Summer 2012:'Dont worry guys Warnock wouldn't have come to us unless he was promised big funds for players'. 'In Warnock we trust'. 'I'd expect 4 or 5 new faces in within the next 10 days'
End of Summer 2012: 'Hope Warnock hasn't been lied to because he might walk'. ' We'll go in to the market big time in January when we get new investors'.

Summer 2013: Read what on this site now and then you will realise it's 'Ground hog day'

Warnock openly saod he was going to walk! Your point is pointless.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the OP actually has a point

Agree0 Disagree0

I too think the op has a point, over the last few transfer windows esp we have been led to believe we would see some real investment in the playing staff and every time have been let down by selling off our better players to balance the books and replace them with players that are not fit to wear the shirt, with a cpl of exeptions, hope it's different this window, we will see

My money is on McDermott getting no funds for transfers, bringing in a couple of freebies and utilising the academy to the extent O'Leary did. still fancy us for promotion if that's the case. keep the faith!

My cousin works as a sparky. Has been at Thorpe Arch on and off over past few weeks and folks there seem to think we will have some funds but will be lucky if we get a million without selling some assets (you all know who I mean).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As a sparky and youve been to Thorpe Arch "on and off" over the past few weeks: do you think it could be the switch that's faulty?

I've not been to TA, its my cousin. Think the disco room lights aren't working too good.

Trying to get them sorted for the celebrations at the end of the season!

I see Doyle has said he's not coming so that's one rumour that can stop. Pearce signed extension at reading so that can stop too. Honestly nobody has a clue who we r after other than hunt and b honest I'm glad because at least it shows what sort of guy Brian mc is. Keep the faith people and pull together with the club as it's the only way we can move forward

I must prefer reports of players we AREN'T getting. I was getting really tired of all the "Stabs in the dark" signings. TBH it tires me out. I can't cope with out of season speculations. The past two were exhausting enough. Roll on the end of the transfer window when we can just get on with the football. Hopefully at that point we'll have 5 wins in the bag too :)

to those unable to read the story when GFH took over, Bates is STILL chairman until the end of this month, then we have our new chairman who will act completely different to Bates WITHOUT spending silly money

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think it would be nice to spend SOME money before the silly money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any money on quality young players!

Agree0 Disagree0

First poster do you think bates is still in charge of the purse strings?
and if its true then gfh have no funds?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates will have some influence up until the end of his reign because he's still chairman up until the end of the month, then itll be Haigh, which is probably why they've stayed quiet up until Bates actually goes

Nice that leeds utd are doing an event called 'hour leeds' to raise money for poverty in local community and highlighting it. The irony is not lost on me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think we need to have a whip round for players too.

Hope mcd isn't being flipped around,
We were told more investment coming after the 5mill but none has, unless they are keeping it a secret
We were told last year we would be ready for jan transfer window but did naff all.
Has mcd been told money was there but because no more investors have come forward, there is now, no money?
He is pretty switched on mcd, more than capable of doing a good job on a shoestring, but he has inherited a pretty crap team. Just don't want him to walk because he has been lied to.
On the other hand, maybe there have been lots more investment and mcd has so much money to spend he is spoilt for choice!

Don't worry Ausman all will be good.

We didn't splash the cash in January for 2 reasons. firstly Neil Warnock was in charge and it wouldn't of made sense to give the manager x amount of cash to spend if they knew he wasn't going to be there come the end of the season. Secondly during the January transfer window most players are still contracted to clubs and would demand a fee where in the summer they could be available on free transfers. BMD is a top class manager and would not have taken the job without being told he has some money to play with in the next transfer window. We will bring players in we just have to be patient.

The good thing about BMD is he isn't doing what Warnock did and brining in players over 30 who are passed it. He has already brought in a striker who is relatively young at 24 and is rumoured to be targeting a few more lower league players around a similar age who have potential.

keep the faith mate we are in for a good summer with regards to squad strengthening.

Agree0 Disagree0

McD is going nowhere, he has just moved to Yorkshire ffs. Some posts are so pathetic

Agree0 Disagree0

The way I see it is IF and that's a big IF the board did come out and say yeah we have loads of money then any player we are looking at would demand at least a 30% extra transfer fee, and that goes for wages as well, I am just hoping this is a shrewd business move by the board to get the good, honest players BMD wants.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Brian is a top bloke and I hope he stays for years! Keep the faith MOT

Anyone else think today was suspiciously quiet? I thought we would hear some sort of mumbling from the media if there was even a hint that this 'green light' meeting went well. hope tomorrow brings somethig positive
Eirewhite

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was of the understanding that there was a "money meeting" yesterday to give the green light on potential signings.

Nothing has been mentioned, so I am a tad worried and have a funny feeling that the board have even rejected BMDs free and budget signings.

Still, heres to hoping I am wrong. We really need to strengthen, seeing as others have already started - Reading getting Drenthe etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

"We had a meeting yesterday and the board said that we have a shed load of money to spend. If any clubs would like to increase the price of our targets that would be great. ". As a realist I can not see an anouncement to do with any finances and why would there be. Stop worrying and wait and see
