wow a second rumour of a player signing for us then they actually do sign!?

Anybody hanker after the days when we would bandy about all the names under the sun only to find we would be outbid by all the lesser clubs in this division then being having to be lumbered with a shower of dross journeymen?

Bamba and Ngoyi, 2 good signings that will shore up a lightweight defence. Ngoyi looks solid. Great if we could keep rudi as well, was impressed with him in advanced position against bournmth.

Late season charge to the play-offs anyone?

Who did we fight off for these two then?
No comment on late charge
Happy to eat both my guinea pigs if I'm wrong though. Not sure how they will feel about it though!

Evening guys

I posted just before Christmas regarding a contact on another forum who stated out of the blue, that he is involved in a new kit deal which will be announced in Jan, I have an update.

The person who made this claim was questioned on a different forum and he said that an announcement should have been made by now but they are still working on it. It is belived that Southampton are switching their manufacturers in the same deal and are getting the same as us. They seem to think its Addidas.

I am just a messenger, and if anyone remembers my post back in December, feel free to add

Hope it's Nike or puma Adidas are to the same with all their kits especially training wear.

Seems all the players in the last few months we decided were surplus to requirements are doing ok at their new clubs makes u wonder whether a few would of been worth keeping and where we might be in league?!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure Pete. 23rd?

A joke for you lads and lassies. A man is sitting at home alone when he hears a knock on the front door.he opens it to find two policemen standing there. one policeman asks if he is married?.he says yes I am. the policeman then says I am sorry sir . But it looks like your wife's been hit by a truck. The guy replies I know, but she has a great personality and is an excellent cook,!

Surprise move of the day? - Peltier to Cardiff from Uddersfield. Someone can obviously see qualities I couldn't.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Probably the same people who saw qualities in Lees, Ajose and Smith

According to reports, Sassuolo will decide on deadline day wether Pavoletti can go. That's cutting in fine by our standards, i'd look elsewhere and see if we can bring in a striker that has bags of potential.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Same here, the same player did the similar thing last window.move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Smitch - we shouldn't view ourselves as hostages to fortune for any player, let alone a mediocre one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite clear he (or his agent) is after the most financially beneficial move possible. Doubt MC would like this type of tactis, but he is Italian so who knows.

Time to drop our interest move on to another unproven foreigner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes D.s like Antenucci ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess when you sign 7 or 8, 1 will come good. Hedging your bets a little.

Although I am excited about Bamba.

Agree0 Disagree0

We only signed 3 center towards and 2 of them scored 15 goals between them

I always said that we missed a trick not signing Austin (Charlie) instead of Painter man. He is the highest scorer in the premier league so far this year. Shocking scouting decision in my opinion.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair liverlass we would of only sold him for 100k

Wish we had kept matt smith as an alternative option rather than chasing unproven cani think smith would of had few goals by now mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep and we a few points I imagine

Agree0 Disagree0

Matt Smith always looked liked he cared too, without him we've been no threat in the air whatsoever at corners and set pieces.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry lads but I am going to play Devil's advocate here. I was disappointed to see Matt Smith go because of the reasons already mentioned however due to the style of football we planning to play it was difficult to see how Smith would fit in and therefore I understood the reason for selling him. However, we have now started to change our style of play and are looking for 6ft (plus) strikers therefore it distorts the logic for letting him go in the first place. I still feel that we would not be able to utilise his talents because we still do not have natural width that can deliver crosses that Smith feeds off. He is a developing talent and despite the fact that the MOT pundits were drooling over his aerial ability I would point out that out of the 4 excellent chances he had, 2 were headed off target and the other two were cleared off the line because Smith did not connect strong enough to make them impossible to clear. This is the conundrum with Smith, at 6ft 6in he is a threat in the air but does not he could and should score more if he perfects his heading technique

Excellent reply Notts. I'd have kept him. Good wingers at this level in short supply.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well argued comment Notts, but have to agree with George - in fact I did post at the time that it was a big mistake to sell Smith, especially for a paltry £500k. Take your point on wingers and style of play, but there are more than just wingers who can put headable balls into the box, without adopting any hoffball approach. free kicks, corners etc. Smith's size alone is intimidating to defenders, and I expressed the view that if he was well coached along the lines you suggest re directing headers with power etc, he would turn into an asset. We should have kept him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling Redders would have liked him to stay at the club. He offers the alternative option up front. We would still need a more technically gifted player, but e just would add something we don't have.

Plus I don't think he was earning that much and £500k just doesn't seem worth it, especially in comparison to what we paid for Doukara
