I think we need 3 - Keeper for me is a must need (get the heebie jeebies when the ball goes near wiedwald) - Lassogga does nothing so need to get rid and bring in a good old fashioned center forward type who can get a few - and a good experienced center half - top 2 could be a possible

The Wiedwald bashing really needs to stop, stats wise only Ruddy at Wolves is ahead of him. He is currently 4th in clean sheets, 2nd in clean sheet percentage. We concede 0.9 and score 1.75 with him in the team (only Ruddy tops that with 0.8 and 1.9) 1.8 conceded, 1.2 scored without him. Yeah ok he has had a couple of clangers but so did Green last season and Kasper a few before that. We need a proper LB that's priority 1. After that a ST so Grot can go out on loan and we can deal with the ekuban injury thing plus a CB to add depth would be good.

Great stats there Gummie - if only football was played on paper he'd be a star - but he does make mistakes and doesn't instill confidence and that can only rub off on the defenders - he's a weak link and promotion teams don't have weak links at the back

He's in a Leeds shirt. Like rads says " marching on together ". Back him. Seems the players do.

Not the best keeper in the world but one of the best in this division. Is there one better than him available, don't think so. A lot of our goals against come from defensive mistakes, not just his. Its his first season in the English leagues so keep the faith guys. He is improving so i think he will get better.

Felix tends to play well when the back four are playing well, but does panic at times when the opposition are attacking. I will give him credit that he has after a bad period of form he has tried to put it behind him and has done reasonably well in the recent run. But we do need a better keeper if we do have ambitions of the premier league.

Fair point KRAY (though the real life events of the film Moneyball would disagree, even if its a different sport) but the funny thing about stats is that bad players might have good ones for a game or two but they won't have good ones over half a season. Is he good enough for the Prem? maybe not but we won't get a Prem quality keeper until we get promoted anyway and certainly no one is selling one for affordable money with affordable wages in the Jan window. Wiedwald is good enough to get us out of this league this season, even with the mistakes. A new LB will save us a lot more goals than a new GK right now as most of our conceded are from attacks down that wing.

{Ed001's Note - I would look into the events around Moneyball more closely mate, it was not like the film shows at all. Lots of articles around that point out how the film neglected to mention half the players, the big star hitters etc.}

One down away from home and to come back to win is always a good result. There are some fine margins between the teams in this league and even finer margins when you are away from home. There is still miles of room for improvement and we are moving in the right direction. Think it's all down to the investment now

Good character to come back and win today butBurton were there for the taking really, they aren’t a great team and it would have been disastrous for us if we want to actually compete this year. So far this year I think we have shown we are good enough for playoffs but probably no more than that with the current squad. We will see when we play the better teams I guess. Not convinced with Lasogga and we seem to play long ball with him about. Roofe needs to keep his place in the team imo but we can play better gootie than today. Good to deliver away from home in a cup final but we need to strengthen to be realistic contenders.

I think we can all have our opinions but the table doesn't lie. And the table shows we're contenders

Wex We still need reinforcements. Cooper will struggle against better opposition which we will meet in the playoffs. LB, central defender and striker in January and we could make 2nd. Wish we could get Bryan.

On paper Birmingham should hold no fear for us in our next game. We are on a good run of form, they are playing poorly and St. Andrews has been a ground that we haven't lost at in the past 4-5 visits. Saying this I am wary, I would take a scrappy win to keep our run going. Living in amongst some hard-core blues fans, I really want us to win this one especially as I will be stuck in the ground with family members who are season ticket holders. Come Lads let's do them. Good enough for the play off let’s hope we don’t meet a team like Burton.

26 Dec 2017 18:49:03
If we had played Burton in a two leg play off, we would have beaten them 7-1 on aggregate! That should make even you be happy at Christmas, white man! Of course it's still a work in progress but the same can be said for most of the others as well. But we are winning games we could have lost& we have some match winning players. All these good results now can help encourage Jan spending that could make that extra different. Be happy and beat your Christmas blues and hope we do next!

Agree2 Disagree3

26 Dec 2017 19:08:18
Spanishleeds what makes you think I not happy, you can put all the work in to this team and still will need to invest in it that all I am saying, a win is a win no matter who you play but you still need players that can cut game after game and we don’t have that and unless we invest then we won’t. Sounds to me your happy to stay in this league

Agree2 Disagree3

26 Dec 2017 20:20:08
Because you never sound very happy! Lots of examples of money spent and success not produced, goodbye Mr Monk and well Done Leicester City for winning the premiership. The real skill is spending less and still achieving success and the way to do that is developing good young players, improving the players we have, using the squad and motivating the players. I think we are doing all those things and with a few key additions in Jan we can go up. Once we are up, it becomes a very different ball game but easier to deal with if the foundations are right. We are all allowed to have different opinions, Merry Christmas!

Spanishleeds we spent lots 16+ players and still more needs how much do you want us to spend, I am very happy but more money is need in the right places and the right player, is my post the only post one that you read because how many post on this site are very unhappy with a number of players who they want them sent back or cancel there loan agreement LOTS mate I am not interested in Monk, Leicedter or any other team I am Leeds and only interested in Leeds, I don’t think that, no I don’t see that we have a real good team yet, but with proper investment used to bring in the RIGHT players then may be mate may be.

Cos the type of player we can attract in this division isn't most of the time good enough for the prem league so we would have to spend again. Look at Brighton and Huddersfield for example

"Spending money proves nothing". Indeed and we need not look far for a classic example - Middlesbrough. However, we do need to invest a but. At present I would not want to meet Derby, Cardiff or SU in playoffs. We are there or thereabouts, but not there with any degree of comfort.

LUFCtoryscun69w, let’s not spend any and see how far we go. Middlesbrough and Leeds have spent more than many its-about buying the right players and some that we have brought or loan just aren’t good enough,, and when we just about win says it all, but as I said a win is a win,

Hope you all had a good Christmas and wish you all a good new year. Said a few month ago that Jan would show us where we stand in this league and look at where we are. Glad tc did not listen to some of you as half the team would have gone. Biggest thing in this league is teamwork which we have now. We have some winnable games coming up which we have to take three points from as when we play teams in top half of table results are totally unpredictable. If we get a left back and striker in Jan will be happy. Think a fit Ings would do or Ulloah. As far as u23s go three guys stand out for me. Sarkic looks decent up front, still needs to improve a bit. Macucha in midfield looks really promising, good tackler and gets forward. Pearce at left back just keeps getting better. Not seen much of KunT so still an enigma for me. So heres to 2018 and if we can't go up in the top two a trip to wembley will be nice. MOT.

Wexleeds1 is not about guarantee it’s about completing we spent lots but just about beat Burton, they did not buy 16 + you have to spend to-have a team that can compete in this league and in PL (the right players) if we make it, money will have to be available anyway cause this team won’t cut it in the PL unless you are happy going up the coming back the next season, simple
