Chuff me. the big news was the Heineken pouring rights. I read down the announcement till I saw the sought after word

". investment. "

And got all excited. but then I saw

". 250,000. "

And I felt rather deflated. and then I saw

". in the pouring infrastructure. "

And I honestly nearly wept. all we got fer the priviledge of reading their brand was some kit to shift their product at ER.

Gone t flamin' dogs.

I have a theory which hopefully makes sense. Firstly we have rumours of investment from red bull and we know gfh are looking for investors. Yesterday Haigh comes out and says he believes that within 2 years we can be back in the premiership. Reading into this (I accept maybe too much!) but I work in a job that often sees takeovers and large investmests and they don't happen over night typically. Maybe, just maybe the deal with red bull could be relatively close but also too late to mean much of an impact for this season. Perhaps Haigh is lowering expectations and any investment which in turn will give BM funds for players realistically will be for either january and the summer this time next year. It relieves any pressure on BM and our existing players - keep in mind that investment on the scale which at the moment is pure rumour takes time and won't happen overnight. We've waited a long time for decent backing I for 1 would happily wait 1 more season if this rumour is true and serious and consequently gets us back to where we know and believe we belong

Does the experience from your job not suggest to you that we are being taken for a ride here? Papa Smurf still has his hands on the purse strings. GFH and all the talk of investment is just pure cow dung and a smoke screen for a man who is slowly but surely milking our club dry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Papa Smurf. I can't even be bothered to reiterate why you are wrong just know that you are. How boring.

GFH (not Bates) are looking for both investors (club shares) and also commercial partners. They have made a few of both and the commercial ones seem to have been good so far. Red Bull will be another commercial partner, hopefully tied to the naming rights of ER allowing buy backs of ER and or TA. This adds to Leeds assets and decreases running costs in the form or rent. Think positive rather than delusional!

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres an unhealthy and insane obsession by some guys on here regarding Bates, FFS let it go, Bates has bog all to do with the running of Leeds Utd, GFH have said as much, MOT without Bates.

To all the wind up merchants who make up stories about it making good business sense and good for the team to sell Bryam. What positions you would fill and who with? Use the 6M you quote and then using the amount you think bmc would realistically be given.
It will be interesting to find out if you are in the camp of we need 6 to 8 new players or the camp of moaning about the club selling our best players in one post and the suggesting we sell them in the next.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think for one minute that Byram should be sold but we've missed the boat if we were ever going to sell him.
If we were to sell Byram now, and BMcD was given the £6m to spend:
- Mills, £750k
- Albrighton, £1.5m
- Mackay-Steven, £1.5m
- Jerome, £2m
-

Agree0 Disagree0

Jerome 2 mill no chance he's not that expensive and he's not very good atall

Agree0 Disagree0

Mills 750 k
Chris solly 1 million - byram's replacement
Lua lua 1.2 million
Chris Burke 800k
Troy deeney 2 million

A centre back, 2nd best right back in the championship, 2 wingers and a goalscorer

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing to do with being a wind up merchant. Byram is a great player and was one of the few positives I took from last year. I would love him to stay as would everyone (in an ideal world) but if funds are not available and other positions are deemed higher priority to replace by the manager then the question should be asked.

I don't think people are saying he is rubbish let's get rid, nor that we are a selling club but rather would the money potentially benefit the club more as cash rather than a price tag on a player with 1 season of prof football and an ongoing hip injury.

I would rather keep him but people are entitled to opinions and compared to some on this site this one is not too far fetched. ***stepping down from soap box***

Ross McCormack tweeted a photo of a can of red bull yesterday?

As we are in desperate need of a winger with a bit of pace I think we should look at taking James McLean on loan from Sunderland. He seems to be one of the fringe players who di Canio does not seem to rate. He may well be trying to be prove himself by getting a personal trainer but paolo does not seem impressed and instead splashed out almost 20 million on the midfield.
A loan to the championship beckons according to football 365 and hopfully we can finally we can get the winger we need

Phil hay has tweeted to say Brian Mcdermott has said that he does not know if we will have anyone new in before Brighton game - what an absolute joke we are. He must feel he is working with one hand tied behind his back. David haigh comes out with that claptrap in Sun yesterday about being in Prem within 2 years - he must be joking we are been taking for mugs yet again

Is all this talk of red bull possibly changing our actual name just a load of ****? the stadium would be painful but I could get over that but not the name surely?

'IF'. The Red Bull deal is signed off I think I'm going to get excited! Yep. I was a little weary and only a little optimistic but to be honest. Not too excited for the team this season. But. My optimism and excitment is gaining by the day. I don't expect miracles but I can live with the Red Bull Arena if it means bringing in 2-3 players over a mil each.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My how times have moved on. Leeds could now be able to buy 3 players for more than a million.

I remember when the record signing was Trevor Francis bought by Notts Forest for a Million. now we think we can buy three whole players for above a million.

We must be a titanic team with really the right to get excited if we can do that.

Oh. but then someone pointed out that the truly big teams that we aspire to be are paying 25-40M for individual players.

And then suddenly, the red bull sponsorship seems like they're getting a great name for chicken feed. and all you can buy with chicken feed is. well chickens.

Red Bull. we would appreciate you signing a 3 year 40 million deal. the name of Elland Road and your association with a Historied but also Premier League headed club is worth at least that much.

Short of that. please get yerselves together, use yer well advertized wings and flock off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't seem all that long ago we bought ONE for £18 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

It might not seem so long ago we bought players for 18 Meg. but Leeds have been out of the Premiership for 9 years.

By May next year, we'll have been out for a decade.

If it doesn't feel that long. well we must have been having us selves some fun then.

I tell you what. seein' as how laugh a minute it is. well, let's stay in the Championship

Reminicent of last season

Certainly getting to me imo not at all like last season because I never expected anything from b*tes. when gfh came in 1st of july wiith a bang I thought finally away we go but they've let the momentum drop so it almost feels like a negative. I just wonder what bmd truely thinks about the situation!

Agree0 Disagree0

No. we're used to it. This is par for the course.

It's going to be another season of "hoping to make the play offs".

You just have to settle back and tolerate the lack of inspirational news.

People laugh at me these days as a Leeds fan. None of the kids my own kids' ages can remember Leeds as a Premiership team.

They don't expect anything qualifying as exciting news to come out of the team. so why should you or anyone else.

What I find difficult to understand aand did at the time is why gfh allowed Warnock to bring players to the club in January when he was leaving in the summer. I think the two players he brought in were two of his better ones but every manager has his own thoughts on players. Bmd has already moved Morrison on and he way well have thought drury or white could have filled the left back slot and used Steve Warnocks wages in a more urgent position?

why not bring back somma on a pay as you play deal till January?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why not just get Billy Sharp on loan his stats are the best in the Championship and we haven't got a goalscorer not impressed at all on the managers signings

Agree0 Disagree0

Knew it wouldn't be long before someone started to question mcdermotts signings the season hasn't even kicked off yet and your already whinging

Agree0 Disagree0

Attempts have been made to manage our expectations down setting promotion in 2 years as the benchmark.

I'm not for buying high priced, high waged has beens on 2/3 year contracts who'll see us bounced down in a year after a lucky bounce up.

But I also don't think the ownership can expect long suffering Leeds fans to have the patience for a "maybe in 2 years" half promise and piffy little investments in the squad.

GFH. invest fully and effectively. get a long term premiership asset. or be prepared for eroded value of a squandered brand and a half baked championship team.

As they say over here "Ship! Or get off the pot" (well something like that. )
