Please tell me more about this Grayson challenge I'm lost
Russjon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When you stated that he was a 'joke' manager I challenged you to name 5 other managers who have achieved 3 promotions in their first 6 years of management by the age of 42 in the English professional leagues.

By the standards of young managers he has an exceptional record and I think the abuse he gets on here is unfair. Comments like yours shows no respect for him getting us promoted then finishing 7th with the same budget as Warnock has - actually Warnock's had a slightly better budget since the investors are widely thought to have funded a few deals as a gesture of goodwill.

When he went it might have been time for a change, for him as well as us, but that doesn't justify your comments and others like it.

I offered to buy you 5 pints pre-match on Saturday of you could do that by 10am the following day.
ML

Agree0 Disagree4

Bit late as only seen the message this morning but can I claim the 5 free pints instead?
Paul Jewell ( 1 with Bradford & 2 with Wigan between 98 & 04)
Dave Bassett, 3 with Wimbledon between 80 & 85
John Toshack, 3 with Swansea between 77 & 80
Mick Adams (1 each with Fulham, Brighton & Leicester between 96 & 02)
Graham Taylor (1 with lincoln & 3 with Watford between 76 & 80)
There is probably more but you only asked for 5.
Pigface

Agree0 Disagree2

I disagree
He is a poor manager
Kevin Blackwell got us to the championship play off final
He is tosh
Dennis wise got us to play offs when minus 15 points
He is tosh
Grayson may have achieved promotions but no way does that make him anywhere near as good a manager as warnock
What does age matter
How old is di matteo and he won European cup
Warnock a budget was never going to be massive but due to the fact he couldn't shift graysons misfits that impacted on who he could sign due to wage budget
Let's be honest
Grayson had 1 good season when we finished 7th in league
He got us promoted but only just and we had the best squad by a mile in that league and a 12 point lead I think at 1 point
Yes we beat yes we drew with spurs but we also lost to some poor teams
Last season
Leeds v Coventry
We're 1-0 up with 25 mins to go and cruising against a terrible Coventry team
He takes keogh and McCormack off and brings on an unfit becchio and a s##t forsell(his signing)
We get battered for next 25 mins then rachubka(his signing) drops one into our goal and we draw 1-1
That's not inexperience it's bad management
I've never managed a football team but I no that change didn't need making
Russjon

Agree2 Disagree2

I'll be happy to send you my address and ill bet you £500 that we finish higher than Huddersfield
Lets see how much confidence you really have in Grayson over warnock
Russjon

Agree2 Disagree2

Ha ha just noticed someone named 5 get your wallet out!!
Russjon

Agree2 Disagree2

Not sure you should be taking the credit for someone else's work Russjon. However, he hasn't met the challenge - Taylor had been a manager form the age of 27 - that's 8 years before his third promotion - and that's the only one I've checked. Sorry Pigface!

Interesting thing though is that the list is a list of decent managers.

Your argument about age doesn't stand up. Some people are young achievers but most if us improve with experience at whatever we do. Your arguments are also contradictory - he only had one full season in the championship with us and then had his midfield sold. His transfer policy, like Warnock's was dictated by Bates and is an unfair basis on which to judge either manager. As for the individual matches like Coventry, that's a futile argument. All managers preside over bad results, they all make bad decisions, it's what they do over time that matters, and Grayson's achievements are not bad for 6 years.

Only time will tell whether he's really any good. As for where Grayson will finish this year - I expect they'll fall away - it's 50/50 and I certainly wouldn't bet money on it, especially since we might have millions to spend in January.
ML

Agree0 Disagree0

What part of my post is a contradiction
It's you that contradicts yourself saying cant use age then using it then saying you expect Huddersfield to fall away even with a managerial great in charge
If Dennis wise had made the same cok ups that Grayson made there would have been all the Chelsea lines thrown out but cos Grayson is a fan he's forgiven for been crap
Also you say the list is of decent managers!!!

I thinl Leeds played better yesterday because the midfield got a grip for once. Young Sam Byram was good and Tonge had his best game since joining He obviously lacks match practice so should get even better. Diouf was ace. JD

Hisham alrayes is 1 of the guyz who was at the last match

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Salem patel and david haigh were also at the game along with another guy from gfh

23 Sep 2012 21:15:50
I have just realised the investment takeover must be from gfh capital. Looking over David haighs twitter he has pictures and was there yesterday and he retweeted a picture from hisham alrayes of a ticket for the game in chairmans box. Quick search on google at him and he works for gfh.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Just like i said weeks ago, GFH got tired of waiting for the two sides to put pen to paper, so decided to buy Leeds temporarily until they find someone who is serious.

I've read a couple of posts about this being the "most negative period ever" or "At least Ridsdale had a go"...

I really do wonder sometimes about some of our supporters.

No offence to anyone, but there's a lot of people with remarkably short memories. Either that or far too gullible in believing stories.

I know people don't like Bates, but come on, apply a bit of perspective.

When Bates is gone, in a few years time, we will look back and should be at least a little thankful that...

1. We have a club to support.
2. Simon Morris didn't take us over.
2. We were managed sufficiently well enough to attract an Investment Bank to want to invest in us or take us over.

I didn't see many financial institutions queuing up to buy us when we owed them a fortune after Ridsdales dream living.

I know this will be an unpopular post, but step back and take a breath, there are questions to answer from Bates for sure, but I'd rather be where we are now than where we were.

Macca72

Believable22 Unbelievable6

There is no one queuing up to buy us . Bates will still be in charge . I bet it turns out that the 'invetsment' will be to fund the building of the Casino and hotel. Dont expect any change in the squad in January.

23 Sep 2012 17:08:12
So Bates may be hanging around for a bit longer in some guise? Well, let's not let that stop us unifying and burying hatchets once the investment saga comes finally to an end. Come on refuseniks, we can't have everything -and let's be careful that our desire to see the back of Bates doesn't become an obsession. The main problem with Bates running the club alone is that he just doesn't have the wealth to maintain us at our current level, never mind move us up to the next level, hence his various schemes to try and generate income (developing facilities, playing hardball on player contracts etc). With investment, the whole climate at the club will be transformed, as will the club's ability to compete -and that's good enough for me. Bates will be gone sooner or later in any case -he's 80 after all, so let's just relax and enjoy the brave new dawn when it comes (and be bloomin' grateful we've got such a good, hardworking and enthusiastic manager -and decent bloke- as Warnock in charge). If we're gonna start drawing up our teams assuming there will be funds in January, then here goes...

Kenny
Peltier. Pearce. Lees. Drury

Gradel. Austin. Gardner. Drenthe/Byram

McCormack

Becchio/Jerome (rotate)

Bench: White, Norris, Green, Diouf, Somma, Poleon, Ashdown

Not a weak player in that team, would destroy the championship (although it would rely on a big injection of cash)! All the people who say "don't get gradel cos buying players from the past is a backwards step" can go f*ck 'em selves cos he is pure class!

MOT

Believable4 Unbelievable18

I dont get how ppl was saying that either m8 he had only been left the club for a matter of months cant see alot of change in his performance . its only a bad idea if the player been left yrs and yrs. some fans don't have there own brain and i would accept beckford and gradel back for sure .

Agree4 Disagree1

Gradel is too young to be "the past".

Agree2 Disagree0

Batty was pure class at a much higher level to Gradel - didn't work him coming back though. It almost never does, no matter how good they were.
ML

Agree2 Disagree10

Very nice if genetically impossible - If we have the money available from the takeover then we can do better than Gradel - look to the future !

Agree0 Disagree8

We could do a Cardiff and loan a quality player from Man City who supports the club. A certain James Milner wasn't either on the bench for City today, obviously not in Mancini's plans. Could be our Bellamy, except better.

Agree6 Disagree0

Diouf is pure class ,gradels ok

Agree5 Disagree5

Batty coming back didnt work? Getting to Champions league semi final mean anything to you? People have short memories.

Agree4 Disagree0

Batty said it wasn't the same going back! But we got 3rd place in the prem! Young players I.e Lennon, gradel, Milner ALL left as kids, coming back would work just like bellamys did.

Agree2 Disagree0

But what was Batty's contribution second time round? Not much in truth.

peltier lees pearce drury

diouf austin jenas gradel

beckford becchio

subs ashdown kilgallon byram white poleon mccormack norris/green

alternating beckford becchio n rosco the same with lees pearce n kilgallon.byran n pelts fighting for right back white n drury for left back and poleon white n byran cover for wings green n norris cover for jenas n austin.and soon of course sommas back.

Believable5 Unbelievable14

Not much diff he team i did. personally i think diouf wud do a better job as att mid..holding the ball up n creative. all u need ftom that position. he cud be our playmaker wiv adamoah n gradel outwide with blistering pace. this allows beckford n becchio the free role t be on box on more occasions..

Agree3 Disagree0

Gzzzzz I got slated the other day or putting Beckford in my team. I was told to stop dreaming and get back on fifa. What did I do so wrong.

Agree0 Disagree2

Green is class! when he is fit, he would be in my team, and it would save money on jenas who isnt thhat good tbh!

Jenas would walk into are side any day of the week and thats been honest i wouldnt say no to him thats for sure

Fantastic result and performance from the lads yesterday, wasn't the most attractive in the second half but they did what was needed and saw the job out. We may not have spent a lot of money but Byram and Poleon in from the academy is a brilliant piece of business from NW, he saw something which us fans are now seeing, pure class! Best signings of the summer are Austin and Diouf, both fantastic footballers, Diouf is a very very clever footballers and can still do a job and a higher level in my opinion, also with Austin the man is a machine something we've missed for years is a player like him, we can grind out results with his consistent performances! Keep getting behind the team and we can be a surprise package this season, we all love Leeds!! PickersLUFC

Great atmosphere yesterday. No bates out chants with everyone getting behind the team.

The funniest thing yesterday was that I was stopped by a steward taking photoS of the "owners". There was 4 of them in the box. Looked very relaxed all taking photos of themselves at the game! Fingers crossed.

Ged Stockport {Ed013's Note - There was Bates out chants at the game yesterday. I moved my seat to take my son and was in the East stand and it was clear as you like coming from the South stand. Support the team, leave the Chants for outside}

Adam Drury doesn't get enough praise from us fans, everytime we perform defensively its because Drury is in the team....NW what a fantastic signing he was and on a free transfer too...just shows u don't have to spend millions to get quality. Personally I prefer Peltier as a cb and lees playing as rb. Although pelts is a rb by trade and lees a cb I think they offer greater defensive security in their secondary positions. Pearce is a real gem of a defender, wouldnt be surprised to see an england call up once leeds go up (or Norwich get interested) The problem is when injuries hit our back four paddy kisnorbo while he was a beast at the back 3 seasons back he doesnt quite have it any more unfortunately and Aidan white is not a left back and cant play there effectively....I do rate the guy however I see him as another Aaron Lennon....with Sam byram and Dom poleon emerging I would like to see gimpel emerging as back up to the first team

Believable17 Unbelievable0

A good post but have to disagree with you on aiden white
He's a poor player very over rated would rather of had compo but he's young so hopefully can improve the basics with time

Both David Haigh and Hisham Alrayes (gfh) tweeting pictures from the chairmans box at ER yesterday. Deal must be close as that would contravene any confidentiality agreement. David haigh also tweeting 'Sunday morning in england looking forward to many more'. Could be new CEO? {Ed013's Note - This is the most David Haigh has interacted with the fans, so it all seems positive}

Quite refreshing to hear Ken come out and update us on the situation. Could build a lot of trust if he done this on a monthly basis.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

It would take a personality transplant for me to ever trust Bates and he didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know other than that the prospective new owners were going to be in attendance and that he doesn't much like supporters or journalists who have the courage to challenge him.

Sorry - we already knew the last bit and I think we'd have worked out who was in the directors' box without his assistance.

As a leeds fan , born in leeds , raised in leeds , but no longer living in leeds , but living in chicago (and yes i still fly back regularly to watch leeds) i have witnessed from a far how all this news is being leaked and how leeds fans have turned on each other. yes Ken bates is a k**b and he has taken us as far as he can without extra cash , but LUST are a bunch of persons also , its like 2 spoilt children going at each other and just getting boring. LUST vision is what we all want its obvious they just printed it and advertised it. Their actions are childish. LUST need to stop their vendetta against bates as yes they are as much to blame with all this negativity around leeds as bates is. prior to 2008 and getting worse year in year out i do not remember the atmosphere been as vile as it is now. and that seems to coincide with LUST. maybe LUST should also look how they are being run and they should also change the top figures and and maybe move LUST in a direction of change and work with the club like more of the stuff they did with the police instead of against it and dividing the fans. We are sick of it from both sides. MOT in a positive direction

So leedsfans.. look like we gunna get sum money for january.. who would u like t see come in?

new team cum jan
Kenny
peltier pearce lees drury
Austin
gradel diouf adamoah
beckford becchio

Subs.. ashdown byram white green norris mccormack poleon

Believable3 Unbelievable9

Why drop Byram? He's our most talented player. Can't see Ross being dropped for Beckford even if he did come back, he's a better all round footballer. As for Beckford/Gradel, why are people obsessed with the past? Returning players often come with too much expectation and it rarely works out.
ML {Ed013's Note - A caller on the radio last night got told by Eddie Gray that he reaally can't see Neil going for Becks or Max as he is going in a different direction. Yes I know Eddie talks some garbage, but he may be right}

Agree0 Disagree7

Good call on Al Adamoah, wonder if he could be a success like another certain Ghanian was. If Becks came back though I think it would be harsh to drop Ross. Think a wing approach on behind strikers would work for him

Crmd

Agree1 Disagree3

I'd bring back Gradel any day, beckford maybe not but Even if Max didn't come back as the player he was. I'd still like to see him back because he loves Leeds and would work his bum off for the team.

Agree3 Disagree1

Original poster here.. to the first replier byrambis an outstanding talent but wont be able to play the whole season season. this team i have chose is the first team. i have no doubt byram would be excellent back up n a great sub to.change the game with.his pace. beckford and gradel were awesome before they left n think they still feel.something for the club. isnt that wot we want at Er players that want t wear tje shirt. I agree mccormack is a better alround player but will need to regain his fitness once bk from injury. Again.an impact sub for a few weeks.
always look at things negatively some fans.. who else wouls do the job gradel n beckford could do without buying premiership players. not gunna happen straight away as players dont see leeds like this anymore. we have to look at players in the lower league to get us promotion n the pace of gradel beckford and adamoah would rip defences apart in this division. or maybe i just play too much championship manager on my pc but thats how it works for me

Agree3 Disagree1

Who ever it was tht sed tht returning players dnt pllay as well , look at steven pienaar he was at everton ,totenham then back to everton and hes playing really well
