Great afternoon at Stocksbridge Park SteelsFootball Ground with its Vardy Stand! He was knocking the goals in here until 2010!

Under 23s back to winning and a pretty good performance in a good game. The ground was swelled by about 100 fans from Borway, Sweden and Finland, having one of their long weekends and shouting and cheering like mad. Gave the game a great atmosphere!

Some pluses from the game, Roberts two goals and some good movement including a great volley. Harrison also played a half and looked good, went on a great run, 1/ 2 with Odour and was taken down for a penalty. Odour played in midfield, which was interesting, but didn't seem to make the most of him.

First time I have seen Kun play a whole game and he did very well including a great goal. Fast, really strong, not scared of putting himself about. His build really helps him, doesn't look like a kid!

Clarke got a half and created problems and Edmondson looked sharper and leaner, had a great shot superbly saved by the keeper.

Struick also had the best game I have seen him play, played centre CB in a back three and looked strong.

Brown didn't play in the end but is supposed to be in the team for Friday's game against Newcastle.

Harrison got a bad kick on the leg and he didn't look good but was due to go off anyway and Edmondson got another kick, seems to happen every week.

All in all, back to winning ways and top I think!

Thank you, I’ve been here for a few months and I’m lucky to have the opportunity to go. I’d recommend it to anyone. Today a chance to see Roberts, Harrison, Kun, Clarke, Edmondson et al! All for free and a chance to visit a ground with great views.

Kun will be a top player for us I hope someday soon. I lived with my Bulgarian wife in Spain for a while, and read about him a bit over there, and so was delighted when he moved to us. Actually surprised he hasn’t featured much more in the 23s. Glad you’re enjoying getting to those games fella, and I’ve said before, appreciate your perspectives!

Bright, agree about Kun, they settled him in the under 18s, but now he should be securing a regular place with the under 23s. Then we can see what he can produce week on week at this level. He seems to have a lot, physique, skill and reasonable pace plus an eye for the goal.

Whereabouts in Spain were you?

KunT still young but has bags of talent and will def get his chance in the future. The lad who rarely gets mentioned and for me is one of the best at the moment is Jordan Stevens, work rate and awareness spot on. Talented as well always causes problems. Whole team play as a unit so hard to single out just one as all play their part. Young lads like KunT and Kamwa waiting in the wings bodes well for the future.

Totally Bige. The future is really exciting with this crop coming through!
Spanish, I was midway between Puerto Banus, and Gibraltar, in a small port called Duquesa, about twenty mins from Sotogrande. A nice couple of years it was!

Because we've had some quite poor keepers in recent years . it's become a major talking point and i know that's the reason we come on here, to put our point and opinions across.
Imo keepers are all open to errors, the best of them do it, all their careers. keepers improve once they have the belief from there defence, i think they are in the spotlight more than a striker. both positions rely on confidence, a striker has more self belief, a keeper gets it from the back four. we have seen the doubt our defence has had in recent keepers and the panic the defenders have shown by not trusting our number 1.
Bpf looks to have lost a bit of trust in recent games from back 4, so was about to be dropped. doesn't make him a bad keeper though. he will learn from it. our fans will be all over huffer once he makes a few errors.
Been following Leeds fanaticaly for 45 plus years and i don't think we've ever had a truly brilliant goalie
Some decent, some ok, some good,
And a few real shi--e. its the nature of the position. the outfield 10 get you promoted.
The goalie will win and lose you a few games. cheers lads.

{Ed025's Note - i have to disagree gilesy, i will excuse you on gary sprake and david harvey as you are probably too young to remember them, but the likes of nigel martyn and john lukic were excellent keepers mate..

26 Nov 2018 20:57:44
You picked exactly the two names who sprang to my mind Ed025.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they would spring to anyone,s mind TS because they were top notch mate..

26 Nov 2018 21:03:19
Put them both in decent category. been going since 76.Not had a brilliant 1 imo.
Those 2 probably best up to present. my old man said sprake was unbelievable on his day but prone to big boo boo's.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would say a lot better than decent gilesy, gary sprake was an excellent keeper imo and the odd boo boo would be when a 16 stone CF would be allowed to barge him when he had the ball and get away with it mate or kick it out of his hands, in the 60,s he was probably one of the top 3 keepers in europe..

26 Nov 2018 21:23:09
Robbie was ok too and I have a soft spot for Kasper. Met Martyn once in Bibi's at the bottom of town. Top chappy.

Can remember watching saturday football show when i was a kid about goalie bloopers and sprake threw it in his own net and completely missed another couple.
My point is e'd. all keepers make big mistakes from time to time, next minute they keep you in a game with a worldy
I, d rather have a class back 4
And an ok keeper than the other way around cheers.

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate..

Nigel Martyn, David Harvey, Paul Robinson there's 3 top notch keepers without even thinking about it.

Before all European games were televised and LUFC were in Europe every year, Rod Belfitt told me that Sprake won Leeds a lot of backs to the wall games with some brilliant performances. He did make a couple of high profile boobs which unfortunately for him were televised, but in my opinion he was a top keeper. So was David Harvey, Lukic, Martyn and Robinson to name but a few. Probably the worst one that got away has to be David Seaman.

right as an amazing goalkeeper myself i appoint myself as most qualified to comment (takes one to know one and all that)

martyn was class for years great shot stopper very consistent, that leeds team was largley down to his saves

kasper schiemcle won the league with a unfanciced team, makes the odd mistake but very consistent and as good a shot stopper as thier is in the world over last few years

robinson was class, great all round game, devleoped young, consistent good shot stopper

john lukic a footballing god, only man to win top flight with two different teams, great shot stopper, amazing on one on ones. around 88-92 he was one the of best and should of been england number 1. played in four different decades. didn't cope with the back pass rule but until then was an amazing goalkeepper and anyone who says otherwise i will hunt you down and KP you (kp means nut you and break your legs so you can not run. yes even on a keeper post i get old KP in. boom)

33 points from 18 games. Any predictions as to what we will get from the next 18? I am going 28.

If we continued that form to the end of the season it would give us 84pts and looking at last years table, it would have given us 4th spot and the play offs. Would you take that now if offered? Personally I wouldn’t, I see only the top 2 positions and automatic promotion, but then I am biased.

I can see a lower total winning the league this year as it is so open - much less so than last year and the top teams will continue to lose points as the season progresses. Nobody has really taken the league by the scruff of the neck yet but hopefully with players coming back from injury we will be the ones to take advantage.

i'd bite hand off for playoffs and think we might scrape playoffs or finsih as low as 7th. west brom, norwhich, borough looking better than us for top two. Sadly I think unless we strenghteen in jan we will be outclassed in playoffs as well, but then i am negitive.
