Personally I would give Douk and Roofe a chance to bag some goals before I would bring Mcbadgekisser back. I think both have a great work rate. Douk was really improving last season even though he was playing out of position, he really did look much better. Give him a chance, front and centre and let's see if he can net. He is physically strong and has a great boot.

Roofe is quick and also needs a bit of game time up the middle in order to get firing on all cylinders. Both players will give the opposition plenty to worry about, giving our wider men a chance to slot a few. On the other hand, if we can attract a quality player with strength height and a bucket load of goals in their pocket then even better 👍MOT.

I'd give them both a run against Newport. why not? they should be capable of scoring against them. I like roofe, think he'll turn out well, especially if we are now playing a pacey skilful game now

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 21:14:49
Douk is a good player to have on the bench and bring on last 25 minutes. He has shown signs of improvement. Roofe too lightweight to play up front. He's doing ok on the wing. I'm surprised no-one is mentioning Dallas for up front. That header was rather good. He could be our false number nine.

Wood would've been proud to score that header. None of this should prevent us from obtaining Lassoga, McBurnie and even Rhodes if the price is right. We are building some team now. We have a strong 18 for match days. Make the right moves in the remaining days of the transfer window and we can win this league.

Have to say George I actually am starting to agree with you, I think we could this year!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 23:40:14
For me Roofe and Doukara aren't natural strikers, always look a little lost when they play up top. Said last cup game that I would have liked to have seen one of the new youngsters given a run out and I still think it would be a good idea to blood a couple of them if we think they have a long term future at the club. Temenuzhkov maybe still a little young but Siddiki and Balboa are both 19, would expect them to be pushing to get on the bench. With Wood on his way, Ekuban injured, Ant out on loan and a cup match against a lower Lg side I can't think of a better time to find out if they can step up, the rest of the squad should be good enough to see us through regardless.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2017 09:10:41
The new port game gives us a chance to try a few other players from the U 23s. Given the injuries in Saturday we need to be careful and think ahead to the next leaguer game, so we might see some faces who haven't been featuring in the league squads. In terms of new players in, most of the names from the Uk leagues seem overpriced to me, could be that we already have eyes to on other overseas options.

Just had a gander in the out of contract section on Transfermarkt to see if we can sort out our striker problem quickly and for the hefty price tag of £0. Cheick Diabate (29) Mali international 94 goals in 216 games, Raul Rusescu (29) Romanian international 107 goals in 325 games and oft linked Felipe Avenatti (24) , slightly less impressive 45 in 175, all up for grabs. Now wages might be an issue, not sure what sort of pay packets these guys are used to, but if we could get one on an acceptable contract might be worth a look before we shell out £10m+ for a Wood replacement.

Well just back from the game and that was the best weekend i have had for a while. Love to see geordies crying in their beer. Must say the place was not as intimidating as it was years ago when i went there as a lad. Thought the whole team played well apart from Pablo who was a bit disappointing. If Klitch is as good as the other players we brought in he will be lucky to get on pitch playing like that. Best thing was they all seemed up for it and proud to wear the shirt. Onwards and upwards.

Redfearn says we were outstanding yesterday, Grayson said some of our play was superb, Noel Whelan says we are playing some beautiful football and he reckons we will be more of a flowing attacking team without Wood! All great feedback and the latest rumour links us with Nahki Wells? any thoughts? MOT

Jansson a man you should want to follow into the gates of hell itself. Could easily have backed out of his transfer and earned more but chose the right path. It's going to be a roller coaster ride but there's actually people in place now that want this club back where it belongs

In celebratory mood last night so I asked (compelled) Mrs Integrity to give me a Cameron. Evidently she was aware of the transfer speculation involving our centre forward but not the result against them Black Cats because after she completed the task in hand (lol) she managed (lol) to quip that what just happened is synonymous with LUFC. I asked what does she mean. She replied with the loss of Wood it's down the Whites! I put her straight though. I informed her of our excellent result at the Stadium of Light and said we may play the rest of the season with a false number nine. I then had to explain what that was. I'm very tired today guys and don't mind telling you our bedroom looks like an insult to Pontus - no clean sheets!

Looking forward to another trip to Elland road to see the Newport game, my last before a month out of the country. It's an opportunity to try some other players, perhaps one or two of those bought for the u23s. Delighted to see Alioski getting praise alongside Saiz. I really rate him, great attitude and you can see the worry that they both cause defenders. A good start to the year.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 13:08:07
Phillips had his best game also, he seems to play better away from home, wish the fans would get behind him ar ER, one mis placed pass and everyone's on his back, he's one of our own, we should all get behind him, defence looked really good, to limit them to one shot on target was a great team effort.

Agree5 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 10:48:05
Couple of articles on news now say we linked with rhodes. Can do better imo but don't think we should be looking for similar to CW either. End up tring to be too direct with a big target man.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2017 12:19:22
I thought ekuban worked hard yesterday and he's a different style of striker, I like that about him. If we signed someone similar with the same pace and strength but with more of an eye for goal, perhaps vibe or kodjia, they could do wonders for us. Afobe and Wilson should also be mentioned in this bracket.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Duke just doesn't cut the mustard for me imo we need better

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 15:40:31
The duke reminds me of that big lad who plays for Wimbledon and used to play for Wycombe, is it akifenwa? Big, strong, powerful, tries hard but ultimately has little footballing ability at this level.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 10:13:52

Really pleased with the win. Wasnt expecting it tbh. Really pleased with cooper getting recontion he has deserved! Really pleased with tc and rad. They seem to learn quickly. Really pleased wood has is gone. Nice little earner. And. I did say he didn't suit our system anymore.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2017 09:38:40
Wasn't expecting a win either Aus. I thought the players might be a bit deflated after Wood pulled out but it only appeared to galvanise them. Coops and Pontus looked excellent in defence. To limit one of the favourites for promotion to one shot on target at their home ground is no mean feat. Coops looks like a player reborn. I'm glad that Wood has gone too. If he wants to go move on. We have plenty of goals in the team but still think we should reinvest the money in a top striker. Burnley will soon realise that Wood isn't the player they think he is and whilst I wish him well, I don't think he'll cut it in the prem. Last word for our regular stalker. It doesn't matter how many times you change your log-in, you c*ck womble, your illiteracy will shine through like a beacon and reveal your true identity. Lol! MM

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 09:45:44
Like a lot of other posters on here, I think we were pretty one dimensional with Wood as the main striker. Think we will play better and have more options. It is almost like he had to be given the ball and now the players have a freedom to do more. Great win, here's to more of them. MOT

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 10:52:45
Can't agree more with the posts above. Believe the club is now being run in the right way and the wood transfer money will be invested back into strengthening the current team. can't really fault the type of players we are getting in, they are showing they can play well at this level.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Aug 2017 09:00:29
I know that we all want to rush down the sweetshop and spend all our 15 million, possibly before we've got it, and buy a nice juicy striker. I think it's more important that we get it right. I agree that one or two more good buys and we will be in a great position, but the prem and championship has a lot of 8 million plus players that haven't done well in their new clubs. So a bit of patience, we obviously have a plan and I'm sure part of that involved life without Wood and we are not in a bad position without him and each game without him will tell us more about the other players. Let's make sure we spend the money wisely on a good fit.
