was at the game yesterday and came away disappointed obviously that we couldn't put in a performance for the near 8,000. can't perform to the max every game but we only played well for opening 20 mins of 2nd half. sick of conceding from corners and Saiz far from his best (wish he'd play the pass sooner) but overall no need to panic whatsoever. all other results went for us and as long as we learn from our defeats we'll be up there. frustrated but not too concerned, we march on to Ipswich together.

With the way we play sometimes what looks rubbish is mm away from looking superb and a lot of these moves involve Saiz so many of his touches didn’t come off yesterday but still the goal came from one that did. Not much came off for us but we could still have drawn. let's get `Roofe back up front and fit, Hernadez giving Saiz space and support with the trickery and we will come good again.!

Lets not get too despondent lads, if we had won we would have been top of league. Not happy at all with Saturdays showing but think the way we lined up was the big problem. I reckon giving young lads a chance is a big plus for any team wanting to progress, if they are not good enough why do we have an academy. Bielsa still learning this league so patience is needed. This is his first season, the first time the players have used this system and we are doing ok. My point is we are dropping points in games we should be winning, but guess that's the unpredictability of football. Good thing is the players can only get better at playing this style and as the season wears on Bielsa will learn and maybe come up with a plan b that is not plan a. We all know depth of squad is suspect and needs reinforcing in areas and sure that will happen. I am not losing hope at all but very frustrated that we can't find that last touch that turns a chance into a goal. That could be the difference between automatic promotion and playoffs. Honestly think if we had took chances we would be 5 points better off. The winter months will be a big test and who we bring in in Jan will show our intent. If Bielsa gets us up in his first season that will be remarkable and i will be over the moon but at the end of the season if we are still up there battling for that right i will be happy with that as well.

Totally agree Bige. We need a big goalscoring centre forward so our wide men can see a target.
Wonder what Chappers is up to these days? Lol 😃.

Edmondson and Dalby can put themselves about. I don't think either are particularly far away from the matchday 18. Time to make room by ditching Dallas altogether and demoting Alioski to the bench.

One thing you didn't mention BIGE, is that everyone else is dropping points in games they should be winning. Apart from that, I don't argue with anything you said.

Yeah heard that George. It would be great to see one of them come through very soon and make an immediate impact with Clarke out on the wing. 👍.

Also do not see much point in Coyle staying at Fleetwood all season. Would be a big help in the winter months and that league is not challenging enough for him.

That’s a great final post BIGE. Wonder what the situation might be with getting some of the loan boys back early!? Grot and Wilkes scored again this weekend too.

Malik Wilkes, Liam kitching and Lewis Coyle are all on loans until Jan. The rest are on season long deals and I would imagine with the players involved no early release clauses.

Not a damaging result looking at table thankfully . I think roofe and Roberts starting didn't work . But probably forced with Harrison injured and Hernandez just coming back to fitness . Roofe needs to play thru the middle . Roberts for me has gone a good job filling in but he is still should t be starting up front ahead of roofe just yet, however we do have players coming back to fitness so onwards and upwards.

Guys with the results at the weekend we have just dodged a bullet. so easily could have been 5 points adrift but still only 2. Bielsa will learn and improve and as others have said we are still in touch despite losing our creativity and goalscorers for 6 weeks. Still think we will be at least top six but agree we need to add to squad in Jan.

Surely Halme, Struijk, Shaugnessy are the future and therefore about time we gave them minutes on the pitch. Cooper is an old school centre half, of L1 standard, who plays to his capabilities but carries a mistake in him every game. Either we start blooding some of this fresh meat or come January go all out for Foyth (or similar) .

Leodis I've seen enough of Nessy to be worried over his skill level. Halme is certainly improving and could challenge next season. As for Cooper, he has risen his skill level to its peak and has acquitted himself well overall but he will continue to make errors, just not as many as last season. For me the quick answer is sign Huth. Free agent, wants to play for Leeds and was pictured in the city a few months ago.

Ive got a feeling that Shaunessy has had his chance, last time out had a dreadful showing for the under 23s.

Diaz very professional, has the captaincy most weeks, still developing, struijk, looks and behaves like he plays for Manchester City but on Friday played like he it was Bognor City! Aapo looks for the closest out of the three for me calm, comfortable with the ball and pretty tall!

Probs the worst player in the whole squad George forbthem seasons. Let’s get real George. He’s done. If he’s that good. ? Why hasn’t he got clubs busting their balls too get him? Answer. He’s crap. !

George he has 2 PL WINNERS MEDALS WITH CHELSKI But only played 40 odd games over 4 seasons. And many as sub. So doesn’t really give a true reflection on how good he is. IMO and when sen him on tv. He’s slow and brutal in the tackle and not very tactile. So might fit in well with coops! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️.

Don’t think Bielsa will want Huth or he would have been here already. Bielsa hasn’t had a lot of chance to see Aapo, because he was injured pre season, but he’s got promise for me and height!

There are many who look to our 'thin' squad to explain our current dip in form like the Christianson era. I think that is partly true but not the whole story. Playing the attacking style we do at present means we can get caught on the break so a strong defence is needed. We are not doing badly in that respect except in one area - set pieces. I not one for singling out one player but in this case the there is one that is a problem. Cooper makes at least one glaring error every game - he made a couple against Blackburn but that not the main worry. Hi record at set pieces is awful. When he plays we regularly concede from corners - when he doesn't we are better. His general play isn't bad but he's lacking in those area. If you add team selection to the mix that is also a problem, Roberts, for example, is no better than Ecuban. His two goals against Preston masked the problem. So to leave him playing through the middle at put Roofe out wide was a big mistake. I have not seen Roofe have a good game playing wide for Leeds. His mistake, (like Klich the year before against Cardiff) , ultimately lead to the corner where conceded ironically off Roofe's shins. Roofe contributed very little all game. I would have left Roberts on the bench if not I would have played him out wide where his pace could do some damage and Roofe through the middle instead. Dallas at left back was a joke when we had Pearce or Alioski who could do a much better Job. If Alioski was at full back Jack Clarke could have had more of a game. Even Beradi at left back and Shackleton at right would have been better. None of the starters could cope with Armstrong and Reed. All in all we had the players to get a positive result we just didn't use them. I said this before the game not after!

Hess Roberts no better than Ekuban is very harsh and untrue. I agree a fit Roofe plays in the middle ahead of him. I'd like to see Jack and Shacks start games.

21 Oct 2018 16:49:07
Ecuban wasn't bad except he couldn't score. Roberts flattered to deceive with his goals. He has pace and runs the channels - so did Ecuban and probably better. Roberts has time to improve though. Roofe can only play through middle in this league everywhere else he's pretty ordinary.

Aapo Halme,

Yes he's a kid, but he's 6ft 5, calm confident and get bring the ball out with his feet. Doesn't look like Shaunessy is rated and we have been playing recently without any recognised centre halves on the bench. I'd like to see him get some bench time and experience with the squad. We might have plans to bring in someone else in Jan and fair enough if we do, but we paid 500k for this kid to play him in the under 23s and he brings some of the physical attributes we need together a calmness on the ball.

The bbc stars say 20 shots, 6 on target and 11 corners. Only 2/ 3 championship teams bettered those figures yesterday.

So our style of football is creating opportunities but we are not taking them well enough.

Bielsas style means that we can often leak one goal, but even with that style of football, we have only conceded 2 in the league in three games.

Bamford bought to score and create, hasn't happened and Roofe and Hernadez missed 5/ 6 games and still not match fit.

What does all that mean? For me, we're not far away and still no need to give up. A lot of football still to be played, judge us when we have a fully fit Roofe and Hernadez back contributing.

Jack Clarke is good, but let's not over expect from him, still needs to build his fitness and doesn't track back enough or have Alioski physicality or Hernendaz experience. For me keep using him in bursts, great fresh pair of legs to bring on.

Edmundson, is a different type of striker, and provides a slightly different option as his 3 goals for the b team showed. Doesn't have the flashy skills that Bielsa prefers but in a tough game where you need somone to get a head or foot onto an opportunity, not a bad option for the bench.

In a strange way, perhaps better we lost yesterday than grabbed a last min draw. Made Bielsa accept the problems, interesting to see how he reacts and whether he can address the issues. Two home games now to try and get back to how we were playing.

Still think the opportunity to get promoted this year is there, the team spirit is there and there is enough talent around the squad. 1/ 2 of the right additions in Jan, a fit Bamford and brown making contributions and a bit of luck with injuries. Keep the faith, support and encourage the team.

Good post Spanish, we are still well in the mix, but need a good win just to get our confidence back. Hopefully we will get it on Wednesday. I also agree with Gilesy, both first choice full backs, especially Douglas were missed yesterday. What has happened recently should let the powers that be realise that a quality signing or two in January is a must.

Needed to keep calm and composed after the early goal.
Panick set in and we lost the 1st 20 mins of the game.
They could've had 2 more in that time. We did play some good stuff in patches but were always chasing the game. alioski at wing back or on the bench. beradi cb or bench. roofe more central or
bench. pearce shoulda started to prove if he's good enough. perfect opertunity. love to see clarkey get a start.
6 points next week, cheers lads.

Lack a big target imposing goalscoring striker. Not quite playing the football like at the start of season but we are still playing good stuff in patches. However when we get it wide there is no 'Chris Wood' type of target man. Our play then comes to nothing. Klich seems to be our best looking scorer!
Also as we most know need an imposing quality centre half too. I think most Leeds fans new this at the start of the season!
Lets hope we put Ipswich to the sword this week! MOT.
