The next 2 weeks are really crucial.can we actually bring in 2 to 3 players of high quality, like Maynard,Danny rose, beckford or Boyd.even dj campbell.or s wright Phillips.then we have a chance.im sorry but no quality no promotion for me.good hard working team yes but just need extra spark.like Kazim Richards at Blackburn,he would have been good.
We will do well but not top 6 now.blackpool were much better than us but unfourtanately for them there best 2 players will be gone in 2weeks.then they will have same problem as us....this is not a moan, not getting at the team,it's justs fact...shrew leeds

Poleon deserves his chance, just what we need, how hungry does a player have to be, bet he's chomping at the bit. Come on Neil, give him half a game and I'll bet anything he impresses. before the season started who (honestly) would have thought young Sam would get a first team call up before Dom ?

Believable7 Unbelievable8

I'm going to Peterborough on Saturday but haven't been up yet to any others this season - does it make me a joke that I put my 10month old daughter before football!? In my book it makes me a half decent father that she's my number 1 priority! Also in my book your the joke for coming on here slagging off your fellow supporters for not attending the first 3 games of the season!

I love Leeds united and there great support, but if its a choice between seeing them play every single game or going to fewer games and being with my daughter its a no brainer pal! Also, are you saying peoples voices and opinions count for nothing if they don't attend matches!? Leeds have a very good global following, who, believe it or not don't get to attend matches! How can they tell us anything last time in the space of about sixteen hours they said the ball was in Bates' court all he has to do is sign, then about 4 hours later 'the deal is off' then when the OS sent there statement out they basically rehashed it and said it was back on. They have lost all credibility in my eyes..

Talking to a Blackpool fan at work, he said that Tues was their best performance for 3 seasons.

22 Aug 2012 19:54:07
At the end of the day, we lost against a promotion favourite last night. Listened on the radio and we were up against it for most of the game, we can't complain we lost, a couple of weeks further on and they could have put three/four past us. We're still learning, most players came in half way through pre-season. However, we do lack a pacey player who can put teams on the back foot/take the pressure off. As a st holder, thought we played well against wolves on Saturday and more together than all of last season. Let's not get carried away, not many blackpools in this league and we lost by only one goal, not a landslide. We've a lot to look forward to.

That said, I feel the squad is almost there and it's the next few games against blackburn, cardiff etc that will be the true test. Would be good to have a completed takeover and some added "quality"

Amazing how a lot of our fans fluxuate from how brilliant we are to how terrible and vice versa we are from one game to the next.

Personally I think a lot of the comments all raving about people being negative after the Blackpool game are pretty hypocritical seeing as there was plenty saying we would be promoted after the Wolves game.

1 great performance and 1 terrible performance so far. Hopefully it's the great performances that are the consistent ones only time will tell.

22 Aug 2012 14:49:37
Honestly. Really? I'm reading some of the posts on here and anyone would think we'd been hammered last night by five or six! Saying that I don't think there was this much negativity on here when Preston put seven past us or Forrest put 6 past us?! Why are we always so quick to put the team and manager down? We've played two games! The performance on Saturday was inspired considering the team have been together two minutes and the lack of flair we have in the side. One of the things that has cost us in previous seasons is the lack of ability in holding the ball up to release pressure on the defence. Becchio has his moments but does tend to go down to quickly rather than hold the ball up and do his job. Don't get me wrong I would fancy him 9/10 to get a goal with his head in the box and he is damn good at it but other than that offers little else to the team. Why do you think Warnock is after another striker? Do you think he would drop McCormack or push him out wide when he's already spoken of his importance and caved to his demands regarding his contract?! Read his comments about last night and after Saturday in regards to Becchio.

Anyway on watching the game last night there are very few teams that play the way Blackpool play and get behind the defence. We were in front for an hour and it was only two bits of poor defence that cost us. Compare to last season when Blackpool did us twice with an aggregate score of 6-0 it's not too bad!

Chin up boys lets wait till were ten games or so into the season and the table has started to take shape before we talk of promotion or relegation. Either way I will be say home and away because I'm Leeds. I will support any player who wears the shirt and any manger who takes on the challenge at our great club.

I think byram should stay at right back. Imo I dont think lees is fully upto it. Id prefer to keep the same back four which started against wolves if green injured put.white.on the wing and put drury left back

Believable6 Unbelievable4

White is league one quality at best. Cannot see anything in him other than a bit of pace.

Totally agree, White has bags of pace but lacks being able to read players and the game.

I disagree, i think it may be too much too soon for byram. he has a promising future but hes just not ready, the two goals came from his side last night. peltier rb, lees pearce and drury

Most of the top clubs have added to there squads with good players available, I do not think that Macormack and Becchio are prolific enough to give us the goals we need and also we lack pass up front, after last nights game with the few chances it is a little worrying.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Mccormack isnt prolific enough? Of all the players that are currently still in the championship he was top scorer last season, what do you expect us to sign someone who was top scorer in prem or la liga instead keep your feet on the ground please.

22 Aug 2012 11:00:02
People people! Why are now claiming we are not good enough to stay up/were gonna struggle. Yesterday we played the best team in the championship for f**** sake. We lost 2-1 not 5-0. God like u lot expected a win away to Blackpool. A draw would be a bonus . You can't expect 3 points all the time. Ye maybe 3 at Peterborough or Ipswich but not blackpool I mean cum'on!
More than Half the teams in this league will lose to Blackpool away, it's when we start losing to Peterborough etc, that when we get scared. I'm beginning to think u people were thinking we were going to have an unbeaten record this season. We payed less than 2 mill for eleven Players were going to lose at least some games. Plus the 11 players we have haven't had 11 weeks to gel you mind the 2/3 years Blackpool have.

So Cool and calm cus Blackpool will be there for automatic promotion this season if not close. Jesus!

One defeat to a very good
championship team. Leeds are
much better than last year and I
saw just about all the games. Its a
solid but not spectacular outfit
which has only been together for a
short time. It will improve. Just a
couple of reservations. If Drury is
fit and is still (or nearly) as good as
when he was at Norwich why isn't
he playing at left back rather than
being on the bench. If he isn't good
enough why did we sign him. Aidy
White is still very suspect at left
back and isn't comfortable wide
right. Potential for the future
though. Byrom is an excellent
prospect but perhaps he has come
too far too quickly. Therefore why
play Peltier out of position at left
back when Drury is on the bench
and expose the young lad to the
quality of Blackpool this early in his
career especially since Neil had him
down to be loaned out only a few
weeks ago. In addition when Aidy
had a bit of a shaky start at left
back did him just find him another
spot in the team. He wasn't that
brilliant in that position last season. There must have been a better alternative.
Again he will improve. We still need
pace going forward and a creative
midfielder if we are are going to be serious contenders. Main thing though
there has been a big improvement
in a relatively short period of time.
Still a good start.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Agree with you in general but exposing Byram to blackpool this early in his career is irrelevant. You dont learn how to play against players like ince and phillips by playing against average U18 players, its a learning curve for him and its the only way you can learn to play at this level.

Cannot understand why you have 5 disagrees and 3 agrees. Your point is spot on we beat Wolves who will be up there and won 2-0 i think on tuesday (yes against Barnsley i believe) but they beat middlesborough on saturday didnt they? another team everyone is expecting to be up there. I didn't expect even a point at Blackpool it will be a very hard place to go for any team this season. You have to accept that we will lose games as only Blackpool have a 100% record and thats after 2 games shows how close this league is. On the other hand if we get on a good run when they league is this tight anything is possible. MOT

Thats it, the relegation trapdoor has opened and were circling it already. I mean we've now lost 50% of our league games this season thats not good enough and Warnock should be sacked. Or in the real world, we have played two games and made a solid start, it's not like we lost both. Yes last night showed that we could do with some creativity and someone who can hold a ball up but still a good start.

Believable16 Unbelievable2

22 Aug 2012 00:55:07
We are not going to get relegated! Jesus Christ we have played 2 games! We couldn't of harder a much harder start fixtures wise, we need attacking players but stop bring so negative after 1 loss no one died

Believable10 Unbelievable8

Works both ways though - everyone was full of joy about the Wolves result; convinced we were going up and that Warnock was the Messiah. It's like this after every game.

It's a long season and neither of these results means too much at this stage. Personally I stand by what I've said all along this pre-season. I think we'll be much harder to beat this time round but we'll struggle to score goals against good teams unless we can bring in 2-3 flair players before the window closes. I also think we're only an injury or two away from being a poor team - that's to say we lack depth in the squad.

A bit of perspective wouldn't go amiss - you're right about that - and I don't think we'll play many better teams this campaign than we did last night - proper pass and move football.
ML

Agree4 Disagree0

We lost to a side who lets be honest won't be losing many home games this season

Agree2 Disagree0

Really, we all thought we were going up after 1 game... really? We won. Great. THta's it. Nice feeling winning. WE all knew Blackpool was going to be different. But we were one nil up for a good long time. Better than last season. Mistakes were made by all, including WArnock (we have a good , potentially strong back four, let's play them - and in position. And let's not overuse Sam too much. He is a good young player with lots of potential. What's wrong with playing Drury? Why bring on Pugh?) - not to metnion the obvious gaps in our squad, but it's a new team and there's a big learning curve. Give em a wee bit of time and space.

Agree3 Disagree0

Isnt that what being a Leeds fan's about though? And would any of us have it any other way?

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of the day we have played 2 of the top 6 teams in the division imo. The fact that we only lost 2-1 last night shows we are a much tougher nut to crack this year. If I was to estimate how last years team would have done, I reckon we would have lost to Wolves 2-3 and we would have gone down heavily last night, probably at least 4-0. So we would have been bottom now, on 0 points and a goal difference on a par with last year.

But we are not, we are 3 points off the bottom and 1 point from the play offs. Its very early days but I expect we will have more 1-0 matches than the 3-2s, 4-1s, 5-1s and 7-3s we endured last year. We will end up with more points than last season but not sure if we have the depth for promotion, or indeed the play-offs

Lets be realistic and positive and see what the season brings eh?

Warnock is useless? seems to me you dont want to get out the championship then. Because the only thing that Warnock is useless at is staying in the championship or getting relegated from it, because all he ever does is get promoted from it at this level there has never been a better manager... so less of the ridiculous statements. As well with Diouf also been the most quality player on the ball we have. You want to know what to do about being in despair? CHANGE TEAMS if you cant wait for a few weeks for the team to gel and Warnock to get the best out of his players... you're forgetting he did all this on a shoestring budget too and we still look a hell of a lot more likely to get promoted than last year.

Agree1 Disagree0

Jeez! What a drama queen! We lost one match against an established Championship playoff side! It couldn't have been a tougher test for us at the beginning of this season. So we learn from it and we move on. We're a young side, and need time to get to know each other and connect.

What we don't need, 2 matches into the season is a load of negativity clouding the club again. Get behind the team!

Not being funny, but we've been down as far as -15 points in League one (Our lowest point). We haven't been a premiership club for 10 years. We haven't won the top flight in 20 years, and prior to that we spent an age in the lower divisions too.

It's not like we've been constantly challenging for honours in the premiership and old 1st Division for the entire existence of the club.

We have our ups and downs. - Its in the song!

Some football fans (Pompey and Rangers for instance) would be happy just to have a club, so get off the player's backs, get off Warnock's back and chill!

There's a lot of games to go yet, and no doubt some more ups and downs to endure. If you're a Leeds fan, you'll know this, you'll be used to it. It's what makes us such a fantastic club to support.

Isn't that what MOT is all about? - We go "through it all Together".

AND: I don't stab my club in the spine - or the people working hard to make it rise and shine! It all comes down to the word "love" actually! YOU for sure have something to learn mate!

Go on then who would you have as manager allright i didnt like Warnock but he is our manager and I will supporot him and the team, he has had his hand tied who he can buy he will be good for Leeds he will make the players play for him. We will be there or there abouts in May. This is a hard division with some good teams just dont post things slagging them off. I remember first watching Leeds back in the 80 s so I have been through the rubbish as well as the good times just keep the faith mot

everyone brought back to earth now? people were seeing what they wanted to on Saturday, we will not do anything but struggle playing that way the whole year. we desperately need a player or two who can keep the ball and create.
