We need another striker pronto... Paynter is not the answer and McCormack is NOT a lone striker... I wonder if we could get Rob Hulse with a cheeky little bid ? I liked him when he was here first time around

Is it only me that thinjs Ross McCormack is rubbish ?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

As a lone striker yep.. He will be much better playing off Becchio I think he is class to be honest.. Just needs a decent striker to play with... Paynter is carp...

Agree0 Disagree0

He's rubbish at penalties, but as a player he's quite skill full, has good vision and an alright finisher but does definitely need a strike partner.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a very good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought of Paynter more as a bream to be honest....... {Ed045's Note - Roach would have been my call..

Agree0 Disagree0

McCormack is fine. He is like a much inferior Rooney for the Championship. He likes to drop deeper, find space, pass and run at people. He is not the best finisher in the world. He is more like a number 10 and not a lone striker. Works best of someone like Becchio.

Agree0 Disagree0

Birmingham going bust must be players we can get cheap

Agree0 Disagree0

Think progress is been made - slowly. Main worry is with Bechio and Somma out of action I don't see Paynter and McCormack banging in many goals. Gradel up front wont work as we dont have the pace and skills to play through defences. As with last year when Gradel pushed up - a few passes were strung together before one of the big lads at the back it 'hoofed' up the middle- didn't work. With the defence still looking a bit thin could be a bit tricky. I Saw all the home games but only half of the away ones. Anybody see it different?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Totally agree.. It made me so mad last season when Somma played upfront on his own.. He isn't a target man... That is what we need someone to hold the ball up.. PAYNTER is SH1TE fact He has had his chances.. And he found his level in league 1...

I'm the tractor boy who posted on here last night, can I comment on the person who said stockdale would get a fair bit of practice behind our defence, can I just remind you about how many goals you conceded last season, your defence leaked that much your local waterboard were outside elland rd 24 7.stockdale chose us because have you improved your defence no league one for you i am afraid laughing stock.the reason I thought I would come on here is cos you've not got a lot to shout about transfer wise so i thought I would come on here and appologise for pinching all your target
see ya soon, cheer up only a bit of fun I hear you Leeds fans have a sense of humour you need one with your chairman, must admit though I would take your manager he is a class ac t. {Ed045's Note - We have improved our back four with players returning from injury + proven championship trialists.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Sorry where did you finish in the league? LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS Harry MOT

Oi tractor boy, what's up with your own transfer rumour site. Go on your own site and stop trying to get excitement from ours you turnip eating son of a goat. Do one.

I stopped reading at "I'm the tractor boy"

Agree0 Disagree0

Stick to your own webpage you daft scarecrow chasing mupett

Agree0 Disagree0

Notice how he ignores the fact that Stockdale actually wanted to come to us, we just didn't agree to ridiculous loan terms.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually mate, if you knew anything you would know we turned him down because of the 48 hr recall clause.

Just listened to the interview with Lonergan and he sounds like a really nice and experienced guy. I reckon the team lining up against Sandefjord tonight will be the team starting against Southampton (maybe with Bruce to replace Bromby to add a little pace and Mendy with Gradel). Snodgrass and O'Brien look like they'll miss the Saints game because of injury and lack of match fitness. I can't see Lonergan being involved because there's only 2 weeks til the season starts and he hasn't featured for us in pre season.
(Team line up v Sandefjord)

Rachubka
Connolly Kisnorbo Bromby White,
Brown
Sam Clayton Howson Mendy
McCormack.
Subs: Cairns, Bruce, Paynter, Nunez, Gradel, Lees.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Are you nuts? why the hell would mendy take gradel place? thats not going to be our starting line up, lonergan will start and depending how well kisnorbo and nunez play pre season they are likely to start also plus any loan signings we bring in for the defence positions, if that was our starting line up for the norway trip im not a happy bunny. Harry MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

If Sam, Mendy, White and Bromby start we are in bigger trouble then i thought

i think we will see a team more like this

..................Lonergan
.Connolly.Kisnorbo.O'Brien.new LB
Snodgrass.Brown....new CM.Gradel
........................Howson
.................McCormack

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate connolly weak defender, im hoping it'll look like this
lonergan
lichaj kisnorbo o'brien white/border
snoddy howson brown gradel
becchio mc'cormack

but hope we sign couple of good players we can swop and change around and mendy looks like a good un, i also think white could become a LM and a good one in that

Agree0 Disagree0

Are all you muppets totally retarded? Nunez is a definite starter - he is the only player with that bit extra that can create something out of nothing, and has been our best player pre-season.

Just a bit of banter, who would like Prutton back? :D
after seeing him at Wednesday, I'd happily have him back

Believable4 Unbelievable4

There was never ought wrong with him - i just think Simon's ''favourites'' kept him out. Him and Jonathan Douglas were class midfielders.
Wish we'd kept Frazer Richardson he was a good right back and a hugely loyal player

Agree0 Disagree0

Good funny guy but not good footballer anymore really. Harry ..MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Douglas a class midfielder Also, him and Richardson chose to move on. Mmmmm where are they now?

Agree0 Disagree0

Richardson left because he was offered 2,000 a week less than his current contract and Grayson seemed to not particularly like him. He was the best replacement for Gary Kelly to present date

Agree0 Disagree0

But I ask again, where has Richardson been since he left? He looked very promising as a youngster but went backwards.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonny Douglas a class midfielder...give over

The players that SG should sign are;

Keiran Trippier (RB/CB)

Eric Lichaj (RB/LB)

Keith Andrews / Michael Johnson (CM)

And possibly Sanchez Watt (LM, Loan)

A Loan Striker will probably come in once the 25 man squad lists have been submitted in the Premier League.

MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Trippier has joined burnley on loan for season

Leeds squad is shaping up to be stronger than last season; I agree that it's not ideal to have players arriving so late to the season starts, however the nucleus of the squad is the same as last season.

Kisnorbo is better than Naylor
Nunez (little Prince) is far better than Killa
Clayton is at a similar level Johnson arguably slightly behind plus we have Brown
Rachubka is better than Higgs
Lonergan is better than Schmeichel (KS does have potential as he has years on his side but as we stand Lonners is better, it was a good financial move by Leeds KS was running his contract down like the previously stated Johnson, Killa's and not to mention Beckford)

I would now like to see Leeds add some depth of players particularly at LB hopefully lichaj as Bessone should be sold (free). I Would also like to see a winger who can play up top and young holding CM. Leeds will do well this season.

I don't want to see Leeds have lots lone players this season Leeds did the right thing by not bringing stockdale 48 hour release clause a joke from the off

Nunez, Gradel, Howson, Snodgrass all quality sat in midfield

We don t need to splash money, I firmly believe we are set for automatic this season

As for the investment in the stadium I think it s about time that it happened all the promises by PR what happened League 1 happened, the new corperate facilities will over time recoup any investment and make Elland Road more attractive in terms of hosting over events like what Scums ground does

Believable6 Unbelievable0

I agree with everything you said, well said MOT {Ed045's Note - Exactly.. Teams like Man City and Chelsea have turned the game into a 'spend the most, win the most' society, when really it's about play with pride, win with passion. In my opinion of course!

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite right.ANY manager could manage the likes of Chelsea, Man U , Man C, et al with the vast amounts of money at their disposal, its in the lower leagues wher we see the talents of managers, getting promotions on a shoestring, building from scratch, Grayson IS doing a good job with very little money, replace the likes of Parker, Paynter and Bessone with a bit of quality and we will be there or thereabouts, then watch us go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Time will tell...

26 Jul 2011 13:28:53
Lets hope that now the #1 shirt has been filled Grayson can now go on and strengthen other areas, namely the leaky defence from last season, another CB and left back is a must and maybe Lichaj returning at right back. Maybe another midfield option, a good box to box player and Mendy if he continues to impress. I do feel that a quality striker who could lead the line and provide an outlet up front now Becchio and Somma are out would make us a real threat, someone like Fuller on loan would be ideal however realistically that would be unlikely.

we are leeds not a rumour but a fact, best fans, bezt club, best atmosphere fact maybe not the best chairman, i have little faith in him at the min, maybe when he has finished his redevelopment he may sell us on to someone with financial backing (hopes i know) but we should never forget we are leeds and will carry on supporting leeds until billy paynter bags a hat-trick for us and furthermore we will be back where we belong soon enough and back there to stay

What's all this rubbish about lonergan being poo Give him a break he is a betther keeper the kasper Kasper potioning was awful all season an personally I only think people thought he was good due to his father let's just wait and see before people start slating the team And I think that killa an johnson was shocking all season only good thing johnson did was score that great goal in the cup that's a bout it he was poo in all the positions grayson tried him in I think if we bring 1 player in each position (cb, cm, cf) we will have a great shout at promotion Let's all get behind the team and tear up this league MOT. I know people don't agree that Lonnagan was Simon's No1 keeper target but what if in a important period of the season Stockdale was called back. We have a experienced pair of keepers who hopefully will shout at their back 4 and with hopefully the lad from Villa joining at the weekend I believe the defence will b stronger. Remember we missed Paddy and it's like getting a new player in. Keep the Faith

It was nothing to do with recall clause its down to 2 things 1 we wouldn't pay the loan fee lonegran was the cheaper option 2 simple he chose ipswich cos of our lack of ambition

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Nah you can't have a first choice goal keeper on a 24hr recall clause. Makes no sense. Nowt to do with choices, tractor boys willing to take chance that could blow up in face Then again it's all speculation, we only know what rumours are flying around.

Leeds aren't we

Agree0 Disagree0

Lack of ambition of a bit of sense - £150k for a permanent keeper with good experience and a proven track record in the championship or £250-500k for a loan keeper which could be recalled at 24hrs notice. stop being negative and think about it properly, bet you'd like ridsdale to come back as he'd spend cash we havent got wouldnt you

Agree0 Disagree0

Fulham could have recalled him afer 1 day and we would still have to pay loan fee, Leeds right to pull out of the proposal paying for a loan player plus wages when fulham/stockdale needs to get experience then added to that the 24hr clause stupid really stupid move that im glad tractor boys have taken

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 23:46:29
Ok we got lonergan but and say we sign bodor, mendy and osbourne we still NEED a right back hopefully lichaj. A top center back which I think is essential coz as much as I rate paddy I dunno if he can stay injury free whole season n I think OB is becoming less the player he was, need a sting take no s# comander in the heart of defense, n I still think we need a similar player like that for the defensive mid role, brown 8 years ago yes but at the time now I'm not so sure, attacking wise we r fine, now with Nunez stepping up and mendy looking promising, hope Grayson just boosted the defensive parts now to make us that promotion pushing solid team, I'll have faith in Simon and I believe he can get us back up there, just hope he gets some more class players in, MOT

25 Jul 2011 23:30:51
Hasn't anyone notice what's going on at Leeds??

Everyone we sell and buy are always ' un-disclosed' fees? Wonder Why.....is it because we aren't idiots and realise that spending £200k on a keeper after we sold one for £1.2m that's £1m in uncles kens kitty, but uncle kens will state he has replaced the keeper regardless of the money

'Un-disclosed' = 'uncle ken's kitty'
Number 1 target = wasn't anyone else left
Not for sale = uncle ken on holiday will ring you when he is back
Keep the faith = I haven't a clue who we are signing
4 targets in mind = there on the list with the other 300+ released players
New boxes at elland road = less places to queue for food/beer

And finally............

We are working hard behind the scenes = uncle ken says after training everyone to elland road to help the lads finish the missing side of our ground cos some old fart reckons corporate is more important than the real fans who for the last years have had to put up with lies and total s**te from our beloved chairmen

Tell me uncle ken who phoned lonergan back you or SG I would have told you to stick it after your comments last week

Does anyone know where to get last seasons goalkeeping stats because it's doing my head in u lot saying lonergan let in 9 more goals looking at the league table he didn't play matches from march onwards so can't count all them goals from after the Leeds game onwards which is bout ten games thank you

Believable0 Unbelievable2

He missed a few games because he was apparently lacking in confidence, but he's still a great buy and made a profit from kasper. Great business as far as i am concerned.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2011 21:44:17
With regards to signing Lonergan to be perfectly honest I think in my own humble opinion it's a huge step backwards. Grayson said he wanted to improve in the goalkeeping position because the friendly ghost conceded 70 league goals with without a shadow of a doubt the worst back 4 that has ever graced the Championship, while Lonergan conceded 79 league goals with a better back 4 - improvement I think not. I think the money spoke, also Grayson is quoted on the OS that Leeds were not interested in all these previously mentioned goalkeepers and that Lonergan was his first choice, yet in the same interview he also says he hopes Lonergan and Rachubka battle it out for No.1 role having already stated Lonergan was his first choice target - anyone see a paradox?? I myself am a season ticket holder for the past 4 years and have had a lot of faith in Grayson but i'm afraid I think Bates is starting to become the puppetmaster and Leeds financially might be very good but playing wise and our reputation as still a big club is starting to fade. I hope i'm drastically wrong but I can't see anyhing good coming from this season.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

How can you say we had a worse back four, they were relegated. Idiot.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we hadn't been so good going forward we would have joined them. You simply can't afford to concede 70 goals, we did well to finish seventh but had we been better at the back we could have made PL - We certainly would have made play offs

Agree0 Disagree0

Preston shipped more than us because believe it or not, their defence & morale was worse than ours. Plus it would be demoralising for Rachubka if Grayson simply said that Lonergan was No.1 end of. Rachubka may as well just sit back and take his wages if that's the case.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you say we had a worse back four, they were relegated. Idiot.

And so would we have been if not for 2 wingers Max/Snody and a striker Becchio if left to our midfield and our woefully defence we would have gone down {Ed045's Note - probably.
