hello all,

been bit quiet on here as new plays opens next week so been rehearsing at leyton Orient stadium, we are on ITV London tonight at 6 and talk sport on the jim white show tomorrow if anyone wants to catch it.

pleased with last night, good to see mB take stock and make changes as needed. Thought Alosiki was good and unlucky not to score, BFP did little but made a good save late on and few good catches which was good.

good to see roofe score pablo being a different class and forshaw showing his qualities

seen a few comments regarding KP and my thoughts, he was good last night, against a poor team he is great and first name on team sheet, Ipswich are league one quality and i said many times KP in league one would be a god, last night at his pace with no threat from opposition he controlled game and showed his class on the ball with skill and vision. my trouble is against better teams where he has to tackle, run and defend and not given such time. that is when i would drop him. but against ipsich he is first name on team sheet.

Sorry Bermo, but there are quite a few decent PL clubs sniffing around Kal, so they also believe he is well above League 1. He was immense in a new position last night. Ran it from the back, then started moving forward, and making things happen. Long and short range passing was precise. Won most of his challenges, and was strangely strong in the air too. You just need to admit it buddy.

Bermonsey hope the critics are more generous about you play than you are about Philips! Bielsa likes the guy and has faith in him and I've witness him play this season where he was one of our better players. Did he heckle you or something mate as you see something in him that a lot of us dont.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 22:46:21
in my defence i have invited KP so he can tell me i'm useless which seems only fair. I have been told bamford might be coming as his cousin is in the play and I love bamford.

its same old stuff. I think he is great on the ball real quality (not prem quality on the ball when compared to erikison etc. but very good) but I will never think he is mobile enough or good enough in the tackle, against the better teams I have not seen anything that gives me faith or or changed my mind. Steve Gibsons daughter is also in the play so I am doing my upmost to sell him so i can stop going on about him

I do see his quality but I also think he has massive flaws, would i play him against forest, no i wouldn't but the manager will and I back the manager what he did the other night really impressed me with his changes.

26 Oct 2018 00:05:21
I’m complete opposite to you mate. I’d sell Bamford tomorrow but keep KP. I think he is growing into his role and learning from Bielsa all the time. He is trying his best and doing really well in a new role.
Put Forshaw with him and we will win 90% of our games.
Bamford when fit will never be upper champ or prem striker. He has lost it. If he really ever had it.

Bermondsey, it might be that Phillips as centre back answers a lot of the questions you raise about him in the dm role. Less need to run back, has a dm in front of him to assist, even with the tackling, the players are running on to him more and therefore he’s not chasing and tackling as much and he has a more limited area to perform. Against weaker teams he can push forward more and the dm in front moves up, against better teams the dm sits more to assist him.

You talked about Bielsa finding a role for him that allowed him to play his passes and dictate the play, perhaps this allows him to do that.

Be interesting to test that out against Forest, a side with more pace and threat with Forshaw sat in front of him and Saiz/ klich ahead.

On a different note Bermo, hope the new play goes well fella!

26 Oct 2018 09:48:25
what you say spanish is very true and I think forshaw is perfect foil for KP as his energy and pace will protect KP allowing KP to do what he does best, honestly with saiz little off boil i'd be tempted to play him in number ten role where all his passes could hurt with out having to hit it 70 yards (although he can do this with ease) I hope forshaw might be the answer as I have said i do worry defeinsively about KP against better teams

Aus got lots of Bamford connections as Victoria club sold us Bamford (she loved him and really rated him and thinks we have a good player) and Helena is his cousin (she also rates him but then he is familiy) . I think he ain't really had a chance at leeds but when played done well, i hope when fit at xmas he could be our 8990 lee chapman and fire us the goals we need!

Cheers bright, play is going well on talk sport today so media coverage has done really well, it is an amazing true story so proud to do these footballers and war heroes proud (even playing a fat footballer called jumbo myself. am i kp in desguise. am i kp in desguise! )

{Ed001's Note - good luck with it Berm, I really hope it goes well for you mate. Are you not worried about being typecast though?}

26 Oct 2018 10:06:22
The problem I’ve found with Bermondsey’s writing in comparison with the top writers is that he’s too slow in developing his story lines, not good enough at tackling the real issues. It’s ok when he’s up against children’s market but I worry about him when he’s compared with top notch adult writers and playwrights!

Good luck fella!

Ok BW KP is talented, great passer has vision totally with you on that mate. But the arguments you use to drop him can be used against every other player in the team. Alioski form against attacking teams is poor is he premier class? Saiz at the moment is poor against everyone is he premier class? Ayling started the season appallingly is he premier class? Harrison, Roberts, you can go on and on. Fact is we have a team who on the day can beat anyone in this division. Yes we will have off days. KP has put as much effort if not more into every game than most of the others. He has never been the worst player on the pitch, not counting when he got took off because we still did not win those games and if left on he may have got into those games. Do we have any Premier quality players, maybe Klich, Roofe at a push. What we have is a team who play for each other who will improve every week in the system asked of them. We have a group wanting to play and do well for Leeds. KP if you like it or not is a key player in this group and we would miss him out there. You do not like KP, fair enough but i hope your plays are not as repetitive as your posts.

26 Oct 2018 15:59:34
If the argument is down to whether or not KP can tackle, then consider that he doesn't have to, forwards go to him and he shepherds them towards the full backs or centre halves, it's a delaying tactic to let players that can tackle get into position to do it.

in reply to Spanish, I rate Kp as a lower championship player at best but he is still better than my level as a playwright. to compare my skills as a playwright to a footballer i would say i am about as good at writing plays as Pual Rhupka is at catching, David Batty is at scoring and roquie Jr is at defending! but on another note please come and see my show it is really good honest.

spurs are scouting my play with regards to a possible west end transfer for 20 million and Southgate is coming to see the show (that is true), so obviously i must be rated as one of the best young (yes young) english writers! it must be true as I read it on the rumours page. So, Fact as Jeff told me.

Under 23s won 5 -o today. Looked like we had a slow start. Edmundson got another two, Clarke Odour seemed to have another good game made at least one and scored one. seems Aapo got injured. Anyone at the game, I couldn't go today.

Did not get to match, working again, but watched first half on Facebook, Leeds United page. We were all over them. Odour playing really well. All front line were excellent to be honest. Just so much fluidity about their play. I am Edmondsons cheer leader and expect him to be stepping up before season over. Future looks bright lads. Gotts as well have to mention, improving every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2018 17:47:35
I went to u23s

Oduor looks a prospect but he’s all left foot sadly. Very good going forward, Dalby taking the excellent oxlade -chamberlain inside to make room for clarkey was something county never sussed

Diaz looks a class act

I like him a lot

Nessy led the back line, got a booking for his second “ tactical foul”. Not sure he’ll reach the levels Halme, diaz and Struijk will.

Edmondson is very vocal about what he wants and really puts a shift in. County couldn’t match his and dalby. It really was men vs boys at times

What was interesting was how many u23s didn’t play. There’s quite a wealth of talent at that level

Gott, Mccalmont, nicell, all very busy and interchanged well

Stevens was quick

Decent keeper in miazek too

Kamwa came on in second half and he’s pretty decent too.

Did I mention I really like Diaz?

The future looks bright although with the exception of ox the younger, county didn’t offer a lot.

The under 23 s out again at Thorpe arch on Monday. Agree with you BIGE, really enjoy the games. They play really well together. It’s really worth going. Clarke Odour looks another prospect on the left, wing wing back, pave, trucks and scores.

Edmondson is a bit more of a poacher but works really hard. I think he could provide us with a different option for the most physical games but it’s going to be hard for him to get space on the bench.

26 Oct 2018 18:21:27

Last night was a performance where we did enough to win the game. Ipswich bottom of the table, thought we completely stopped them from playing, while we looked ok in patches. Also thought the foundations of what MB is trying to do were very apparent . Still a few players short, Few decent loans in January, will only cost 6 months wages . A third of the way through the season.

Hi all. My friends are telling me that I am a tad morose at present, possibly on a bit of a downer. Thus, particularly now having read some posts on here, I am doubting my assessment of the game. As I saw it, for much of the game we lacked the intensity and pressure which augments Bielsa's style and which delivered our superb early performances, but did look very good for between 1/ 4 and 1/ 3 of the game. To me it felt as if we play the same way this coming weekend, we will lose comfortably. It felt for much of the game that we were no better than against Brentford or Blackburn, but lucky enough to be playing the worst team in the division, who played as if already resigned to defeat and even relegation. At times it felt like watching the bottom team playing the bottom team and part of me says that we should take little comfort from the victory, points and upwards move, whilst another part of me says, the other teams have problems too, don't over expect and enjoy the moment. I am all confused. Quick rant - the red button coverage is crap. Momentary power cut in pub, missed first goal, no replay -WTF?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2018 13:06:12
Tory, I thought we were just doing enough to win the the game.
Ipswich were definitely the worst side I've seen this season.
One plus for me was Forshaws performance. He should definitely start instead of Saiz on Saturday.
One negative was Harrison. I thought he would relish playing on the left but I thought it was his worst performance so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 13:57:11
I was at the game Tory **** and I left feeling great about the team. I can understand how you felt before the first goal. Through injuries, we are having to move people into different positions and bring people back after injury and Saiz is just not hitting the mm perfect passes.

But the goal was class and showed the class of Hernadez and Roofe and a nice pass from Saiz to find Hernadez in space.

After that it was really one way and in the second half, we did play some class football. Alioski denied by the woodwork, that would have been a classic and Forshaw by a good save by the goalie. Not really missed chances! Should have been 4-0.

You are right, we need to step up against Forest, but could be that we really needed that game to help us get our game back. If we start off how we played in the second half we will make a game of it and the difference with Hernadez in the team, is that he can conjure up a goal from very little and even when we are struggling.

Hopefully we’ll make that step.!

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 14:15:57
Odd tactics in the first half. When Phillips picked up the ball, Ayling, Alioski, Hernandez, Harrison, Saiz and Roofe would all push up against Ipswich back line waiting to accept the long pass, which Ipswich dealt with quite comfortably. The only time Saiz dropped in the hole to accept a pass, he fed it to Hernandez, who crossed to Roofe for the goal. Only when Forshaw came on did we have a transitional link, the passing became shorter and more crisp. Saiz is a busted flush at the moment and I think Forshaw needs to be given a run in the team and push Klich further forward. However a win is a win, albeit against a very poor side.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 15:24:04
Notts I think busted flush is a bit harsh!

He made the goal against Blackburn and by your own admission, when he got hold of the ball, he got it out to Hernadez and another goal. He is a target for everyone we play and everyone cutting his space down. I think it’s good that we work out how to play without him but just being in the field he causes the opposition problems and creates space and time for others .

Good test for us on Saturday, can we make that step up and still create with a side that will come at us with more skill and pace.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 15:51:59
Do you think he played well last night Spanish? Maybe busted flush is a bit harsh but a few games on the bench may be of benefit. I thought he was poor last night in movement, passing and strength. Maybe the tactics in the first half did not suit his style but we did not really step up a gear until he went off.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 16:38:43
Think Forshaw made a big difference Saiz for me would be on the bench for Forest .
Have to say that I thought KP was excellent last night and I did like Pearce .
Ipsh*t were dire except the Gk who has been there best player for a couple of seasons .

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 17:15:04
Notts, I know it’s a bit of a cliche but he almost seems to be trying to hard. Also his confidence in front of goal is shot. His quality means that he only needs one move to work and we score, and that’s happened in the last two games despite poorer performances generally! Last night might have been a good game to rest him but against the better teams surely we need his quality. Perhaps kick off with him and see how it goes with Forshaw ready to come on.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 18:12:50

he was on here the other day though.

I think the thing to keep in mind though is that its easier to excel against the bottom team than to do it against tougher opposition. Great game from KP yesterday by all accounts but just hope he can keep it up now against others. the lad is still learning his trade.

Now that wasn't difficult. Roofe through the middle. Alioski at the back (He had an excellent game) and we are a different team. Ipswich were poor and we didn't create as much as we should with the possession but all in all a good night's work. Forshaw is ready to start brings a different dimension to the game. Never thought much of Phillips but he's come on in leaps and bounds. With Douglas coming back and Possibly Brown in the new year things are looking up.

Roofe makes a big difference up front. Makes space for others in the box with his movement, we have missed that. Alioski had a good game but would like to see how he is against a potent strike force Ipswich did not offer much. The two best players for me were Pablo and KP.

Good result last night. It really shows that we have talent in depth when, no matter who gets injured there is always someone there to step in and someone who doesn't attract a sharp intake of breath and the words "oh no" All that must be down to MBs training and the fluidity he engenders.

When we focus a lot on individual players what we don't mention a lot on here is teamwork and determination. One of the real differences that I am seeing this year is that we are really building something that the club and city can be proud of. A squad of players that do the job the manager asks them, work together and play hard until the last whistle. Haven't seen us give up for any moment this year in the league.

We've paid big money for an intelligent manager, that has integrity and takes responsibility and lives and breathes the game. He has brought in a professional team that make it happen and recognized the importance of Corberan.

Last night, no Pontus, no Douglas and soon no beradi, but we find a solution. that management, teamwork and determination is going to take us a long way, whilst we are also building something for the future.

Jan, one or two quality additions, I would be very surprised if we get more than that unless they really are for the future. And we now have the benefit of Bielsa having been in the country for a few months and seen more football and having more contacts.

I'm loving what I'm seeing at the club and going to the games is a real pleasure. Unless you've got billions to spend, what makes a winning team is that teamwork, spirit and ability to get 100% out of the more average members of the group. In what looks to be a pretty well matched league this year, that could make the difference!

Lovin' it!

Great win against a poor side but still have to beat them, results going well for us too and is a crazy league.
Phillips was my motm tonight, his passing and reading of the game top class, I would seriously think of going 3 CB's next up with him, Pontus and cooper.
Alioski also better but has to score the 2nd chance, harrison was non existent and time for Clarke.
Mb is doing amazing things with almost same players as last season and feel with 2-3 players in Jan could definitely be promotion contenders. Still feel need Cb cover and would go for foyth, then another quality forward and finally a pacey left winger like Foden. Maybe Clarke can be that answer but he needs games now till Jan to confirm. Also hopefully Izzy is class and can make us tick.

Foyth and Foden, that’s quite a Christmas list! We don’t even know if they are going to be in the shops, so best to have some alternatives on the list as well.

Phillips, looked so good Bermondsey has gone into hiding and developed writers block! But they did give him a lot of space and time. Interesting to see how he copes against a higher level of skill and pace.

Clarke is being handled well, building up time with the squad and minutes on the pitch. I think that’s how he will continue to be used for a bit.

CB, not sure Bielsa sees Shaunessy as a solution so I’d like him to bring one of Aapo or Diaz into the squad like he’s done with Clarke and Shackleton, to give them the taste and get them ready to be blooded.

Morning all good to see the mighty whites win again, but how c*** is the red button on sky? no replays or owt also everyone saying we are due to give someone a tonking but with only one striker I doubt it, would love to see edmondson up front and jack Clarke more, really what does he have to do to get in in front of dallas and alioski? thought kp was immense and cooper is getting better great goal. Also why do we insist on playing out from the back all the time, and what a waste having Baker and Blackman.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2018 09:13:45
I think playing out from the back is working we look far more in control, better to do that then ask the keeper to hoof it up front with a 50-50 chance of winning it in the air. At least we hold onto it longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 09:37:50
Jack Clarke’s appearances not about his ability and potential but about handling him right. He is 17 and still learning and building up his fitness to last a full game at this level and pace. He doesn’t track back naturally all the time or have the physicality of Alioski.

Edmundson, not the all round player that Roberts is yet. Massive truer and great lad. Offers something else and for that reason worth being in the squad, but competition for that bench is getting tough!

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 12:56:25
Think Clarke will get some game time soon, too good to sit on bench all season. Edmondson for me is as good as Roberts, if not better, but the fact Roberts has been around the squad all season so far think it gives him the edge. When cup games come round would expect players like Edmondson, Clarke, Stevens, Shackleton to get a run out and who knows that might give them the step up.

Good to get the win and be top of the tree again although it's mighty congested.
Didn't see the game but followed it on text between 3-5am.
Possession high again which is good.
Pleased for both Hernandez and roofe.
Couple of questions for those that saw the game.
Was Alioski ok at back? Did he get forward more once Forshaw was on? Should Forshaw start and use Saiz as impact sub?
And does anybody know the stats for most shots off target for season. We got to be top there too.
Pleased and hope to repeat result on Saturday.
Seems Bielsa has learnt about using subs more as he wasn't at start of season.

Hard to assess properly Aus as Ipswich were really really poor, saiz had a bad game and was rightly replaced by Forshaw, saiz is playing way too deep, doesn’t look like scoring at the moment, and his passing leaves a lot to be desired, thought Alioski was average tbh, once moved to the wing I think he’s the only winger in the league who can’t beat a man, pablo was on another level and Phillips had a solid game. good to get the 3 points but I feel we will need to play better against forest to get another 3.

Alioski was ok as said by sky pundits too. Provided best cross of night as well after BEATING defender.

Alioski has a good game, definitely went forward when the formation changed and almost scored an absolute cracker.

Saiz is going through a tough patch, but other teams are often trying to mark him and foul him out of the game and he is finding it difficult to find space, could be why he is wandering a bit. Lots of his balls not coming off, he should have scored last night and I think he really needs a goal. That said he made the goal on Saturday and last night his quick release, found Hernadez in tons of space to find another. Although it’s forshaw coming on for him, hswaps with Klich who goes forward more. Good to not be totally dependent on Saiz, but when he is on the pitch he occupies the minds and bodies of the opposition.

Alioski played ok last night Aus, particularly in the second half. Jack Harrison didn't play great but I think that was due to the way we played that he struggled. Because we effectively had a back 3 with 2 wing backs (so Alioski was naturally playing further forward) Harrison had to play as an inside forward. I'd say he's naturally someone who'd go past someone and get a cross in so don't think this suited him overly well.
When we took Saiz off we looked so much better and more in control.
Saiz is talented but off the ball he doesn't have the same effect as Forshaw/ Klich in the same position. Recently too he's lost the ball a lot more than those two so I'd maybe say he needs a few games out/ come on as an impact sub. I think the beauty of having Klich and Forshaw is that they both work hard but can both play too which is an extra bonus.
Happy to have Hernandez back too - he's a class apart!

Just got in from the game, and I have to say that despite being such a poor, relegation-threatened team, we're Leeds United, we're top of the league :) PS. cheers Fat Frank :)

Evening gents. Nice to see Roofe leap above Pennington. A meaningful sign perhaps. Talking of which, who can unravel this acronym?

I'm hoping it catches on like MOT and ALAW. Oh and good game KP. Night night.
