People please stop having ago towards Ross McCormack about the contract thing, he's our best player by far, and not even th highest earning player, and he should be, if McCormack signs a new deal no other club can get him, now we've got a rich owner we can afford to pay McCormack more. You guys will never be impressed, and it's extremely annoying.

Delboy
He signed a new contract a few months ago what's changed?
How do YOU know he's not already the top earner at ER?

Right so we play 45 minutes like s*** then we come out first 15 minutes play well knock it around then mcdermott brings on smith? doesn't make sense is poleon injured? why isn't the boy starting over hunt. why is tonge starting over mowatt? also our defence (stating the obvious) is horrific. I can't believe how bad tom lees and wooton are sometimes it amazes me

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bring back the chief

22 Apr 2014 07:28:44
Tonge is startin before mowatt because he's a better player. Don't be blinkered by the fact he's homegrown because Lees and white are and they're not good enough either. After his showing last season I'm gutted young Dawson hasn't had a decent run in the team. Another thing I don't get is why after playin 5 at back and winning 2 on the bounce, we revert to 4 4 2 v forest, and then have no wingers?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 22:50:47
Sorry Ed 13.yes. Mowatt I agree. but BMcDimwit seems reluctant to select him, and not in his best position when he does. Can't do the lad's confidence any good. Hope we keep him (Mowatt that is)

Massimo I implore you to put Brian out of our misery. I don't want a manager whose recruitment plans will involve bringing in his old pals from Reading for a final payday. I don't want a manager who is players in incorrect positions i.e. Austin and Murphy. I don't want a manager who persists with incapable players just to prove a point i.e. Hunt. I don't want a manager who drops his 6ft 6 in striker then persists with the same long ball tactics. I don't want a manager who takes no responsibility for consistently poor performances.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Apr 2014 22:32:33
Why did BM change a team and formation that had just won 2 in a row. Not only that he pulled Murphy back and as good as played with 2 defenders.
These guys are still playing with no confidence and can't wait for the season to end.
We need a tactical manager who makes big decisions. Everyone in the ground knew smith would be more effective than hunt and that Murphy, after scoring a brace in last game would be more confident if allowed to push up.
Sorry Brian you are a nice guy and loyal, however some of your loyalty is misplaced in your recruits and your tactics are as slovenly as an 8 yr old playing fifa.
Please go now

on the bright side. loads of good players out of contract in the summer. if Massimo flashes the cash a bit we could easily rebuild the squad.

Brian McDimwit has been in charge for one year. Under him none of our home grown younger players have broken through. He has brought in useless has beens but in fairness even to them you cannot play musical chairs in every game. How can McDimwit talk about stability off the field when he chops & changes players, positions & tactics for every game. No progress, no idea.
Pleeeeeeeez sack him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Mowatt?}

Mowwat has but chris Dawson would of probably been one of our main players but I don't even think mc doughnut has played him once

If we are going to be a promotion contending Side next season then the only players that should be kept is ross mccormack sam byram and big mat smith the rest can all go for me wish that astori and Ibarbo would join because it wouldn't cost cellino a penny to have 2 class players but can't see it happening really especially astori as he's a full Italian international and wouldn't want to play in the championship also I really hope we don't sign stearman as it would just be another wootan we need a players that people know about and who are internationals like Ibarbo and astori not bog standard league 1 players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Love Byram but what has he done this season??

Agree0 Disagree0

I would keep mccormack, byram, mowatt, austin, murphy and pearce literally ever other player needs to get out

Austin, are you having a laugh.

After today definitely think we need a change of manager (thought originally that Brian would be good for us. Looking forward to an interesting summer of change, got getting too excited about next season though. Looking at all reports from club about structures and finance, looking at players and everything I think if Massimo can get us up by 2016 he will have done a fantastic job.

Heres hoping things get better every week and next season sets us up for the big one. If you can do it next year Massimo you will be forever a Leeds legend.

Thought 2nd half was ok but rudi austin right wing? Scott wooton is a joke is it true we paid nearly a mil for him? And sime people say brian should be given a chance. why? So he can buy readings bench and reminuce about promotions gone by. joke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Most of the team is a joke. BmcD is a joke he looked like a lost boy looking for his mum

Agree0 Disagree0

I missed the first half and only tuned in for the second couldn't believe my eyes when I seen Austin playing on the wing wtf he didn't have a clue (and I don't blame him ) I would have literally played anyone out on the wing then Austin haha.
I actually thought we played alright from what I seen but seriously how much possession and passing about before someone fancies talking a shot!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 20:54:26
Scott wooton useless again. can't defend let alone play right wingback. to me he was at fault for the second goal. never put his foot through the ball was scared of getting stuck in. the first was just tactically useless. the space for derbyshore to run in was ridiculous. and nobody even chased him back either.

So heres to mr cellino. come the summer please get a better defence in place before we even concentrate on other positions. Please wot I saw today were basic things not carried out.

Second half much better wiv no final finish. a lot of work needed in the summer but defo srart wiv backline.

Mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wooton is garbage you can clearly see doesn't even have the legs of a footballer

Agree0 Disagree0

If MC has what it takes to get us in PL please get rid of BMcD

Agree0 Disagree0

Im amazed at how poor that man is, its ridiculous I would have prevented that second goal have some heart put your foot through the ball and man. I was fuming. still am

Agree0 Disagree0

How can a centre half have such low bravery. he's shizza and it annoys me when players won't get blood on their shirts for the love of the fans club history and the team itself. austin say wot u want bowt him but he never backs out of a tackle. wooton should never wear our shirt again. nearly 1mill for a player that is scared of his own shadow. like I said in my post start the rebuild with a new back 4. we need people to get stuck in.

Bloody angers me as a paying fan watching dross like this every week.

Anybody any idea why eddie hitler changed the formation in the first place. diamond with austin as am and murphy dm. should that not bin the other way round?

Why not brown and austin holding midfield and murphy and tonge as more advanced playmakers. but i'm not tha manager am I?
Wish I was because they would perform with me up their lazy no good arses.

Annoyed leedsfan as ever

In relation to the players who played today and the injured ones I would only like to retain as starting players McCormack, Murphy, Byram and Mowatt. For the squad I would retain Pearce, Smith and Austin and possibly Warnock.

We have to try and offload the rest I know some are out of contract and others have a year and one or two have two but if we are really serious about getting a promotion squad we need to have a mass clear out.

It is obvious to everybody who has watched Leeds this season that we have a massive shortage of pace all over, even our best player is not the quickest although he has many more attributes that stands him out as one of the best players in the division.

Lees a major prospect two years ago and one of our own is not quick enough and cannot play with the ball at his feet.Pearce a real trier but slow and struggles again distributing the ball. Wootton although I appreciate is being played out of position is a another slow player with no ability on the ball all three have to go when he can move on.

In midfield we gave no width Kebe and Stewart not good enough, we had Austin right wing today and Tonge basically playing left we were never going to get past their full backs with these two.

Therefore in my opinion we need 8 new players for the first eleven, a goalkeeper, two centre backs, a left back two wingers, a centre midfielder as I don't believe Mowatt is a starter yet and a centre forward to play with Ross.

We then need on top of Austin, Mowatt, Pearce and Warnock a number of squad players hopefully the core of those can cone from the youth system with one or two new ones.

Be interested in everybody's thoughts on the above

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Interesting post and whilst I agree with most of your post, Brown, Tonge and Pugh will be good as squad players for another season. Austin will be better as a defensive midfielder - what he was brought in for! I still think too many players have been asked to play too many positions and have been swapped around too much! This can effect players and ultimately teams at all levels! The team has not changed that much from the one winning at the start of the season! BMD tactics (or lack of) inability to coach or motivate has been the problem - the team has never had a chance to settle. IMO and we can all have one of those!

Agree0 Disagree0

"In midfield we gave no width Kebe and Stewart not good enough"

Not sure what game you were watching today but I never saw these players in the ground, let alone on the pitch?

Agree0 Disagree0

"we were never going to get past their full backs with these two"

We did get behind their full backs, just didn't get the ball in the back of the net.

For once Leeds just kept going and going, so despite the loss give credit where it is due?

Austin is the only person (in my opinion) that looked suspect, he can't give 90 minutes.

And we really do need to look at Butland? He is still shipping easy goals, despite the crap defence?

That first goal was diabolical.

Agree0 Disagree0

"hopefully the core of those can cone from the youth system with one or two new ones."

Like BMD has already said, he won't play youngsters for the sake of it.

Maybe it's one of the reasons Byram has been plagued with injuries, he is a great player but his physical ability isn't there yet?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the retain list in the original post. But first we need BMD gone.
He obviously cannot motivate players, has little tactical nous and could spot a decent player if one was stood in front of him. Wootton, Stewart, Kebe and Hunt I rest my case. Also with nothing to play for let's get the kids in. How is Mowatt going to get experience and progress by sitting on the bench watching 37 year old Michael Brown.
BMD is clueless, MC needs to think years ahead and get a football man in one who can use the talent of our youth system and for me that would be Glen Hoddle

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin is average to say the least, wooten is playing where he is told to play, he's not a byram type player. Our manager is clueless at best and I have no idea what system he is playing.
We need a forward thinking manager who recognizes we have to replace old

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 22:46:50
OP here I never said Kebe and Stewart played today I was just stating we had no width today and these two are not the answer to providing it.

Big debate going on still about How many fans we could attract if we were successful in the Prem.
I think we would fill the ground but some people think we will struggle to average 34000
Any thoughts please without swearing .
Jeff

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Leeds would fill the capacity in the Premier league}

21 Apr 2014 20:49:58
If we were successful I reckon we could have 50000 as long as we had the stadium capacity

Agree0 Disagree0

If today is anything to go by it will be a long time before Leeds get to the Prem. Most of the players on show are not good enough. I though Smith tried hard when he came on but the back four is poor. There has to be a massive clear out as the players are not good enough. Murphy and Mowatt are too slow, Tonge is past it, Warnock is past his best. I though Austin played OK second half. 2 nil down within 16 minutes at home is just not good enough. As much as I like McDermott I think he is out of his depth. Beets

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were successful in prem we could fill the ground easily, if season ticket prices were reduced would be in very high demand

Agree0 Disagree0

May surprise a lot of you to know Leeds United have one of the largest ever attendance records?

Okay, it was at Hampden Park against Celtic, but I believe there was around 136,000 spectators?

Make of it what you will.

Agree0 Disagree0

It cost me almost £100 for a home game, with fuel a bite to eat, couple of pints (driving) and ticket. I'm sure there are people that it cost's a lot more. When the wife is with me it means, shopping, hotel, and evening meal. Leeds gets very Expensive. My point, is a good proportion of Leeds fans travel from all over the country.
To many seem to think it's just a ticket and a bus ride.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bring a sandwich with you and don't buy pints that should bring the expenses down abit.

Did someone say something about an electronic scoreboard?
Who is barmy on here?
Let's get into the Premiership and then worry about wasting money.
We need fabiulous hungry players who will run and fight all day long not stupid boards around the pitch.

Another tactically astute team formation by BMD.
Murphy back in defensive role
Austin up front
Wooton on right wing
Perhaps when Kenny is fit we could put him in an outfield position.
What an embarrassment this guy is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Must admit I was disappointed to see Austin back in the team? We have won two games without him (ok maybe weak opponents) but why change a winning team (again)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 19:37:22
I admit I wanted McDermott, thought he would at least get us to the play off's, but I now admit that after the performances lately he has no clue whatsoever, we need new coach & at least 6 new players in various positions, Cellino the balls in your court, Leeds fans are the best but we're not stupid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am the exact same. I thought he would make shrewd signings at leeds like he did at reading, improve our playing style like he did at the end of last season and then fight for promotion this season then gain it well next season. The complete opposite has happened. His signings have either proved to be useless or if they do have quality have not been utilised well enough. Murphy, Stewart, wickham have all been poorly used where as butland has had all his confidence destroyed thanks to the woeful defence and the only saving grace along with murphy if he is played correctly is smith.
There is no tactics, no game plan and the playing style is beyond terrible. He has made leeds an embarrassment

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 20:58:05
Not making any excuses for our inept performance, but why do we seem to get inept referees aswell. Think we could have 45 min injury time and still not scored!

Agree0 Disagree0

Now the financial side of things looks to be settled you have to ask the question of BMD. Today the guys on the pitch kept going all the way till the final whistle, but it's obvious we are lacking in some areas.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 19:35:47
Take out the first 20 minutes and those two shocking goals and Leeds actually played ok. Forest failed to have a shot in the second half. Referee made some strange decisions though. Stopping the game when two forest players touched knees and then playing on when Smith landed on his head! Can't wait for the season to end and we can get a good season going next year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just shows how biased a referee can be. There was totally NO REASON to stop the game when the two Florist players actually tackled each other.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you buddy but in all honesty I couldn't see us scoring at any point with t
he way the team was set out maybe we were trying to go for a 0-0?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 19:14:28
WTF 25 shots on goal and we get beaten 0-2 lots of effort but no cigar! Interested on thoughts with regard our best and worst players on the pitch - Hunt starting - has he got photos of BMD doing something he shouldn't?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Must admit it's the first time I realised Hunt was a Leeds player, let alone on the pitch.

Hopefully we can at least leave him out of the rest of the games if not permanently. He really is rubbish, and shouldn't be on the pitch if that's all he can contribute?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 19:12:38
not a clue? we could not score even if we played till next week, substitutions no impact BMC needs to go and we need a fresh start most of the squad out new manager we are poor and stale not good

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Apr 2014 18:18:51
First half - tactically clueless - can't see the wood for the tress (a pun of forest!) The defence are being exposed, feeling sorry for Wooton, out of position and looks lost and constantly caught out of position, plus long balls to the two shortest strikers in the league. If this is the best of McD's tactics I would expect him to be gone; lets's see if there is any redemption in the 2nd half.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Apr 2014 17:57:15
mcdermott surely has to go now, absolute disgrace, team selection, tactics absolutely baffles me. forest have 2 of the biggest center backs in this league, and he leaves our biggest striker on the bench! playing austin in attacking midfield, since when has austin been good going forward? lees, wooton, pearce no pace, the reason for the first 2 goals, cellino please do not trust this muppet with your cash.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Selection not good you say who would you pick apart from ross all the rest of the team are pants lees wotton wotton in first half played out of postion brown hunt need I go on think most of our squad would struggle playing in league 1

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are going to concede at the back we need people like Poleon to get around defenders and score, there's no point relying on tall players like Murphy and Smith when the opposition are just as tall?

Agree0 Disagree0

McCormack will stay at Leeds if Massimo gives him a new contract

Believable0 Unbelievable0

But why is he asking for a new contract when he signed one 8 months ago, agents talking I think here. let him play out 3 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's got a contract he signed in August why would he want a new one I wonder????

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 15:15:17
Is it just me who begining to fail to see the point in long term contracts anymore?if you sign q contract then it isunforgivable to hold your employer to randsome. By all means ask for a pay rise, but accept it that your there fir the duration until that contract expires or the club say you can go.otherwise, it isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A contract is a piece of paper (if you are lucky) and can be cancelled at any time, just depends how much you are liable for when it happens.

What we need to do is to write a waiver into the contract giving Leeds the authority to cancel said contract if you do not fulfil your side of it?

Not rocket science?

You play well, we pay well, you play rubbish we cancel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I agree with what you are saying, I think you didn't quite get my point. I mean what is the point in a player signing a 4 year contract, only for him to say pay me more or I leave. Yes he can ask for a pay rise, but if you don't get it, throwing you toys out o the pram is crazy. look you get paid more In a week than the average annual wage, you signed the bloody contract so play and shut up. You are our player for 3 years deal with it!if players can just pick and choose whether to honour contract why waste everyone's time, just sign a mercenary pay as you play contract.

It's been a while since I have posted on here but would just like to say after watching summer target wolves defender Stearman he looks like a solid defender with speed and no nonsense defending just what we need. Him and Pearce and the back would be great with lees as back up.

Hopefully players to leave will be Pugh, green, Norris, brown, ashdown, kenny, peltier, zaliukas, Tonge, hunt, diouf, Kebe, stewart, Morrison, wooton

Players to keep and who could do a job I think lees, Pearce, warnock, McCormack, smith, poleon, murphy, Austin, mowatt, Dawson, byram, white.

What does everyone think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Austin? Not a chance!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to think we could get better players than Hunt but I think he's a better team player than he gets credit for on here. Also, isn't he on a longish contract? If so I suspect he's going nowhere.

Stewart's contracted until 2017 so nothing happening there. Also, he's young and might improve.

Tonge is useful, as is Pugh but I think they're out of contract along with Brown so I can't seem them being retained. I'd like to think we could do better but they're all useful squad players at this level.

White is a headless chicken. We desperately need pace but it's so much better when it comes with a brain attached. Ditto Poleon although maybe he's young enough to improve.

Lees looked so promising and deserved his U21 call up but he's been very poor this season. He's cost us a lot of goals and as for his constant hoofed long balls. Not sure.

Austin? Are you serious? He is the worst passer of the ball in the team (and that's a hard thing to achieve in a team this bad). Wins it spectacularly then just gives it back 80% of the time. Waste of a shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

"I'd like to think we could get better players than Hunt but I think he's a better team player than he gets credit for on here"

He gets the credit he deserves, NONE?

Exactly what has he done for the thousands of pounds Leeds have paid him?

No goals, No assists?

How can you justify this statement?

The sooner he's gone the better, even if we have to pay off his contract?

Bought in by BMD in return for an invite to his wedding, and been living off it ever since.

Done NOTHING!

Think comments on RmC are a little unfair. In short, he's willing to commit his future to Leeds United and wants to lead the club to the Premiership. I think it's only fair that he looks for the same terms as those who've been brought into the club over the last year. He also will wish to secure favourable terms for the Premiership should we get there. For him to reject Premiership wages shows good faith on his part and will want to be met half way by the club. Perhaps MC saying he'd like to see him in Italy hasn't helped.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

DrT
The players brought in have ALL said MC was off the mark when he said they were on 25k a week and Ross's demands for a new contract and more money!
Ummm he was happy when he signed his last contract at the beginning of the season?
maybe he's getting greedy with what he wants, hence it WILL force a move do it looks good on his part ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. If we had to bring in a replacement for Ross we would have to pay top dollar (with no guarantee that the player would be a success). Makes sense to give him a deserved pay rise and spend transfer kitty on other areas of the team which are currently very poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just out of interest does any Statto nerd know how many assists RmC has got alongside his 30 ( after today) goals? I don't but I'm guessing it's a good few .

Hi all, my first post. Just registered as I didn't want to miss out on this great site (which I visit everyday!) Good work Ed!

On McCormack. I don't blame him for wanting to push a new contract through for more money (I know I would). Top scorer I'm the league and wanted in premier league. He knows that without him we would surely be in relegation trouble.

In my opinion we should try to keep him, I know everyone has a price but how much would it cost to replace him? He has proved he can score goals in a poor/ average team, just imagine what he could do in a good team.

He has also proved to us all that he is strong enough to wear the wight shirt!

I think it would make more of a statement of intent to keep him.

Good luck to the boys today! MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post mate and spot on. We need to keep Ross and pay within reason a new contract. He has been different class this season and for me the best player in the league. Goals, chances made, and assists, no one comes close in whole division. MOT.

Looking forward to today's game. I'm taking my old man to his first game in a couple of years. He used to go more often when I was a nipper. Can anyone else remember going to the old dog track opposite the main car park before a Saturday game? Dogs and then the match. Happy days!

Ed your right . Ross is apperantly on 25k a week so obviously wants what liecster west ham and Cardiff are ready to offer him probably round 35k mark which mc will not pay so sorry to say it is bye bye to the little man who loves leeds . Mot wilko wilko .

I'm with you Ed, people who support football clubs think that everyone associated with that club are as dedicated to that club as they themselves are, unfortunately they all see themselves as paid employees doing what they do for reward. Ross is no different to youor II or anyone else who works for a living.

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems it does not matter what he says, if asked about his future and he replies that he will happily sign a new contract (which confirms his long term commitment to the club in the only way he can) then some people say just wants more money . strange attitude by some people to our best player!

Emotional blackmail. He likes being the star of the club and wants this to be reflected in continuous contract renewals. Basically he could go to the prem and is using this as a bargaining tool. If he really wanted to stay for the love of Leeds he would just say i'm staying, not I want to stay but you could help to persuade me with yet another improved contract. Goalscorers are like rocking horse dung but we need to be careful he doesn't become more important than the club.

when you hear the amount that murphy, hunt etc are getting then surely he's entitled to request more money? after all if it wasnt for ross we would of been relegated, should be highest earner at the club in my opinion.

I was thinking the same ed, there should be nothing wrong with his current one, is it 3 years left? Definitely wants a pay rise. You think we should keep judged on this and up his money? Or let him go to prem team? Harte of leeds

{Ed013's Note - I think no player is bigger than the club}

Who could we get for 5 million and 35 grand a week that is the alternative, personally I think we could get some quality out of contract players for that!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with sniffer, 5 mil would be great. He's not the youngest and I think he's had his best years.

I am disappointed at the attitude to our best player in the above posts, I have not seen or read the interview with RM but the original post said that if offered a new contract he (RM) would sign it, how have you managed to come to the conclusion that he is just after more money? if his reply to question was I would not sign a new contract I could understand you all complaining and I would be too. once again on this site too many people just want to complain and moan, I am glad that he is prepared to sign a new contract and show commitment to our club.

Sorry Ed. Ross is not an all round PLPlayer let him go asap

Agree0 Disagree0

Crazy to let hom go for 4-5 million. Pay him the extra 10-15 grand a week. he's worth it and he deserves it in my opinion. let's not forget if he got injured at start of season we would probably be relagated this year! I believe he could score 10 -15 league goals playing in Premier League. We be mad to let him go. MOT.

I tried to post this once before and it didn't appear.
Next Monday is the Leeds United golf day at Moor Allerton golf club near my home in Scarcroft.
I'm playing with my friend Paul Bell who is the commercial director at ER.
If any of you wish to come to my club and make yourself known to the bar staff (Maxine or Mark) I will be happy to meet you and buy you a drink.
Can't be fairer than that can I.
Meet all the greats and watch them play.
Jeff

{Ed013's Note - Was it this?

Hey survivour, forget the people slagging u off, I doubt your an imposter, so what if you got a few predictions wrong, many other people did too, and I thought u and mad mick where friends but never mind if he's not, and to the leeds fans slagging survivour off, please get off his back cause he probably knows more about the club than you.

It must have been an error, unsure why}
