Long way to go lots of games left 10 points off a play off spot 60 odd points to play for . We are becoming harder to beat. All we have to do is learn to win nearly there last season if we were 1 down it was all over this year we come back so improved a bit we can go better we will come good.

Agree, people forget there is so much football left and this league is so up and down. so I like to be optimistic. but only problem is we do struggle to put a run of 3-4-5 games together playing well. But like I said i'm always optimistic.

Here's a thought.
We're not going up and probably not going down, so why bother signing new players now?
Why not wait until the summer when hopefully there will be a bigger and better pool of players to choose from. Cellino and Evans get together and identify players now. Also either give Cook and Mowatt longer contracts, (they'll both only have one year left at the start of next season) same as Byram at the start of this one. Or sell them, get some funds in build a team without them.

My thoughts exactly Dan. Not only more "end of contract" players but a few offloads for financial reasons but for Gods sake Massimo do not leave it until the START of next season.
I feel so sad having to type this. Echoing the message from: last season. and the season before. and the season before. and. You get the gist!
We need a long term strategy and I thought we had one with Cellinos ambitions of Premier league in 3 years but then the volcano kept exploding, continuity dissolved and the 3 year plan kept going back to day 1.

Danum we need to sign some of the players now so we have less to recruit in July and August. Fact is we are so far behind half of what we need should be done now. We must fake it til we make it.
We have lost Byram and technically Dawson too. We will lose get rid of Bianchi Sloth Antenucci Bellusci and probably Murphy. Getting 3 good ones in now clever because truly we will need 6.
If we acquire Dack, the midfield is as good as completed but we desperately require 2 central defenders, a cover LB (Taylor can't do it all next season) and frankly 3 new strikers.

In theory danum you are right as there is more choice and better value available. In reality, we are never at the front of the queue when it comes to player recruitment and therefore end up feeding off the scraps when all the best players have been 'snapped up'. Free transfers in the summer are fine but the better players will be in demand and therefore their wage demands will increase. Cellino's wage structure will not allow us to sign the better players. I agree with George, sign some now, which will allow them time to bed in and then strengthen again in the summer.

Cook needs to get dropped or rested whatever you want to call it. Following leeds home and away every week this isn't a decision I've based on listening to the radio.
I know he's young with potential but he really flatters to deceive. He skips past a man no problem. But after that hid decision making is shocking. His assist and goals are non existent. He needs to be left out of the team and to watch and learn before he gets back in.
Why can't we play well for 90 mins?
We either play well for one half but can't put together a complete performance. If you watch cook every week and disagree we'll have a debate. If you watch him on sky once a month then sorry not in a position to appreciate what I mean.

Good job he's playing so bad then! Or there would be interest from premier league clubs, who might try to buy him in this transfer window? Who knows? They could offer cash plus player for him?

I agree Slough he is well out of form so SE now has options and he should take him out for a few games, Cook needs to make a difference in a game and for at least last 5-6 he simply has not, we have better options now in midfield.
I think he will come good again but on form he should be dropped.

Cook will come good once murphy is dropped. In my opinion murphy is average and no vision. Think that's why mowatt went off form as well, he has done a job for us but think if we are moving forward he is not the guy we need in that midfield. Sad too say but erwin not doing much either in reserves. Think he will go soon as well, needs to go on loan.
Sorry to see Dawson go but he had to really, full of talent but his size was against him. If we were in premiership he would be a revelation but some physical lads in the lower leagues and we had no hard men to protect him, ie Bremner-Giles. Shame but think he may struggle.

BIGE, size should not make a difference, Bremner and Giles were hardly giants but they knew how to look after themselves. Dawson needed to bulk up as the limited times I saw him he looked feeble. Totally agree about Murphy - bang average.

Agree notts dawson has no bite but neither did any of the other midfielders so he was a luxury really we could not affford. Playing time gives you that edge but he was not going to get any. The new players look a bit more robust so let's hope they get stuck in then we might see the best of cook and mowatt and hopefully phillips.

So Brentford tonight it will be a tough game I would take a draw but I feel we might nick it 2 1 I would of gone 4 5 1 with Carayol out on the wing and With Cook, Bridcutt and Diougadra the new lad given a start on his debut. With Wood on his own and same Defence and Keeper. But a decent line up and an attacking formation which is positive and hopefully will lead to a couple of goals and a tight 2 1 win. Drop Murphy, play Cook in the centre and not on the left.

So a 4-1-3-1-1 How is that for a tactical genius ha ha but at least we have Duke in a number 10 type role close to Wood to add more of a goal threat.
Also this new guy can tackle and pass so put him in the middle just in front of Brid who does what he does.
I would drop Murphy for Toums for sure and I would drop Cook who for me just hasn't been doing much and needs a time out.
It could also be a 4-4-2 as well I guess, oh well the old ways are often effective.

Well get back off my jollies and log on yo see what's been happening and not a lot. We signed didgeridoo, who looks decent box to box player but not a goal threat. Linked with players we won't get, ie mcgeady. Hope evans has some secrets. Agaard would be a gòod buy, know he snubbed us but live and learn eh. Expected some to leave as we have a surplus of midfielders who all play the same. Thiink quite a few more will go in summer till the pie man gets a team he wants. Rumours are that Parkin still working to invest, wants 20 mill shares. Expect something to happen end of season.
Good to see Douks scoring as I think he has a lot of potential but needs to be playing. Hope phillips gets some games as he is one we need to bring on, could be one of our best. Coyle as well.
If we can get cb and attacking midfieder or no10 think we can get to top half of table and stay there. Then need to invest in summer, I would say hang on to any money we make this window and splash the cash then.

Not sure Diagourga is a box to box player, definitely a defensive midfielder who will not venture forward much however he should give licence for others to do so.

He does get up and down the pitch pretty well, them long legs. Who do we have to venture forward, I think that's what we are lacking, murphy cook bridcutt none will get in box much, dallas good worker but no goal threat, carayol who knows could get goals. Mowatt might not get back in team. Didgy will bring it out from the back but need a pacy attacking midfielder.

Notts, the signing of Diagonal Man should allow us to see the best of Lewis Cook finally. It may take a year or so but he is the one who has the makings of the box to box Lampard/ Bowyer type midfielder. This could make us very good indeed. Even Adeyemi should see this guy's arrival to up his game. Adeyemi when he's played has hit the woodwork a few times. Maybe he'll score more now. Acquisition of Diagonal Man will prove to be a masterstroke by Fat Boy Steve.

I agree DJ. I don't really care if we don't make the playoffs this season as that was always going to be a big ask, but it would be nice to still be within range come March, rather than our season being dead like normal. A win tonight and over results going out way could close the gap to 8 points!
It's also great to be signing players for cash in January!

Realistically we ain't going to make the playoffs, but please let me be proved wrong. I'm not a fan of 4-1-4-1, but if it grinds out a result, then so be it. I just hope we can attract some decent players come summer time and come this time next year be up there. It's going to be harder as bg teams come down from the Prem and with money in the sky rocket from parachute payments is going to be hard to contend with. Evans, as much as I didn't want him is doing things right. Getting little gems that will be part of a good squad and who knows.
