Just catching up with the banter I think redders is his own man and if he feels he needs a crack at managing I think he would go but I think he also likes the freedom of running academy and the respect he gets

Believable0 Unbelievable0

PW I agree with the above. I can't see NR moving on for any management job because let's face it Dave Hockaday has better experience and better stats that NR.

NR with no trainer licence(happy to be corrected on this)

and a win ratio of 23.9% take away the last 3 games he was in charge and it goes to 17.7% they truly are shocking. He needs to stay where he is get some coaching qualifications. I think he knows his limitations and when MC spoke to him about the job wasnt 100% convinced he could do it himself. Probably why he didn't get the job.

And before everyone jumps on me saying he is doing a great job at the academy its not the same as managing a championship side and you know it. Christ I had a PE teacher who managed to get the under 11's to a regional final one year, I wouldn't want him coaching LUFC either.

lufc you are spot on, sitting in for a couple of games not the same as managing the squad.

Dear Eds,
Yes, I am ready to meet a charming Russian and chat free, but can you make it Abramovich please because I am a bit skint. Thanking you in anticipation.

I'm sure we all had a little chuckle at this from the ads all over the place, although I get cougars not Russians Damn it.

We'll talking to my player friend this morning and ALL MCs signings are on the same wages, yes they get bonuses for scoring goals, clean sheets, winning etc but the bonus is shared bewteen all the players. Also they have been promised tripled wages if they reach the prem league.
Smart way to get the players to respect each other and NO jealousy/anamosity in the ranks IMO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Like it 👍

Simple and brilliant Andy! Trouble is, in these times of greed, its getting players to agree which js where Massimo is a genius. Too many get paid mega money whether they play good bad or indifferent or sit on the bench, because whatever the result they are on £300K a week, no incentive what so ever

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds good to me Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive always thought pay should be performance related. Great the way mc does it. Warnocks and mcds team should have had 50% of their wages docked most of time.

Good in theory but maybe not in practice as it seems a bit communist to me. Are you suggesting Taylor and Ajose are on same basic as our new star strikers? Find this hard to believe. Also statement on bonus getting shared, I do not understand do you mean the bonuses get shared as in one player scores and this gets passed around? I hope and believe MR C has given a lower basic with performance based bonuses but not everyone on the same basic. I just do not see how this could work at any club and what about the players here before? Would this not cause a rift?

What does Pearce offer to the team? Surely we have better options at the club for capt and centre half? After watching him play imo he can't leap to head a ball without climbing all over his opponents back, every time he goes up for a corner he usually gets pulled up for this! he can't pass the ball, can't read the game, most of his tackles are last ditch and rash, because of this! he's so slow, I've seen milk turn quicker! I've read comments that he's strong? so was Geoff Capes and he couldn't play football either!

Massimo Cellini is having none of that racism stuff. (Radio 5 live)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great to hear him defend Bellusci but equally great to hear him talk tough on racism. Seems we have an owner who knows how to play the game. Wonder if he will be given as many inches in the papers as Jerone got? Also would Jerone get finned and banned if his accusation if proven false?. Again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cellino. Thanks predictive text. No doubt the Daily Snail will be on to this in the morning.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems its one persons word against another and both say Bellusci spoke Italian. How can anything be proved? IF Bellusci said negro, well, is it racist, it was a word Martin Luther King used to describe himself and means of African origin, but I would imagine there are a few Italian words that sound similar!

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2014 19:29:02
I'm pretty sure negro is the word Luis Suarez used and got a hefty ban? I could be wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

It was Luke. Not sure if it's a word I would really think of as being racist - but maybe I'm out of touch, and I guess its as much the sentiment as the words said

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez used the word negrito which is south american slang its suprisingly enough a term of endermeant in south america basically means black friend

So general thoughts on team selection at norwich was a fair choice.
So how come stats had us being battered by a out of form team?
Ive watched 2 out of last 4 games and I was reasonably impressed with performance and ability. I know a point at norwich is acceptable but why such a battering?
General or should I say my opinion is one winger and regular striker is all we need, but also think we should handle teams like norwich and rotherham better.
Its almost like every team we play exposes another weakness in our team.
Tired and confused and probably talking b. Myself now.
Soooo
Im off to bed!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Ausman

i agree with some of your post we do seem to beg pressure when we shouldn't be. However let's just remember we were playing Norwich at Carrow Rd in form or not they came down from the PL have some very talented players and are way above us on points showing that in form or not they can play and win.

I would prefer not to think of this as 2 points lost and battered to death but I would say we soaked up immense pressure from one of the title contenders and came away with a massive point. GG for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ausman
Im pretty confused with it too!
I guess i'm trying to work out what our game plans are.
Trying to work out why we took points with redders in charge but we've took a few steps backwards if results are to be believed in recent games.
Dont get me wrong a point at norwich all day long but watching the bbc sport page just had us doing nowt only trying to stop the roof caving in.
Rollercoaster ride I guess, I've never enjoyed em.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Trev, it's not the total answer but I do think what luck there was going went to us more with Redders than since Darko joined. My main worry is that we just haven't been creating enough chances all season, and that doesn't seem to be improving yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, You allways need a bit of luck speedyg.

I guess we got the luck against the canaries the same luck that deserted us against the windies mate ;)

Change of tactics gave us the goal according to the coach, shifting from midfield diamond to pushing adryan and duke out either side of ant lucy giving us 3 attackers.
The dark lord also saying he wants all 20 players whom they deem good enough for first team to feel part of first team, I get that and I like the sentiment.
Maybe billy sharp back sat in place of injured duke.
So line up for saturday
Silvestre obviously
Byram Cooper Pearce Berardi
Bianchi sloth mowatt1st half cook 2nd
Adryan, ant l, sharp.
Good point last night even if we took a hammering.
MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm quite liking the look of that team

Agree0 Disagree0

That team will get hammered. Cooper and Pearce? Not a good combination. Sharp still a panic buy for me. Not good enough in that team. Mid field has only limited strength and lacks experience, Sloth is not playing at his best by a long way. He can only improve though. The team will only get better playing on a regular basis without to much chopping and changing. I assume that Bellusci (CH) is either injured or syspended similiarly with Doukara.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think belushi needs a rest for a game or two who else can replace the duke?

Missed my first Norwich game for many a year and can't get a handle on how the game went. The commentary and stats suggest we were battered for the most part and were lucky to get a point. Read in the paper this morning that we went close to scoring a couple of times, Silvestre had a relatively quiet game and the Norwich fans booed their team off at the end. Doesn't stack up. Point is good at carrow Road. In the past we normally get done by the odd goal except when concede a bucket load. Still no win under Darko I expect that will change on Saturday providing the midfield picks up a bit. Still not quite gelled for me;lacking a bit of strength and experience. That will come with time.

Does anyone else think that having Redfearn around is making Darko's job more difficult? It reminds me of the time leading up to Dalglish's return at Liverpool. Everyone else taking over had to live up to his record or the crowd turned.

That only happened because Dalglish was in and around the club constantly, reminding the fans of what he did in the past. Is having Redfearn around doing the same at Leeds?

It seems to me that he should either have got the job or left the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No. I think that's b****cks personally

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - such an intelligent and thought out reply deserves nothing but contempt. Pathetic.}

Its a delicate situation Ed, Redders is far too valuable to lose and I think he has done the right thing in not getting involved with the first team. But I guess Darko must be looking over his shoulder. Maybe Cellino should draw some clear boundaries for now so everyones role is clearly defined. At the moment he insists they are all part of a team, but this is where it becomes a bit grey!

Agree0 Disagree0

I gave a 6 word response. That's an extra 5 words from what I was originally going to say, out of respect for you. I'm not BW. Although I do log on and comment frequently, I do also have a life, and can't be writing an essay or thesis every post

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - except you showed no respect for anyone with that response. It is pointless to even bother responding like that.}

I understand what your saying Ed001 but I don't think you can compare
Dalglish to Redfern. Redfern was only in charge for 4 games and is not a Leeds legend like Kenny at Liverpool. However, I do believe he should stick to the youth team as he wasnt offered the job as 1st team boss and is doing a great job there.

Agree0 Disagree0

OK Ed, I'll take your point that a one word response does not particularly add anything to the discussion - but I am from Yorkshire, so we are not usually prone to using 1000 words when one will suffice! Anyway here are my thoughts about the NR situation:
When MC arrived, got rid of BMcD and publicly stated he wanted a coach and not a manager (and clearly didn't want to pay much), I thought NR was the perfect candidate and thought MC should have tried him then, though there didn't seem to be much clamour from the fans who mostly wanted a big name, and generally wanted experienced managers. Anyway, when the Hock inevitably went Neil was clearly the person to take temporary charge. I was one (of the great majority I think), who thought his stint should be temporary as he does such a fantastic job with the academy. Then of course came the results when he was in charge - and the Huddersfield game in particular which was truly fantastic. The problem was I think, that by then MC was already approaching other coaches and had possibly already even offered Darko the job, and also wanted Neil to keep doing the great job with the academy. So Darko arrived, and I was not unhappy (and still am not - yet). Of course, because results haven't lived up to the 4 games when NR was in charge, many more people have come out of the woodwork to say NR should have been given the permanent job, and are not prepared to give Darko time. I agree with vidlufc and I have posted before that I think NR is being shrewd to distance himself from the first team - he has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing that. If he's still with us when Darko's time is up, he should be the automatic choice for permanent coach. BUT I do think by that time we will have moved on from the point where he can/will return to the academy if thing's don't work out. So, in summary Ed, yes Darko will be looking over his shoulder, as every coach will be under MC - But the suggestion that NR should have left when he wasn't offered the job was the bit I though was b*******. (I can't comment on the comparison with Dalglish at Liverpool, because I don't really remember that scenario)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - now that I can understand. Though I disagree because I was thinking of him going elsewhere as he has stated publicly he wants a manager's role and that is why I feel there is an issue. If he had not mentioned that, then the pressure would have been less and everything would be fine with him working with the youth team. Because he came out and said he wants to be a manager, that is what causes the problems imo.}

Well he will go elsewhere eventually if his time doesn't come soon enough for him at Leeds, but let's have a reality check Ed - there's nowhere he can go that would be as good as the job he's going to get here if he bides his time. Why settle for 2nd or 3rd best :)?
But I would imagine any problems for Darko are more likely coming from MC sticking his nose into the team selection rather than NR advising him which of our many young jewels can step into the first team next lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I should point out, I don't see Redfearn himself as the issue, just what he said. As soon as there are a run of poor results, the fans will begin calling for him.}

Well I would totally agree with that, except. MC is even more impatient than the fans, so I'm guessing he would have wielded the axe before the chanting starts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - good point.}

.And if Redders had said no I don't want to manage, Cellino would probably have taken him at his word and overlooked him next time. I guess he had to throw his hat in the ring and show ambition. Just remember its only those 4 matches everyone is basing an opinion on, when he took temporary charge I posted he could be the right man at the right time and many many people did not want him because of the previous results when he twice took the team. Would he have won a fifth, sixth. its all speculation, who knows. let's just go from that we have a good man in the background and he may not be needed for a while

Agree0 Disagree0

What I fail to fully comprehend is that so many fans are calling for NR to get the first team job on the strength of only 4 games. I seem to remember that when he's had the temporary role in the past, he hasn't been particularly successful, so why do we all want him now?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I for one don't want him now. I hope Darko is still with us in 5 or 6 years time - because that will mean he's got us into the champions league. NR will have moved on to be a manager somewhere and we will have a new academy manager at the new elland road academy

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you may get your wish Speedy. My reasons for thinking that Redders was the best option at the time was that as youth manager he was accustomed to taking fresh new and young talent and moulding it into a team, we had lots of all the afore mentioned in the first team! Also he had the best knowledge of all our players, that incubation period is past and Darko knows a lot more about everything now. Redders could have been involved a lot more but credit to him he has stepped back and let Darko get on with it, so I think Darko has to be supported, he is not a million miles away, a couple of wins and see us blossom

Well done Andy enjoy your winnings and glad to see some one is keeping faith in Doukara when some are slagging him of after a couple of quiet games. Still think sloth should be in their at the side of Bianchi to give him a bit more freedom on the ball. Mowatt and Austin together don't quite cut it for me.
