Just heard on the radio that a player called flynne, ex Wendy youth product has just banged in his 71st! Yes 71st, goal of the season playing for non league Emley. Surely got to be worth us having a look, could be the next vardy!

Great idea Lancaster. Report back when you've taken a look at him.

Without even taking a look speedy, surely anyone who scores 71 goals by end of march at any level has got to be snapped up for peanuts . He must have something about him, maybe all he does is score goals, perhaps we could easily do without him lol .

Just checked him out on Google. He's 26 yrs old, works for a firm of solicitors and has hit 71 goals in 40 games . Apparently scouts are flocking down to the games to watch him, believing he could be the next vardy. Didn't say whose scouts were there but hopefully ours were too .

Never mind scoring goals what's his hold up play like!

I'd rather wood. It's better to pay $3mil for a proven goal score lol. Last three words made me laugh.
Than take a punt on a cheap one.

Cannavaro?

We already got enough pizza and pasta in Leeds. We need promotion out of the English Championship. Don't know how a formerly gifted Italian defender turned manager can help that cause. He'll slow down our overall passage of play in typical Italian fashion. Not what's required in this league.

Evans there till the end of the season apparently - Cellino 'sometimes not happy with my wife but I don't divorce her. '
I'd like him (Evans) to stay and be given a realistic amount of money to spend next season. On a lighter note - thank heavens Nottingham Forest lost at the weekend. Bottle of champagne riding on who finishes above whom with my fishmonger. It's at his right now - looks like it's coming home :)

Just don't see MC giving Evans money to spend this summer. Probably won't give it to anyone else either.

to check the original post I think he meant as a player and yes I would have cannavaro over bamba and bellichi.

Fabio Cannavaro is 42 .

Bellusci has been a stand out player apart from when he's had bamba forced upon him.

26 Mar 2016 09:56:30
cannavro at 62 over bamba and bellischi. bellisch has his moments but is always a red card or massive mistake waiting to happen. his passing is not as good when you study him and his 'skill' against huddlesfild when 4-1 down was an insult and shows his commitment I would get rid on that moment alone let alone the fact his should of been sent off and passed to blue and white with aimless abandon and was pure cack. cooper is our best defender and little under rated IMO and cannavro as manager no thanks, sure he meant as playr.

It has just been announced that the great football player Johan Cruyff has passed away at the age of 68 after loosing his battle with cancer. I saw him play for Barcelona against Leeds at Elland Road in a two leg final of the Inter City Fairs Cup which Leeds one on aggregate. A brilliant footballer that brought so much to the game. RIP.

Agree! European Cup Final 1st leg. I was worried that a one goal lead from the first leg would not be enough. I have still got the ticket stub - Standing on the Kop for the princely sum of 50pence - happy glorious days.

Yep great player and it was the European Cup Semi Final in 1975 in front of over 50,000 at ER that night in the first leg.

Re : Squad improvements . What are the additions to the squad for next season that everyone thinks we should be looking to make . Personally if we can keep the best of what we have my choice would be 2 C H's, 2 wingers,2 strikers and a number 10 who can play behind the striker, a blend of experienced and good prospects would be fine, maybe source 2 or 3 of these from abroad a little cheaper, also a little more height and pace in the new recruits would be good . A 3 to 5 million budget to recruit these players ( along with clearing the deadwood ) would really transform the whole team. We are really not that far away when viewed like that or am I just fooling myself!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

24 Mar 2016 13:57:32
3 to 5 million budget for all of that? Where are you shopping? Leagues One and Two Poundstretcher? 20m is needed for all of that.

We should get at least one experienced c/ b Wheater being linked from Bolton .
Bamba has been on-off where I thought he would be a great signing after loan spell .
We need a creative midfielder, experienced one who commands and generals the area and at least one decent striker, I would keep Wood and partner him .

24 Mar 2016 15:35:40
As I said in a previous post we need to look at the squads of the teams that get promoted and pick off any experienced players that don't make those teams 25 man PL squad. Even if we get them on loan which would be cheaper it means we get players with Championship experience and if they play badly we can just ship them back to their club. Having said that I think it will be a hard season to get good players as whichever clubs come down they will be big teams that will easily get first pickings of the best players available.

24 Mar 2016 18:00:50
We definitely need a new centre back of quality and a number ten of quality . A pacey striker and we may be play off material . In my opinion these three positions are essential. Probably need about twelve million. There's obviously more we could want but get those in and we won't be far away . I think just having forristieri this season would have had us close to the play offs, if not in them .

look at bournemouth they build whole squad to go up for less than that. you can not put a price on the amount it is about the right player with right attitude at right time with right gaffer. I think five million spent wisely would be enough that said 30 mill spent bad would make no difference. look at teams doing well atm, not about money but tatics, gameplan togeterness and attitude.

24 Mar 2016 23:29:52
Well BW. Not often you and I disagree. But please explain how we are going to improve significantly with a mere 5 million. That's one and a half Chris Woods!

{Ed003's Note - Also worth pointing out Bournemouth invested a lot of money.}

25 Mar 2016 01:30:43
Yeah but with two woods we'd have walked the league!

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2016 09:58:00
no I kinda of agree we need to spend more but think the right manager with right buys could do it for less. did bournemouth spend a lot last year to go up? know they have this year but thought they went up with most players from league 1? however I could well be wrong on that one.

First I would like to say I love reading everyone's opinions. Been reading a long tine and love the site.
Second. Football is a business and we all know that, but I disagree with a few things said. Leeds is a massive city with people all over the country living here, the world for that matter. Chelsea had debt bigger than Leeds before, Bates sold to Abramovich. Man city would never have dreamed of winning the league and would be more concerned with staying in it until they got bought out and had millions pumped in and then parent company after company with shares and sponsors to stay within financial rules.

If a club the size of Leeds can't turn a profit and compete at championship level then questions need to be asked by the football league and other parties! So much money in the game now with agents, board members, ect; remember Denis wise leave for a pointless role at Newcastle? In the end causing Keegan to leave?

Most know football here and that's what's great. Personally I wouldn't sack Evens and I think Celino wants nothing more than to take us to the prem. Oh and Wood will be up the top next season.

Your post naive. Not many big clubs turn a profit year in year out except for Pride of Devon, Arsenal and Spurs. Pride because of it's worldwide audience especially in Asia, Arsenal because it is a very well run club with strict financial safeguards in place, Spurs the same. Recently Southampton are impressing financially due to the great player sales they made in 2014 but that's about it. Only CL really turns a club truly profitable. Don't say Citeh or Chelski - their clubs are not rich they just have rich owners. No way are they recouping massive transfer outlays. Those owners can afford it because it's nothing to them but a tax loss to move around its subsidiaries as their businesses make money. So no Leeds is not expected to make a profit with ease. A club of similar stature called Newcastle are in terrible financial trouble. It's all about getting over certain humps in football finance and thanks to Publicity Pete we've effectively been sent back to the early 80s when we were suffering then too.

i can see point to original post but them clubs had top flight status and own ground ect. also gfh and possilbly bates hanging on don't help. I think gfh want double what their share is worth so buy the time you have brought the club brought out the leeches, brought the ground and training ground, brought a sqaud to go up you can not make money back. I don't think anyone will ever buy leeds and mc will be around for many years unless he falls out of love with us and we end up back with gfh or bates or someone like that. we need a slow road back not over night success rome was not built in a day and leeds is far better than rome.

I thought city were now making a profit George, regardless of the wealthy owner . But yeah, point taken, we don't even own our ground. Makes you wonder what exactly a prospective billionaire would actually be buying. Perhaps the club badge or the tea set.

No question need to be asked why we are still renting the ground why gfh are still taking money out of the club. Get GFH out and buy the ground back and we are half way there.
