceptable.its realisitic yes but aren't we in this division to try to go up. shrew leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Because they don't need to gamble, peoples contracts end in the summer and they can release and resign, no risk thn and a strong possibility of going up, they are a long term investment bank, not a smash and grab investment cowboys. Waiting one extra year to get in the premier league is what there happy to do

Frustratingly, still no movement on any wingers coming into Elland Road as far as I am aware! however anything could happen tomorrow so let's hope for the a surprise or two.

What I have heard though is to expect movement on two players McDermott has monitored all summer, loan bids will be made for Matt Mills and Kevin Doyle with both Bolton and Wolves eager to cut the wage bill and time running out.

The outcome of these deals will depend on interest in said players elsewhere, but if there is a lack of interest, there is a good chance both players will be Leeds players by the end of Monday.

Doyle and Mills may come as a surprise to some due to the Wootton signing, and Smith and Hunt already signed up front, however McDermott trusts these players and their quality greatly and values their experience in the squad, loan deals are absolutely ideal for him and the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2013 20:23:04
Still not a winger

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 21:11:44
I can't see either of these now, we have enough strikers and with Peltier as cover we can manage with CB's. Any free wages will surely go on width. As I said earlier Marc Albrighton is available on loan if not permanent.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 11:53:51
We are a work in progress, evolving team that is currently capable of top 10. The style has improved, the defence has improved but still unfortunately susceptible to free kicks and corners. We need width and pace but also need to clear a lot of dead wood (a number of which are out of contract next summer). On the plus side we have a long term manager who is capable of building a side to reach the premier league but it won't happen overnight. Much as I wish we could win every game, it just isn't going to happen. Yesterday showed where we are lacking but also showed we are not a million miles away. Byram on the right and a new winger hopefully on the left could make a massive difference, further gradual involvement of Mowatt would also be a good thing. This is potentially the beginning of a very exciting period for us but like it or not we need to keep things in perspective and realise it will take time. On the subject of Hunt, he has not found any form yet but McD would not have signed him if he did not think he could do a job especially considering the constraints of the wage budget. Every defeat hurts and there will be more to come (unfortunately) but I think we are going in the right direction at last. It is 37 years since I realised what it is to be LEEDS and the feeling it gives me is like no other, I am as frustrated as anybody but I think now the foundations are being laid in the right way and I feel more confident in McD that I have in any manager for a long time so let's stay UNITED and the rewards will finally come.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

100% bang on.

01 Sep 2013 17:16:24
Cheers Aus! oh and one more thing, Marc Albrighton is allegedly available on loan/permanent. let's go get him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its good to see a sensible appraisal of where we are and our true potential going forward. We just have to be patient!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 10:45:49
Don't know if this is looking into nothing or not but bmd was on the m62 towards Manchester hopefully might be going to try sort out a transfer deal. We was grid locked and clear as day it was him at side of me

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you 100%. it could have been Paddy off Emmerdale.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will find he was on a flight to Dublin last night, there are pictures of him on twitter with Leeds fans so it wasn't him on the m62

Agree0 Disagree0

It was probably Harry hill you saw

Agree0 Disagree0

Diouf is the best footballer at the club bar non he's a thinking mans footballer, he brought more to the game on sat in 10 mins than the rest of the team did in 80 mins, wake up he's slower as he won't get faster with age just smarter.we need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 10:27:01
I can't believe these people who think that diouf is best player we got and keep him, he's the only player we got who can't last a full 90 mins has no pace, and we are paying 10k a week for the privilege.McDermott sees him every day in training and obviously feels he's not up to it that's why he gives him 10 mins, so yes definately sell him given the chance and bring someone in who has pace and can last a full 90 mins.fans take off the diouf tinted glasses.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Diouf's returning from injury so that probably plays a factor in the amount of time he is playing at the moment. Yesterday when Diouf came on he put more balls into the box than anyone else had in 80 minutes and looked a threat he just needs to get some fitness back. he's not the first i'd be looking to get rid of Norris and Pugh have quite high wages too I think and offer a lot less than Diouf

Agree0 Disagree0

He may not have pace, but he has skill and intelligence, I think those two aspects are wasted on the bench, we only have McCormack who can open up opposition defences and if he keeps running around like he is at present to get the ball he'll be burnt out by christmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diouf showed more in 10 minutes than varney and hunt have done all season .he may not last 90 mins but will create more than the rest off our midfield also winds up the opposition

Agree0 Disagree0

Varneys done well, get off the 'i hate varney' band wagon!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 10:04:20
noel hunt was awful yesterday varney worked hard but did nothing. McCormack was good but he could do with someone to pass to who dosnt stand on the ball or the ball hits the back of his foot. matt smith can change games IF he has someone who can cross the ball.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

McCormack was terrible, he did nothing all game. The thing that stood out was the lack of creativity.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree. Noel hunt does just run around, not making a difference to the game. When he does get the ball he can't get rid of it fast enough which meant we lost possession frequently.
We need a winger of mccormack's quality who adds pace and creates chances for the strikers. I also think smith could change games and he should be used as an impact sub who could get late goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross needs support going forward a pacy winger?!?, I actually thought Warnock was disappointing yesterday after I had been praising him, gave the ball away several times and a shocking back pass that let Charlie Austin in

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah everyone knows we need pace in the squad that's what's stopping us scoring goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccormack did as good as anyone else the problem was hunt . I've never seen a player perform so bad

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt was bad but if you have never seen a player play so badly you obviously didn't even watch the game as Warnock was FAR FAR FAR worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 09:44:39
Dont get the hate for varney on here. I think he's improved since last year and if he gets chances he will probs score but he hasn't and if it wasnt for him we would of been in worse trouble last season uf he didn't score 2 against sheffield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like Varney, he works hard and gets in some good positions, he's not the most skillfull but is a good squad player - Smith is young and will improve if he gets the right service - Poleon the same but Hunt is is a waste of good money - all this only proves that we desperately need a winger and a better striker to challenge for the top

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 09:39:05
Issue that I saw from yesterday's game is that we are too slow moving the ball around the park. No zip in the passing, just meant QPR could follow the ball.

On a positive note, we are still going ok and if we can bring 1 in, happy days

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2013 09:09:56
After watching the Leeds game on TV
I don't think Noel Hunt is going to make any impact for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2013 08:24:28
I do have full faith in bmd and I think he has give us a turn for the better but ya can't help to think, wot the hell was he doing when he brought hunt in he must of known wot he was like and then the donkey smith. With the wages them two take up we could of got 1 decent striker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2013 21:26:11
smith is young and new to this level of football give him time he will be a big threat this season

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 06:45:35
Not the worst result yesterday against money bags & Arry. We desperately need a goal scorer. Varney is a grafter, Hunt is terrible, Poleon will work all day but has no end product, and Smith is just a target man when we need to change the game. We need an out & out 20 goal a season man.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have one - he's called McCormack!

He needs to play more upfront and have better service - (i.e. through balls from a proper AMC and acurate crosses from the wings). Then he'll have that 20+ goal factor.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 21:30:49
mccormack is in the best place for his style of play . we need a striker like wells . most of our strikers at the club are more the wide men in a 3 man attack poleon, mccormack, varney even hunt and diouf . only really got 1 cf and that's smith

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2013 02:18:17
Lacked pace on the wings today very narrow, we genuinely need a winger as many of you have known for a while, whilst I do like Mackay-Steven if we fail to sign him I think we should go for Jordan Ibe on loan. Also someone we could look is Serge Gnabry on loan from arsenal he would add nice width. Another young lad my mate mentioned the other day is Zeki Fryers don't know much about him other than he played for the and would probly be allowed to leave Spurs on loan. Now they are some good young prospects that will all probly be allowed to leave on loan for the season. But my next suggestion is one that might cause a stir, Vincente, some years ago he was a bright talent in Europe I don't really remember hearing much of him(after all the buzz) till he signed for Brighton. Since being released by Brighton he has hit out at ex manager Poyet, He is available on a free and in my eyes would be a great player just to have in the squad and has excellent passing skills, if the game has been messy and you send him on with 20 mins to go he could find that cutting pass for McCormack or Poleon to run onto! Anyway my rants over just some suggestions! M.O.T

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Sep 2013 01:48:41
just for a bit of fun I have compiled a few free's we could consider!
1) Vincente
2) T.Hitzlsperger
3) D.Parret
None of these players are world class but I think they could play championship level, Dean parret could be intresting was quite a prospect at spurs who never really got a chance!

I was thinking if hall ha not changed how good his crossing is then way don't we use him. We could bring on matt smith and Ryan hall together so that smith has height and the head to get a goal from the area and hall delivers some good cross to smith, it might work

Let me know on you through about my idea thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great idea sack mcdermott you are the future to our sucsess!

hall not fit yet, thought he was going to get some game time against donny but then he sat back down

31 Aug 2013 22:53:37
Went today, my first game under bmd.can see a massive change in the style we play since Warnock, apart from when that bloody donkey smith came on!
In the first half we outplayed qpr, but didn't really have any penetration, though I thought varney played well until he was subbed. Those double subs gifted the game to qpr, all our neat passing and movement appeared to go out of the window, replaced with hoof ball for Smith, who at 6ft6" was worse than useless in the air, was at fault for the goal and was crap with his feet.he should never play again for us!
Was not impressed at all with Warnock at left back, though i'm sure it was just an off day.
I don't think well be far away from playoff s, but not convinced we have the creative spark yet to be consistent enough to challenge.
Overall pleased with the performance against what was a very good qpr side, if they don't get automatic with the quality of Wright Phillips, Barton, austin, hoilet etc they need shooting!
And just to finish, ruddy what a shot, so desperately unlucky with a 35 yarder!

MOT, the future is looking good my friends!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very true, poleon and diouf should have come on and put mccormack up front. Smith is awfull I don't know what he is doing at leeds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith was no worse than the rest of the team so leave him alone. We never outplayed QPR at anytime in the match so I think you we're at the wrong ground. We may be passing a bit better but we are still a mid table side at best. 4 points from 3 home games says it all. Without two class signings we are no where near promotion challengers. McD can only do so much with average players.

Agree0 Disagree0

No paddy kenny was at fault for the goal he's the one that couldn't keep hold of the ball as for calling matt smith a donkey bet you wasnt saying that tuesday night shows how fickle are fans really are.

Agree0 Disagree0

O.p. here.the first 35 mins we had the vast majority of the ball and they hardly had any attacks, that I feel constitutes outplaying them. As for matt smith, I didn't see him on Thursday, but we were playing a league 1 side, not the quality of qpr. If he can play well against league 1 quality good for him, but how will that help us against qpr, Wigan, forest, Bolton etc!? As for the goal did you not see smith nearly knock kennys head off by charging in like an express train, fall over and then take an age to get up again!

Agree0 Disagree0

It was actually charlie austin that knocked into kenny not matt smith why do you fans like you always slate are own players

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you really a fan you don't even know what day we played donny it was tuesday not thursday as for them been a league one side turnbull, khumalo and wabara all signed from prem sides

Agree0 Disagree0

To the last poster.so your argument for me "not been a fan" is me getting the days mixed up.oh I do apologise, clearly this means I'm not allowed to support lufc becausemy day got mixes up, would you like me to leave you on your high horse?
As for slating my own players, am I not allowed to voice an opinion on a player who clearly is worse than players we released, ie Somma!

Agree0 Disagree0

Donny are a championship side, not league 1

Agree0 Disagree0

OP saying he can't cope against Bolton etc. the team that haven't got a point yet and sit bottom of the league? good example mate, maybe we should get players of there quality and we can go climb down the league!

Agree0 Disagree0
