Some blame Massimo for lack of activity in transfer window but Barrow obviously a monk choice why sign a 20 grand a week passanger?

I suspect that Barrow was on his list but not necessarily his first choice winger. It is reported that Monk wanted a winger and a striker. When the Canos/Fletcher deals collapsed then the club brought in two wingers. Still don't get why Monk did not involve him more but he was poor against Brentford

It's difficult to imagine we'd have all this heartache now if we'd signed Canos. And that definitely ain't Monks fault

It's official. Were no better than average and really don't deserve play offs. we've come a long way this season so let's re group and strengthen in the summer with 3 or 4 top quality players as well as barts and fonzie signed we will come back better. It's taken Brighton 3 seasons to build a team good enough to go up so chins up and look forward to next season. MOT

Sorry Garry disagree. We did not perform today. possesion means nothing goals are all that count. Unfortunately todays show just continues the flat performances we have put in over the last few weeks Whereas the other teams are fighting we seem to be stuck in the doldrums with posession meaning; plenty of sideways and backwards passes in midfield, the old sickness is still there. Completely bereft of creative ideas in front of goal. In fact my word of the day today (and other days) is "toothless". I am afraid that, for all the gung ho rhetoric today is the day the dream died.

Agreed. Sometimes I wish Monk could just come out and be honest that we got it all wrong today and v Wolves. To play one up top and 2 holding midfielders is just ludicrous in a must win match. His defensive and cautious style has cost us the playoffs. Hopefully he can learn from it.

Bubble well and truly burst. great effort but squad just too shallow needed another striker to take pressure off Wood. Please keep this squad together invest in some quality in the summer and get up automatic next season. MOT

Yep more chance of back to mid-lower table mediocrity than keeping Monk and the few players we need to keep replaced with cheap journey men, there's only one man Cellino's going to blame for costing him S/T money back and that's Monk.

22 Apr 2017 22:21:50
Why keep the squad together - they aren't good enough save a couple of them so let's get rid and start afresh with some proper investment

Think that's the nail in the proverbial coffin. In my opinion if it means anything to anyone other than me. We have over achieved this season and I'm not saying I'm totally disappointed and numb that we couldn't hold onto the position we had like 3 weeks ago. but Cellino obviously had his views on top 6.

Hope it all takes a positive into next year as we need monk to stay ( to learn a plan B ) ( sarcasm) incase a few guys are that pissed off you take it to heart. Lol. Monk has been a revelation to the club this year on a pretty crap budget and if we build on what we have next year.

Then top 2 had to be a target. Just back from Florida this morning and whilst there got a fellow Leeds man thump his chest to the Leeds Leeds Leeds chant in tampas bush gardens. He had baseball cap on, is my Leeds top on. We are Leeds MOT. EVERYER in the world. Let's win last 2atches on a high. Please πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸΊπŸ‘βš½βš½

My response to a disgruntled Arsenal fan who says he knows how I feel - Maybe but your expectations are a little higher and you've had Cup Wins, European qualification, some great football and decent players - We've just had constant shite, failure, frustration, points deductions, shitty owners, court cases, Football league sanctions, transfer embargoes, relegations, defeats to Sutton, Histon and now fecking Burton a town of 250 people, with one promotion from league One which we nearly threw away and playoff defeats to mighty Fecking Doncaster and drubbing to mighty Fecking Watford - You would get more pleasure wiring your wedding tackle to the mains whilst poking cocktail sticks in your eyes πŸ‘€

Before I start I must say this has been the best season for a long time and we have done better than expected. However in terms of promotion / top six places we have been sadly lacking. Midfield is average and we have not the players going forward to create the number of chances we need to succeed.

In every game that we have won we could have lost or drawn and the chances we created were few. Quite easily we could have been nearer the middle than the top without our back four and goal keeper and more luck than we normally have.

Our mid field has been more solid than in the past but at the expense of creativity. The passing and running game, for the most part, has been woeful at times. As far as wide men are concerned it's sad to say but I think Ayling could have done better than any of them., which shouldn't be. They are not good enough doing their main job - getting wide, beating defences and making chances. Wood has been great at scoring with the few chances he has had but his general game is average.

Having two kids in the middle of the park at this stage of the season doesn't make much sense. They could come good but what was more likely is they succumb to the pressure. Neither of them score and their forward passing is non= existent for the most part. My worry for next season is us not keeping the back five.

If we do we have something to build on. Without them its starting from scratch. Sacko, Dallas, Hernandez, Alfonso are not good enough. Equally Bridcutt and O'kane seem not quite good enough either although we haven't seen much of O'kane. Monk obviously doesn't rate him even when his passing ability and experience is superior to Vierra and Phillips.

I always take the view that, with the occasional exception you don't win anything with kids. Our midfield has however been just that. The exception has been when Bridcutt plays and then we end up been too deep and Hernandez has the experience but is far too inconsistent. He is long past his best. Next season we need to invest heavily in mid field, in the wide areas and a striker to push Wood.

Got no one to blame but ourselves, Monk has to take some of the blame when he's refused to try a plan b and played only one up front when we've needed to win games. Hard to be pleased about this season, when we should've made the playoffs comfortably after the Brighton game. He's improved the defence, but it is a lot better without Bamba, Cooper and Bellusci constantly making mistakes, but he hasn't improved the midfield or the lack of creativity. Very desolate tonight.

I have never been a fan of deciding a league competition played over a season being (partially) decided by a knockout cup game. You can never argue that the cream rises to the top and for me whoever (over a full season) comes in the top 3 goes up, no arguments. Of course if the money grabbing playoffs would have included us I may just have kept quiet. I agree with you Speedy; if we finish 7th then that is because 6 teams are better than us and that is all we deserve. Too many toothless performances over the season.

Agree, been to most home games this season and think we finally ran out of steam and luck. Best season for a long time, both in terms of results but also feelgood factor. Team spirit and effort can take you so far but ultimately quality counts. We're not good enough for top 2 but I thought we'd scrape the playoffs and then who knows?

Been supporting the mighty whites since the late 60s so seen it all, good and bad. The optimist in me says we'll build on this season and progress, the books now seem to be balanced and all the skeletons are hopefully out of the woodwork. The pessimist says that unless we have a proper plan and serious investment, we could lose Taylor, Pontus, Barts, Vieira and maybe GM and his team. Am hoping we keep the management team despite some disappointment.

I posted back in Feb that teams had sussed us out and we needed a rethink but we persisted with the same system and players and here we are. Ultimately GM can only work with what he has; this will be a crucial close season and the intentions of our Italian co-owners will determine our prospects. It feels like we're at a crossroads . will it be the stairway to heaven or the highway to hell? Chins up, beers down and here's to next season!
