People keep mentioning that we are playing a 'diamond' formation. Well a diamond should have a point and as far as I can see we don't have one. There was no one up there behind the front two on Tuesday. Tonge drifts around doing nothing of value on the right and leaving Sam totally exposed in the first half. Rudy has did a decent job in front of the back four in both home games. Bianchi is quite anonymous and plays as many slack passes as food ones and Murphy just won't move forward (he plays a 'pass and stay' style).
As soon as I saw the team sheet on Tuesday I knew what would happen. The strikers were left totally exposed in the first half as was the defence. The midfield were clueless. As many have already said on here, we haven't had a controlling midfield for many years (maybe when we were in League 1) but to not have a midfield general and no attacking flair and pace as we did on Tuesday is hopeless.
I did think that the defence is shaping up reasonably well and I am really pleased that Warnock has won MOM for the last two games but we need the midfield sorted. I still believe Don Cellino will do it. Here's hoping.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Last midfield gerneral we had was sir faibian delph and he was 12 when he played in our first team

Agree0 Disagree0

B
Fabian Delph I thought he was going to be a world beater but for whatever reasons has not cut the mustard but he's still young - ISH @ 24/25 ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I had delph as the next gerrard, think injuries have really blighted his progress and form. had a good-ish season last year and think he will be better this year. I'd like to see the lad do well and think he will come good

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh B think he will come good but I've been saying that for the last 4yrs ;(

So MC had a meeting with Master Bates, anyone have a clue what was being discussed?
I reckon it was the purchase of ER from Teak Commercial who are based in the tax haven British Virgin Islands & the owners have aa legal right to stay anonymous.
Or maybe I'm just putting 2 and 2 together to get 57.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Love to of been fly on wall in that room, hope MC gave it to him. don't think he would of but been great if he did. in fact let's just say he did. in fact I was in the room and mc hit bates over the head with guitar. fact

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermonsey, you need to write it in capitals, FACT. then people woll believe you

Agree0 Disagree0

No it was about a court case and MC gave him the football commentary rights

Apparently it was 2 guitars. FACT!

As it's quite on here at mo! On wingers anyone have any names I think Jordan Ibe or how about S W P he's on fringes of qpr team

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I can remember a time when we had the England, Scotland & Wales wingers all in our team . can anyone name them?

Agree0 Disagree0

John Barnes, Gareth Bale and Alex Rae? I got it right, right?

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you see Barnes destroy us when we lost 5 - 4 to Liverpool, though we were robbed as Chapmans disallowed goal should have stood.

Agree0 Disagree0

That game was one of the best games I have ever seen that we lost. Stachan played out of his skin

Agree0 Disagree0

I know it all turned out good in the end but the Stutgart game that we lost over 2 legs was another

Agree0 Disagree0

Also not the game but the goal. I must say I did applud gudjohonson's volley/sissor kick against us for chealsea gutted it went in but was a great finish tried a few of them down the park the week after but they never came off

Mike O'grady, Carl Harris and Eddie Gray (or Peter Lorimer)

Agree0 Disagree0

Think O'Grady was long gone by the time Carl Harris was around. What about Harris, Eddie Gray and Peter (I can't be bothered to run around much) Barnes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok, the answer is, Peter Barnes, Arthur Graham & Carl Harris. Allan Clarke player Harris up front after he signed Barnes. Wish we had either Harris or Graham now

Alright for all the doom and gloomers, if not the Hock than who? Pulis would never come PL manager of the season, left crystal palace and no doubt looking for a higher job. All the suggestions people are naming only see themselves in the prem so go on who then?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2014 18:20:00
Don't think Pulis would be that concerned if it was a championship side, but he would want to do it his way and that ain't going to happen.

I am not for turning back, bringing old players back but to throw one name in Gary Mac (unfinished business and more a coach than manager)

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all very well people having opinions about which manager should be in charge at LUFC but they are ignoring the way MC runs a football club. Like it or like it not we aren't going to get a well known manager so people should give all the speculation a rest!

Agree0 Disagree0

It is, unfortunately, becoming more and more obvious where the weakest link is?

Goodbye Hockaday?

Maybe Malky?

No not bloody malky mackay! holy b'jesus

Massimo will more or less pick the team as he is the man buying the players. It is the coachs job to get them fit and make them play as a team. No manager will come under these circumstances if they don't have a say in who they buy as all managers want a big say in the running of the club. Massimo has been in football a long long time and I will back his judgement against most. When we get to the premiership I think we will see him up the ante with bigger names coming in.When was the last time we had transfer activity like this and some are still moaning.Too much importance is put on Hockadays post, if we buy players with potential and a bit of class they will gel as a team. Italians like family and that's what Massimo is building, players staff and fans let's all marcher

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok few things. firstly Bige too much importance is put on hockaday's post. this is a joke right anyone who knows anything about football knows the manager/coach is the most important role. A great coach with an average team will do better than a great team with an average coach. I don't think pulis would come but think we could get a few. literally anyone mentioned would have a better record than Hock and therefore must be considered better. Nigel Pearson, Steve Clarke (know as a number two and coach as much as a manager so might be worth a shot), Simon Grayson (IMO best manager we have had since Wilko) Tim Sherwood is looking to biuld rep so maybe? Literally anyone would be step up from Hock. See a few people are jumping on Gary Mac, yes better than Hock but I really don't rate Gary Mac at all, he has done nothing as a manager/coach other than got sacked and got average results. Chris Houton, Glen Hoddle, Nigel Adkins (very very good), alan curbishly (wants to get back into football and pickings are slim), Dougie freedman, Alex Mcleigsh. All are better than Hock on paper also Malky not got job at palace so might be suitable. Remember Hock said MC has a say in signings but also let's hock have a say as well, so it is possible they might want job, if MC goes to everyone someone must say yes and we have a better coach happy days

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey
I enjoyed your posts until the last 7 days. I asked you not to stop posting last week after you was arguing with someone, I am now having second thoughts if I was right!
EVERY post for the last 7 days has been moan moan moan about the Hock, Jesus man give it a rest.
I didn't want the Hock but until he's sent packing let's stop moaning, it feels like we've been married 40yrs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey
Do you honestly think any of these names would drop down from manager to coach? What planet do you come from? The question is not which manager would be best for Leeds but which coach will achieve the required results operating under Cellinos system.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy love your optomisim and you keep saying get behind team and be optomistic I want to ask you this is being optomistic helping the team. is saying on here give the hock a chance I like him, etc going to help us get points? no it's not. I have tried to keep my posts with both humour and decent views and points. I will keep digging at the hock until he is sacked when he is completly useless. the more people are seeing his leeds team the more people are agreeing with me. I just said it first (ok and said it more than most) are my views wrong? am I out of order? am I not backing it with vaild points? you don't want me digging at hock. I don't want you sticking up for him. I say get him out boo, protest, kick him in the nuts. let mc know we won't stand for it, that will help us more than cheering on another millwall or brighton performance won't it? I also feel like we are married, it's like when the mrs keeps being nice about the neighbours six months is was until she was fed up with them, in the end it was her who P''sed through there letter box. I like hearing what you got to say but stop sticking up for the hock give it a rest. or agree to disagree but I will remind you of this when he goes

Agree0 Disagree0

Bermondsey
When did I say I don't agree with you!

The record has been playing for far too long mate CHANGE IT.

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly think Steve Clarke (big coach and number 2 for years), dougie freedman, nigel adkins, chirs houton and Nigel pearson might take job. Hock reckon he has a say in transfers so it sounds just a bit more of a european arrangment which they might take. if not ray wilkins, david coles, david platt are all meant to be good coaches who might take job. if not need a european to go with mc's european way. let's face it he had 36 managers at calgari so lots of people on continent are happy to work this way. I don't know that area well but maybe ruud Hullit off the top of my head? would need to look into it more. remember everyone I have said is out of work so might, might take job

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a mind set Andy. As I said before I come from London and my local team sadly is Millwall and I have same mindset. When millwall got lomas they put a 30 foot sign outside saying F@@K off Lomas. Millwall lost their first seven games under Lomas. The Millwall fans didn't wait until the 7th defeat. they got on Lomas's back from day one, from the 1st defeat. They let the chairman know he had to go sooner rather than later, they then got Holloway and have been undefeated for something like 15 championship games. sit top of the league schooled us and look in good shape. I don't understand this give him time. I think there should be a united get hock out of our club. let us all stand together at the start and end of every game (not during) and boo and chant let MC know we will not stand for it, try and force MC's hand and get a better person in. If we have as suggest got a poor coach as a good coach won't work under MC's regime then let MC know we will not stand for that (although I love MC). Leeds managers shall be treated like my daughters boyfriends (when she is old enough to have them) if liked they shall be tolirated if not they shall not be given a chance but given abuse, bullied and as long as they ain't bigger than me a slap. I think it is the way forward, it worked for millwall and they are a tossy tin pot club. but they did the right thing, which is doing the wrong thing and being unreasonable. Andy you are right we should be resonaible and give him chance of course he should but no leeds managers and my daughters fellas shall not be given the luxuary of resonable thought or chance. MOT and let's march hock on together out of our club. not in ten games times but tomorrow. Ill even paint the banner

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just saying it's no easy job with players coming and going, I would happily welcome a better manager than the Hock but atm I don't see that happening so I may as well get behind him until then. Cellino is no fool and has lots of experience in football plus he's renown for sacking managers/coaches so if he feels the Hock isn't up to his standards he will do something about it. It doesn't help the players or the manager to boo them though and put then off let's leave that for the opposition

Agree0 Disagree0

BW mate you've been told. You are not allowed to mention the Hock anymore by order of Andy mot!

Agree0 Disagree0

Still think MC is buying time, he wants a good italian coach but knows with players coming and MC himself finding his feet it would be better to hire a dummy coach when things go bad sack and blame the coach then bring in his proper man. maybe I am being cynical but I really think that is his plan can't see any other reason for the appointment that no one in football can understand. I do trust MC and can see why he has done it but think it is unfair on the fans. something still up with benito carbone coming and going was he lined up to replace the hock? something smells fishy

Agree0 Disagree0

What about if I use his alias. cockaday or timmy mallet (whackaday been some good posters of the hock as timmy mallet if you have seen them) or I could use his other nick name the don revie in disguise. a very good disguse

Just a thought with the latest arrivals and those rumoured to be on the way -
Q:- What's your thoughts that McCormack speaking out and not being that supportive of MC and also being vocally supportive of MCD has resulted in a demotivated squad at the end of last season (sh**e performances) - Those left having been given the opportunity to prove themselfs in opening games and pretty much failed - MC has now lost patience and is accelerating transfer activity and will pretty much replace the all of old playing and coaching staff before the transfer window shuts - with anyone left not fully behind what he is doing being gone in the January window even Byram if he doesn't put a shift in.

Just a thought!

But if the rumours ref:- Adryan and others happen he will have brought in enough players to have a new starting line up.

{Ed013's Note - He also took less money than Leeds offered}

21 Aug 2014 16:44:11
Ed, how you know that? What are you inferring by this? Does this mean deep down he knows he is league 1 standard and not much better and so did not want the pressure playing for LUFC comes with?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - It was confirmed earlier today that he took less money than Leeds offered. I think Cellino pulled out because of a dislike to Agard during the meetings, but that is me speculating}

IMO we lost out on Aggard, Leeds need decent wide players which we haven't had since Snods and Gradel were sold by captain p@*s take. we were scoring for fun when we had wide players that's the truth.

Could not say which is the formation we should play but it sure isn't the diamond.

Would like us to get Jordan Ibe on loan from Liverpool!

Hey ho!

Agree0 Disagree0

Only an opinion of course, but I think the agent was pushing for more wages as LUFC are higher profile.

I also think the agent was after his fee so advising his client to move, whether it was move down a league or in the same league it didn't matter. It should be noted that his fee would have been negligible if Agard had moved on a free at the end of the season.

My advise would have been, stay where you are, make a name for yourself in the championship and we crack on from there.

This, all coupled with the fact Agard turned up late and the "attitude issue" made MC turn away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't disrespect the Don!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it would have been as mentioned above. Don't keep Mr Cellino waiting.

When he calls me and asks if I can look after Eleonora for the evening while he's away on business securing the Adryan deal, you can bet I won't be late! Sorry Mrs Mick, I know it's your birthday tomorrow but I'm taking one for the team.

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 13 if that's the case why not join us and maybe bit by bit better himself and maybe who knows become a premier player with us! I've also heard he turned up late for meeting and was supposed to be above himself which obviously the DON didn't appreciate but some one must know what the truth is here, as we met their asking price near on straight away!?theres more to this than meets the eye, think that pisses me off is all sites are going over and over saying WE LOST OUT he's CHOSE TO GO ELSEWHERE, wasn't it us that pulled plug?

By the way will you be wearing the NEW shell suite as the effect could be just the correct attire to wear not too over flash but it would state that THIS MAN SHOPS AT BURTONS . Pure class

Agree0 Disagree0

So he has gone to a lower league and took less money.could it be he didn't want to play for the Hock? not saying that is a reason and trust me to come up with it but it stands as a reason as much as any other on here. he has seen/researched our performances, looked into the hock and thought no league 1 for me, maybe he thinks his team will go up and we will go down? Just speculation but what are others thoughts?

We just signed Bellusci on a permanent deal.

I guess he has had such an impression sitting on the bench on Tuesday it warranted it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Of course it is, won't have anything to do with how he's been in training showing just how much he has to offer the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

I could show how much I have to offer in 7 days of training. Its game time that really shows what a player is all about.

But what would I know, not an expert or anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well the Hock mentioned his leadership skills in his statement about the permanent deal, and with how pearce has looked uncomfortable on the right side of defence, wouldn't suprise me if he became captain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Those who have read my posts know I love MC and applaud his style and signings but the Hock simply has to go very soon. I'd dump him during the international break to minimize on drama and publicity and I'd be thinking now who should replace him. Couldn't go wrong with Pulis for example as Bermondsey White has suggested. Why do I feel this way? All the available evidence, our style of play with the diamond which only works if your midfielders are top class but it's this interview from Hock about we don't require wingers but width that has me fuming. Wingers are width Hock. Width is wingers. The man is a fool. Insufficient intellect to be a successful manager. Hock out. Soon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pulis. No chance. He left CP because of an interfering chairman, so I doubt he is going to even consider working for MC. Nice idea though as he is a top manager. If the Hock is to get the bullet I can't see a long line of good managers lining up at ER for the job of head coach! Still, we might win our next six games and The Hock will be a hero! MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pulis could be a dream but I have made a list further up of suitable and possible managers. so on this post I will list people I think Hock is better than.honey monster. Chebacka (although Chewie might inspire some passion), Fred West and my nan. take that back think my nan is better than Hock. serisously though who is worse than the Hock on paper?

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably me and you BM! But then again.

Hock says half a dozen players against Brighton were suffering from a virus. Dressing room was a messy place after. Could this explain how poor we were?
.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Making excuses already? that doesn't bide well for the future.

Saying that, if they did have viruses, other players should have been brought in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smell a cop out, would of been mentioned before like in the spurs v west ham game. also we didn't have virus before millwall game and by all accounts they were carbon copy performances

Cagliari have released Adryan from his contract so it's now just a case of sorting out a deal with his agent and his parent club. Looks like we're halfway there. Come on Masssimo MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would be awfully funny is we couldn't come to some sort of agreement with flamengo.

But I reckon MC will push this deal through no matter what.

Now we just need some width, Kebe and Stewart anyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont wish to be a killjoy but why have cagliari released the lad from his contract if he is that good? Also let's hope we get some pace in the team soon because it is so pedestrian at the moment and fairly predictable.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're not a killjoy Cork. The loan can be terminated by the team who loaned him out in the first place, same as in the UK. MC has a relationship with Adryan, he's the man who took him to Cagliari, based on that he must have a good relatonship with Adryan's owners. Looks to me as if the barrriers are being removed, let's hope this one comes off.

Agree0 Disagree0

How about Scott Sinclair for some width? He has already been told to look elsewhere at City, would be a great loan signing. Sinclair, Adryan, Bianchi, supporting Sharp and Antenucci, that would have the formation set at 4-1-3-2 though.

Really hope we steer clear of the diamond formation from now on though, it's awful.

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

They probably released him because he didn't fit into their plans, being "good" doesn't necessarily mean he was anted there.

Happens a lot when new owners or manager comes into a club, just look at Cardiff, Man U, Leeds.

Antenucci has signed a 2 year contract, is it just me or are a lot of our new signings only 2 years instead of the 3-4 year ones were normally used to. Shame we didn't get Hunt and Morrison on 2 year deals.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could this be because MC is hoping planning that we'll be in the Prem in 2 years, and he already knows these signings aren't good enough for the Prem?

Not here to spark an argument, but bic, we've had 3 games and your all doom and gloom, we've got 10 to 11 new players, give them time to gel, and in time well have a team feared again like the good old days, so bic this message is for u, and please stop being negative :).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10-11 new players and we played 7 old ones on Tuesday. Hmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a difference between being negative and being honest & realistic. I have tried to suggest an alternative way forward rather than just slag the team off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think it is the nature of the defeats that is upsetting a few people. we have all know football and can spot a team that looks in trouble and at the moment we look like the team that is in trouble. Things may turn round and I will get behind team but at the moment all the signs do point to hard season and possible religation. I know it is early but we all know what bad teams look like and can point out every year which teams will be in the dog fight.

Just heard Neil Warnock is having talks with Huddersfield about the vacant managers job?
We might soon have the bin, to dump our rubbish in!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we knock warnock remember he is a very good manager with proven track record, he had no chance at leeds, no budget and was told he could build a team around snodgrass then we sold him the following week. people remember the results and performance but not the circumstances. Poor old Colin is better than what he showed at leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil only signed the players he did because he wasn't given any backing from Master Bates to go out and get the players he wanted. One of the first signings he tried to get but was knocked back was Joel Ward who has gone on to be a decent Premiership player, so that shows the quality he was after until Bates ruined the plans.
