Agree but it was not just Sharp who did not get a chance. Montenegro, Fabro, Sloth, Ngoyi, could have been used in our last eight games but all had a wasted season. He will do well at Sheff

ngoyi was out seen he signed and sharp not good enough he was a panic signing at start of season like a lot of them

Ngoyi was fit for run in just not used.

It's true that Sharp, Adryan, Sloth etc. MAY not have been good enough - but we will never know about the first two. Can't judge a player properly on odd few minutes/games here and there playing in a position or system that didn't suit.
I agree Billy was a panic buy, but there is nowhere near enough evidence that he wasn't good enough imo. And you could tell how proud he was to wear the shirt. He would have sweat blood for us. I'm glad he's gone to the Blades (for his sake). I'm sure he will get lots of games in a system that suits him, and I think he will be great for them.

Naomi was ok first half against Norwich died second half was treding water for there goal.although our midfield looked good last year between them and back four always looked vulnerable that's why we played five in midfield and one upfront. Why billy never got his chance.

All this talk on "We need wingers"
We don't, we have them, Sam Byram can play on the right with Beradi filling in at RB. Casper Sloth can play LW and RW, he is fast and can cross a ball pretty well. Alex Mowatt is alright on the left but needs practice. Ajose can play on the wings but is not at Championship level yet.

Sorry Elephantgrass but I don't agree. Yes, you can put in non winger into the role and they will do a job however we need a specialist who has the ability to beat players, get to the line and provide quality crosses to feed our strikers. Sloth and Mowatt lack the pace to do that and although Byram has the pace he tends to cut in due to not being confident in providing quality crosses

We always make do and play players out of position - let's just get a round peg for a round hole and stop messing about - we need speedy wide players who can deliver a cross and get back when needed.

Agree with that Notts

27 Jul 2015 00:33:42
Notts spot on. It's why McDermott was foolish when he turned down burke for 400k.

27 Jul 2015 06:31:48
Have to agree with Notts. We paper over cracks year after year. A natural winger goes to the skips past defenders. Byram usually cuts inside, his best position is right back. All the premiership teams showing an interest in him are not wanting him to play RW.

I agree chaps. Last season in one game we had our right back on the left wing, our left back at right back, our centre half at right back and our left back on the right wing. Ok Byram and Taylor only swapped wings for 20 minutes to try and create something, but still they were both full backs. I think we have some great talent in our squad, but just because they may be a great midfielder doesn't mean they are great wingers. I agree with the round peg in a round hole comment.

27 Jul 2015 09:22:28
Agree with most of above, Byram is better at full back. We do need pace but don't believe it has to be a winger. Someone with pace who can play out wide or midfield or behind the strikers will do. Like Sterling, Mata or Hazard. I know some say they are wingers but they pop up anywhere and create chances. Aaron Lennon looks to be on his way out of Spurs, he would fill that role but probably too expensive.

a winger is someone who gets ball dribbles with close ball control and goes pass players like hmmmm eddy gray Charlie cooke gradel to name a few

Agree George not McDermott's finest hour especially as his plan B was Kebe (£20 K + a week) and Stewart (outstanding debt of £500K)

Bermo, use your connections to get us Henen.

Williamson and bamba as a centre back pairing sounds pretty strong at this level! Being linked with Williamson today I'd happily take him

Newcastle fans don't rate him. I have seen him a couple of times during a patch when NUFC were conceding a lot. Definitely not good premiership material and he has been accused of an 'attitude' problem. Might be ok at championship level but I think he would have serious problems with pace like Watford had last season. I hope Rosler knows what he is doing. The other lad we are linked with, Gareth Mcauly, is 36ish. Too old?

can't wait to see us in full flow, I think that the pre season games are good for a run out but we never see the real deal until it the season really starts. Still worried about depth of quality if / when we get injuries. Need to get the extra wide midfielders / wingers in ASAP (surprised no one picked up on that😂). hope this week sees some additions MOT.

Losing 2 -1to bundesliga teams is no shame stick with the plan we should be top 6 this year

Oxwhite, got to disagree. On current personnel we shall finish around 10th. Give me decent signings to fill left wing and striker we are top 6 but that hasn't occurred yet.

26 Jul 2015 13:44:52
George I was basing my prediction of top 6 on getting in a couple more decent signings and keeping byram. Agree We are a touch light at the moment but still think we are on the right road. Even as we are with a bit of luck and a fair wind we could hit top 6 ( but we are leeds and never get any luck). Still, looking forward to a good season with strong backroom team this time for a change.

26 Jul 2015 15:22:12
Yeah but our first team failed to beat York and Harrogate so the Bundesliga games are cancelled out. We need a dominator in the middle and a pair of pacey wingers

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2015 17:50:10
Smitch, we are fine in central midfield. You are not going to acquire a Keane or Vieira type at championship level. Byram will most likely play right wing. We desperately require left wing, striker and on pre-season showing another central defender. When we acquire these people we are top 6 material.
