With all this nonsense going on with
Limbombe, would we really want him and bring this attitude to our club? Move on to another target I think!

do see what you are saying but sadly part of football mate, players have played up to leave leeds nice to see one playing up to join, least it shows on the up. Personally I don't mind as long as he puts in good performances, although I do hate it in football I think I have learnt to ignore it.

Think it is more likely he will go to Brugge.

Yep notts. Yep bw. But shouldn't clubs be wise to players disloyalty by now and include. As is normal. Big buy out clauses. Breach of contract fees payable by player and new club. Sell on fees. Non performing non pay. It's ok paying the dosh to them but clubs need to protect their investment more. Specially the lower league teams inc championship. It's not hard. I know clubs battle for the good players and offer silly contracts but it can't be hard to protect themselves really. I say to a striker. U don't score in 4 games we don't pay u until u do. what striker ( woods apart ) dosent think he will score every 4 games. I know that's silly but. U get my drift. I hope.

i agree with aus but not sure it can work that way. companies have the power with the little people but big players in any field come with baggage and know they are the commondity, sure it works the same with company directors, footballers, buiness managers. I know it works the same with actors often big stars can call the shots to a degree. part of life sadly in all walks of work.

Always said we don't need this guy and his current attitude towards the club paying his wages is disgusting. Maybe now the press will leave us alone regarding him, but I doubt it.

Ive been on hols last 3 weeks and kept an eye on transfers.
But is it me because i'm totally underwhelmed by the lot? Green looks ok but after the flapper i'd take Bermo.
Grimes looked decent last season at Blackburn but the rest look like hope more than anything else. But
What do I know as the missus always tell me?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2016 09:03:13
right as well Bermo is the best over weight one armed goalkeeper you will ever see, he is like a short Neville Southall on LSD.

Corky was at preseason game and all our signings looked good antonson was outstanding and Ronaldo Viera another one to watch roofe good but antonson was a real eye-catching performance.

I read that Wex and thanks for report. But you have to take into account of who they were playing.
I hope they all do great.

I thought the LUFC recruitment process was suspect. Its positively brilliant when compared with the FA's. Big Sam for England manager? Makes Cellino's appointment of Dave Hockaday look inspired!

Believable3 Unbelievable4

20 Jul 2016 20:33:41
have to stronly disagree. big sam should of got the job 10 years ago over steve mcclown. Big sam always gets best out of players. team can play football when needed and grind out results and cause upsets when needed. As well as getting the best out of players like kevin nolan many forget what he did with dojakf and j j ococka.

Sam may not play the best football but come on who cares. Sam gets results i'd rather win playing poorly (look at portugal) than lose. still playing poorly.

Name one guy better than big sam and also be honest look at our result in big comps in last ten years does anyone think we would of done badly under big sam? course not, sam also is forward thinking and progressive coach and into sports science

well done egnaldn.

20 Jul 2016 21:27:06
Bermondsey have you lost your mind big Sam is a myth an average manager who has had an average career won promotion with a couple of clubs 20 years ago and has not done anything since average average average. Sorry Bermondsey.

Agree2 Disagree2

20 Jul 2016 21:49:12
Sorry Hess but Bermo is right.
Sam is the man to motivate these young lads and also to let them know they ain't won shit internationally and therefore stop thinking they are the dogs.

20 Jul 2016 21:53:27
Ok Wex who then?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 21:57:18
Sorry Hess and Wex, I agree completely with BW. Big Sam is a better choice than anyone else linked with the job.
He will install pride and belief (as he has done at all his previous clubs) and get the team gelling and win games.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Jul 2016 22:07:26
Have to agree with BW wex sorry, Sam has always got the best of what he has, listen to what the players say about him, if he can get England players talking the same way, England would be a different outfit, they have the ability but no leadership, Sam will shock the world and I'd have him with us in a second.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Jul 2016 22:25:00
The England job ain't easy and we don't have much choice so big Sam seems a solid choice at least I can see the logic to it. The guy will have a plan a and b, be well prepared and will get the players playing too their strengths and in right positions.

I don't want to play like Spain or Brazil cause we can't do that, play in ways that the players believe in and understand and most of all just win a few games at WC/ Euros.
At the moment we are like a lower struggling prem team who can't beat good sides, so on that score you can see why they choose Sam but we won't know until the next WC touraments, good luck Sam.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 23:44:28
At best Allardyce gets results with average / below average players. He might save a club from relegation but he hasn’t the know how to win competitions where the best players are involved. He is in the Steve Bruce/ Neil Warnock mould. Not the quality for a national team. Look at what happened at West Ham.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 00:25:39
hess sam did well at west ham he got them up then established then good solid team. I predict big sam will be our best manager in years and one of our best ever. no one likes playing agsinst big sam teams and there is a reason for that. also look what he does to players who has a bit of qulaity like noble, jay jay ocoaka yordi dokef. he got good results. he is step up form mcclown and dodgson I predict passion, pride, game plan and results. happy days you can all say I am right in two years time.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed003's Note - he was fortunate to get west ham promoted and his (not entirely and bolton's reckless spending) should not be missed from his record there.}

21 Jul 2016 06:04:17
I'm with Sam out before he gets in
This bloke is a waste of space. Just got lucky here and there. No talent watsoever.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 09:06:28
Only time will tell but I really think he will do well. I think give big sam the talent we have and in the torlement just gone and we could of won it, look at protugal? At very least we would of done a lot better, big sam gets results with weaker teams imagine what he can do with some of our talent. Ok football might be bit worse to watch (i don't think it will be but it is an arguement) but results wil be better. Ask any portugese man did you mind the football you played, I'm sure answer will be no, because I enjoyed winning the euro's.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jul 2016 11:05:36
In short big sam is a dinosaur. Should have got hoddle back, the football under him was the best I've seen in my lifetime from an england team .

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 11:09:49
I don't want Alladyce as the next England manager just another old school manager who believes in negative, boring football. Time the FA realised that we are miles behind the best teams in the world with regard to ball retention skills,
passing ability and tactical nous. Time for a younger manager with modern ideas and plenty of passion and hunger, a Slaven Bilic type. I don't mind if it's an English or foreign manager,
as long as the team improves its perfrmaces.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It's like the Mike Bassett film has became a reality.}

21 Jul 2016 11:40:18
Sorry but Big Sam is a joke for England. How can so many highly paid "experts" consistently get it wrong. Are the FA full of Germans, or worse still Scots. Do they mean us harm?
Of all the experienced high powered managers out there they pick a man whose lack of European success is glaring. Whose lack of UK success is abysmal. if he is so good why is he at relegation avoiding Sunderland and not a top team. On what grounds can they have made their choice. Does he have exceptional talent in handling big ego players. No more so than any other applicant and certainly not at the level that he has managed. Does he have a winning CV. Only at the mighty Blackpool where he acheived the heady heights of a 43% win ratio. Has he had a succesfull run at a "big" team. Well he only lasted 24 games at Newcastle. How is he currently doing? Well last year by the skin of their teeth Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation. Now if I could not find a manager with a better CV that was also a strong motivator I would resign from my chair at the FA.

With the possibility of Bamba leaving, I'd like to see Alex Mowatt as captain and used as a no.10.
I think he now needs to step up and show us that the potential we all thought he had a couple of years ago is now ready to come to fruition.
I think making him captain would be a massive confidence boost, which is what I think he needs after last season.
I know he's from Doncaster but he's been at LUFC since he was 6, so to me he's been Leeds all his life.
I think he would wear the armband with pride.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Jul 2016 18:42:23
Well he def needs something to spur him on, because last season he was mainly mediocre.

21 Jul 2016 05:28:09
Am on the fence about mowatt. No doubt has talent but only gives about ten good games a season. Scores some belting goals that stick with you and you forget how crap he played the three previous games. Not a captain in my eyes. Needs to be consistant, said earlier think this will be make or break season for alex.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 06:06:27
I'm not a fan. Ok here and there but not captain material. Don't like the idea of rewarding someone with captaincy that hasn't earned it or shown leadership.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 07:53:48
So which player has earned it and shown leadership then Aus?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2016 09:09:32
i think mowatt was killed last season by injuries, lack of fitness and being used in correctly. I have always likened him to fat frank and fat frank would not of been good if used how mowatt was last year. I think monk will make most of mowatt and transform his this year. mowatt 15 assists and 12 goals at least this season if fit. As for captain I am not sure. Odd one but if staying i'd go for Taylor real leader, consistant and quality if not maybe rob green or baridid.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 13:23:41
Massimo has reported that there will be no signings this week. We started really well but the job is only half complete and I think we are still lacking in a few areas. I would personally like to see us conclude our business as early as possible so that we can get on with pre-season and so the lads have more time to gel - 5 weeks to go until the window closes.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jul 2016 15:36:01
Agreed Alf, I am also concerned that the names being mentioned are right backs (although may just be paper talk) , it is not a priority to strengthen in that position.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 19:40:22
I met Alex a few years ago. A nice young lad but very shy. Definitely not captain material. He was with Cook who will be a great captain one day I think, but unfortunately not for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 21:51:45
Funny that Mowatt was captain of the under age teams though?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 12:59:32
Wex. I think if we are hoping for players better than Ian Harte we would be in cloud cuckoo land. I'd probably have Ian Harte back now, let alone 15 years ago.

Agree. Great player.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 14:31:53
Ah speedy he was a good player he got better with age. But he was a bit slow if he was a tad faster he would have been one of the best ever.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 14:58:44
Yes a fine player but as you guys say no pace at all, made up for that with his dead ball skills so guess swings n roundabouts as they say.

For me a really great full back needs to be quick as well as being able to tackle, fairly aggressive, read the game (i. e. defend) and be able to get forward and cross a ball pretty well.

I sometimes wonder why people of his size and say Mowett, can't seem to run very quick, you would think they would, I still reckon that coaching can make you look quicker (well over 10-20m) as you can learn to be always on move, think fast so react fast and be fitter so your mind don't get tired. You may never be a whippet but if I was Mowett I would work on that and he would become quicker you would think.

Maybe a number 10 role could work for him because he can score/ pass OK?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 15:44:32
Mowatt has suffered from injuries in previous pre-seasons which has affected his fitness going into a season. I thought last year that he had spent too much time in the gym bulking up and this made him even slower. Not a natural athlete but has the talent to be an effective player if there are plenty of players around him who can run.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2016 17:39:38
Notts saw Mowatt at shamrock rovers game and he looked fit slimmed down a bit was impressed by how fit he looked.
