got a bad feeling new owners a bunch of blaggers and just looking to make a future profit. also sick of so-called supporters having a go about low attendances. go to the match and stop bitching.

Believable0 Unbelievable16

Yes, especially when the bloke said that they thought they had got Leeds for a good price, and if they managed to get us back in the Premier, then they would get a good return.

The only way to get any sort of return is to sell, so to me it does not sound like they will hang around much longer than a year or so of the premier.

They also said not to expect the spending of stupid amounts of money, so I read that to mean, just enough to give us a shot of promotion this year, thereby maximizing their potential "return"

50/50 news in my opinion

Premier=good, a new owner again= unknown

to me it sounds like they are going to sell off probably 49% in a few years to recover the 52 mil they paid for the club but will probably wait until in prem league to sell these shares as they would easily get the full 52 mil + back for 49% rather than 100% if they sustain prem league status and still be the main share holders of the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Dec 2012 08:27:08
if they are planning to stay main shareholders in the club long term then they might throw 20-30 mil at the club over the next few seasons but i think they are more likely to only spend what the club makes after this season .
there not gonna spend 10 mil each season if we are not making a profit of that same amount or more because its not sustainable .

Agree1 Disagree2

Stop being negative.
It s a new dawn. At least we should give them the benefit of the doubt.
January is for panic buys. I m afraid if the players we want aren t available, it makes sense to wait till the summer, otherwise we end up once again with journeymen and deadwood on 2 or 3 year contracts.
They re right, we re not that far off in the championship. Make a couple of the loans permanent and make 1 or 2 quality signings (if possible), couple of players coming back from injury ( Somma and Rudy) and we ve got a pretty good chance of doing something this year.
I d rather this than some person without a clue buying another Seth Johnson and Robbie Fowler and then bugg$ring off to leave us with another 10 years of pain. These fellas are talking sense.
It s time to look forwards, not back.
Get behind the lads and dare to dream.
Get sum blud on yer boots.

It is well reported that gfh is back by a very wealthy billionaire in the deal to buy Leeds united.

Meaning someone who wishes to remain anonymous linked to the royal family over there has put his money through gfh into buying Leeds. That is shy the takeover took so long and why they aren't saying much bout what is going to happen at Leeds as they will be waiting to hear from the owner.

All this doom and gloom. Just be happy we have no debt and money will be spent and elland road and Thorpe arch will be bought a lot better then under bates.

Agree4 Disagree1

IPO was always their exit strategy from the beginning. They'll have a 4 or 5 year plan for that.

Agree1 Disagree1

Bates took over a team that were 14th in the c-ship and reached the playoff final that year . we then got relegated went into admin had 10 points deducted and then 15 the next season and stayed in the 1st division for 3 yrs . he sold our best players
, (norwich doing well in prem with our 1st division midfeild , add to that gradel and delph) and charged more for tickets than some prem clubs . a lot of leeds fans have no problem with bates . i take it these people are not the ones worried about gfh .

Agree1 Disagree0

Shut up with the conspiracys, stick to LUST meetings if you want to do all that, stop stirring the pot

Agree1 Disagree2

The last poster is so right. The chairman of GFC is a member if the royal family. Google David Haigh shrugs off 800m million loss he says not wishing to sound arrogant but its peanuts to us we sovereign backed google it.

Also GFH own the whole of the city the airports everything in Bahrain if for instance they said were gonna spend loads how much do you think other clubs would want for their players

These people are billionaires and are not new money much like chelski owner

Agree1 Disagree0

We have an underwriter now, so it's impossible to get into debt. doesn't mean the spending will be high though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if they are not in the sheikh mansour mould i still think it better than Ken Bates....
no point doin a liecester and spending millions in the champ...rather get up on the cheap and spend when we are in the prem...

It doesnt really matter what was said at the press conference today as talk is cheap. What matters now is action as that speaks far louder than words! We will see what GFH are about in January with positive new signings. GFH all us Leeds fans are keeping the faith. Please return us to the promised land! Merry xmas to all! PA

What a lovely feeling: We survived the doomsday experience (which was more KB staying on than Mayan prophecy) GFH have now taken full control and already I'm in the Xmas spirit. 'Come all ye faithful' return to to your rightful home. Come in from the cold and feel the warmth my brothers. Sing loud and joyous cus the era of King Ken has gone. {Ed013's Note - Still a few hours to go yet mate}

So happy with the takeover it was all over the news and on back pages we are still a huge club who makes a difference to the way English football is. Anyways news just in from daily mail neil has 10 million and he will be signing loanees all 4 and two extra players including a top striker. This is the first article I have seen talking about budgets for NW so I would believe it looks good to me. Read the DM before disagreeing looks true and clear to me

I'm sure that ill get shot down for this, but am I the only one feelingle really positive at the moment?this doesn't have so much to do with gfh as you May think.it mainly stems from our midfield.we've have billy and were great, weve had David (twice) and were great, Oliver, now ruddy!everytime we've been worth our salt we've had a midfield general, prepared to break legs!just a thought

There has been a huge amount of excitement around the GFH deal over the past few months which sadly I believe is extremely mis-guided. No one should over look the fact that at 81 KB has lost significant fire in his belly and the offensive and difficult position that many of the fans have taken have effectively cornered him into doing a deal. Can I say now that I know KB well and believe me pressure from the fans has influenced him to do a deal which in his heart he knows is not the best deal for the club. KB has done the club a great service over the last few years, he has not taken a penny from the club and has ensured the club stands in its own two feet. This strategy has not always been communicated well to the fans but has been the right strategy for the club. Fan pressure has now ensured a deal has been done which believe me in the long run is not the right deal for the club, be careful what you wish for because today has opened the door to people who have no feel for the club have little or no experience of running football clubs and have no affiliation with the people of Leeds. The only saving grace is Shaun Harvey is still at the helm. Genuine Leeds fans this is a dark day and not the great new dawn that many predict; the noisy few brought this about be very careful what you wished for.

If I am right Haigh comes from Leeds and supports Leeds!!

I agree I can see us playing conference football in five years time.

You know KB! I don't think so pal...... Get a life this site is for true supporters who actually know something about our great club. Takeover done, now it's time to MOT back to the promised land.

Conference football is this guy on a another planet.

Haha got to love people that think they know it all. Just because they didnt come out saying we are minted and going to buy loads of players people think they are dodgy?

lets face facts when has a club owned by bates ever won anything. even if these guys do a rubbish job on us they cant be worse than bates who has had 100s of millions out of football clubs hes owned but never invest a penny. chelsea cant extend there ground cos bates owns a slice of real estate they need to do so. he owns er and ta and will hold us to ranson for years to come. so did bates save my club errrrrrrrrr no mot

My god some ppl are do negative. If you moan so much go support another club. This us the best news the club has had in a decade at least.

Becchio to Leeds (cost; priceless)

Believable22 Unbelievable0

21 Dec 2012 16:58:30
not a chance in hell Becchio will go in January. He is the life and soul of this club at the moment with the new owners coming in, the club will be built around him, not to replace. I.e quick wingers (thomas, hall) to supply the single forward (becchio)

I would love to see CMS, Tom Hateley, Andy Driver and Johnny Russell brought in plus Tate and Thomas made permanent

Agree2 Disagree1

His ability to be in the right place at the right time is brilliant but he's not a 90 minute man. 70 mins at best. Love him to bits but he better stay off the Christmas pud.... Come on Bec's your still young enough to give us some pace, get the training in my son or your time with us is limited. Hate to see him go...but

The question that no one has asked the new owners today is, as new owners of LEEDS UNITED do you also own Elland Road & Throp ach?
Come on all Leeds fans let's fill Elland Road Saturday & get behind our team for a promoition push back to where we belong! {Ed013's Note - No they havn't, they will continue to try and buy them over the coming months}

This question was asked of the new owners. As it stands they do not own either but aim to do so. From the sound of it Elland Road may be more straightforward than Thorpe Arch.

Don't know how u all feel about press conference but I think the new owners said everything they should.
If they had spouted off and said we're going to spend big, any player we made a bid for would have his transfer fee doubled.
They appear to want to ensure the club is viable and to invest in it so we move forwards. Early days I know, but I'm quite impressed and really hope this is a new era for our great club.
Just want to say thanks to the fans on Wednesday night you were awesome and the team made me proud too. MOT Ron

What is there to be disappointed about? They said they wouldn't spend crazy money like some! to me this means we won't be spending £50m on Torres (thank god) it does not mean they won't spend whatever it takes just that hopefully they won't waste it

Agree3 Disagree1

I agree, most of their players cost more than the entire Leeds team, nowadays its mega money that wins trophys, the days of less well off clubs winning owt are long gone mores the pity.

Agree1 Disagree1

They also said that getting Leeds into the Premier would give them a good return. You only get a return when you sell in my opinion. I don't think they are here for the long haul

Not to sure but i think u get round about 60 mil for going up wen reading played swansea in playoffs there was 90 mil for jackpot but that was two year ago . If thats right that could be a good return .mot

Agree0 Disagree1

They are bankers yes I said bankers so anything they do by making money is seen as a good return.

This does not mean they will sell up. Ppl read to much into things. Be happy they are backed by a very very wealthy msn

21 Dec 2012 12:46:37
what we want is ..........

players that cost around the 1 mil price range rather than free - 500 k .

players on 10-15 k per week rather than offering them 3-7k pw and scaring them off .

crap players sold on even if for very reduced fee to free up wages for better players .

deals on home game tickets - maybe just a pie or something thrown in with the ticket .

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Every home game prices kids 12-15 pounds adults 15-18 pounds .

Agree4 Disagree1

I agree on a whole, but i will be happy with players who want to play for the shirt and even if they are not the greatest, put in the graft

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Dec 2012 12:30:45
sounds like the club is going to be run in a similar way to bates the only difference might be that we wont have to sell top players and we get a few mil out of the yearly profit to spend on players + what ever we get for players been sold on .

it is a bit of a coincidence how leeds' takeover happens on the day the world will end. it sounds like it's the leeds takeover that is causing the world to end. just shows that we r not aloud anything good to happen to our club or the world will end

TAKEOVER UPDATE - LATEST

LEEDS UNITED have called a press conference for Friday morning amid speculation that GFH Capital have completed their takeover of the Championship club.

The "Post" can report that, as a parting shot, Ken Bates has organised the timing of the press conference to coincide with the moment that hellfire and brimstone will descend upon the earth and destroy us all.

Bates was quoted as saying "Yes, I'll really get a kick out of conning the people into thinking that after the eight years of mediocrity the club has experienced under my ownership there might be some hope for the future, only for their dreams to be dashed by the end of days. Suzannah and I will be sitting in the Chairman's suite counting our wads of cash if anybody is wondering what we'll spend our last moments doing"
