The second yellow card was deserved and after that we took control of the game with a defence that included Huffer, Aapo and Dallas! Give credit to Bielsa for getting the team to top three by making the very most of the resources he has to work with.

No point harping on about what we didn't do during the summer, because it's gone, nor moaning about what we will do in Jan because it hasn't happened yet.

Massive call for Will and Aapo today and they did ok . Well done Guys.

I'm really enjoying what is happening at the club, I love going to the under 23 and first team games. I was proud to see Will and Aapo playing today and getting a clean sheet. This is a coaching team and playing squad that have the motivation, desire and team spirit to go up this year. Let's move on and beat Reading well and hopefully get playing some great football throughout the game to get ready for the Sheffield game.

Good post Spanish, great for the young lads on debut, so pleased. But with a bit of investment we really do have a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 08:10:34
My view would be to concentrate that investment on no more than 1/ 2 players, the missing link or links to the team that would turn the possession and chances into more goals. But right player with the right attitude because if we buy them in Jan they need to have an impact straight away.

Also don’t forget Bamford and Brown, they will be keen to make an impression and while being injured have been around the club and now they are in training working with the squad and learning the approach. They will have a massive head start on anyone we buy in Jan. With those two in the match day squad, that probably means no place for Roberts or Baker. Don’t think this squad is as light as some people think!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 09:35:12
I am the same Spanish when i see a youngster come through the ranks and play his part. I think in Edmondson, Gotts, Mcalmont we have another three who could step up and not look out of place. The future looks bright if we can get out of this league. The way the club is set up now is excellent and i reckon Corberon will step up as well in the future. If we can get all the players fit for the new year we will have every chance. let's not forget we are third and half our team have been injured for over a month.

25 Nov 2018 09:35:48
Why oh why do we need help to win games even without many first team players,
We are supposed to have many players who can fill all the positions if we believe many post on this site so where are they.? Thanks to the referee 3 points .

Glad it wasn't Harpo Marx that turned out yesterday ;) (that's one for the more mature people on here)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 10:36:40
Quality not quantity is what we need, I agree, two players at most plus the Goalkeeper, as you say with the players to come back as well we could be in for an exciting run in.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 10:47:07
Agree Spanish, I think if we do invest in players in January we only need maximum of 2 bringing in. I do think we could do with another forward, for me as need someone like a jukevich from Brum, who knows the championship. Do feel we need some height in our forward line.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 11:46:41
Whiteman, don’t agree! The player made two bookable fouls and got sent off deservedly! Therefore his fault! Plus must be a reason, yes, he was finding it difficult to legally stop us playing! After that, their remaining players had to be extra careful to avoid getting another sent off, therefore more space was created.

I’ve noticed a lot of hacking of our skillful players, Saiz and Hernandez, get battered every game. A tactic to try and stop our movement. So the refs do need to watch it and stop it and he did.

Finally the Saiz/ Hernandez goal was a copy of the one they both engineered against a better team, west Brom, so they could well have done it anyway against 11 players of Bristol.

Totally agree Spanish!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 15:36:25
Spanishleeds I don’t disagree he deserves to be sent off no problem with that, but up to that point we had nothing, do we need to have teams go down to 10 before we take control of games we should be winning.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 17:09:26
Whiteman, it was tougher before the sending off but we did create some opportunities, just didn’t take them.

Teams know now how to try and stop us, both in terms of style of play and also fouling/ tackling/ crowding out key players. But that is a really hard tactic to play against us for the whole of the 90 mins. You need fitness to do it and skill to make it count. The only team that has done it easily iin the end is West Brom. Let’s see what happens at Sheffield.

We don’t know what The score would have been if they hadn’t had a player sent off. Perhaps the effort and our subs would have done them in the end anyway.
If we get an early goal it makes it so much harder for teams to play us, that hasn’t been happening even though chances have been there. If we don’t get an early goal patience is the key.

One other thing about yesterday, we had Saiz, Clarke, Harrison and Baker on the bench, and that’s not a bad choice against a tiring side. Add Brown and Bamford into that and those options become even stronger.

What trait does KP and Berm share in common with one slight difference?

What trait has KP got which Berm lacks?

KP is always available, the other goes missing for weeks, lol.

24 Nov 2018 23:02:40
Good answers both but here's the correct ones.

1. One can truly pass, the other best to bypass.

2. One, when called upon, can leap to a defence, the other won't leap to anyone's defence even a young improving midfielder's. Actually, come to think about it, I don't think the other can leap at all despite claims of being a former goalkeeper.

😂.

KP is playing the ways he's playing because of the masterclass coaching of Marcelo Beilsa.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Nov 2018 08:51:28
He also shines against poorer teams but is still developing. Unfortunately against teams like West Brom he is found wanting and the performance suffers but hey, he is still only 22 and getting better so credit has to go to him when he bosses the game like today. Onwards and upwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 09:43:51
White light true if he was not doing what Bielsa wanted he would not be playing , anyone with problems with the way KP blame MB.

24 Nov 2018 19:09:51
Come on, it was only against a poor Bristol team 😉.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 00:46:31
sorry notts but you got me, KP is a wonderful player providing the opposition are not good, people have mentioned prem player yet when playing against the better teams he is found lacking, it don't suprise me he played well today and against rotherham and wigan, it also don't suprise me he didn't play well against west brom, swans etc.

KP is great tecincal player but lacks the physical attributes to mix it with best in this leagaue, sadly we will not be playing bristol, rotherham or wigan in playoffs even if KP's performances against these team are part of the reason we make the play offs.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 08:46:06
KP is not perfect and no-one is claiming he is. I was one of his biggest critics last season but can acknowledge the improvement in his discipline and performances this season. Pointing out that he can only play well against poor teams is disingenuous as I could not tell you who played well against WBA or Swansea because most of the team did not. You could put your argument against Alioski, who again stank Elland Road out yesterday, but you will not because you have backed him as a good player and are blinkered to his poor displays.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 09:57:13
Back to the nonsense of it was a poor opposition team, none of the games are easy. You allow any team space and they will cause you problems. They looked poor because we made them look poor. Even with half a team we made them look poor. that's credit to all the players on the pitch and the coaching. We will not need play offs if KP keeps on being the star that he is.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 10:54:23
Agree BIGE,
Rotherham many would say are seen as a so called poor team, didn't they give Sheffield United a bit of a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2018 12:04:47
And Wigan beat West Brom not long ago. There is no poor teams in this league, just look at past results. Makes me laugh when to justify your point you say the other team is crap when the fact is they were crap because we bossed them. Only downside to our game at the moment is turning chances into goals.

Happy with the 3 points, took a sending off before we really took control. Just shows how down to the bare bones we really are. Hopefully our injured players will be back soon or we really need to get a couple of players in. Still positive note a clean sheet and 3 points.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Nov 2018 17:57:13
We are building team and squad spirit . Doesn’t do anyone any harm to know that, Shackleton, Edmondson, Clarke, Huffer and Aapo have all had some experience with the first team. Baker and Harrison both looked better when they came on today. Hernandez and Saiz showed why both of them can always rustle up a goal. Not one of Hernadez or Roofes better days but both get a goal!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2018 14:09:48
Just seen the team for today and it does emphasise the lack of strengthen in depth with all our injuries. Still hoping for a win which will be a great achievement with all our absentees. Good luck to the team. MOT.

24 Nov 2018 20:34:12
what is the point of having a devepment squad team if there isn’t a path into the first team. You won’t know how good they are until you play them. First game for Will and Aapo in front of 34k instead of 150 at Thorpe Arch. If we can do that and beat Bristol 2-0, that’s not bad. Imagine how much that helps ther development.

At the ground and a great buzz. No one says we’ve brought anyone in and seems to be Huffer in goal! Bristol fans not holding out much hope and expecting a thrashing. Wouldn’t that be nice! Like to see an early goal and for us, for a change, then I reckon we will start playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2018 12:10:35
Panic setting in?

Don't have enough quality, experienced players. look at the bench.
"If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's a duck! ". no hiding or kidding oneself.

Busiest time of the season coming up.

If we're still in the top 6 after Xmas I'll be amazed. then get in 5 players, to be decided and with Bielsa, we have a chance. no new signings, its another season on the Championship coming up!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2018 12:39:49
Bringing in that number of players is just disruptive

Plus by the time they’re up to speed with what MB wants and expects, the season is over

We will utilise the u23s and the 4 returning from injury will be sufficient

Keep the faith

Glad to see Metisse is feeling confident! Do you think all your Christmas presents are going to be crap as well! Somewhere, lurking in the under 23s are players who are going to make it! But they won’t do that without a chance. Let em play in the first team when they are needed and then slag them off if they deserve it! But give them a chance!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2018 13:11:18
