Still too angry to post about Bristol unless it proves to be a wake up call & we learn our lesson early in the season rather than later. On a positive note I can still see good signs in that we have a good squad (got to say except Wooten sorry), and goals in Wood & Lucy. Couple of wins & confidence will soar & we WILL march on together. All in all glass is still half full

Silvestri - As a shot stopper he is untouchable in the championship but he needs to go back to school on catching and bossing his area.
Find a retired goalie known for his dominance in this area and put him one to one with Silvestri. If he takes his lessons on board then Lord only knows how many points he will save us over a season.
PS it wouldn't hurt to tighten up the back four either!

Deep into injury time and facing a corner, you would have thought, that Bamba and Wood to challenge for the initial cross! Instead both were near post, and watched the ball pass them! The ball was won by their big guy and the rest is history!

Is this time to go properly after Barton?! Surely we need someone to take charge and break legs!weve always had ruthless mumber4 to steady the ship.we haven't got one and desperate need one!

There's always the Scott Wooton lmao

For me Ben in Telford I would say no, he costs too much and there has to be cheaper players out there who have right experience/playing style and can do what he does.

My 2-1 prediction was wrong last night but I have had a "vision" of us winning on Saturday (before last night I was not convinced we would beat Wendies) so feeling hopeful.

On another note for anyone who read my post yesterday about the eastern european none fan wearing a leeds replica top at my local gym and he said he didn't know who we were when I spoke to him (it is just a T- shirt, I know not what it means my friend etc), well he was there again today and wearing the same Leeds top (unless he has 2 of them?), what is that about you can't wear the same top for 2 days when working out, I'm glad he ain't a fan ha ha

Micro and wood to start up front for me at home, get Berardi in(wooton out) and I would put in Cooper instead of bellusci. do that and we will win on Saturday

I don't think we should count on wooton this season.hell be gone before the window closes.heard Real Madrid, Munich and City are in for him.cant reveal my sources but his name was surv#*or!

Dg fair point about the price of him, but we need someone. He sounds like he could be ready to lower his wages though, as had no interest!

Surprised Murphy was not brought on last 15 mins or so. A cool head was needed, someone to keep the ball and slow things down.
And as for Silvester the cat. Made decent saves (ones you would expect a championship keeper to make) but again totally unconvincing with crosses and generally commanding his area.
I am not saying he should be dropped for the weekend but Wednesday are a big side and will get at him no doubt. Would be harsh to drop him, but maybe the right thing?

Time to drop. Not first time he has screwed up in this way. They don't emphasize commanding area in Italy when teaching goalkeeper.

Turnbull ought to start against Wendies.

Thought I'd let the dust settle before posting but we need at leas 2-3 signings. Why do we get the same headline year after year saying we won't be rushed into making signings. When its obvious we need to strengthen. Nothing but a win on Saturday will do.

Good post. We could do with another central defender someone experienced, cover for defensive midfield and if 442 is our new way we are going to need to sign another striker.

Gobsmacked, we did the job for 80 minutes then stopped playing. Should have been keeping ball in their half but we sat back and let them come on to us, Agard should havE had somEonE stuck to his back. Defence and midfield were naive believing they had done enough to win. Bamba needs to command his defence and Sylvestri needs time on bench so he can watch how to control his area and maybe learn something from Turnbull. Positives were attack played well, Wood off the mark 2 in 2 for Ant. Not sure it was the best defensive choice, three young lads Berardi before Wootton all day long. In fact Coyle is better than Wootton. No excuse for that collapse, but still unbeaten and young lads will learn from that, but need to start winning games. All teams are finding points hard to come by so if we can get a couple of wins it will shoot us up table. If not think we will be playing catch up till christmas

Yep keeper needs changing bring Berardi back i'd also drop Bellusci like you say a lot draws so far by most teams and we look more of a threat with two up front i'm sure we'll come good and be hard to beat.

After listening to the game and looking at the stats I think we are lucky to be still unbeaten. It was very disappointing not to win being 2-0 up with one minute to go, but if we had have done it would have only papered over the cracks. As others have said it doesn't really matter what formation we play if the players arn't good enough.
We the fans may be premier league but I'm afraid the players we have at the moment are mid to lower level championship.
Roll on Saturday :-(

For some reason in every game we seem to have been murdered in terms of shots and possession. I know there's periods in every game when you're under pressure but I just think our ball retention is poor . The top teams even away from home will always have roughly same possession and shots as the home team . We need Bianchi back , even if he doesn't pass it forward much at least he generally passes to a team mate . Even if you have to go sideways or backwards at least you still have the ball and can start again. No point passing it forward if a pass isn't really on , just to give it to the opposition to come again . Keep the ball and make the opposition work to get it back , instead of us running about like headless chickens. Be nice to see us dominate a game for once . Having said that we are still unbeaten and there is room for improvement.

Disappointed with that should have one that
We do it all the time. Try and defend a lead. It's crazy. Taking ball to corner flag and all that rubbish. That should be a free kick I reckon. Same as obstructing a player from getting to a ball from 10 yards before touch line. Drives me mad
I have confidence in uwe but starting with Saturday. The wins must start coming.
Can't be forever gelling We need to be gelled!
Silv out!
Well done wood too! Hope that's the first of many!

Aussie. Taking ball to a corner flag etc to defend a lead is not pretty I agree. But it's very effective. I remember back in the old old days we did it often. And successfully. Trouble is. It takes a lot of skill and a bit of intelligence. We seem to be lacking in those departments at the moment.
By the way, am I the only one old enough to remember Gary Sprake? ( he was a goalie for you kids) . Great most of the time, but . For some reason I'm being remembered of him

Away from home Ausman I can understand the tactics we played. However, for me it will be this Saturday that knocks me off the fence. Last season under all three managers we had we played the same at home as we did away. We tried to defend more than attack. Hopefully Wood will push on now after opening his account and Atenucci is looking good, so if Rossler has the bottle to play more attacking football I'll be more than happy.

Spot on with Sprake Speedy, good shotstopper but went to sleep a lot. Good goalie but never made you feel confident about his ability. Mistakes cost points and when in goal mistakes stand out

If you read the biography on Gary Sprake you will know from the facts and stats that sprake saved more games that lost them for Leeds. All the players had confidence in him, especially Revie, who made him his number one for a decade.
Only remembered for his few mistakes, shame really as he is one our greats.
Think you've got that one wrong.

20 Aug 2015 12:22:16
Chris. Loved Gary Sprake and he was a great keeper for us. Famous for a few absolute howlers. But of course whenever a goalie makes a b*lls up it invariably leads to a goal and often defeat. You are probably correct that the comparison is not that accurate in the sense that the problem with Silvestri is his fondness to punch instead of catch and his lack of command of his area. I agree with the poster who said these areas of his game should be improving by now. I repeat that I like him but I want and expect a keeper to command his area and instil confidence in the defence. For me at the moment he does the opposite unfortunately

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant the comparison to Sprake was wrong.

Dont need to read his biography, stats etc was there mate and at times some of us wondered if he had had s bet on the other team scoring. Saying that those mistakes were few and far between and yes he was a top goalie but kept you on the edge of your seat ay yimes

{Ed001's Note - Sprake is famous amongst older Liverpool fans, like my mam, for throwing the ball into the back of the net against us. He even got himself a nice song for doing so.}

You are correct Chris.

My point is about Gary Sprake, whether you were there or not, he was picked by Don Revie as his No 1 for over a decade, so he can't have been that rubbish, unless there is something anyone can remember that the great Don, god rest his sole, missed?!
