Just been looking at our squad and its not the worst apart from being short of numbers. There lies the problem. CB, CF, and a winger are badly needed and decent ones at that. We need experienced players for these roles, not so called up an coming players. So can we stop thinking that Poleon is going to come in and get 20 odd goals when we should be happy if he gets 6-8 champ' goals. Still think we can make a challenge as is but will need luck with injuries. For me lose Austin, Thompson, Hall, and either Drury or White.

I dontknow what counting system you use in Ireland these days but the one thing our squad has is numbers its HUGE! Our squad lacks quality and balance eg many left backs but short at centre back loads of central mid but no wide players and a rather impressive collection of "forwards" who don't score goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

That reply was rubbish, mmcormack scores plenty just need 2 replace the rubbish like austin with an actual TEAMPLAYER. we wnt play with wide men this is a new club 4 mcdermott so new formation. defence ain't to bad, byram, lees, peltier, warnock is good just need subs

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2013 11:15:29
Your reply was rubbish dross McCormack scored 8 goals last season if you think that's plenty then you probably think diouf varney smithand hunt will score" plenty"

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats this slating of ross all about can guarentee if he was to leave tomoz all of the fans that said let him go would want him back after a few weeks give the lad a break at least he wants to play for the club

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2013 13:30:22
If he left tomorrow and was replaced with a quality striker all you dross worshippers will realise how average he was!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree if he was sold then replaced with an out and out striker like Austin then that would be good business

There's to many players on Leeds books that aren't good enough for league 2 never mind championship if I was bmd I'd release the likes of kenny, tonge, brown, varney the list goes on and next season start a fresh with young players and get them playing how he wants it doesn't matter about going up next season if it takes 3 seasons to go up with kids it's still going to be better than where we heading

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2013 22:15:00
Interested to hear bmd said Saturdays performance lacked energy how about some kind of link up with an energy drink supplier?

pre season started positively two wins and confidence brimming, the next two matches we did not play badly, and only lost due to dodgy referees. then walsall, well the least said about that the better. however, diabolical springs to mind. Even though the players let us their ultimate employers down, booing will only make it worse. We have too much dead wood that needs to be culled, we all know that so do other teams and thus can drive a hard bargain. We would be better cutting our losses and let them leave for free to free up wages for three quality additions, backed up by some of our academy gems. personally I would get shot of pugh brown norris hall and varney we definately need a commanding centre back, and 20+ striker, byram can be used as a winger and ehd has the skill to make up for lack of pace dawson and poleon won't let us, down,. then to complete the picture we need a midfield general in the bremner mould.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A left winger may do it. I would sell peltier too. He is ok as a backup RB or even a pacey CB.
If we had a LW then Murphy could move into the middle and be the general.
I think we miss diouf with this diamond, plenty of skill with diouf, Murphy and McCormack. With green or Austin in front of the back four we are good to go. Although this I think does require more pace at LB and RB. Bryam fits but is not even training yet. Warnock is the best LB but perhaps does not have the pace for the diamond. Perhaps it suits white but then we would need a really good CB.
With a LW this changes things. I think we would revert to std 442. Would McCormack be played as a striker then or play in the middle with Murphy? Diouf is the best RW we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2013 20:22:15
I agree, the problem is they would not leave for free. We would have to negotiate contract settlements and this would be very expensive due to the number we have that just aren't good enough. I think the best chance we have is to try and loan them out and get the other club to pay as much of their wages as possible which would free up cash for incoming wages. the trouble again is we need someone to want them and at the moment there are no takers. This will hopefully change as we near August 31st but I don't hold out much hope. Our financial situation is well documented which will see any interested party playing hardball. We need investment asap and as someone said earlier, the pleading of poverty by BMC could be a smokescreen to make us more acceptable to whatever Red Bull may have lined up. My opinion on this is that we can stagnate in champ or worse while keeping everything as it is or we could accept investment and maybe a new stadium name and hopefully move forward. The stadium will always be Elland Road regardless of the sign on the wall, I think we should move with the times, come what may we will always be LEEDS UNITED.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccormack will def play as striker he's miles better than any of the rest

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope Warnock gets a managers job again. He will take all of our dead wood off our hands

Really think it was a mistake to let Morison go

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why when he didn't want to be at leeds?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2013 20:22:58
I think the mistake was signing Morison in the first place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt have Hunt or Murphy if he hadnt gone

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it because he scored 2 goals in a pre season friendly had he not scored over the weekend nobody would of said owt

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually would consider selling mccormack if an offer of 4 million came in for him. Even though I do think he is one of best players in the squad. I do think we could get a much better striker and a quality winger. Mccormack is a great player don't get me wrong but 4 million is worth it for a player who only scored 8 goals last season. You can say he played out of position but he missed an awful lot of chances.
Adam le fondre
Charlie Austin
Martij vydra
Marvin emnes
Johnny russel
Marvin sordell
Gary- machay Steven

Agree0 Disagree0

Emnes. Not a bad shout. He could be a ER legend I think. Goals and a workrate always goes down well!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody in their right mind would pay 4 mil for Ross. 2 tops.

Agree0 Disagree0

The day we let morrison go I posted that he would score 20 goals this season if he is fit, Hunt will be lucky to get double figures if he plays every game

Agree0 Disagree0

Not of those names mentioned above are realistic mate why the hell would we want to sell ross he loves the club and under better manager like the mac he will come good

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccormack rw, smith st and for god sake leeds buy marvin emnes lw no better att than that in this league

Agree0 Disagree0

Qpr were willing to pay 3.5 million

Agree0 Disagree0

They are realistic if we sell mccormack. He's the top earner at the club and worth around 3.5 million and if we get that we can get one of those names

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol johnny russell is at derby so keep up plz

The new away kit is disgusting its not gold it's more a coffee colour looks cheap leeds are in a worse state now than 5 years ago

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You're an upbeat and happy kinda kid aren't you

Agree0 Disagree0

In a worst state than 5 years ago, give your head a shek, No Bates No Harvey No Debt, need I go on, the only negative at the moment is lack of funds yet again, but the club is in a far better place and the possibility of major investment still to come. MJB66

New acting ceo appointed Paul Hunt here is what "acting ceo means", "A CEO is a Chief Executive of a company, i. e. the boss. An 'acting' CEO would be someone who is doing the job temporarily until a permanent candidate is found" so it seems hunt is merely keeping the position warm for someone else?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is this paul hunt who took blackburn down? (all opinions welcome)

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2013 19:58:01
Strange how we can find wage but no money for playerss for a new ceo (acting) but no money for players wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

How can a chief executive take a club down the only people that took blackburn are the players that simply didn't perform and clueless owners that didn't think they could get relegated

Agree0 Disagree0

facts are the window is open until aug31st, we might not bring anyone in or we might bring a few in before then, my point is that there is no need to panic over a couple of friendly losses. fair enough we have no cash in the kitty now but we may broker a deal with red bull tomorrow, we just don't know. give them a chance and don't boo our players in friendlies.

deakko7

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There is every need to panic. If we play like last year we will be mid table at best. Losing 3 pre season friendlies (yes I know they are friendlies) doesn't fill anyone with confidence and we still have plonkers like Pugh, Tonge, Varney and Norris getting regular games. We need 3 more in then we might, just might, have a chance, JD

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds won 3 and lost 2 under BMD last season, that's a 60% win rate - if that would have been the stat all season, that would have meant 82 (approx) poinst last year and promotion.

I know its unrealistic and all hypothetical, but I will rate him on his league performances and not his pre-season friendlies. I recall we did a lot better last year in pre-saeson and where did we end up?

At least he is really learning about the team, his players and the tactics employed.

today we are 14th in the championship that's where we going to be or their abouts come end of season if we don't get a striker, winger and a solid cb. LE FONDRE OR AUSTIN, JEROME THOMAS OR MKS, MILLS I know we are not loaded but would add abit of pace and skill to our team. IF it stays the same prepare for a draw at brighton or even worse we lose. tonge, brown, norris, hall, drury, pugh, varneyat least should be shown the door asap, not good enough and filling up the wage bill and stopping us from moving forward, I know some might be hard to get rid of but they must go, and by the way harvey should be gone too

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry 1 exception I think ryan
hall should be given a little vote

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree. varney was quality under brian end of season and I think he would come good

Agree0 Disagree0

With the lack of wingers I would keep hall! Don't think he is great, but he not on huge wages and I think he might surprise a few people this yr.
The others I would drive to a new club myself!

22 Jul 2013 17:23:13
Why did we not use 2 of our exsisting squad eg austin and dawson and leave murphy where he was. We could have used his fee to purchase 2 good wide players. No doubt young murphy is one for the future but a luxury we cannot afford at present. If all this deadwood in the squad is as poor as it seems they should be put on the transfer/loan list as soon as possible and the young players with some good loan signings to help them settle in and the club will be on a sound footing for years to come. There is no point in talking about spending money we do not seem to have and going into debt (again). Put the kids on the pitch with the manager McD who knows how to handle them and give a bit of support and they will not let us down. The rubbish that has gone since we left the premier league is down to structure within the club at the top looking for a quick fix with a crowd of has beens while all our ex young players are playing premier and international footbsll. It is now time to call a halt starting with Sam Byram.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2013 18:06:34
Totally agree! You can't move fir central midfield players at e. r. so why buy another when we've no wingers?

Agree0 Disagree0

Murphy is a far better CM than we have. I think Dawson might complement him but I think he may go on loan, since he has missed preseason through injury.
We needed a decent play maker in CM which leeds have not had for years. This would have been my first choice position to fill so I am glad we did.
A LW is the next priority and if we can free up some resource to do it, that would be great.

Hall for 500k?
Tonge for £300k?
Varney for 700k?
Drury for £250k?!

No way we would get anywhere near that for these players. No one will sign tonge couple of years left on contract and will be on a lot of money. Would keep varney anyway. Hall has played 3 times in a year and we paid less than £500k for him. And Drury? no one will come in for him. Ageing left back. Who honeslty is goni to take Brown, Norris, tonge, drury? no one will, on decent contracts and no one in the championship will want them and league 1 team won't be able to afford their wages {Ed013's Note - I wonder which manager unearthed those gems!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah it really is shocking the players Warnock brought in, I mean tonge still got 2 years left? Grayson played a part aswell, signing Pugh and Brown

Agree0 Disagree0

I think their all quite reasonable. It was only last season michael tonge was in the premier league. I think he has proved to be an average championship midfielder who I think would sell. His goal scoring record isn't bad
Hall maybe 300- 450k depending on interest
Varney wasn't that bad for us as he was hard working but he made countless mistakes, dived and got booked far too often but a team would definatley buy him for 500- 700k
Drury is quite old so 100- 200k he would get sold for

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't make a profit on any of them, freebies getting wages off the books.

Agree0 Disagree0

NO! who would want them? you forget the wages there on aswell. Tonge never palyed in the premiership, barnsley turned him down for god sake! We should have a lot better. About time we go players who have a sell on value. Look at Murphy, even if he plays poorly this season, someone will come in a sign him for a million. Norris has had a poor season and no wants him because he's over 30 and past it. Suffering due to Warnock short term ideolgy.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what happens when you are given a one year contract and no money to spend. He had to buy players who he had worked with, who he thought could have that fight and passion in them. Sadly they didn't. He was never going to sign players for the future. They wouldn't get us up. This is all because of bates. And now were stuck with them

The new away kit is apsoutally class I can't wait to get it but I don't know who to get on the back of it because anytime I get a player they are sold. I got Becchio gradel on shirts before and now there no good I might get murphy but I won't get byram just incase he goes.

Please please can we get a new kit provider. The new away kits minting.
Adidas please.

White. blue outer. One yellow inner adidas strip down sleeve.
Yellow kit. Blue adidas stripe down sleeve. Job done.

Nice kit but I'm no Gok Wan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It doesn't even look like Gold - it looks more like a chintzy version hearing aid beige.

I'd like Puma or Nike back like the good old days, when we had Packard Bell then Strongbow

Agree0 Disagree0

The new away kit is so much nicer than the black ones we've had.
It doesn't really matter what the team play in as long as they play well in it!
Thumbs up though for the new un!

We used to aspire to Real Madrids standard, look at their new Adidas kit. it is simple class.
Macron is a emerging kit provider that is better suited to lower level teams. We would buy more merchandice if the product was quality.

We deserve better.

Adidas.

Steve.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nike is the best their shirts are nice and simple I can imagine us in a plain white one like it should be.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I said as much when GFH first bought the club and will say it now again. Our kits have been horrible and Adidas/Nike should be where we're looking at if we want to look like a top club again NOT macron

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jul 2013 12:18:32
new away strip is terrible. Few seasons ago Macron brought out the black glow in the dark one and now this top. I think the song went blue yellow and white football in a yorkshire rose, not black gold and sh*te!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think it is terrible. Its not as bad as the home one, that's terrible! Apart from the blue shoulders its a bit close to white, could it be confused by a white shirt in the sun and a quick glace. Perhaps this is a new tactic, blame the shirt when we next get hammered.

Agree0 Disagree0

If as bmd says we have to sell before anyone comes in then i'd certainly look at mccormack. not that i'm saying he's not wanted but he hasn't been great and any striker that can't get in a scotland team there's something wrong. i'd bring in le fondre or lambert over him all day long.
We are still nowhere near strong enough to go up.
Seriously whos going to score 20 + goals.
Smith good potential but prob sub alot.
Hopefully some investment might turn up for bmd first.
Shrew leeds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mccormack scored 19 goals season before last and offers much more than just goal scoring and probably the most loyal player at the club and you think let's sell him.

Not been funny but you all moan when players leave for other clubs and show 'no loyalty' for me it is a two way street why should they be loyal when you want them out the door as soon as they get dropped to the wing so don't score as many goals as you expect because they were played out of position, and even then they were one of our biggest threats and creative sparks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes one of our best players. Do you ever go to ER? If so you must notice his overall game rather than just his goal record, which isn't bad either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh, and if he doesn't score goals, he can at least get rid of some Warnock's rubbish from last summer, he's a fly tipping expert!

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster.
My point was we won't get rid of the dross. we could end up selling a decent player. i'd rather keep lees and byram.
Ross is decent but I just think him and hunt are same type. We need a top finisher. Yes he scored 19 but as u saidseason before last.

It's hard to be positive when u have been through what we've been through and then we are taken over by a group who have probably less money than whom they biught the club from (master bates). So far pre season is very worrying and looking at the squad even though I'm a humble Shopfitter I can see that we have very very few goals in this group of players and a leaky defence with apparently our only prospect of adding to the squad is if we can somehow find someone out there stupid enough to take one of our donkeys. I have total faith in bmcd but his hands are well and truly tied I'm afraid that if we don't get major investment soon then it's gunna be a long hard season!

Ed please give an update on the red bull situation? Also Saer Sene the French forward for New England revolution is going to be announced as a signing on the 27th of July {Ed013's Note - Red Bull investment/sponsorship is in the pipeline, to what extent I am unsure. It could be for the purchase of Elland Road which I believe is close or could just be a shirt sponsor, but all investment is potentially good}
