Hope the Radebe consortium stake bid gets accepted because this guy is an absolute legend and will definitely have the clubs best interests at heart.
Give the guy the keys to the city or at least ER.
In GFH, McD & LR I trust.

So here's an interesting one. I was on holiday abroad in the summer and it was seriously hot. I wore my Leeds United top to keep the sun off. My 8 year old daughter asked me to take her on a rather insane water-slide, which I did. At the top of the slide I met another Leeds fan who asked me where I was from. I explained that whilst my family are all from Leeds, I was born down south (Wiltshire), and that's where we all live now. The guy tutted at me, called me a name I really didn't want my 8 year old daughter to hear, one that rhymes with banker, and off he shot down the slide.

So my question is this, my fellow Leeds fans, is it generally considered that I'm not a proper Leeds fan because of where I was born and live? Do the northern contingent hate us "Southern Softies" because we can't make it to every home match (I'm 250 miles away), or indeed was this an isolated incident?
Be honest, I can't be any more offended than I was when he called me a banker!

A lot of LEEDS fans come from near and far. after being one for over 45 years all I know is we are all marching on. TOGETHER.

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one don't care where people live, if you support Leeds then you are good enough for me. PS that chap you encountered sounds like a right cock

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately mate you got a so called fan himself because any other Leeds fan would have talked to you for ages like you were his long lost brother given you the Leeds salute and then off down the bloody slide. A leeds fan is a Leeds fan no matter where they were born or come from

Hi
i am leeds fan from 20 miles from man xxxx and hre are loads of every were i go

More Leeds Utd fans live outside Leeds and even Yorkshire than in it! The same goes for every Club with a large fan base. It is the number of fans who live outside the immediate encashment area of a Club that make it a big Club. Those who live close enough to go to most games are lucky but they need to remember to be a successful "Big Club" the fan base has to be more than just those who attend matches. LUFC can still call itself a "Big Club" because of that fan base. I would like to think that the fan you met is in the minority and the majority will MOT wherever they come from!

Agree0 Disagree0

Does he goes to all the away games in the south? No? Not really a loyal supporter then! Oh and that was sarcasm btw.

I live in the south and listen to every single game no questions asked but there's no way I can afford to go to every game. Doesn't make me any less of a fan does it?

Agree0 Disagree0

The only banker was him. What a moron! I was born at Oswestry in Shropshire and now live in Bexley, Kent. I've followed Leeds since 1965 FA Cup semi v Man Utd.
I don't get to many games save the ones in London area so I guess that makes me a banker too.
Many of my mates still go regularly to Elland Road from Oswestry and surrounding areas so they're not real fans either.
And suppose our Scandinavian supporters are bankers too. No, regardless of where you live or come from, supporting Leeds is what we have in common and that's all that counts. MOT Ron

File it away under 'encounter with stupid ignorant git'. There are plenty about supporting each and every club.

Sounds like a bit of a banker himself! We are of any background, creed or colour. We are all after one common goal. The promotion of our great team

Mate, I am in the same boat! I also live down south (although grew up in leeds). I am not a season ticket holder (anymore) but a member, which I re new every season, so I can get to away games as well as home games ( as and when I can). Whether I go to 1 game or 20 I am a leeds united supporter and always will be. Get on the train at salisbury when we go to the play offs and see how many leeds shirts are heading into London from the southwest - couldn't move for the Donny game! MOT any way how many Manchester United ( I won't say -whoops!) actually come from Manchester!

The only "banker " was the person who insulted you - i'm a Leeds fan that lives in the Midlands and consider myself as much as a true fan as anyone whether they live a mile from Elland Rd or a thousand - just put it down to one brainless person and keep MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a 1 of incident mate. There's always 1 person. Take no notice of him . You probably go to elland road more than him! Mot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think u will find he was the "banker" for shooting off his mouth without his brain in gear we all got one or two at our clubs! mot!

Agree0 Disagree0

The prat who called you a monkey spanker probably never goes to games but thought he'd try and justify his own importance in front of kids!
I think we all know who the banker is mate.

Mad Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate whoever he was was a banker in my opinion as we are not all blessed to be born in the area but that doesn't make us any less crazy about our beloved club as far as i'm concerned we all live and breath leeds united, i don't get to as many games as i used to but my kids at 3 and 7 years old are drip fed on being leeds thru and thru.!!so as far as most i'd say that guy was a minority as when i've traveled to games i've always been made welcome to support my club leeds united
by natives and non natives as we are a global brand
what do you guys say
leeds for life

I was born 8 miles from Southampton, now living about 8 miles the other side of Southampton! I have supported Leeds since I was 4, which now equates to 42 years. I get to a few game s a year and some away games.(reading and prob Brighton and Yeovil)The first thing I do every night is check this site for news etc.
I don`t support other teams just Leeds and that`s how it will always be till I die. Am I less of a fan than others?

Agree0 Disagree0

Every club has a contingent of morons. glad to have you on board mate!

What an ignorant muppet the "waterside banker" must of been. Please do not be offended by that person (was going to say man then, how tired am I at the moment). Altleast whilst he was learning to talk to you his care worker was having a few minutes respite.
Leeds fans are all heroes, whether you live in LS11 or Outer Mongolia

Doesn't matter where you live. Sat at home 5 miles
from Old Trafford ; loads of Leeds fans in
Manchester who are passionate about Super
Leeds. A real Leeds fan will always want to talk
about our club not insult another Leeds fan. Sounds
like was a total muppet: probably couldn't even
name the current team!

Can assure you that every time I meet a Leeds fan, I am talking for bloody ages. Fans come from all over so surely living south can't be a problem if we have fans in Australia, Norway and other European countries.

I've never met a Leeds fan I've not liked

The chap is not just a banker. he's a right chucking punt.

I grew up south west London, area stock full of supporters for that C-word (can't bring myself to say it in polite company) supporters.

But one of my first footballing memories was watching the 1970 FA cup on telly. and bein' hooked on the team in white playing with skill, body and heart.

I also joined a competitive swim club in the same area. and the bus going to swim competitions was full of Leeds fans. LUFC was carvedthroughout in the condensation on the coach windows so everyone knew who we were. (And we got the occasional bang for that.)

Grown up, we stay in touch world-wide. (I'm now in Canada, others went to US and Australia, some still live in London). and though many miles apart and 40+ years on. we're still Leeds supporters (albeit with some bloody daft accents)
