Wish Sam would sign up, we are a better team with him in. However if Liverpool do want him he is at an age where it would be in his best interests to go. Sad to see one of our own go.

I wonder if it's possible for Milner to come back the other way.

Excellent post George.

28 Dec 2015 05:16:19
Thank you Survivor. My spidey instincts tell me I'm not the only one pondering upon this possibility. Milner could be our new Strachan.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you do realise he is being paid £165k a week? I am not sure he would consider the kind of pay cut Leeds would be able to afford, sadly, because I would be glad to see him gone from Liverpool. Truly awful player, who runs around a lot achieving nothing. Can't pass, can't tackle, can't shoot, can't cross, can't take corners, can't lead. Please take him!}

28 Dec 2015 05:24:58
Ed001, how do you really feel lol? 165k a week is some pay packet.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame, because he has a good attitude, works his socks off, but he just doesn't have the quality to match.}

28 Dec 2015 05:36:13
Ed001, do you believe Milner would succeed at Championship level? Sounds like that might be touch and go.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - judging by what I saw last night, he would be one of the better players at Championship level.....}

28 Dec 2015 07:45:51
It's true he's on a huge salary but If Cellino gets the £12 mill he's asking for Byram it stacks up.
Also I understand Milner will take a drop in wages according to what I know.
So Ed 001 it's possible you will be rid of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how does it stack up? How are you going to pay wages, signing fee and transfer fee out of the money you have left over from that? You will lose tax, agent's fees, 5% goes to Byram, solicitor's fees, a percentage to the FA (is it Football League as you are in the Championship? I would need to check) which I think is another 5% off the top of my head. You are dreaming if you think you could sign him and stay within FFP.}

28 Dec 2015 08:47:02
I agree it looks crazy after all Cellino has achieved but he's been discussing it.
We need a quality captain and we haven't got one have we?
The last time this happened was when The directors put in £5 mill all those years ago to finally drag us out of this division after years of mediocracy.
It was HW who extracted the cash and it worked.
Also Milner is Leeds through and through.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they haven't discussed it with either Milner nor Liverpool, so who has he been discussing it with?}

28 Dec 2015 08:58:31
George are you serious about us getting 12 million for Byram when he could leave for a nominal fee at the end of the season. It is clear Evans needs to move him on if we are to bring in any players in January as it would be the money we get from any Byram deal to finance any new players. It is no coincidence Byram has only recently been selected. just in time to put him in the shop window to try and encourage bids from clubs in the premiership. A lot has been made of Byram leaving this year but as I understand it Sylvestri, Bellusci and Antonucci are also out of contract this year. Ed is this correct? If it is why are we not moving these players on as it is very clear to see none of them are good enough to play for our great team. We need to move these players on and use any money we get from these to put into contracts for the group of outstanding youngsters we currently have we should be building a team around the likes of Byram, Taylor, Mowatt and Cook.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Sylvestri and Bellusci are contracted until 2018 mate, Antenucci is out of contract in the summer though.}

28 Dec 2015 09:06:37
Who arranges player sales?
Come on Ed001
It's always the players agents.
That's what they do .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - so you are saying Cellino has spoken with Jason Ferguson then?}

28 Dec 2015 09:26:52
All I will say is Cellino went for lunch with Jonathan Barnett Stellar Group recently to discuss players.
You know if I say any more I will be shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - so you have nothing then. Thanks thought so.}

28 Dec 2015 09:41:19
Nothing I dare say.
just wait and see.
If you want to know more you know what to do.
Byram is almost with you and now he's looking to sell another player after all.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you say so.}

28 Dec 2015 10:17:52
Thanks Ed for clarifying my question earlier, maybe we just wishful thinking on my part. MOT.

I think a big thank you to Steve (pies) Evans is due.
He's really making something happen at last for Leeds United.
The players are working harder for him every week. '
The Rotherham game will be an interesting test of whether we are really moving forward.

Birdcage proper no.4 especially at this level and increases quality of those surrounding him by 15% probably except for Wood who simply needs directional assistance.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2015 19:45:06
Apart from his one mistake Belusci was outstanding. Cooper was very average and made several serious mistakes which fortunately others were able to bail him out. Wooton is ok as a stop gap defender but leaves us seriously lacking at the right side. ( wouldn't play him but he is solid for the most part) He gets plenty of ball but he is not a right back and we lose many opportunities to break forward quickly. I hope Evans is right about Wood so far very unimpressive. Saw the Morison miss for Millwall against Charlton as well as Woods collection of missed chances. Not much to choose between them apat from £3 million and one division the moment. Bridcott - excellent. Murphy oK. Antenucci missed a chance that he would normally take (not enough game time) but lively enough. Dallas very average. Taylor his usual self- Very good but some of his final balls were poor. One of our best players though. Byram a bit up and down but scored the goal. Cook was a bit off the pace and not at his best. All in all a decent display by the team but still not enough chances created - we scored with the first one after having 74% possession. I can't see us being within 6 points of the play offs by 2nd January so not expecting many (if any) signings. Might lose Byram and Bridcott although, if I was a premiership club, I'd go for Taylor. Derby will be interesting as they won't give us anywhere near the same amount of possession.

27 Dec 2015 21:15:39
All in all a fair summary Hess, slightly disagree regarding Dallas tho. A real workhorse imo and as is usually the case with this type of player a lot of it goes un noticed. Plus when he's on his game he gets the crosses in. One of the 1st on the team sheet for me. In Stevie I trust!

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Dec 2015 21:29:01
Sorry Hess I have to disagree with you about Bellusci, definitely not outstanding, his constant urge to get forward is costing us points, another mistake which he is prone to, he is getting caught out of position, which is what happened for the goal, he does it all the time and leaves poor coops to cover him, he is not disciplined enough. And that's what we need if we are to get out of this league.

Coops is slightly above average but is improving with more experience, he is solid and dependable and caught the eye of Mr Strachan who is no mug as we all know 😂 also Big Stevie has made him vice captain tells you something, over bellusci, bellusci has had some good games of late to be fair, but I think we need a better more disciplined defender, also I might add it's essential we get in a Charlie Austin type goal scorer, again I think he is trying hard enough but we need that extra consistent quality in front of goal, nothing personal mate just my honest opinion fella. mot 😎.

Hopefully Cellino was watching today, buy a striker and watch the results and attendances improve.
Taylor and Dallas are providing the chances we just need someone to take them. I know we need a centre half and Bridcutt but a striker would have the biggest impact.

27 Dec 2015 19:41:01
Controversial post here, but I think Silvestri actually did a good job for their goal! he came out quickly, narrowed the app and angle, it must have been very tempting to have clattered him or handled the ball and then we would have been screwed! don't really blame Sep either, mills should have been broken in half way before he played the ball!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2015 19:24:21
Well fellow leeds sufferers 😎 I think that has to be the most one sided draw I've ever seen, some really good football from us for most of the match, I think bellusci mistake highlights we need a better more disciplined centre half and woods obvious lack of confidence and ability says we need a Charlie Austin type player sadly I don't think wood is it and I think Stevie boy knows it, bring on the January window mot 😎.

Having just heard SE's post match comments about Chris wood I feel his support is admiral but at this moment mistimed. It pains me to say as a previous supporter of Chris wood he is bringing nothing to our team performance, whether we buy in January or use Doukara as a number 9 they would win more headers, bring more players into play and hold the ball up better as at the moment in time wood does none of these things. A spell as a 10-15 minute sub at the end of a game may help restore his obviously shattered confidence.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2015 19:23:28
We were easily the better team today and I thought we played really good football for most of the game. Their goal was a joke and should not have happened. Still we kept on playing football and got our reward ( perhaps we should have had more) . On the negative side I have to now start agreeing that Wood is a problem for us. Taylor got himself ( with good passes from team mates) into great positions today to deliver great crosses. But time after time Wood goes to the far post behind the defenders. He has to learn that the near post is easier for wingers and more dangerous for the opposition.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Dec 2015 20:22:50
Taylor got into great positions, but his crosses, were to no one! He needs to improve vastly with his final ball!

I have seen 63 minutes of the game against Nottingham F. and Wood looks like a fisk on dry land. We have had 58 % posession and 0 chances. Hopefully playing 2 men up front will help. Hope Steve Evans signs a central defender and a striker in the january window.

Why can sky get away with a pundit who played for forest and refers to them as "we" and "hope that they get more chances". are they not supposed to be neutral? isn't that why thommo, le tiss etc don't do their clubs?!

3m for Wood, money wasted as we still need a striker. Doukara waste of money, Antenucci is a sub at best. Seems clear were we need to strengthen.

News suggesting Sam could go to Liverpool for £5 mil. If he were to go and The cash could be reinvested what would £5 mil do for us.
Bridcutt looks good, but is he staying. Woods 7 goals is that enough.
Can't see Leeds busting the bank as were perhaps to far away from the top to take that risk.
So we're would you spend the cash. I like to sign Bridcutt. Can't imagine there would be much left after that .
Unless there are more sales perhaps Woods could go?
