Save the £3m we were going to spend on Foresteri who doesn't seem interested & instead make a move for Adomah at Boro - Looks like he's handed a transfer request in after falling out with Karanka. Could do a job for us.

Well def agree with the first bit. Not interested in signing players who don't want to come. The dutch lad on the other hand seems very keen. No idea if he's any good of course

Yeah I don't know much about the Dutch lad either. Happily give him a go if they think he's good enough & he wants to come. Sounds from the reports like he'd add something.

All the best to Ian Harte in his retirement . Great player for LUFC and I have many fond memories of his free kicks. Could have done with him back here over the last few years.

Fantastic player in dead ball situations. Not so good when the ball did confusing things like move about. All the best to him indeed .

Yeah bang on. I felt sure he was going to come back and finish his career at ER 😞

anyone else think Kevin Nolan would be worth a punt for some experience in midfield.

Just been realeased from West Ham I understand.

Know a west ham fan who says he's absolutely awful these days . Would be a huge step back . No thank you

Dont know where your friends coming from Lancaster, Nolan is still a really decent premiership player. He would bring a hell of a lot to the team on a short term basis. Would add an experienced head to the centre of the pitch for us, he doesn't mind a tackle and he has taken young players under his wing a couple of times, most notably living with Carroll for 6 months at Newcastle to help him ditch his attitude issues, that's commitment. he's a natural leader too so he would make a great general for Bamba as a voice further up the pitch.
If nothing else he brings a great promotion record getting Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham out of the Championship plus he actually has a decent strike rate too in this division.
If he is willing then snap him up as far as i'm concerned.

Heard he had been released and thought the same d.s. Experienced, physical, creative'ish and a leader. IMO a nice addition to the squad. I've heard rumours he may go back to Bolton. Yes his best days are behind him but still in the championship, he would be more than a decent player. That being said I think a CB and a winger are priority ATM.

I agree he would have the experience but his legs have gone . I didn't just take my mates word for it I looked at their fans forums and they are quite happy to let him go . Someone with trickery and pace, a link between midfield and attack is a much more pressing priority, in my humble opinion

Just to add to that, I think Barton is a much better footballer . He's the one we should get if we're looking to bring in some experience

Nolan might not have the pace he had but speed isn't everything through the middle. As for linking mid and attack he did that at Bolton for years, he played more defensive at Newcastle and West Ham but his goals and assists ratios in the Championship are better than most forwards. Ok so he lacks a little flare but I think flare is a lot less important in midfield than consistency and stability for us right now, hopefully we bring in a flare wide player instead.
That said yes I would rather have Barton too. He is better technically and probably has more years left in him but we offered him a contract and he wanted double, 40k a week isn't going to happen.

I would much rather have a decent winger that either Barton or Nolan. They wouldn't add anything to our squad other than inflated wages.

I know are current policy is young and up and coming but just reading Kevin Nolan has left West Ham .
He is still playing very well wondered what you true fans think?

He would be a better + cheaper? option than Barton, as long as he still has the legs.

Good player for WH last year, dunno really if I would choose to spend loads in the midfield area when we are pretty strong there, but experience is something we don't have loads of.

You could make a case either way but personally I would spend our money elsewhere but an interesting one

In my opinion Nolan could be just what we need, maybe the Strachan like catalyst the youngsters require.

D G I do agree we are good in midfield I was thinking that someone with that experience could maybe be good for the youngsters ,maybe help teach them about holding possession and slowing a game down when we are holding on to a lead and being attacked .
We have seemed to panic and go into total defence mode which leaves us open to set plays .
