Hypethitical question: if i was to deposit 10mil into colins bank account could he use that for transfers or is there regulations preventing this?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Yer there are some issues but easy to get round.ps if you've got 10 mill spare by shares in Leeds and get rid of bates

Agree1 Disagree2

To be honest id rather buy him outright instead of giving him more money to waste but he over evaluates the club to put of potential suitor who WANT to take the club forward

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm fairly sure it would count as 3rd party ownership of a player such as the tevez/west ham/agent situation which nearly caused Colin and shef u to sue the FA. It also may contravene the new fair play rules , otherwise there will be nothing stopping man city's owners and abramovich just 'gifting' money to the clubs for players, rather than reporting a loss. I would also question whether the FA would look too kindly on 10mil just suddenly appearing in the bank account of a manager, they would possibly be looking at bungs etc if that was to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm still intrested in the club - and have been for a long time.
As i said before bates will sell but only at PL price there are a few consortiums waiting inthe wings but it will never happen.

Sir Phillip

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought there would be something complicated preventing it, but with complications comes loopholes. Ive got to look into this in more depth. Ed do you have an information on this? {Ed013's Note - Give NW 10 million and he will do a runner to Barbados, laughing all the way!!! Seriously though, I imagine there would have to be Solicitors involved and you would have to have a contract stating that the money would be for transfers only and you would have to be involved in it due to money going missing etc and for everything to be above board. Its a little more complicated than just handing over 10 mil, although I wish someone would do it for me! If you invested in the club you would be a legend in the eye's of Leeds fans as it only needs a little tweaking to get this club moving forward again. Also remember, only 6 million can be put forward in the new guidelines. Everything else is to be from profits etc}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed, ill look more into that and see what i decide to do. I would put an offer forward for the club but im not willing to pay 50-60mil for the club when ill have to invest a further 10-12mil for elland road and thorpe arch before i even put money up for players. If bates puts a reasonable price on the club i will put an offer infront of him and take the club back to the pl

mot and keep the faith

Agree1 Disagree0

Ha why has noone else commented on this!

I'd it the half term holidays already? Jog on as if anyone in the world who had enough money to buy Leeds would come on a rumours site and ask the ed for advice!

If bates ain't gonna support nw, I hope nw walks......then for the first time all whites will be united against bates and we can start a real revolution

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Yeah cos its more important to stir the s-it than support the team, why dont you wait and see what side well have before all this bolshy crap,NW knew the restrictions he would be under and nothings changed, theres loads of reasons players dont sign other than money, still lets just protest all the time and put even more players off coming, pathetic.

Emile Heskey released by Aston Villa today, would be better then Jason Roberts was in the championship get him in a Leeds shirt!

It's kills me to say but i can see this summer will be like last full of promise but that's it. I really hope NW is given the funds and backing he wants. Bates is a business man so expect average players who will play for low wages. I love Leeds and I will hope I am wrong but I can't see big signings!

Believable7 Unbelievable5

I have said before and i will say again..KB will not buy anybody else until he gets the cash for Snoddy etc.

We're Leeds fans aren't you use to it by now? All we've had since the fall from grace is lies.

Please, please go to one of the other clubs Joel Ward.
As a footballer I hold you in high regard but........
While I can understand that it is a big decision for you to decide where you want to go, you obviously don't care a jot about the fact you're crippling your current club. They are currently struggling to pay your wages whilst you hold out for a better deal and receive money for nothing, from a team crippled in debt, desperate to stay afloat & desperate to sell you. Every day you wait damages a decent club with supporters that love their club as much as we love ours.
Jog on mate, it will always be about Joel Ward & not Leeds Utd that come first to you.
I'm sure there's there's plenty of players heading to or currently in league 1 that would jump at the chance of playing for us.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Don't really think its down to jw and none of us really know what is happening behind the scenes so have faith if he joins he joins if he doesn't then are ambitions as a club are there for all to see and nw won't be around for long

Agree3 Disagree0

I fully agree with the OP, it doesn't matter which club you belong to players have no thought for the club their draining whilst in financial difficulty.

Agree0 Disagree1

So what your saying is the player should take it in the pocket and just take a deal to save the club hes leaving . not a chance they have to get the best deal possible ,its not his fault they are in the situation they are in so he should take is time and chose right

Agree2 Disagree0

If your company that you work for went bust would you then work for nothing for 2 months I no I wouldn't plus they are getting the best price by letting all 8 teams go after him and starting a bidding war cone on ward sign up

Everyone who is nervous at the fact Leeds arent signing anyone should remember there is no need to rush because there is 2 months till the window closes.
In Warnock we trust(also remember Bates saved the club)

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Its not the fact we are not signing anybody that is bothering me, its the fact that we don't seem to have any money to buy anybody until one of our players is sold and even then will warnock be given the money?

Agree5 Disagree2

Bates did not save the club - he put it into administration and cost us 15 points. He's destroying the club.

Agree7 Disagree5

We have money otherwise Warnock would have walked (probably not a lot compared to some teams though).
I suspect Ward is insisting on going to Leeds and Bates is turning the screw on Pompey trying to pay as little up front, knowing the exact position that they are in, having been there ourselves.
Would be good business for us if this is the case but it definitely leaves a bad taste in the mouth knowing how it feels as a club on the receiving end.

Agree5 Disagree2

Yes but the team needs to gel otherwise we'll ahve a slow start to the seasona nd who wants that? thats why so many of us were getting our hopes up for quick moment in the marketet because it isnt something weve had for a long time

Agree0 Disagree1

Let's juts hope Bates is bluffing because he knows players and agents will hold us to ransom....sadly I fear that I'll be mistaken and its just bates' typical patterns again

Agree3 Disagree1

Bates did in a way save the club but not at his own expense ,bates bought the club then sold all assets then he paid himself the money back that he bought the club for and then went into administration simple as that .bates as never put any of his own money into leeds united . the way he sees it is that hes always going to make enough money weather he spends or doesn't

23 May 2012 19:53:41
why is everyone panicking, its only May, yes bloody May, theres 10 weeks at least to go before the season kicks off, i know we should have players in by the begining of July so they can blend together as a side. but as i say its only May, we have made one signing and a good one at that, not many teams in the championship have bought anyone yet!! lets judge Bates and his purse string in August, now calm down and take a few chill pills for the next 4/5 weeks

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Not many teams are willing to let there best players leave either

How about, let's boycott and destroy our club.... Naaaa
Ken bates is a wan..... And Larry great, out with Colin... Naaaa...

OR....

We have a good manager, we are solvent, it's May, financial rules apply this year, we have 30,000 great fans, a great stadium with atmosphere, an academy and young kids to come though that PL clubs would I for, rich pickings to come transfer wise in June and all we are missing now is a bit of f@@@ing belief and trust.... We will get there so apart mot and one or two others the rest of you, patience, and trust. Chill and enjoy the euros this summer, our signings in June, our destruction of teams in friendlies in July and a great start in August with Neil in charge. Come next February, laugh at Leicester and the other mugs carrying the buckts outside their grounds as their skint and mid table. I'm no bates fan but even less of a ridsdale "living the dream" numpty. I want to support Leeds for another forty years of my life. Get behind the club or stop watching/supporting.

I was told by a Contact who I respect, (in betting circles) to pile money on Warnock resigning be4 season starts.I have had many winers off him on the gee gees, not as much football but he wouldn't have put me on to it if he hadn't had inside info.I for one will be gutted if it happens. But if it dose and I believe it will,Bates should be hounded at least until the world stops going round ,or even better until he checks into a retirement home, nerves jangling and Un able to wipe is own ars!

Believable5 Unbelievable7

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" bates buys leeds 10m-appoints blackwell, he stabalised club with free transfers and low wages, 04/05 leeds finish half in the championship. that season started the trend of the exodus of some outstanding youn players (milner, lennon etc, etc) for absolute peanuts. by 07/10 decline ended up in third tier of english football. Bates model (last season sells good young talent) as for the future, we will turn full circle back in the third tier. should you be reading this ken bates for all our tomorrows speculate to accumulate with NW and a couple of million he could do it....Then sell (I would like to have wrote something else here, but i think ed would bin it)

Agree7 Disagree0

I'd have binned it anyway. Utter rubbish, go support city or Chelsea. All you want to see is loads of money spent. Support your club!

Agree2 Disagree8

Supporting your club and mindlessly believing the Bates propaganda are not the same thing. Listen to what Snoddy and Warnock are saying. All is not rosy et ER and TRUE supporters are very worried for our future.

Agree4 Disagree1

We will sell snoddy ,mccormack and clayton and receive a fee for white bringing in about 10 mil . we will then sign players for up to 300 k with wages of 7k pw making bates very happy

Agree1 Disagree5

10 million? Dream on.....

Agree2 Disagree1

To be fair were going to end up back like the mid 80's - crap championship squad, little progress towards prem and crowds down to 9,000 (with Bates prices especially). Does he not realise he won't keep the fans forever.
Before anyone starts I'll still keep going and have already renewed my membership this season.
M.O.T. bk to the premiership

Agree0 Disagree0

We will be lucky if we get £3m

Agree0 Disagree2

Simply because you have a negative opinion regarding someone at the club or certain operations doesnt mean you dont back Leeds, and you arent a true leeds fan. These fans want whats best for the club thats why theyre airing their worries, they are still sticking by the club even when theyve have been disappointed in the past or possibly at present. So please stop all this go and support another team rubbish!! They pay their money and they have a right to vent their frustrations, it doesnt make them any less of a fan because they dont swallow everything that happens at leeds, these people come and go the fans remain remember that...even if they arent happy about everything!!

Agree3 Disagree0

We will get 4 to 6 mil for snoddy 1.5 mil for white 2.5 mil for mccormack and 1.5-2.5 mil clayton so best part of 10 mil so i wont dream on

Agree0 Disagree0

We will not get more than £2.5-£3m for Snoddy, White would only command a nominal fee, maybe £1.5m for Mcormack and no more than £1m for Clayton. If we sell them as they could hold on and walk for free. As a best target for all of them we would be lucky to see £6m total.

I own a fish shop in Garforth and a regular customer of mine is Paul Connolly. He comes in every week so we always have a chat.

Just before he jetted off on his hols he told me Snodgrass is 100% leaving and has no chance of staying. Where he is going he does not know. He told me he is not the most popular in the dressing room so wont be missed in that respect.

He also said that if huddersfield stay in League 1 his agent is trying to get him to link back up with Grayson for a minimal fee as he is settled in West Yorkshire.
He also thinks Paynter (they are best buds) is probably off back to Swindon if they can agree a deal with Leeds.

Expect developments mid June, you heard it here first.

Pog LUFC {Ed013's Note - So after Simon Grayson made Connolly a scape goat for the Barnsley defeat saying he will never play for Leeds again, he will go back and join him at another club? I very much doubt it}

I have been a huge fan all my life - ups & downs. Supporting Leeds is a rollercoaster of a ride and i love it.
Lets not forget guys, its still only May. I know Warnock wanted 3 or 4 in before end of May but lets be honest, all footballers want a break and to weigh up all offers. They are usually tied to a club for 3 to 5 years. Not overnight stuff. Stop bloody moaning and sit back and wait for Neil to assemble our team. Im sure it will look very different next season. We need to get behind him and the team and play our part in getting back to the promised land! MOT

if the rumours are ture about not having the money to buy ward - why the hell as bates let NW come out and say most of the squad will be leaving when we are clearly going to need them.

Sorry to say but the chants will continue next season..... BATES OUT

Believable7 Unbelievable7

"Currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth."
That is the dictionary definition of the word RUMOUR.
Pull yourself together man, try a bit of optimism for once. Until these rumours are founded in truth then shut the f*** up with the Bates out rants. I dont agree with the guy and i dont like the guy but you 'morons' had such a detrimental affect on the atmosphere AND the players at ER last season. Get over yourself.
M

Agree11 Disagree8

Yeah lets start chanting again like last year and create an absolute s**te atmosphere for players and fans alike,Bates doesnt give a rats arse about your protests, but it certainly affects the players and probably future signings,to protest during the match is ridiculous,we need to get behind the team choose what, and all this Bates out crap again before we know what the team for next season will be,give em a chance and wait and see.

Origainal poster,

Just to make it clear i never have and never will chant bates out - i would love nothing more to see the back of him but i agree i will not help our club get back were we belong.

am i right in thinking that we would still only be paying 4p in the pound if we went up but a one off payment of 4.75mill? if that is the case and the payday of getting there is 90 mill then bates is one terrible businessman not backing warnock and i mean if he dont by august, not now

Believable6 Unbelievable0

23 May 2012 14:16:36
What's going off this summer with big name players been released. Leeds seem to have made it clear that they don't have the cash available to buy big names so this season is where we can bring in half dozen players on free transfers (I know that some of these guys will want decent wages but if we are going to go for it next season and challenge for promotion we need to pay up)

people released as of now... Emile Heskey, Ivan Klasnic, Nigel Reo Coker, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Owen, Papa Bouba Diop, Fitz Hall, Danny Shittu, Nickey Shorey, Craig Gordon, Manual Almunia, Lomana Lua Lua, Sean Davis, Abdalou Faye, John Carew, Darius Vassell, Ricardo Gardner, Danny Gabbidon, Carlos Cuellar, Zat Whitbread, James McFadden, Robbie Blake... the list just goes on and on. I realise that a high percentage of these players are 30+ but they have the experience to get us out of this division and back in the big time.

Is it just me that thinks out of the list of players alone I have mentioned (and I'm sure there must be atleast another 20 available and it's not even June) a strong Championship squad could be formed who would be more than capable of winning it next season?? {Ed013's Note - How do you know that its not a tactical move by Leeds saying they cant afford various players? Let me explain, if like Leicester you are known to have a lot of cash, then agents and even clubs will expect more money from you and push you for as much as you will go. By declaring that you cant afford, lets say a million, then people may not take you for mugs. NW knows what he has available and why should he shout about it. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing otherwise I am sure he would walk away. I wouldn't want Leeds to be held to ransom and pay over the odds for a player, so if Ipswich offer more than so be it. There is a lot of available players and it is early days and like you say with whats free could make you a very strong team, but will bring more expensive wages due to not demanding a transfer fee. Just a thought}

Believable13 Unbelievable0

Wel said ED

Agree9 Disagree0

That said, ED, if our worst fears are true, and this isn't a clever tactical move (and if ward doesnt come, as seems to be the case, then it's a pretty poor tactic) - and all the sales money from Howson, Delph, Gradel etc is no longer available - our main players are gonna run, to be replaced - as usual, by inferior players. And the only way we can really protest is by keeping away from the games. Bates , obviously, bought into the club because he knows it's at stupidly loyal fan base, he can do whatever he feels like and people will still buy their season tickets - he will still make money which he can squander on investments from which he is the sole beneficiary. When he calls Leeds fans 'Morons' - I believe this is what he means - our loyalty is almost laughable considering his actions. So I would say, fine people, next season - if this if the situation is as dire as it is now, hold off getting your season tickets, folks. If they dont sell, he will see he isnt getting away with it anymore. And he will sell the club. I hope I'm wrong in this but i am fearing the worst. If 5 - 10,000 season ticket regulars signed a petition saying they arent going to pay for their season ticket till they see money been put forward for players , the status quo will soon shift. Daniel Archway {Ed013's Note - Its just a theory mate and I fully understand why fans are acting in the way they are, but regarding the Ward deal, Leeds have had their bid accepted and terms are on the table. If he doesn't want to come then there is nothing anyone can do. If he stays down south its nothing to do with Leeds not offering him enough money as Portsmouth have already said we have offered him more than he is getting, it will be because he wants to be nearer his family and community commitments. Signing petitions is understandable to a certain degree, but not yet as its very early days and you have to see how the summer goes. I have already paid for my season ticket as have many others so a lot more thought would be needed in how you did it. I have to say, try and keep the faith and Neil knows what he has to work with and he is very good at what he does}

Agree3 Disagree1

(original poster again)

I hope your right Ed, I agree that NW knows what he is doing and is very good at his job otherwise we wouldn't have him as manager. I can't believe I'm going to say this but "I believe Ken Bates when he says that he will make funds available to NW to bring in the players we need to mount a serious promotion challenge this season. We wouldn't of released the amount of players we have already if we wasn't prepared to bring in new faces. As it stands now we don't have enough squad members to put a starting 11 together so us Leeds fans must stick by our club and see where we are come August before we start to worry. {Ed013's Note - Your right mate, Ken will sanction moves and pay transfer fee's but he won't be held to ransom. I fully understand that he doesn't want the burden of paying new players wages whilst they are away chilling out before they have even had a training session with the club. Can you imagine if you was a business manager looking for new staff and you were employing people, but they demanded to be paid right away whilst they go on a 6 week holiday! I wouldn't pay them! Lets not forget we have just paid half a million for a very promising young lad and I am very sure more like him will follow}

Agree0 Disagree2

That's the one thing i have faith in - that Warnock wants the team to be succesful. The petition idea / season ticket stalling, I am suggesting collectively taking action if we find ourselves in the same position next renewal. Hopefully, this wont be the case.

Why is Ken bates so short sighted? Say he spent £4 mil this summer bring in 5 or 6 decent players to make leeds competitive. This would attract more people to come to elland road thereby increasing the average attendance. If the average attendance was to rise by 6000 people each payin say on average £25 for a ticket that equates to just under £3.5m more from the gates alone. this doesnt include the increase in sales of programmes, pies, beer and all that. Makes no sense that he alienates himself from the fans and loses that money

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Not true - leeds fans still buy their tickets whatever he does. He loves your loyalty, does Ken.

Agree0 Disagree4

Well it is true we had average attendance of 27k in League one last year was probably closer to 21k = 6k tickets gone

Agree1 Disagree0

He is still making money from that an not investing anything. Suppose, as would be the case in ken's mind, he sticks 4 of his 30 million wealth into Leeds and they nissfire. Wages would be higher, similar bates hating depleted attendance figures and he would have spent the money. As with most investments, better play safe and have it ticking over into his pockets than take any risks spending his own nest egg.

Paynter + 200k for Ward? Sure Bates would fund this if he were moaning about paying more?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Portsmouth need cash, not more liabilities....

Agree6 Disagree1

To the second poster, after losing so many of their players, dont you think that portsmouth are going to need at least a few to replenish the ranks? Its not like they cam buy any players so a deal involving obtaining player without a cost would be a great relief for them and plus theyve already stated their interest in paynter. MOT

I am the second poster, and it was supposed to be a bit tongue in cheek. BUT, I am sure they need around £400k for Ward, with or without Paynter thrown in...??

Something slightly different - a worst ever Leeds team from the last twenty years:

GK: Rachbuka
RB: Kerslake
LB: Robertson
CB: Roque Junior
CB: Bruce
LM: Burns
CM: Okon
RM: Cadamarteri
F: Brolin
F: Ricketts
F: Joachim

Honorary Manager: Palmer

Relegated by Bonfire Night! {Ed037's Note - Wouldn;t put Bruce in there}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Surely theres a place for Nigel Worthington - I remember being at an away game at Middlesboro when he commmitted a cynical foul on the half way line when all Leeds fans sang OFF, OFF, OFF!(including me)

Loads of centre backs have been worse than Alex Bruce, very unfair. personal nomination is Butler, purely because he was also a captain.

The problem with Okon was not his lack of ability, it was that Batty and Dacourt were solid the season before, and El Tel thoguht it would be a good idea not to play the heart of our team because he didn't perform in training!

Liam Dickinson upfront !

There should always be places in worst Leeds teams for David Lucas, Paul Butler, Paul Telfer, Ian Westlake, Ben Parker, Liam Dickinson & Billy Paynter. Manager - Kevin Blamewell.

Agree4 Disagree1

Ben Parker!? Before the injuries hit he was a decent LB

Agree2 Disagree1

What about Bessone. There are far worse players than Bruce. He was awesome at the Emirates. Prone to one or two errrs. Had a bit of pace - Beckford couldn't lose him in that respect.

Agree2 Disagree0

Michael Duberry has to be in it and also made captain.

My god the list is endless...Lamine Sahko, Derek Lilley, Lubo Michalik, Enoch Shuwumni, Seth '10 games in 4 years' Johnson plus lots more

Ben Parker could never defend, even when fully fit.

Guys/Lasses,

Take away the pull that an agent has and all the tapping up that goes on, have a think about this;

When SG was in charge the training at TA was mostly a laugh and a joke and not a lot went on and I know this as someone I know coaches the kids and he told me that he couldn't believe some of the stuff that was going on. This leads me to think that some of these players wanting out may not want the hard work ahead of them that NW will enforce. Remember, NW has been there a few months now and you could see that the players were knackered. Some people like an easy ride and although White, Mccormack and Snoddy could get a higher wage in the Premier League or with Celtic, there aren't many in the Championship that can due to the new structure coming in and remember we were one of the highest spenders on wages. Just something to think about.

We had one of the highest wage bills in the division because we had a stupidly massive squad, as far as individual contracts go we are only average payers in the league at best. remmember that killkenny went to bristol city because they offered him more money than wed did. our best players could get more money at 6 or 7 other clubs in our division, and that goes for signing new players. most of the clubs who will be aiming for a top 6 place will probably offer better wages to the same players we are chasing. garyd MOT

Yes, the training was so lax and the team were so unfit, that they never managed to score 11 or more goals in last 5 minutes or in injury time to win or draw games. Fast forward to the training under NW, how many late goals did we concede? Players don't leave to get an easier ride, they leave for money or trophies, neither of which are likely currently at ER and we were not one of the highest paid teams, look at Leicester, WHU etc. Lets stop blaming the previous management and lets just focus on supporting the new team and whoever plays in it. I agree with 1st post. If I was offered more money for an easier training regime and life I would be off. Thats why Warnock wants young thirsty players. Some players think the grass is greener on the other side.

Warnock finished 14th after taking Leeds further down the championship than Grayson ever did - Grayson's squad was depleted feeling like Snodgrass does now..!

Are we saying Grayson was a miracle worker.?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Warnock didn't take Leeds anywhere. Imagine where we'd've finished if Grayson had stayed in charge...

Who knows playoffs - ethen maybe not!

The team always has a dip after xmas so I dont think its down to NW

To the people who keep slaggingng off bates saying he had destroyed our club, if it wasn't for bated we would not have a club anymore. Some of you have a short memory.

I'm not that keen on the way he does his business but unless you have the cash to buy him out, Shut up and support your team.

Danny LUFC

Believable8 Unbelievable9

We do support our team, but we are fed up with the lies being told to us all the time

Agree10 Disagree4

What team? we are getting rid of most of them and the ones we do want to stay are off too...

Agree7 Disagree4

Bates lol if not for the fans there would be no Leeds United Bates seen an opportunity to make a killing and went for it if not for the fan bass he would not have looked twins at Leeds its our money that saved Leeds United open your eyes

Bates only concern was the profit he could make out of a fallen club though its fans a opportunity to rip someone off it had nothing at all to do with Leeds United we just there to be taken advantage of

Agree1 Disagree2

Thanks for that Ken, now carry on raping our club

Agree2 Disagree2

Here is a simple reply for the blind fans out there, I agree with original post and am happy to stick up for him, as there are a lot of deluded(Maybe Harsh) fans out there that thinks we can run a club throwing cash around. A board is there to make decisions for the better of the club and some times that will mean not doing what the fans want, but that’s why they are there, if we made decisions we would end up where we were AFTER RISDALE. That’s why Grayson although a great manager was destined to fail, he had Leeds in is heart and scared to succeed, the board are there to make calculated decisions to ensure a steady growth and the future of the club, not a flash in the pan act to end up back in 3rd tier football!

Have paitence and faith - you are having a laugh. we are asked to stump up at the end of jan for next years season ticket at same price, think snoddy summed it up perfectly, why should he believe the things bates is saying to him, when the he was promised the same thing last year, just remind me who have we replaced gradel, johnson howson with?

Agree4 Disagree1

He also threatened to put Leeds outta business....short memories.

Come on Mr Bates, give Warnock the cash to get this club out of the Championship, then you will get your money back and probably more when you sell it on

sell snoddy for 4 to 5 million and get 6 or 7 players

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Will go on the bill for the east stand, his court case and pending dispute with the police authority. not a penny of it would be reinvested in squad as per Gradel, Howson etc
